Bigfoot Society - He Heard It During the 1977 Bigfoot Flap Near Little Eagle, South Dakota
Episode Date: September 4, 2026In 1977, Hal drove six hours north to the Standing Rock Reservation after reports of Bigfoot activity around Little Eagle, South Dakota began appearing on television and in newspapers.Late one night, ...alone at his campsite near the river, Hal heard something approximately 600 feet away.Three shorter sounds. Then an incredibly loud, prolonged wail.Within moments, dogs in the nearby village erupted. Coyotes on a ridge joined them. Nearly 50 years later, Hal still remembers exactly what that sound did to him.His story continues on his rural Mississippi property, where years of unexplained activity have included enormous partial tracks, strange nighttime snorting, an unusual skunk-like odor, possible animal mimicry, recurring wood knocks, mysterious objects, and fleeting black movement through the brush.Hal also shares an extraordinary childhood memory from the Mid-South Fair in Memphis: seeing what he believes was the original Minnesota Iceman—and returning later to find a very different figure inside the ice. From Little Eagle and the Standing Rock Reservation to Mississippi, Memphis, Mount Hood, and Alaska, this is one man's decades-long journey through the Bigfoot phenomenon.Listen to the full episode of Bigfoot Society and hear Hal tell it in his own words.Resources:Mississippi Skunk Ape video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xb9YcIlkl_cBigfoot without Spam FB group - https://www.facebook.com/groups/626955989764470📖 Follow Jeremiah's cancer health updates here:https://www.caringbridge.org/site/569ef3d3-68be-11f1-8790-97fdfd2bbc64🗣️ Share Your StoryHad a Bigfoot encounter or strange experience?Send it to bigfootsociety@gmail.com – your story might be featured on the show!🎥 Watch & Subscribe on YouTube🔴 Subscribe here → Bigfoot Society YouTube💬 Leave a comment & let us know your thoughts!📞 Leave a voicemail with your story → Speakpipe (Use multiple voicemails if needed)👥 Share this episode → Watch & Share🎧 More episodes → Podcast Playlist🌲 Recommended: New Jersey Bigfoot Encounters💥 Support the Show & Get Perks✅ Join the community on Supercast – Become a Member✅ Listen ad-free & early on YouTube – Join Here📱 Let’s ConnectInstagram: @bigfootsocietyTwitter: @bigfoot_societyTikTok: @bigfoot.society🧰 Tools & Partners I Use (Affiliate Links)These help support the show at no extra cost to you:Beam (Better Sleep): Try BeamWildgrain (Better Bread): Join HereSeed (Probiotics): Get SeedMedi-Share (Healthcare): Learn MoreLMNT (Electrolytes) Free Sample Pack with your first purchase! : Get LMNTOrganic and non-GMO groceries delivered for lesshttp://thrv.me/uarEhS🎙️ Podcasting Tools:Repurpose.io: Try ItDescript: Sign UpStreamyard: Start RecordingRiverside.fm: Try Riverside🎧 My Audio Interface: View on Amazon☕ Buy Me a Coffee – Support Here🛍️ Grab Some Merch – Shop on Etsy📬 Mailing Address:Bigfoot Society125 E 1st St. #233Earlham, IA 50072

You're listening to Bigfoot Society and I'm Jeremiah Byron.
In this show, we go beyond the campfire stories to bring you first-hand encounters from people who say they've seen something impossible.
From backwoods trails and remote mountain haulers to quiet farms and crowded highways, the stories come from everywhere, and each one leaves us with more questions than answers.
These are the voices of the people who've lived it.
So settle in because today you'll hear another account that just might change the way you see the woods forever.
So stay with us.
Please keep Jeremiah in your prayers as he continues his fight against cancer.

Thank you.
All right, Bigfoot Society, you've got the privilege of talking to Hal today.
Hal is an individual you got connected to who has had experiences over the years and he's from down there in Mississippi.
But welcome to the show.
Hal, how are you doing today, sir?
Thank you.
That's pretty good today.
Cudy. Awesome, awesome. So yeah, Mississippi has some stuff going on in it, for sure. I've talked to a few individuals over the years, but your experiences, I know at least one of them happens outside of that state. So we'll be traveling around a little bit in our conversation.
But what was the main thing that introduced you to Bigfoot in the beginning, Hal?
Well, I read a Reader's Digest, condensed article in 1969 when I was 12 years old, and I was a believer from day one.
My dad and I went to see a movie that I was kind of a documentary about it, and he was determined that Patty was nothing but somebody dressed up in an eight costume.
He never believed in it.
I don't know what he thought I encountered later on when I told him about it, but never accused me of lying.
My son, it's not really a believer either.
Just thinks I mistook some other animal, but that wasn't possible.
That's really interesting.
So you were, man, your age 10 when the Patterson Gimlin film is film then using that.
So do you remember that in the papers or people talking about that?
No, the first I knew was the condensed article in Reader's Digest.
It had clips from the Patterson Gimlin film in it.
And the movie, I don't remember the name of the movie, I don't think you would ever see it.
now. I think the government's probably taken that one out, but they had some government footage in there, actually. But the movie was the only live action that I saw on there. Now, later, when I went South Dakota, there was a lot in the newspaper that was in 1977, and I was seeing a lot on TV about it. It's time, too.
So that's that's really interesting.
So you're saying there's actual, the footage you remember seeing in this documentary in the theaters,
there was, there seemed to be government footage of some sort.
Can you go into that, what that would entail?
Yeah, actually, I would say that was one of the best pieces of footage I've ever seen.
And of course, that was back before the days of AI.
It was filmed somewhere around the same time frame as a Patterson Gimlin film.
It was brief, but it was from a plane, and it was taken of a big foot in the Everglades, just walking there.
And later, when the internet came out and I started talking to people in some of these groups,
I couldn't find anybody who had seen it.
And finally, one guy turned up, and he said that actually that piece of footage was filmed right not too far from where he lived.
And he said, nobody with any sense, or nobody would have been able.
able to be walking around in a hot suit out there in the Everglades where it was full of
cotton mouse and alligators at the time. But I have looked and I have looked for that piece
of footage and it's just gone. But it was government footage and it was in that movie and I can't
find the movie, but I don't remember the movie's name either. Okay. That is, that is fascinating.
It sounds like a new mystery. Maybe a listener can reach out if they know the specifics about that.
I've never heard of that footage myself, so I'm really interested.
Also, we mentioned groups a little bit.
I do want to say that you are also the administrator of the Bigfoot without spam Facebook group,
and I'll have links to that in the show notes of the episodes.
So listeners can check that out.
So, how you are, you're at definitely the right age to find out about Bigfoot, age 12.
So how did that affect you as you continued to grow up?
Well, my first thought was I'm going to be the first person to prove that it exists.
And my next door neighbor was a year younger than me, and he was going to be my partner in it and all that.
But as time went on, I learned there were already a lot of people out there in the field already trying to do that at the time.
But then when I got up to South Dakota, I was 20, and I was starting to hear all this stuff on the news on TV.
I was in Rapid City, and the sightings were up on Standing Rock Radio.
reservation around Little Eagle, South Dakota.
And it was about six hours from where I lived.
I had broken both my arms riding in a rodeo.
I'd gotten the cast off, but I still wasn't gone back to work.
And so I just decided to drive that six hours north and go up there and I see what I
could find on the reservation there.
It was quite an experience.
That was where I did have my first encounter, at least with a live one anyway.
Oh, my goodness. I would love to hear about that. So you're on the reservation. Are you also talking to people that have had experiences, too, in addition to having your own?
Well, I did some. In fact, I went to the trading post. The guy's name was Gary Alexander that ran the trading post.
And he had some recorded audio of the thing, howering was a little bit different from what I heard when I was there.
And they had some plaster castings of the footprints.
So that was the closest I'd gotten there at the time.
And I was camped out by a river just sleeping in my truck, pickup truck, and some people from
they were magazine writers told me about a little hunt that was going on and invited me to come
along.
So I went with Gary and several other guys.
I don't remember their names.
We went up on a hill and we had this really expensive sniper scope that was used in Vietnam
that belonged to the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
and it lit up everything at night, and we were watching through it.
And some of the people down below, we were way up high on a ridge.
They had a campfire going, and actually had a female menstrual napkin.
They were trying to use to attract one in some way, and they said it was attracted campfires and women and all that.
We stayed out quite late, and then the people from the magazines, they decided,
to go home, everybody took a break. I went back to my own campsite where the guys went back up on the
hill, and I was laying there in my truck. I just laid down, rolled up the window to go to sleep,
and I heard something hoar, and I jumped up and I rolled my window down. I would guess it was probably,
oh, at least 600 feet away from me, maybe a little more than that. It's hard to say because it was so
loud, but it was what I would describe. Well, there was three shorter sounds, and then the really
long blast, and it was kind of between a how and a whale, and it was kind of high-pitched.
I have heard the same sound produced on YouTube, maybe twice. All the others were deeper, and they
say that's the difference in a female and a male. The one I heard was apparently a female. But
back to the trading point.
and told them about it the next day, and they, I thought they were closer to it than I was,
but they said they thought they heard it. So I guess I was a lot closer. I think it was probably
calling to its mate. It didn't sound threatening or anything like that, may or may not have known
where I was. And I also walked around. I found where some of the plaster castings had been made.
Nobody had told me. I just happened on them. And they were not in places you would think
somebody would have faked it, but looking at them, they didn't look fake at all anyway.
Usually fakes are a lot smoother than that.
Absolutely. You can definitely tell, you can tell the fake ones pretty good.
Well, I agree, but that's a different story.
So did this ever get published in a magazine then, this whole account?
Not that I can remember anyway.
It's been a lot of years back.
I didn't have contact with the people that had been there earlier.
It would have been nice if they would have followed me out to my campsite at that point in time.
They would have heard it too, but they had already gone back home.
And I think I was the only one that had a real good hearing of it.
Now, after it finished hollering, all the canines in the area,
there were a lot of dogs in the nearby village.
They just started going crazy.
And I could even hear some coyotes up on a ridge nearby.
I mean, it got all of them stirred up.
The wild ones, the tame ones, you name it.
But it stirred them up.
And I've heard accounts where people said everything went silent.
But I've heard other people say when they heard it, the canines went crazy too.
And that was my experience.
The canines went crazy.
That's interesting.
And this is, this would be around 1977.
Exactly, 1977.
You will find on YouTube accounts from that time frame.
You'll find some of my comments and some of them too.
But they talked quite a bit about it.
Like I say, it was in the newspapers then.
I'd probably still have the newspaper clippings if I'd go digging through some of them.
And it was on TV quite a bit.
That was what made me go up there.
Yeah, absolutely.
For some reason, I mean, if listeners do just a little bit of work,
they will find so many Bigfoot reports from the late 70s.
I mean, in Iowa alone in 78, there was a massive amount of Bigfoot encounters.
And I think that was nationwide, really, for some reason.
There was a lot of Bigfoot activity happening.
Okay.
I didn't know about, you about the one where I was.
So then you have this experience where you have, you know, you hear the vocals.
and did this just even light the fire under you even more,
or how did that affect you after that?
Well, I'd say it probably littered even more.
I didn't have time.
I'd already been there for several days and nights,
so I had to go back home at the time.
But I will say when I heard the sound,
the hair on my neck stood on end,
I can't say it was really frightening.
I really wanted to go out and look for it,
But I was afraid to, not because I was afraid of the creature, but I always had a fear of getting lost in the dark at night because I did that one time camping.
I just had to stop and sleep under a tree and go find my stuff the next morning, which was not a problem.
But I wouldn't go out there.
But I didn't feel threatened or anything by the sound.
As I say, I don't even know if it knew I was there, but they hadn't been aggressive to anybody in that area.
So I didn't see a reason to be afraid.
gosh, was this a thing where after this happened, you were talking to people on our reservation,
hey, did you hear this as well last night? Did you have any conversations that were like that?
Just the one person there at the trading post that people that have been looking for it that night were the only ones that I actually talked to.
But in my time of trying to find one, I did go to Oregon.
I believe that was 1979, but I didn't find anything.
And then I went on up to Hyder, Alaska, and I was told that someone had seen one there,
but I didn't see one, and I didn't hear one either.
Wow, that's really substantial.
I mean, you're in your early 20s still, and you're just like, let's go for it.
Oregon and Alaska, that's really, what part of Oregon did you go to?
Let's see.
I was on Mount Hood.
National Park for the main place.
I traveled by motorcycle that trip, and I went on up through all the way through, but I was mainly camping on Mount Hood.
And same thing, when I got up to Alaska, I was still, that was all one trip.
And a friend of mine, I asked him if anyone had seen one up there, and he said, yeah, there were some guys that were bear hunting, and they had a bead on what they thought was a bear.
and it turned around and they just freaked out.
And they didn't shoot.
I don't know if it's because they freaked out
or if they didn't want to shoot a big foot
or what their motivation was for not shooting.
They had it in a scope.
They were apparently not real close to it.
And I don't think it saw them from what I was told.
I didn't actually get to talk to the guys, but...
Okay.
That is fascinating.
So when you went out to Oregon,
were you doing connecting with any researchers out there?
You're just going out by yourself into the woods
see if you can find some activity.
I was strictly by myself there.
I had read up on it.
And at that time, they were saying that Oregon
was one of the main places where people had encounters.
So that was why I chose Oregon at the time.
Oh, absolutely.
I mean, and Mount Hood National Forest,
I mean, that is really the epicenter of Oregon for Bigfoot encounters.
I mean, you have just outside of Mount Hood, like Lolo Pass and Estaceta and all, I mean, around the entire mountain, really, there's stuff that goes on even to this day.
So then did you take the highway that goes up through British Columbia to get up to Alaska?
I did do that, at least a good portion of it.
Now, at the time, most of it was gravel.
Wow.
Yeah, that was before.
That's a wild.
That's a wild adventure in itself, Hal.
My goodness.
Okay.
So, so you are, you're not just an experiencer.
I mean, you're really someone who has,
maybe not written them down,
but you've documented some in sightings over the years as well.
So after Alaska, was it then, you know, you hear this conversation about what happened up in Alaska, then did you stay there for a while?
Or did you go all the way back to your origin there?
Well, I only stayed maybe a month, if that long. I can't really remember.
And then I headed back. I was living in Houston, Texas at the time.
I stayed there a total of five years.
I got married and had a son.
And then we moved back here to Mississippi, where I live now.
This is the same house right now that I finished growing up in.
Most land is my grandmother's estate.
But my parents and I moved into this house in 1972.
Okay.
Okay, gotcha.
Now, I know from talking to a few people that there are definitely areas in
Mississippi where there's Bigfoot activity.
When did you start to learn that the Bigfoot activity is not just in Oregon, but it's also in my state of Mississippi as well?
Well, I had read, even as a kid, that there had been sightings everywhere from Alaska on down into South America on pretty much every state.
I didn't really put a lot by it, though.
I just thought they were mainly in the northwest.
And I never thought about them being here now later.
When I got on the Internet, YouTube and all that,
I learned about some just a few hundred miles from me in Mississippi
of common encounters.
And when I really got into it deeper,
there is a video on YouTube called Mississippi Skunkake,
And that right outside of tunic.
A tunic is only maybe 40 miles from where I live.
And as tall as they are, they say that they travel very quickly.
One of the encounters I had could have been the same one.
I don't know.
But I saw that.
And even right at that point in time, I didn't think as much about it until some crazy things started happening right here around my house.
Before we get into that, because I definitely want to do that.
because I definitely want to get into that.
But that video, and I'm going to try to find it and link to it in the show notes,
is that the one where they film, it like stands up and it's breaking stuff,
but it's in the swamp, that one?
Yeah.
That one's pretty wild.
And it was sitting down or squatting with its back turned to the camera,
and then the guy made a sound by accident and it got up,
and the man that was filming, it ran away.
that's really interesting were you able to you know being a local to the area were you did you ever look into that video to see if you could figure out who filmed it or get any information about it no i never did i don't remember if the man gave his name or not when i heard it i mean i have looked at it a lot of times i considered to be one of the better videos myself i really believe the paterson gimbling film was
real, but there's so much controversy and so many claims about it being fake and all that,
that if somebody wants to know about something, I don't use it as an example.
And I tend to lean towards the Mississippi Skunkate.
I wanted to use the one in the Florida Everglades because that one was really good.
But like I say, that was government footage and you don't find it anymore.
I would love to see that one.
Hopefully someone can track it down.
But I don't think the Mississippi Scuncathes.
Gunncape video has ever been debunked.
I don't remember seeing any videos like them.
Maybe someone can put in the comments if they've heard of that.
But that doesn't come up when people are talking about hoax videos.
Yeah, I think you're totally right on that because I've looked at it so many times.
And I've looked at analyses of it and various things, but none of them have come up with anything to indicate it was debunked.
And the way it stood up, I mean, the Cypress Swamp, you know it's not a guerrilla in Africa.
that somebody filmed.
So I have seen video people put on there as Bigfoot,
and they were really filmed gorillas in Africa.
Probably taped them off of TV.
I've seen some of those as well.
So take us through how, when, how did that happen?
It sounded like there was a point when you started to realize,
hey, this stuff is happening closer to me than I even could imagine.
Well, I had started reading and watching YouTube videos and seeing a lot of activity in Arkansas, which Arkansas is just like one state over.
It's not, in fact, I'm not really very far from the Arkansas line, maybe 60 miles at the most.
And I would see things around here, Tennessee, Arkansas, Louisiana, and of course, Mississippi, and Alabama, just all the states.
And I was reading about that.
and got my interest in it, but I still didn't think anything about encountering one of my own property around here.
I do live out in the country.
There's plenty of place for one to hide, although in hunting season,
and I've never had anything too suspicious during hunting season,
but there are a lot of people out here in some of these woods,
because there's a number of gun clubs and things like that right in my neck of the wood.
woods, but not on my own property. And like I say, there's still plenty of room. But some,
I have read some accounts that say they're rather nomadic. And that would make some sense.
But if they eat deer, which they say they do, or we have an overabundance of deer here.
Yeah, that would line up. I'm thinking of one of the other Mississippi interviews I've done with a guy named Joe Flippo.
And he, man, he has had some wild sightings of Bigfoot actually running down deer and just, you know, flinging them around, ripping legs off, just wild, wild national geographic stuff.
So that really lines up with what I have heard before.
So you were, are you saying that you've had activity on your property then or just kind of close by to your property?
It's been on my property, I'm afraid.
You might find it more boring because I didn't really get to see one unless it was a little black flash that I saw, which I couldn't identify.
That's all most I've seen.
I've been told by somebody that's probably all you will see of them.
But I don't know.
I couldn't tell you what the black plashes were going from one bush to another, so to speak.
but one brush area.
But the first thing that really was suspicious,
I got out of my truck one night, about 1130,
parked it in the driveway.
And I don't know why I was walking that direction,
but instead of walking towards the house,
I started walking a little more towards the woods.
Woods were right by the fence.
And something started to snorke.
And it wasn't making too good a sense.
since because it didn't sound like a deer. Bears have made a little bit of a comeback. I never heard
a bear snort. I have been around bears when I was in Alaska. But this sounded strange and it wasn't
stomping. I've never heard a deer snort without stomping. But I wrote it off as a strange deer and I went
in the house. And later some things got me to wondering if it was maybe a big,
put just telling me he didn't want me coming in that ticket where it was.
I can't say for sure.
But one week later, exactly one week, about the same time of night, I got out of my truck,
and I smelled something that I never smelled before.
It smelled like a skunk mingled with something else I couldn't identify.
And, of course, down here, a lot of people call them skunk apes.
And all of them has said they smell like a skunk mingle with something else.
Now, a lot of them say it's really obnoxious and awful.
In this case, it wasn't that bad.
However, I questioned if maybe it had already left and the smell was just lingering,
or if rained the night before, maybe it had a shower, so it didn't smell so bad.
I don't know what the deal was.
But it was very strange.
The dogs that were outside, I didn't leave mine out, but my neighbors had two outdoor dogs
and had some outdoor cats.
none of them seemed alarmed or anything like that.
I never felt threatened even by whatever was in the thicket that night,
Norton.
I just saw it, didn't want me to come in there.
Definitely wasn't a pig.
Somebody asked me if I knew what they sounded like.
Yeah, I sure do.
But anyway, that was all that happened right at that point.
Well, somewhere in that same time frame,
something got into my neighbor's trash can.
Trash can is about four feet tall, which be chest high on the average person.
They scattered the garbage within a 10-foot radius.
Really, there's nobody around here who would have done that.
But the big thing, even if a bear or a big dog or something like that,
would scatter the garbage in a 10-foot radius, which they wouldn't,
they would not have got into it without tipping the can.
Whatever did this, opened the can.
and did not tip it.
And unless it was people really putting forth an effort,
taking the time to make sure it got scattered that far,
I mean, if it was a person rifling through it,
he's going to toss it out closer to himself.
The person's arms is just not that long.
Bottom line, it really had to be something
that was really tall with a long arm span going through it.
So I had a pretty good idea of what it was.
And then again, in that time frame, it was somewhat afterward.
I had sold a lot of the timber off my property, so a part of it had gotten kind of cleared.
And I was walking down towards a pond one day, not even thinking about anything.
And all of a sudden I see a partial track with four toes in it.
They look how human-like.
but with just the four toes in the track,
and it did have a little bit of the front pad of the foot too,
but just with those four toes, it was wider than my boot.
I didn't get a picture that day because I didn't have my camera.
It rained on it before I got a picture, but I did take one later.
Well, about a week later I was down there,
and I see another one.
It looks like it probably has five toes in it.
It's about the same size as the other track, but it's a little different.
Someone suggested that it might have actually been fingerprints there.
And when I look real close, I could see a line or two, not real clear.
But Dr. Meldrum had said that only people have these things.
He was equating the Bigfoot fingerprints as being human-like when he was talking.
about it. And I could see a few little lines in there. I mean, they were basically smudged,
but it appeared there was a print in it. And because they were partial, they were inconclusive.
Dr. Meldham saw it, the picture, I mean, and so did several other experienced trackers.
Some of them, at least one guy thought it was a very good possibility that they were left by a
big foot, but because they were only partial prints, they were not conclusive or anything. You couldn't
swear to anything like that, but that really got me going there.
And I did another night.
Prior to that, I had COVID.
That was in 2020.
I stepped, I looked out my door.
I opened it, and I thought I heard one power over by my barn,
but I was too sick to go hot and look for it.
But it sounded like it was trying to imitate a canine,
but it didn't sound quite like a canine.
And this is something else I've read about.
or seen on YouTube, people say that they do try to imitate other animals,
but they always sound just a little bit different.
And that's the way I would describe that, a canine that wasn't quite like a K-9.
Oh, sure.
And that lines up with, I mean, I've even experienced this myself,
where you hear from people witnesses where it sounded like this,
but it was like they could, it couldn't quite do it.
And I've heard that about ducks, frogs,
Owls, I mean, anything, man, across the board.
It's the weirdest thing.
How, what would you estimate the length of the tracks that you found and took pictures of to be?
Well, well, as far as linked, you couldn't get the link in it.
You don't get the width of the toes.
I actually found them three different times.
There were some slide marks where obviously the same creature because they were the same
spread was walking up a hill and hit a little ledge and his toes like scraped the ledge.
And I want to say they were probably, well, just four toes in the track, they were wider
than my own boot.
But they were at least six, probably more than six inches across.
I think I measured.
I can't remember now.
It's been too long, but they were big.
They were bigger than a person, and somebody tried to say a person could have done that.
Well, out there where they were, the tracks would have been bloody because you couldn't walk barefoot around there.
And nobody was walking around there.
I mean, people who were not there that don't believe, they've always got a very good counter explanation.
But if you're there, some things you just know that the other people don't know.
Absolutely. How close to your house would you experience activity?
Well, the snorting and the smell, I was right in my driveway. I mean, it was very close.
Yeah. Wow. Yeah.
Would you ever talk to your neighbors about things that were going on or like, hey, are you guys experiencing anything weird to, stuff like that?
Well, none of them have ever said anything, but I was talking to the one that had the garbage can that got garbage scattered.
And I told him that I believe there was a big put around there.
He didn't tell me anything to indicate that he didn't believe in them.
He's a hunter.
He's in these hunting clubs and all that.
And we were talking about the garbage can.
And he said, a dog, something couldn't have done that.
You know, he was agreeing with me.
it had to be something really tall.
And, I mean, there's nobody around here, but me and him, really.
And it wasn't me.
Now, I had another strange, unexplainable thing happened one day.
I found a piece of copper pipe.
It was my pipe.
It had been moved about 15 or 20 feet from where I had left it and stuck in the ground.
But it wasn't stuck straight down like a person.
walking around and they stick something into the ground.
It was stuck diagonally.
And what was extremely strange about it was down really low.
If a person, a big foot or anything else,
it wasn't extremely short, was going to do it.
He had to get down really low and then shove it to the ground kind of sideways.
And it was in the dry ground so deep that I couldn't turn it with one hand.
Not like a person would have put it in there.
It was over kind of behind some bushes right in the very corner of my yard.
I mean, it's in my yard.
And it was weird, but I said, well, what sense does this make?
I mean, first, I knew it wasn't a person, but even if it was, I mean, what sense did it make that a person would do it?
It made about as much sense that a Bigfoot would do it.
It even made about as much sense that a ghost would do it.
Yes, I believe in ghosts, but why?
Right.
I can't figure out what would have done that because you'd have to get down really low.
And I have heard of people claim that there's some little bitty short creature like a Bigfoot,
but I've never had any experience with them.
I don't know what did there.
And then not terribly long after that, I found this, I can see it on here.
It's an edge finder.
I've been out for a while.
I could tell that.
But it was right in front of my shed.
Thing is, I'd never seen it before.
I was so unfamiliar with this type edge finder.
Now, I do the type work I use edge finders, but I never seen one like this.
And I thought it was some kind of a strange remote to something,
and I put it online, and somebody told me it was an edge finder, and I found it.
That's what it is.
But I questioned if maybe one of them was gifting it to me.
There are no tooth marks on it, like a four-footed animal picked it up in his teeth and brought it over to my house and laid it in front of my shed there.
It didn't, I don't know.
I don't know where it came from.
I'm sure a person would have put it in.
Yeah.
I mean, it lines up with stuff you hear how, where it's like, you know, you'll be an individual gifted something and they'll be like, oh, that kind of has to do with something.
I said a few days ago or like something I do for a profession.
And like that is very, very strange.
But I mean,
it's not the first time I've heard of stuff like that.
Man, that's crazy.
Yeah,
I don't know how Bigfoot would know what I do or what I use.
But I don't know.
I can't, you know,
I didn't see who left it there.
All I know I was laying there,
it wasn't in a place where a person would have put it.
And I'd never seen it before.
But it did show up around some of the other strange activity.
time frame so and right after i came back from the big foot festival in west virginia oh okay that's
that's awesome the big one up there yeah yeah it's pretty big it's nice i'm gonna try to make
yeah that's i hope i can't that's a big year's yet so is so the activity you're experiencing
around your property is that happening to current day or did it just happen for like a certain
time period. I haven't, well, let's see. Well, it doesn't, definitely not day by day.
The first that I really noticed and I started to equate was in 2020. And then the last was probably, I want to say,
2024, almost the last.
This is strange, too.
When I was growing up out here,
I used to hear three wood knocks very commonly.
I wrote it off, I just assumed,
way back before I even knew a Bigfoot had ever heard of one.
And I would hear him,
and I would think somebody's driving a nail on a barn wall
to hang a bridle or a rope on.
but when I think about it now, because I heard one not terribly long ago, I don't know if it was this year or last year, but it wasn't that long, but I heard the three wood knocks, and it didn't sound like it was really coming where any buildings are, but Lord, all the wood knocks I heard when I was a kid growing up, somebody would have had their barn wall full of nails by now.
And then there was a sound.
I can't really describe it exactly.
But I grew up hearing the sound.
It was always around dusk.
And it was always in a distance.
And I kind of wrote it off as being a bird.
I didn't really think that much about it at the time.
Later, I was thinking about maybe it was coming from the pumping station.
But in the last few years, I got to thinking about it.
In fact, I heard it again.
It hadn't been that terribly long since I heard this sound either.
But I got to thinking about it and I said, wait a minute.
I don't know of any birds that make a sound like that and it's not coming from the pumping station either.
So it makes me question if they have been around here pretty much all my life and just nobody knew or said anything about it.
Sure.
That's fascinating stuff.
My goodness.
So a question, kind of unrelated, but more, it's when I talk to people from Mississippi,
the podcast years ago used to be more about other cryptosology in general, and then I transferred
things over to just Bigfoot.
But back in the day, I had a lot of interviews, a few interviews with a young lady name
Missy Lee Sterling from Mississippi, and she has some really interesting encounters about creatures that would be seen in Mississippi.
It looked like a pale figure, really skinny.
Is that anything that you have heard of living down in that state or not really?
Well, I have read some, I don't know if it was Mississippi, at least one I read about in Alabama.
but I have read about what people would describe sounded more like a white, bigfoot.
Some of them were described as being slender rather than really big and bulky, like the majority.
Okay, gotcha, yeah.
Close and perfect.
Northeast Alabama.
Interesting.
Interesting.
Personal enough to describe.
But now I did see the Minnesota Iceman when I was about 20.
I believe that's what it was.
I never heard it call that.
But I can tell you, some people said,
all that got debunked, it was plastic.
Well, guess what?
There were two of them.
And one of them, the first one was not plastic.
I couldn't see it as well as some other people saw it before I did,
but I have read testimonies from some that got a better view.
But what I saw, I could see it was definitely a body in the ice.
The reason I couldn't see it quite as well, especially the face, there had been a partial meltdown, and it was shot in the eye, and some of the bull had floated out and frozen, so I didn't have as clear view of the face as I might have.
But I knew the smell.
You could smell it then, and I knew the smell because growing up in the country, I used to pick up roadkill and freeze it freezes some of the inside parts and chop it up small pieces.
feed it to fish in an aquarium.
So I knew what frozen blood and gunk smelled like.
And no, that wasn't plastic by any means.
And I went back maybe one or two years later to see what I was looking to see the same thing again.
And it was definitely replaced with a fake.
So really, oh, that is extremely interesting.
So was that like at a county fair in Mississippi or where was that out?
The Mid-South Fair was in Memphis.
Okay.
Oh, my goodness.
That is extreme.
Were you there with your, who were you there with?
Well, I don't remember if my dad went in with me to see either one of them or not.
The second one, my next door neighbor in Memphis went with me.
And, you know, we were just kids, but we were not so goable that we couldn't tell
we were looking at a fake.
In fact, I would describe that fake one as being,
looking a lot like Lufiridino
with a lot of extra hair on him.
Oh, which would have been the actor
that played the Incredible Hulk back in the 70s.
Yeah, I don't know how old he would have been at that time,
but I mean, it was a fake anyway,
but the face looked like it was model kind of after him.
And it was definitely, it was taller,
longer body than the original.
Some of them say that the original was actually a Cambodian rock gate.
I can't tell you that it was or wasn't on that.
All I can tell you was that was not a fake body in there.
It was real.
But the second one was definitely fake.
We could see where plastic even had some little cracks in it.
We could see that the eyebrows were neatly trimmed, false eyelashes and all that.
and I basically looked like a Caucasian with a lot of extra hair.
And I will say, I will mean a Caucasian man who was riding a motorcycle,
and if he had been running naked out in the woods,
somebody could have easily mistook him for a small, big foot,
because I thought he was wearing a black, long-sleeved shirt.
And when I got up close, I saw he wasn't wearing any shirt at all.
It was covered in black hair.
Some people do that.
Interesting.
Interesting.
What a, you know, our stories are kind of similar in a way because the phenomenon has affected us.
But if I remember our interview, which is happening right now, it sounds like you have not had a visual yet, much like myself.
So I know what the answer for myself is, but I'm curious.
what is it that that keeps you going if you have not been able to have a visual yet of whatever is out there?
Well, I tell people on these sites, I mean, some of them say you'll see one, you won't ever have any question about it, and I tell them you don't really have to see one.
If you just hear one of the exclusive sounds like I did in South Dakota, you won't ever have the least bit of question about it.
I mean, you see so many fake things out there on YouTube and all that people post trying to say they're real.
If I hadn't had an experience, I think it would probably make me question it.
But as I tell people, you know, this one girl, Lynn Smith, it's on YouTube.
She always says, just remember, absence of proof is not proof of absence.
But it's not just that.
What I say, there can be millions of hoaxes and lies out there.
They don't prove anything except that some people just don't tell the truth,
but it only takes one real encounter, sighting, reports, or whatever, and it's real.
Absolutely.
Yeah.
People don't have to believe that I really encountered one.
If they don't want to believe it, that's okay.
I'm not worried about.
Nobody who's ever known me has ever called me a liar.
Like I say, my son has always thought them.
It took something else, but there was nothing else that could reproduce that sound,
especially back in 77.
Yeah, 100%.
And so your explanation is actually almost 100% what mine is.
I heard vocalization in Oregon in 2024, and that was enough.
to push me past 100%.
I mean, there's nothing that can replicate what we heard that day.
It was absolutely insane, wild stuff.
But Hal, thank you so much for spending some time with me today for hanging out.
I want to make sure that you were able to share everything that you'd come to the show to talk about today.
I think so.
Awesome, awesome.
Do you mind spending a few minutes before we go talking about what's what you've got going on over in the Bigfoot Without Spam Facebook?
Sure, sure.
People basically post what they want now.
The reason it got that title and the way it got started, my friend Sean Ornett from Missouri, he was seeing so much spam on all these groups that they had and just wanting to get it out of there.
And I said, once you create your own group, he says, I don't know how.
So I went, I said, let me look into it when I get back home and I'll let you know.
So I looked into it and it was so easy before I knew it, I started a group.
And then I made him administrators, so we're both administrators on there.
And but the rules are you can't get on there and say Bigfoot does not exist.
You can't post spam on there.
You cannot post hoaxes.
can post videos and ask people what you think. They're not original, you know, not yours.
You can't, but if you put a fake one on there and say, I took this one and it's obviously fake,
right, the boot. And if you get on there and then turn around, say you're an unbeliever that it
doesn't exist, you get the boot. And if you make trouble. But definitely, uh, listeners,
check that out. I'll have that down in, uh, the show notes or description. And, uh, yeah,
Thank you so much, Hal, for coming on the show and sharing what your journey has been over the years.
And it's been a fun conversation. Thank you.
Thank you very much.
Before we wrap this episode, I want to say something directly to a very specific group of listeners.
If you're in the military, any branch or forces, and if you've seen something that no one can explain,
or if you're a national park ranger or forestry worker who's been told to stay quiet,
if you're a pilot who's seen something strange down on the ground or if you're with the FBI, a federal agency, or working intelligence, and you stumbled upon something you're not allowed to talk about.
And if you're a firefighter, paramedic, or search and rescue responder who's heard screams or found tracks that didn't make sense, if you're in the logging industry on a remote oil field or trucker with government contracts and you've had something happen that you've never told a soul.
and if you're a biologist, a wildlife specialist, or a field researcher under contract,
who has found evidence you're not allowed to report, if you're a pastor, a missionary, or someone on a spiritual retreat,
and you saw something that shook your faith, or if you work in the shadows, CIA, NSA, or anything with clearance,
and you've seen what the public hasn't, then I want to talk to you.
Even if it's anonymous, you can reach me.
