and now let's get on with the show all right bigfoot society we've got the privilege of
talking to Jeff today. Jeff is an individual that left some interesting comments over on the
YouTube channel and I reached back out to him and thankfully we're able to be connected and he's able
to come on the show today to share what he has experienced over the years. How's it going, Jeff?
It's going good. Thanks for having me. Absolutely. I've been looking forward to hearing your story.
I'd say let's go ahead and without any further ado, I'm going to go ahead and
hand things over to you. You're welcome to take us back to the area where this first started,
and the floor is yours. Okay. Well, it was in the early, I'm going to say mid-80s,
probably around 86 or 87 or so. And we had just moved. It was in an area. It was in Gallia County,
Ohio and we had just moved out to this. We lived in a small town and we had moved out into the country
and we just bought a place and everything. We had been there probably 30 days maybe not,
maybe not even that long. And we've just gotten moved in and starting to get settled in. And
one night I was asleep and I had to get up and use the restroom and everything. So I got up and there was a
window kind of like right by my bed a couple of feet away and I walked by it didn't think of intention
you know I was kind of half asleep they used the restroom come back and I get in bed and I kind of feel like
I don't know you ever get that funny feeling like something's watching here not right or you know
whatnot and so I kind of roll over and there was this big huge solid black thing at my window
and the window was several feet off the ground, the bottom of it.
And then I'm going to say the top of the window was just guesstimate seven to eight feet or so off the ground if you were standing there.
And this thing took up like the whole almost pretty much the whole window.
And its head was at the top.
Shoulders was as wide as the window.
And it just completely, you could see a little bit, you know, over its shoulders behind it.
And I just didn't know what to think at first.
It really scared me and freaked me out.
And so I'm like running through my head like, you know, what this is.
And I had some family that lived across the street, some young cousins and stuff.
So at first I thought maybe somebody, you know, messing around, prank of me, whatever.
And so the more I kind of just, you know, going through things in my head.
And then there was a pole light, a light on a telephone pole out in the yard probably.
50 to 60 yards behind this thing and you couldn't see through it so it definitely wasn't like just some shadow casting or anything like that and so I laid near staring at it for several minutes and the longer I stared at it you couldn't make out no real details like of the body or nothing it was just really close to the windows like solid black and so I stand there or
I laid there and looked at it, and it never moved.
And, of course, I was frozen.
I never moved either.
And we kind of stared at each other for a while.
And the longer it stood there, which was several minutes, felt like a long time, you know how that goes.
And the thing finally moved.
It turned to its side, right when I was just thinking, you know, this is nothing.
Because at the time, I didn't even know what a big foot was.
I've never heard of one.
didn't know nothing about it.
And it turned to its side.
And it took one step and it was out of the window, like completely gone with one step.
And you could almost hear it walking around the side of the house.
And the first thing that went through my head as a young kid, I was like, all this
thing's going to go around the back, try to come in the back door or something to that effect.
and but you know it just walked off and it never messed with the house no more whatever i laid there
quiet for a long time after that i couldn't even go back to sleep and so this was pretty far out
in the country in galley county ohio and like kind of where galley county meets jackson and some
other counties out there's a wildlife area it's called wayne national forest and the property
butted up against some of the Wayne National Forest property.
And that's an area of, if I'm not mistaken, I looked it up one time.
I think total it's like 144,000 square acres of national forests.
And so, you know, I didn't know what it was.
And like, I never really told my grandma about it or nothing
because I lived with my grandmother when I was a small kid.
And so fast forward a couple of years.
and I was we had moved back out of there and I was going to school and they was a kid that was in my class with me and there was a lake outside of Raya Grand Ohio called Tycoon Lake and this kid and his family lived like on the backside of this lake and he started talking about Bigfoot and of course I was intrigued I didn't know anything about it
and he showed me, told me that his mom had seen Bigfoot in their backyard like a bunch of times
and she would sketch what it looked like and he had these sketchings he brought to school with him
and that's how I knew then what I'd seen at my bedroom window when I was, you know, like a year prior.
It kind of freaked me out and, you know, but it was, I kind of knew what, you know, what it was at my window then when I'd seen it.
And there's a bunch that's been a bunch of sightings in that area in Gallagia County, I guess.
I found out like there was some going all the way back to the 1800s in that area, actually.
And I think it talked about one on the show I was watching that I commented on, actually.
So then fast forward probably 20 some years later, me and some of my friends decided that we were going to go
out to Wayne National, there's a big rock out there and we would all go out there and hang out
sometimes. And me and like three or four of my friends and my brother was with us as well. And we
went out there. Now, this is only like probably five miles through the woods to where I had the
first encounter out. And so we go out there to an evening in time and there's, and we walk, you've got to
walk through the woods like 15 minutes or so to get to where we were going to this big rock.
It's like five stories tall.
And you can go around the side of the rock and climb up and get on top of this rock.
And you're like in the tree canopy.
You're like way up off the ground.
And we were just up there, you know, having a good time talking.
And like I had told my these people about my encounter at some point in time during our friendship.
you know, and they all just kind of brushed it off and, you know, got a giggle out of it or whatever.
And so we were out there hanging out and there's a creek that flows.
I'm not for sure, probably 7,500 yards from this rock, maybe not even that much.
And it had rained a lot.
It was like late springtime.
And it had flooded and receded, but they were still a bunch of floodwater backed up, backwater.
in certain areas there.
And we were just up on top of this rock,
minding our own business,
talking, whatever,
and I'd heard something.
And my buddies heard it too.
And it was like,
when you get into, say,
water that's like
a little over knee deep
and you've got to wade through it,
like a person
two on two legs makes a certain sound
waiting through water.
and so if it's a deer or something like that it doesn't make the same sound if any noise at all usually
depending on how deep the water is and when we heard this i told everybody else to be quiet and then
they heard it too and they kind of freaked everybody out because everything in the woods got super
silent when we heard this like you could have heard a pin drop a mile away
they was like no crickets, no birds, no frogs, no nothing.
And like it literally scared everybody there.
And but now we, you could get a little bit of the glimpse of what it was through the trees.
Because now, mind you, we were way up and this thing was way down the ground and it was kind of far away too.
But you could, you could just hear it walking through the water, waiting through the water.
and it just really freaked everybody out
and nobody would go down off of the top of this rock
like because our car was
you know 15 minutes through the woods
parked out on the road
and nobody would
wanted to get down and go to the car
and you know
it really freaked all these guys out
and we stayed there until
probably an hour after this happened
and really
you know we just it just walked
was just going somewhere.
Like, you know, it didn't even know.
If it knew we were there, it was trying to get away or something.
You know, I don't know if this thing was just passing through and we spooked it or what.
But so we finally, it started getting dark on us.
And I told the guys, you know, like, I don't know about you guys,
but I don't want to be walking back to the car and pitch black because we didn't have no
flashlights, no nothing.
So we finally come down off there.
And we made it back to the car.
And still to this day, everybody that was there with us,
they will not go back out to that area with me.
You know what I mean?
And they're all petrified of it, won't go back out there.
I've tried to get them to go back out there a couple of times.
And my brother, he'd go back out there with me,
but none of the other guys would.
And it's pretty neat though.
I'm glad that I got to experience that with some of these guys because I think they just didn't take me seriously when I told them what I'd seen.
And, you know, it was only just a few miles from where I'd seen the first encounter at.
So it was a pretty wild time there the second time.
But there's a lot of land out there.
So, you know, anything could be out there if you think about, you know, all those thousands of acres.
It's got plenty of places to be.
and the only time anybody's out there would be, you know, hunting season or whatever maybe.
So that's pretty much about my experiences with it in the Gallagia County area there.
I live in West Virginia now, but I grew up there in Ohio, Gagia County my whole life, like 30-some years.
And I've had some other friends that would say, you know, that they've seen things to or heard
something while they were there
because I knew a lot of people that lived
around that area that
was close to that
Wayne National Wildlife also
so
Jeff thank you for sharing what you
experienced over the years
I do want to also point out
something about this county it is
right across the river
from Point Pleasant West Virginia
so that kind of puts a whole
you know other spin on it
a lot of people probably know
about Point Pleasant and that area.
Well, this county right across the Ohio River.
So, yeah, there's a lot of weird stuff,
even besides Bigfoot, that's going on in this area.
Yeah.
You know, I grew up.
Yeah, you got the Mothman.
Yeah, the Moth Man and all sorts of weird, weird stuff around that area.
Yeah, I grew up out in Western Massachusetts.
We had a large, large rock out in the woods, out where I grew up in Franklin County.
And allegedly, they had a name.
It was called Waibique and supposed to mean big rock.
Now, I don't know if that was just a story my dad came up with or if that was actually true or not.
But did the locals have a name for this rock area in Wayne National?
Yes, I think they do.
And I'm trying to remember if my memory serves right,
I think they called it chimney rock.
Possibly.
I think I looked it up one time.
It just happened to Google it one day to see if I could, you know,
if there was anything linked to that rock where we were at in that name.
And there's some old stories with that rock that go all the way back to,
I don't know, sometime maybe early 1800s,
something about a family that had stayed there and the wife got ill or something.
And I'm not sure of the story,
But you can look it up.
I'm pretty sure they, the local was named for its chimney rock.
Interesting.
It sounded like it was your buddy, and this was the account that was up by Tycoon Lake.
And so you were able to see these drawings that your buddy's mom was making of the Bigfoot in that area?
Yeah, he brought him to school.
And, you know, it was pretty interesting because, like I said, I didn't even know, you know,
what Bigfoot was when I had my first encounter.
And it just creeped me out because every time I'd go out in the yard, I'd be by myself.
And I was always like one of those get up early kids.
You know what I mean?
I'd be outside sometimes right after the sun comes up or at dawn or whatever.
And I don't know, it was always uneasy playing out in the yard.
You know, I didn't want to go outside much and stay out there very long.
and I don't know.
It just kind of creeped me out after that.
And I really wasn't into, you know, I'd go outside and ride my bike or whatever.
Because we had a big garden.
My aunt lived across the street.
We had a big garden right beside the house too.
They had corn and everything in it.
So sometimes visibility passed a certain spot there.
You know, something could be in the garden around the corn.
You'd never even know it was there.
So I just always had a creepy feeling.
even after that like something was watching me or whatever but i never seen nothing after that
and but that time right there was enough but yeah the kid had drawings and he brought him to
school and showed them to me and they look a lot like you know a lot of the big foot drawings you'd
see than anybody else would do so like the classic pose where it's it's walking you know
the same direction as patty and and all that
Yeah, it was a couple of them.
It was just standing by like a tree in the back corner of the yard.
And I'm pretty sure I think his mom said, or he told me that his mom would, like, leave apples out and stuff for this.
And they would come back and apples would be gone or whatever.
And I've heard that in other stories, too, people leaving stuff out.
But they never didn't say anything about.
That's basically all they said was that his mom.
And I'm guessing she had several encounters because he had, I don't know, 10, 15 drawings that his mama did.
He brought him to school and was showing us all to, you know, all the drawings and everything.
Oh, that's so fascinating.
There must be quite a story behind that.
And, you know, I would even be curious if people listening are from that area, you know, there could even be things going on in that area to this day.
Yeah.
You had said something interesting.
I think I heard it right when you were talking about when you first saw it by your window.
And what age were you approximately again at that time?
I was seven or eight years old.
Okay.
Did you refer to it as a she?
I don't really, you couldn't really tell.
You know what I mean?
Like now with like the Patterson film and all that.
you can kind of really tell that I think, you know, that one's like a female, obviously.
Right.
But now this one, I don't know, I was just so freaked out.
I don't know.
I didn't really pay that much attention when it turned sideways and walked off.
Because when it moved, it really freaked me out.
You know what I mean?
Like, because at first I, it never moved for minutes.
I mean, it didn't twitch, jerk, shake, nothing.
So I really thought it was nothing after laying there staring at it for,
Like I said, now it could I only been two minutes.
Could have been a minute.
You know, sometimes it feels like eternity when you're looking at something like that.
Sure.
When you're looking at it and you can see something through the window,
were you able to see any details of the face?
Or was it more just it was a big solid black mass by that window?
Yeah, it was just a big solid black mass.
Like I've heard people say stuff about like eyeballs, like the eyes were glowing or reflecting or whatever.
There was none of that.
But there wasn't any light coming out of my house at all because the lights were off in the bedroom.
And there was a light out in the yard behind it.
So the whole front of it was just solid black.
You could tell it looked muscular, like really big and muscular.
You know what I mean?
Yeah.
It looked like you could definitely tell.
tell it it was really broad shoulder and you could tell it was huge.
You know what I mean?
Like its head was all the way up at the top of the window.
Like it didn't, its head didn't go above the window, but its head, the top of its head was
at like the top of the window.
Were you hearing it make any noises at all?
Or would you hear strange noises by your house at other times?
No, not really.
I heard it take a couple of steps when it walked away.
And I don't remember really any strange noises or anything after that,
but things would get really eerie and really quiet.
And I think that's kind of what freaked me out too when I'd be outside early in the morning.
Because, you know, early in the morning when you live in the country,
the birds are chirping.
They're going off.
You know, everything is kind of coming awake for the day.
and I'd be outside and there would it just be sometimes it just be really quiet and eerie like you know
absolutely and we only lived there for probably I don't know I'm going to say we only lived in this location for
six to eight months and then we ended up moving back to in the same town we originally lived in
and I don't really remember why we did that because I was kind of young and it was so long ago but yeah I just
I don't know, it had an odd feeling to it when you go outside.
And I was always by myself.
There was no other kids there, you know, so it would just be me outside with my bike.
And I'd get just every now and then it'd get freaked out.
And I don't know, just had a really revive to it.
Yeah, absolutely.
What did your parents think about this whole deal where you'd seen something through your window?
Well, I didn't say anything to my grandma at first about it.
But later on, I told my mom about it, and she was saying, oh, maybe it was a bear or something to that effect.
You know what I mean?
But, I mean, in that area, there's really, especially back then, there's really not a lot of bears.
Now, there is a few every now and then that might come across the Ohio River from West Virginia.
There has been noted some that's come across into Ohio, but really, if you do some research,
really don't, we really didn't have a lot of black bears or anything of that nature.
So, and I don't, I'm just, a black bear wouldn't have looked like to be a standing on
time legs at my window.
You know, like, its arms was down to its side and it just stood there.
Like, I guess, I don't know if it was at the window when I walked by the first time,
because I was like, half asleep, you know, you just wake up and you, you know, you go
use the restroom and you come back.
And we didn't even have no curtains on the window yet on the bedroom window because
we just moved in there, you know, slightly before this.
And you could see the whole, it just took up the whole window except for you
could see over its shoulders.
You know, everything was just blacked out.
And I don't know really what time it was, but it was, it had to have been two, three,
four o'clock in the morning.
Okay.
Sure.
Because it was just really, really late, really dark outside.
How long had this house been vacant for before you guys moved into it?
It was a brand new.
It was all brand new.
We just put it there.
Oh, okay.
It was, yeah, it was like a double wide mobile home.
And my grandma bought it and had it put there.
So there was nothing there.
It was just an open field, and it always had some kind of garden over there, and the rest of it was open.
We just come in and plant this thing in the middle of this field.
You know what I mean?
So the thing was probably like, what is this?
You know what I mean?
No, yeah.
I'm totally getting it now because, I mean, before you're there, it sounds like it's pretty much just a food area.
You know, there's a garden and all that.
And then all of a sudden you guys show up, and it's like, whoa.
what's going on here?
And there's this kid running around and making noise and stuff.
And, yeah, I could totally see something like this happening, man.
That's wild.
Yeah, like I could say, it was like we just, I could see it being curious of what is this.
You know, man, like it was never here before.
So, but yeah, the second encounter was kind of crazy, though, because all, you know,
because, I mean, let's face it, some people.
will you tell about this stuff?
And a lot of people see things
and they don't ever tell nobody.
Because they're just afraid people's not going to believe them.
They're going to laugh at them.
They're crazy.
You know, whatever.
And, you know, all my buddies got a big laugh kick out of it
when I'd ever told them the story over the years.
And then after, so when this happened,
and we were on top of that rock, you know,
after this thing, it'd like vacated the area.
And we couldn't hear walking no more moving things.
the water or anything.
It was almost like we really didn't see exactly what it was,
but we all knew what it was,
if that makes sense.
Because, like, one guy was 50-some years old,
and he'd never been in the woods where everything shut up like that in his entire life.
And it, like, really freaked this guy out.
And we all, like, you know,
and he'll tell you to this day,
he won't go back out there unless he's armed.
Because we've tried to get him to go back out.
there before.
And so, but it was just, like I say, a few miles through the woods.
If you walked straight through the woods, like as the bird would fly, you know, you're going
to come out right there in that field where our house was.
Now, it's going to be probably several miles, but it's going to, you're going to come out
right there.
And so it's pretty interesting.
But I told them all.
I was like, you know, see, I told you.
You know, and then they believed me after that, you know, because.
it really freaked them all out.
Yeah, absolutely.
Growing up in that area,
would you hear any other stories
about weird things that would happen
in that same county as well?
Was it just Bigfoot there,
or were there other things
you would have to keep an eye out for as well?
Well, I never really heard
just a few Bigfoot stories and everything.
And growing up there,
a lot of the stuff you ever heard
was, you know, obviously about the stuff from Point Pleasant like Moth Man and, you know, and all that stuff,
because we were only 12 miles from it in the little town that I grew up in.
So we were in the woods one time.
This was really not related to the Bigfoot, but me and my cousin was in the woods one time,
and this was probably three years after I'd seen that had my first sighting, and we'd moved into this apartment complex.
and we were just out in the woods.
We were kids and curious.
So we went out into the woods and we ran into this guy that was walking through the woods
and he had like a werewolf mask on, like a full-headed.
So you pull down over your head.
And he had like a big knife with him and a black trash bag.
And we didn't.
It freaked us out.
So we just laid down behind some logs.
and my cousin was older than me
and she told me to be quiet
and we just laid down and watched this guy
and he walked up to a tree
set the black trash bag down
and walks off
and we wait like
I don't know 15, 20 minutes
to let him get gone
and we were just shaking
scared to death
you know because we're young kids
we was I don't know
younger I was younger than 10
and she was probably
12 or 13, probably I would say, at that time.
And so we let the guy leave and we go up.
She wanted to leave.
I wanted to look in the bag.
You know what I mean?
So I go over there and I open up the bag and it was just like animal parts in this bag.
You know what I mean?
So that was pretty crazy too.
That's another experience I had in that, you know, in that county in the woods.
So I just want to make sure.
So you saw a dude with a mask on?
Yeah.
Broad daylight.
A knife in a bag full of animal parts.
Yeah.
Oh, boy.
Like, yeah, like we were just walking through the woods and we've seen him from a distance,
like a good distance coming.
And it scared us because, you obviously.
the guy had on like a crazy looking mask.
And my cousin made me duck down and we got down behind some down trees that luckily
they was something to get behind right there close.
And the guy just strolled up through the woods, had a knife in his hand.
I don't, I was, it's been a long time ago.
That was 30 some years ago.
Now, I don't remember if it was a machete or what, but he had a big knife in his hand.
And, you know, he just walked up.
this tree, set this bag down, and kept on walking.
And it wasn't even a big wooded area.
Like this was behind like a residential area, like on the edge of town.
The apartment complex was on the edge of a town.
And then it went into some woods.
And there was a few houses scattered around, around probably, I don't know,
it might have been like 100 acres of woods there, probably.
and that was a pretty crazy experience.
That was like the only other thing I've had besides, you know,
obviously the Bigfoot stuff.
But it was pretty evident that it was definitely a mask he was wearing
and not like a, like a wear-wool-
Yeah, because he had on, right, yeah, he had on like a, you know,
like a jacket or some clothes, right, and pants and boots, you know what I mean?
What time of year was it again?
It was probably,
late summer.
I know it wasn't winter
and I know it wasn't like all the way in the fall yet
because everything was still kind of green.
So it's probably late summer.
Man, that would freak me out.
I mean, I don't know how I'd handle that as a little kid,
especially holding a knife.
Yeah, I never went back into those.
you know, because the woods was like right behind the apartment complex, probably 50 yards.
It went, it was like a grassy hill went down.
There was a little house behind the apartments.
And then it was basically just went into all like probably a couple hundred acres of woods was, you know,
scattered houses way over there somewhere.
And yeah, that was pretty weird, man.
It freaked me out.
And she was even more scared than me.
like after he left i i wasn't as freaking out as bad and more curious you know what i mean like
because i mean why would he be carrying a trash bag in the middle of the woods and why was he doing
what he was doing i don't you know i don't know but oh sure and this was like i say it was broad daylight
this is probably three o'clock in the afternoon that's weird that's that's one of the weird
things I've heard on the show.
Would you, if you
had the, you can make
the decision whether to
see one or
experience being around
one again, would you
decide to do so, or
is that something you would not want to
be involved with?
No, I'm curious.
I mean, I've been out
hunting in the woods a lot
since childhood
when I've seen that.
And since I had the
second encounter too.
And, you know, like,
it wouldn't, I'm not,
you know, I would definitely,
you know, go back out and,
you know, look for
something or, you know, it doesn't
freak me out enough.
Not those, the, what I've
encounters I've had, it's not
scary enough for me to be like, I'm not
going back out there, not doing this.
You know,
but, I mean, if they was,
I would go out and do research,
search or anything like that. It wouldn't
scary enough for me to
stay out of the woods. You know what I mean?
Sure. I'm sure
that you've thought about
these encounters
you're involved with more than a few
times. And what do you think
it is that we're dealing
with when we talk about
a creature like Bigfoot being
out there? Well,
I really, I don't
know. I have thought about it a lot
over the years. And it really, it
interest me. I watch
podcasts and shows all the time about
it. And I have a buddy that
lives in California and he thinks
he's seen one one time in
his yard when he was younger.
He don't talk about it much though.
But I'm not sure.
I thought of
you know, like the same things
a lot of people thought about like
if it's some kind of primate
that we haven't discovered.
But it is kind of really odd though that we
don't have.
we've never found no bodies, you know, things of that nature.
So I really, I really don't know if it's, you know, it's hard to say for sure what exactly it is.
But I've heard all kinds of different theories on it myself, like, and from anything from aliens to they come from the inner earth.
You know what I mean?
Like, I've heard all kinds of stories, so, and well, theories actually on it.
But I mean, there's too many sightings, too many people have seen stuff.
So, you know, I definitely think that there's something out there.
It's just more to be discovered on it, hopefully, in the future.
With technology and everything now, maybe hopefully we can eventually get something figured out about it.
Absolutely.
You know, I personally think it's one of the last great mysteries.
And, you know, as you said, there's just so many, so many reports out there.
people constantly coming forward every single day. I think that with so many reports out there,
there's just too, too many people coming forward. And I think hopefully, maybe even soon,
maybe even, you know, later this year, there's going to be a lot of things coming out this year.
We know from other topics. And maybe this is the year for Bigfoot to come out before the end of the year.
But, you know, we'll see, you know, fingers crossed,
and just keep talking to people.
But Jeff, it has been a pleasure having you on the show.
Thank you for coming on and sharing what happened to you
