Bigfoot Society - Bigfoot Terror in Connecticut — Slaps, Screams, and Eyes in the Dark
Episode Date: August 7, 2025What happens when a lifelong Connecticut resident starts noticing strange voices, broken trees, and something watching from the woods — all just feet from his suburban home? In this chilling and tho...ught-provoking episode, we sit down with JJ Messenger, a witness from Barkhamsted, Connecticut, whose story begins with a mother seeing glowing eyes at the window… and escalates into unexplained gifts, roof footsteps, and strange voices recorded deep in People’s State Forest. JJ shares his years-long journey documenting the unknown — and how it all connects to a mysterious local history of “wild men” dating back to the 1800s. You'll hear stories from Winstead, Colbrook, and the heavily guarded Barkhamsted Reservoir — and a firsthand account of the day something peeked up from behind a log... and blinked. Is it Bigfoot? Is it something more? This episode dives deep into audio evidence, potential paranormal overlap, and the spiritual theories behind these elusive beings. A must-listen for believers, skeptics, and anyone who's ever wondered what's really out there in the woods.Resources:JJ's Youtube channel - https://www.youtube.com/@winstedwildmanresearchReferenced book - The One Who Runs and Hides by Chris Merola - https://amzn.to/3UexcW7 (Amazon affiliate link helps support the podcast)🗣️ Share Your StoryHad a Bigfoot encounter or strange experience?Send it to bigfootsociety@gmail.com – your story might be featured on the show!🎥 Watch & Subscribe on YouTube🔴 Subscribe here → Bigfoot Society YouTube💬 Leave a comment & let us know your thoughts!📞 Leave a voicemail with your story → Speakpipe (Use multiple voicemails if needed)👥 Share this episode → Watch & Share🎧 More episodes → Podcast Playlist🌲 Recommended: New Jersey Bigfoot Encounters💥 Support the Show & Get Perks✅ Join the community on Patreon – Become a Member✅ Listen ad-free & early on YouTube – Join Here📱 Let’s ConnectInstagram: @bigfootsocietyTwitter: @bigfoot_societyTikTok: @bigfoot.society🧰 Tools & Partners I Use (Affiliate Links)These help support the show at no extra cost to you:Beam (Better Sleep): Try BeamWildgrain (Better Bread): Join HereSeed (Probiotics): Get SeedMedi-Share (Healthcare): Learn MoreLMNT (Electrolytes) Free Sample Pack with your first purchase! : Get LMNTOrganic and non-GMO groceries delivered for lesshttp://thrv.me/uarEhS🎙️ Podcasting Tools:Repurpose.io: Try ItDescript: Sign UpStreamyard: Start RecordingRiverside.fm: Try Riverside🎧 My Audio Interface: View on Amazon☕ Buy Me a Coffee – Support Here🛍️ Grab Some Merch – Shop on Etsy📬 Mailing Address:Bigfoot Society125 E 1st St. #233Earlham, IA 50072📧 Business Inquiries:bigfootsociety@gmail.com

You're listening to Bigfoot Society, and I'm Jeremiah Byron.
Tonight's story doesn't come from the Pacific Northwest or the Alaskan wilderness.
It comes from a suburban home in Connecticut, just minutes from grocery stores and paved roads.
But what happened there, what was recorded and what was seen through the window may be the most disturbing account we've heard yet.
Slaps on the walls, footsteps on the roof, and something crouching behind a log watching.
So this is a story of JJ Messenger and what he found in the forest of Barkhamstead.
so stay with us.
321. All right, Bigfoot Society.
You've got the privilege of talking to JJ Messenger today.
JJ's an individual that reached out to me about some interesting things he's experienced over the years in Barkhamsted, Connecticut, after he heard my interview with Chris Reinhart about activity down in People's State Forest, I believe.
and JJ reached out because he was very interested to hear that other people were having things happen in the same area.
So JJ, welcome to the show.
How are you doing, sir?
I'm doing good.
Thank you for having me.
Awesome.
Awesome.
Yes.
I was very surprised and shocked to hear that other people were experiencing things and people stayed forced and that there was active investigators.
going through this area because for the most part, I figured that it was the secret.
It was unknown.
And I lived right on the border.
I moved in the past month, but I lived right on the border of people's state forest.
There's a state forest access road down the street to me.
And I grew up there, and I inherited my parents' house.
And, you know, it's a fairly populated area.
So I would never, ever, ever suspect that there was an unknown, shall we say, species or creature that could exist and stay hidden in this area.
It's a suburban area.
It's got quite a few homes.
I remember doubting my own experiences because I would tell myself,
no, no, no, there's just too many people here.
It can't be.
I've always believed that there are Saskatch or Bigfoot that they would be in the most remote areas.
You know, like the Sierra Nevada or Northern California,
Yeah. I never, ever thought that they could be in Barkhamstead, Connecticut.
And apparently, apparently, there are people reinforcing my experiences.
There are people also having experiences, which that blew me away.
I mean, when I heard your show, that blew me right on my chair.
You know, I was very surprised.
Wow. And, you know, I have, we're talking a little bit off air where, you know, I grew up in Western Mass, so I'm a little bit familiar with this area, you know, Winstead, all that area. And to find out that back in the day, you know, there is actually, as the Winstead Wildman, correct? There is a pretty important historical accounts of Bigfoot being seen back in the 1800s. Is that right?
Yes, 1895.
Several sightings in the town of Colbrook, right by Winston,
several sightings of a hairy, six-foot-tall,
what they call the wild man.
The first sighting was from a town selectman.
Well, not the first sighting, but the most prominent sighting
was the town selectman who was picking berries with his dog.
and out came this hair-covered what they called the wild man.
He screamed, he leapt, he jumped into the forest, and it shocked the man completely.
And he shared his story.
And after he shared this story with the local papers, more and more accounts came in.
Incredibly fascinating.
One of my favorite things is to hear about.
an area where it is active in current day, but then see the historical documents to back
it up that that area has been potentially active for hundreds of years. It's just, it's the
coolest thing to see. But, you know, JJ, I'm very interested to hear, you know, what it was,
you know, feel free to take us back to maybe the first time that you started realizing, okay,
something out of the ordinary is going on in this area that I live in.
Yes, I was a caretaker from my elderly mom.
She, uh, in her 80s and she had various disabilities.
And one night, she told me she saw a pair of glowing eyes in the window looking at her.
And I said to her was.
I'm looking for logical explanations for the glowing eyes.
She said, no, I'll look like a silhouette of a large being.
I knew that she enjoyed watching the show finding Bigfoot along with me.
So I figured that she was letting her imagination get the best of her, right?
So I literally did not take her seriously.
I went out.
I looked for footprints.
I didn't find any evidence of anything.
But if it was as tall as what she was saying,
it would have to be over eight feet tall.
So, yeah, I told her, I don't really believe this,
but I'm going to prove it to you.
Right.
I'm going to set up what's called gifting in the back.
I'm going to put out like a peanut bar jar.
Now, I'm not a big advocate of gifting.
And I wouldn't have started it if I didn't,
if I thought there was even a chance of Sasquatch being back there.
But I set out peanut bar jars,
and I searched around for,
indicators of a possible big foot, you know, with the branch structures and I really didn't see much.
I tried a few hitting trees, you know, back in the day.
All I knew about the research was what I saw on finding big foot.
So I was trying to hit trees to solicit a response and close by.
There was a very loud branch snap.
So I'm like, whoa, you know, I didn't expect that.
to happen so I'm scanning the wilderness close by you know it's all on video I would
always video or audio record everything I'm scanning the forest looking for black
bear because we do have a lot of black bear as a matter of fact people relocate
their black bear to bar camps did that they get in trouble in a more populated town
so yeah it is he
any evidence of any type of wildlife, and I thought that branch stamp was very unusual.
But I left out the peanut bar for a few weeks, and eventually something took the peanut bar after
unscrewing the top and leaving the lid.
And I thought that was highly unusual because, you know, it was black bearer, there'd be
tooth marks all through it.
So I started to get
perhaps a little bit of pause thinking, well,
maybe my mother did see something in that window after all
because I couldn't understand why
I do know that raccoons are very amber dexterous
with their hands.
So I'm still looking for logical
you know excuses for everything
okay the raccoons
took the peanut bar
so
apparently
what I'm doing
is starting to
increase your
conventional
saskatch activity because I'm starting to find
those triangular
branch stick
formations in the woods
and I'm starting to find
large foot impressions
nothing that's really detailed like a foot impression in a mud where you could like count all the toes or anything but instead large indentations in the vegetation in the grass that were human shaped but much larger than my foot and you know being logical I was also thinking okay black bears they have their full
front and back paws overlap, right?
And that can create the illusion.
But the trouble with these foot impressions were,
is that they were much wider than the black bear would have.
They were extremely wide foot impressions.
I have a lot of photographs.
And, you know, I'm still very doubtful.
you know i'm still very skeptical thinking now this can't be you know so i'm still exploring as a
skeptic i start setting out audio recorders in the woods and i start recording what i consider
to be unknown sounds um sounds that are not easily traced to uh black bear fox or or uh any uh
the common wildlife of our area, fisher, you know.
And I'm making a point of trying to familiarize myself
with the common wildlife sounds.
And I'm catching what appears to be like a gibberish,
you know, like a woo, that kind of sound.
And, you know, logical expectations.
well, maybe there are people
while in the woods in the middle of the night
making odd sounds. But
you know, for the life of me,
I couldn't imagine such
a scenario because, you know,
the only
scenario that could
indicate that it was
people was that if they were trying
to prank me. But
no one knew what I was doing.
This was all in private.
You know,
just my mother who
disabled in her wheelchair.
Nobody knew what I was doing, where I was setting recorders.
No one knew the areas I was investigating.
So the idea that someone was pranking me was non-tenable.
And it got to the point where there was activity around the house.
I mean, slaps on the house.
light footsteps on the roof,
which I believe to be smaller
entities
that they would actually go up on the roof
and walk around.
There was one evening
with my mother and I were sitting in the living room
and there was a literal conversation in the backyard
of a low, guttural voice
going back and forth with each.
other. And I'm looking at her like, are you hearing this? You know, I'm just in total disbelief
because this is Park Camps, Connecticut. You know, this is not the Sierra Nevada Range. You know,
this is, you know, for the Sierra sounds, they had to go riding horseback deep into the wilderness
and stuff. And here I'm hearing similar sounds. And if,
very populated area in a fairly populated town in the house that I grew up in.
And, you know, it's just, it became a very strange and surreal experience for both of us.
And she has since passed on, but the few people we did share these experiences were,
did not believe it.
You know, family members or friends
or whatever.
It's obviously a hard thing to swallow.
And people are like, well, you're obviously
misinterpreting or you're obviously mistaken.
But I have many, many, many recordings
of what I believe to be an unidentified
vocals out in those woods.
And I just have no idea
what these vocals are. Now, some of the recordings, perhaps if I had like a wildlife specialist
that I could refer with, you know, perhaps it could help me out on that. But I'm fairly certain
that many of these recordings are your conventional-sounding Bigfoot recordings. I can't prove it.
There was an occasion when I was walking out back to lead more food at the gifting log,
and I saw a small form.
He was about 50 to 75 feet away, and he was behind a fallen tree.
And this small form sat up to attention, and I do have it on video.
Unfortunately, it's kind of a blob.
It always happens right before the whistle.
There's a little voice that says,
what if I mess up?
What if I'm not ready?
I see a whole highlight reel of everything I don't want to happen.
Missed shots, turnovers, letting my team down.
And for a second, there's doubt.
But then, I realize I've done enough to be where I'm at.
The early mornings, the extra reps,
the days I wanted to quit and didn't.
So, I smile.
Self-doubt is natural, but my smile is a reminder that I'm resilient.

on video, you know, because my camera was not of top quality.
But he sat up and there's a few frames in the footage where you can see shoulders ahead.
And you don't see the conventional black bear ears sticking out, especially with the younger black bear.
They had those very prominent ears that come up.
and he ducked back down behind the log and he sat up again
and that's not a conventional black bear behavior of ducking and sitting up
um black bear will climb up at attention and sniff you know the air
but they're not they're not playing like peekaboo you know uh and
whatever this small form ended up doing was crawling close to the ground to retreat.
So I actually didn't see his retreat because of the undergrowth.
But this peek-a-boo behavior was very unusual, very unusual.
And combined with the audio recordings and the various footsteps on the roof and slaps on the house,
and foot impressions in the grass and all right on the edge of people's forests of Barkhamsted.
So when I heard your podcast of a man that was having experiences at people's forest,
I was like, oh, okay, okay, this makes it more substantial, you know.
Absolutely.
When you unscrewed that jar of peanut butter, did it look like anything had reached inside to try to take some out?
Yeah, the peanut butter jars would disappear and the wids would be left behind.
And once in a while, I would find the jars with no toothmarks.
And they would be like cleaned out, spotless, you know, like something brought to the brook.
And there's this little brook that runs out back.
That's very, it's spring fed.
It's fresh water.
It's this very high quality water brook.
And yeah, yeah, the containers should be cleaned out spotless.
And I would also find what I considered to be possible return gifts on my footpath,
like a bird's nest or two birds nests.
a turkey feather and a hawk feather.
The sounds that you've recorded, the gibberish sounds over the years,
are those available anywhere to listen to,
or is that you have those privately in a research collection?
Yes, yes, I put them on YouTube,
but I did take a lot of YouTube videos down
because I kept reworking my channel,
trying to get it more popular
because it wasn't tracking it.
And actually the only attention it was attracting were the trolls, you know, the people that would mock hair, make fun of it.
You know, I wasn't getting that attention from the open-minded audience that were open to the subject.
I am reworking the videos, and I will put the audio, much of the audio back up.
yes that's great
I'm going to soapbox for a little bit
never given to those individuals
there will always be individuals that will
just be putting terrible comments
on your show your channel
and making fun of people
and there's a great feature
where you can mute those individuals
that I have to do that
over and over and over again
it's just
yeah don't let that stop you
from putting stuff up, I would say.
Right, right.
What was discouraging to me was that was the only attention I was getting.
You know, like if you had a fair balance of people going, oh, wow, that's incredible,
or people going, well, BS, you know, there's a balance of reaction, and that's better.
but to only get the skeptical responses was was very disconcerting.
Yeah.
Well, I would say, I would say keep it up, keep putting stuff up, the right people will see it eventually.
Have you ever reached out to Chris yourself after hearing that interview?
No, I haven't.
But I'm very interested in what he's doing.
He's doing a lot of the paranormal side of things.
I do have experiences with the paranormal investigation
because while growing up,
I knew the family of the warings,
and I also knew a lot of their students,
and I've been on investigations with a lot of their students,
like David Kahnstein, for example.
So, yeah,
Yeah, I'm very familiar with the paranormal.
I've attended Catholic exorcisms.
I've been in haunted homes.
I've watched Polde Geist activity.
But I've never approached the Bigfoot subject from a paranormal angle.
You know, to me, this is something physical.
This is something material.
I do know that a lot of people are suggesting that these unknowns,
or if we want to call them Sasquatch or Bigfoot,
I just still call them unknowns,
that they're interdimensional or that they have extraordinary qualities
and abilities, but I have yet to witness that.
what I've experienced so far has been very grounded and down to earth, you know, like an actual physical entity.
That's very interesting. It actually kind of brings up a question I was going to ask you is, so you're having this activity start to happen around the house, slaps on the house, light footsteps on the roof, the conversations in the back.
backyard. Is there anything that is starting to happen inside the house over the years?
No. Okay. Nothing inside the house.
Gotcha. Yeah.
Has there been a time where you have experienced things happening to yourself?
I think if you remember the interview with Chris, he started to have some really interesting
things happen to himself physically, detached retinas, et cetera.
anything like that?
No.
No.
There have been
logical things that have happened
like getting
mind disease from ticks,
you know.
Oh man, I'm sorry.
I've had several flare-ups of those
blind disease rashes and had to be on
antibiotics, but I don't have
any disabilities from, at least so far,
thank God.
you know but um i i haven't had any uh detrimental physical experiences like um some people
suggest that infrasound frequencies or whatever can you cause some detrimental physical
reactions i had i hadn't experienced any of that no gotcha and maybe also asking have have
Have you ever experienced anything where, you know, witnesses will say I started hearing
type of voice in my head or mindspeak or any communication like that?
No.
No mind speak whatsoever.
One thing that I was experiencing now in having a background with paranormal haunted house
investigations, I would record all my walks in the woods and I would get what is typically
called EVP or electronic voice phenomena on those recordings, whispery type messages, you know,
in English. I would get a lot of EVP on those recordings during my walks.
not one EVP
Now it would seem to be
something that the
Sasquot tried to Bigfoot
would want to communicate
because the peanut bar I was leaving
was starting to be ignored
and one EVP suggested
do you have honey
and so I would start to leave
small containers of honey
and the honey would not be ignored, always taken.
So it kind of brings up an interesting conversation
because I think there's overlaps in these two fields sometimes.
And so you have the background of the paranormal research,
but also the background of the Bigfoot research.
And at times you're having things that could be interpreted by either side,
that it could be due to a ghost or spirit or a big foot.
So in the,
and especially you've had some contact with some very,
very intense things over the years.
How do you know then that what you are experiencing
or what you're experiencing
is either related to a potential Bigfoot or a potential spirit?
you know that's a very good question i i still puzzle as to whether a certain phenomena is actually
bigfoot saskatch related or just generally uh spiritual spirit paranormal related um they do overlap
in criss cross and i really sometimes i'm not certain like those evpiespies
recordings in the woods.
I can't say for certain,
oh, that's Sasquatch.
You know, I can't say that.
I don't know.
I mean, it could very well not be, you know.
And when you do get involved in paranormal investigations,
people realize it's in that field,
the more that you're encountering supernatural activity,
not only do you become aware of them,
they become aware of you. So it becomes something that kind of dogs you through the rest of your life.
You know, many of us with this experience, we will have, you know, paranormal or supernatural experiences
sporadically for no rhyme or reason, you know. And it's not because our current living situation is
haunted or
or anything like that.
It's just that apparently
there are certain forces
in the environment that just want
to make themselves known and
they remind you once in a while.
So
that's extremely interesting.
You're saying that also in the
paranormal field
there are people that think
that
you can open yourself up to other
things. It's very similar thinking to what
people think in the Bigfoot field, I think.
Yes.
Wow.
Yes.
And I do think there is a connection between the paranormal and the Bigfoot, but it's not
necessarily as intertwined as what people think.
From what I've seen on the Internet and people that I've talked with on Facebook and
elsewhere, that a lot of people with Bigfoot or Saskatch encounters,
had also had
early histories
of living in haunted houses
or experiencing paranormal things
and there seems to be an overlap.
That could just be a coincidence.
You know,
I, you know, they call it the Wu.
I never was, like, big into subscribing
to the Wu or,
going heavily into that
because to me
my thinking was that this
is unknown species
that that
has this uncanny ability
to stay hidden
and to watch us
but just
this uncanny ability
to not be found
or not be discovered
and, you know, it would take a high intelligence.
Now, I don't doubt for a moment that they do exist.
And, you know, even on my YouTube channel,
I'm calling them unknowns from the forest, right?
Because I'm not saying with absolute certainty,
hey, this is Bigfoot.
This is conforming to a lot of what people report with Bigfoot.
You know, you have branch and tree structures, you have tree knocks and grunts and big foot impressions, you know, very large foot impressions.
Could this be like some kind of paranormal con game or some kind of supernatural which pulled this guy's leg?
well, maybe.
But when I heard that Chris Reinhart was having experiences in People's State Forest,
that just brought it right back home again.
You know, that's my backyard right there.
Yeah, exactly.
And some listeners are maybe going to have the thought where,
well, maybe they're just overlapping and each of them are hearing what the other is doing.
But at the end of the day, you have to remember that it's happening
on the home property as well and to the house and the likelihood that Chris,
Chris or someone else is going to this house and slapping the side.
That's not happening, right?
I mean, I can almost guarantee you not.
No, I don't think Chris knows who I am.
Chris doesn't know who I am.
Yeah, exactly.
What I've done with the forest walks is sometimes I'll offer them a generic prayer.
Right.
now I won't be in the name of Jesus so it'll be more like may our heavenly Father bless you with all good things that sort of thing and I may get a tree knock in response you know so that the tree knock is an affirmation or protest I don't know that that is extremely interesting so you are okay so let me let me work through this so you're not
It's a generic prayer, but you were asking for blessing on the Bigfoot, whatever is out there.
Yes.
Yes.
I try to bring the most positive mentality and communications that I can.
Because sometimes I think they're neutral.
If you bring negativity and suspicion, you're going to get it back.
or if you bring positivity and affirmation,
they'll actually may,
now this is a possibility, I don't know for sure,
but they may actually respond with friendship.
You know, it's a theory.
It's a theory, yeah.
It's fascinating, though.
And, you know, I talk to people from all different walks
and different viewpoints of this subject.
And some people would also say, well, you know, you need to make sure that your frequency is raised up in order to have these connections.
And so I wonder if offering up to that prayer is kind of a way to do that.
I don't know.
There's a lot of speculation there.
But I've never heard of anyone else doing what you just said.
That's very interesting.
Yeah.
Yeah, that was sort of inspired by the fact that.
But, you know, being exposed to the war in style of paranormal investigation, you do bring the faith element into the situation and see how things happen.
Now, I know there was a researcher named Scott Carpenter who believed they were Nepheline, which are descended from apparently fallen angels.
and I'm not sure I subscribe to that view, but I can see the logic of what he's
what he used to propose.
I know he's departed now.
But yeah, some people, they subscribe to the Nephilim theory that these are giants of renown
from the ancient days.
sure.
I really don't know.
I'm very skeptical of that theory personally,
because from what I understand the biblical history,
the Nephling, they were very aggressive and violent.
And these beings in our forests, they are controlled.
Now, quite frankly, they want to,
break into your house that they wanted to force open your door it would be no problem for them it would be like us
pushing on balsa wood you know uh if they wanted to uh do you harm it would be no problem for them to do so
even a well-a-armed rock you know even a well-armed rock would do you win absolutely so they were
aggressive and violent, it would be like no problem for them to enact this, you know, to
compete these actions. And it's like, and someone got struck by a rock in the woods, you know,
no one's going to be, it won't be in the news. So Bigfoot killed someone. It would be like,
oh, a mysterious death, uh, someone found in the woods, you know. So, yeah, I don't think they're
nepheling per se but there might be some connection somewhere down down the line another thing that
uh chris had brought up in his interview um is that they're in that area in in other areas around
the u.s they're picking up on on a weird humming noises or hum noise is that anything that you've
ever heard or experienced in that same area uh no okay gotcha no i have any experience any
Any weird hums.
Okay.
Gotcha.
You know, going out into the forest and when you live so, so nearby, and also we've talked about, you know, being in this subject and getting deep into it can open you up to other things.
Is there ever a time where there could have been something else out there that was not Bigfoot, that was maybe more negative, but also maybe some kind of cryptid?
Yes, yes. I'm totally open to that possibility because I've been
encountered very negative things, you know, paranoically with those haunted house situations.
And actually attending certain exorcisms as a witness, you know, I'm open to the idea
that there could be other types of cryptids maybe causing some of this.
The early mornings, the extra reps, the days I wanted to quit and didn't.
So, I smile.
Self-doubt is natural, but my smile is a reminder that I'm resilient.

be a paranormal or supernatural thing going on.
That's quite possible.
See, I don't know for certain.
I just, I think it's the safest approach to just say, I really, I don't know.
There's all sorts of possibilities.
Absolutely.
Have you ever heard any other people that have had encounters or experiences in the same area?
Yes, yes. There was a friend on Facebook, and she was saying that her brother, who has since died of cancer, unfortunately, that her brother used to work for the Metropolitan Water District.
Now, where I live, it's right near a reservoir, a very large reservoir called by Camstead Reservoir.
and it's no trespassing.
This is an extremely guarded, well-maintained area.
It's a water supply for the Greater Hartford area.
And at night, there are helicopters patrolling this place.
So, you know, nobody can sneak in.
They have infrared thermal vision,
and they'll find you and arrest you if you're near the reservoir.
Well, he worked with the Water District, and there was an access road down to the reservoir.
And it was part of his routine to make sure the access road was secure, you know, with chains and gates and stuff.
And when he would drive down this access road, apparently he would see large human-shaped entities with glowing,
eyes and it scared him so much that he told his sister he was going to quit his job because he couldn't
he couldn't deal with the fact that if he has to go down this access road and see this large thing
in the woods with the bright growing eyes staring at him he's not it was not a situation that he was
comfortable with that is wild i i i've never heard of any activity by that reservoir but it's
definitely something I will, you know, keep in mind, especially being so close to those forests that
we've been talking about before. Thank you for sharing that account. Yes. Yes. And, yeah, I would,
I would never have thought there was anything around the reservoir. And let's face it, they're monitoring
by helicopter. So if there is something around the reservoir, whoever, you know, whatever government
agency is doing the monitoring, they know, they would know.
Some researchers have a certain goal that they keep in mind when they're in this field.
You know, for you, is there a goal that you have in mind when you're trying to find out
more information or maybe get contact with Bigfoot in this area?
Yeah, my goal is to understand exactly what's going on.
Because I currently have like a thousand and one questions that are unanswered.
And I really do not understand exactly what is going on or what they are or why they are in the area.
And also, it's my goal that people be aware of this, you know, that I don't want people to think this is
you know, some crazy lunatic
hallucination type thing
where crazy people
congregate on the internet and share
crazy stories. You know, I want them to
realize that this is
based in reality. That's
why I do always do the audio
recordings in the camera.
You know, because, you know,
when I share that footage, when I share
those recordings, it's like, see,
I'm not, this isn't a matter of someone, you know, being off the rocker.
This is an external phenomena that can be recorded.
I think the public eye has slowly been turning over the years.
You know, you mentioned finding Bigfoot.
I think that has a lot to do with it, you know, that really put it in the public eye.
and then I think as there's more and more media that gets out there
and I would say positive media,
positive shows that actually highlight individuals like yourself,
let them speak what they've experienced.
I think that's very, very important.
There's some great shows out there that are doing that.
And hopefully one day, you know,
a great example of what can happen when the public
really gets behind it is with the
UFO UAP field and
once enough people push
then stuff starts to get released
it may be slowly but it does
start to get released and
just hopefully you know
as we we both go along in our journey
that you know stuff does
continue to get out there I don't think we're at the point
yet but hopefully in the future
maybe people can
contact their
congressmen
are,
you know,
representative and be like,
hey,
what's with the
Bigfoot thing?
Who knows?
That might be fun.
But it's been a fun,
fun chat,
fun time chatting with you
about an area.
You know,
we don't get a lot of
Connecticut episodes.
And so I'm always
glad when someone
is able to talk
about this state.
There is a lot of
weird stuff that happens,
especially in the northwest
corner of the state.
J.J.
I want to make sure that you were able to share everything that you'd want to share today about what you've got going on down there.
Yes.
Yes, I do have a YouTube channel.
It's unknowns from the woods is the current title because I wanted to be very careful with how I frame it,
you know, whether it's paranormal or natural or somewhere where there's a mixture.
I don't know.
I really don't know.
I didn't want to make grandiose claims
like Bigfoot found
or something like that.
I didn't want to make grandiose claims
because, yes, a lot of the things
I've been finding is
what you would conventionally associate
with Bigfoot, you know, the foot impressions
and the branch structures.
And there was one,
broken tree that was impaled
into the ground a couple
feet, you know, like a
fence post.
Like perfectly
90 degree vertical
fence posting
of the tree, which
is kind of hard to picture
occurring in nature.
Because, okay,
you know, say your tree breaks
in nature and
it's going to impale into the ground
when it falls, right?
but it's going to tilt
it's going to
lean off and it's going to
impale and it will
there'll be like damage
to the ground and it won't
look like something that
a road crew did
you know it won't look intentional
but this
impaled tree looked intentional
and clean
and deep
which is bizarre to be
and this is a tree
the normal human being could not let you know so things like that things like that very very strange very
bizarre perhaps there was a one in a million circumstance that created that trees i have no idea but
it's something we're sharing you know it's also on the youtube channel and uh and my name on the
YouTube channel is the Winston Wildman Research Organization. I have a few friends that are helping me with digging into the history of the Winston Wild Band, and perhaps that there's a continuing presence of these supposed wild men.
I know that there are people in the area. There's a man in Colbrook, Norfolk area, who was
wrote a book.
And the title of the book is the one who,
I don't want to misquote the title.
But he wrote a book about the cottage,
the cabin he lived in and all the experiences
that he was having there and how his family and his friends
and all that didn't believe him either.
So, you know, it can be a lonely thing
to experience this type of thing
because people will not believe you
or don't think that you're just being strange,
you know.
But the more mainstream we can make this,
the better, I think, for everyone.
Like, currently we have Pentagon officials
on the floor of Congress
talking about these unidentified flying objects.
Oh, yeah.
And just a couple of decades ago,
that would have been unthinkable.
that would have been unthinkable people would be like no no no no swamp gas right so yeah we have to make
it more acceptable more mainstream that people are experiencing these things and they're not all
you know what they would consider mentally or emotionally compromised oh sure is that book one that
was recently released or is this an older book
it's an older book
it was released like 15 years
ago the one who runs
and hides I think it's titled
you know
referring back to an old
Native American
name for the
Sasquodge
I may be misquoting
just so people
are something in that
in that general idea
you know the one who runs in
hides
no i found that as well uh it looks like it's written by chris marola so yeah that's it
maybe another good uh lead to follow so thank you for bringing that up and uh that that that could be
fun so well chris oh in the uh sorry jj and the other thing i wanted to ask you is uh is there a way
that people can reach out to you if they you know uh have questions for you or do you kind of just uh you know you've
the YouTube channel and that's good.
Yeah, I had the YouTube channel.
They can email me at Merr Medicine.
That's M-E-R-M-E-S-S-E-S-E-S-E-N at Hotmail.com.
And, yeah, anyone who wants to get in contact,
I did a Hartford radio show.
You know, a Saturday afternoon radio,
show talking about these experiences and I've been reaching out hoping that people would be interested
and hoping people would join my my group and help me get to the bottom of things you know
it's fantastic JJ will definitely need to uh to stay in touch uh it's a it's an area of the country
as I was saying you don't hear a lot about but when you do hear about it it's very interesting
but thank you so much for spending some time this afternoon and for talking about us for talking to us about the uh bigfoot activity in this area of connecticut
yes thank you very much just want to take a minute to say thanks for listening to this episode of the bigfoot society podcast jj's story is one that stays with you not just because of the voices in the forest or the slaps on the roof
but because it happened in a place no one thought bigfoot could be so huge thanks to jj for sharing decades of research and courageously over
opening up about what he and his mother experienced in Barcampstead.
