Starting point is 00:01:54 All right, Bigfoot Society, you've got the privilege of talking to Ledema tonight. She reached out to me about some really interesting things that she experienced around the Sixes River area of Oregon a little while ago. But Ledima, so glad to talk to you tonight. How are things going? Good, good. Thank you for having me. Absolutely. And it sounds like it's a very interesting story.
Starting point is 00:02:21 I'm going to let you go ahead and launch right into it and share what you would like regarding this story. Okay, I was about 18 and I met a girl that knew some people that lived on this 80-acre property right off Sixes River Road on a commune. And I was really interested in what that would be like and had nothing going on in my life. I lived in Las Vegas and she was passing through. And so I hooked up with her and we hitchhiked from Las Vegas up to Sixes River. Oregon. And when we got up there, we stopped at a house that was up there. And immediately, they started talking about Bigfoot and their experiences with Bigfoot and all kinds of tales. Like, they were telling me about how they were outside in the bushes or trees over on the
Starting point is 00:03:19 left side of their house, which the house is still there. Trees have grown up. But the trees started moving and stuff and their dog, a large lab, started barking and ran into the bushes, whatever it was, which from what I've seen, that's not normal for the animals, but this one did. And whatever it was, threw the dog out of the bushes, out of the trees and bushes. And so that was one of their tales that they told. My friend that night, because it was like dusk, it was getting dark, went across the street with their little girl. to the river. There was like a sandbar over there and came back screaming because they felt the ground shaking and come back screaming into the house. Bigfoot, it's Bigfoot. About that time I was like,
Starting point is 00:04:12 okay, because I don't think I really heard anything about Bigfoot too much at that point until I got up there. We stayed there that night talking and stuff to these people and I was getting to know them and stuff. And of course, they were looking at me like, oh, city girl. Up here on the mountains, wanting to experience it. They knew I was in for a big treat. What year is this, Ledima? 1976. Wow. Okay, cool. About 1976. There was hardly anybody that lived on Sixes River Road, hardly anybody. Now, there was some construction going on. I think they were building the Campgrounds, Sixthes River Campgrounds, and the Editors.
Starting point is 00:04:58 in recreation campgrounds right there. It wasn't even built yet. No houses. One person lived on the river side of the road, a man, a hippie guy that had lived there for a while. He had an a-framed house on that side of the river or the road. But other than that, he was the only one that was on that side of the road, on the river side of the road at that time. And then the 80 acres, there was maybe about five or six people. They had goats that everything was natural. There was no sugar, no tobacco, no nothing.
Starting point is 00:05:37 Everything was grown up there. And it was a real commune. And I guess some lady had 80 acres there and let these hippies live there. And in the morning, we were told that the cabin that we were going to stay in, which was across the river, had been burnt down by the construction people who were getting rid of all the homesteaders at that time and that we had to go further up into the mountain to stay in this other cabin up there. And of course, I'm like, I have no idea what I'm in for or anything. And so we get escorted up the road like a mile past everybody and across the river. we crossed the river on big boulders that were there. I looked and looked up the river recently, and they're not there no more.
Starting point is 00:06:31 I think there was a couple of them, but yeah, I couldn't find where we had crossed the river to go up about a half a mile up the mountain, and to go up the mountain was like a trail. I'm assuming now that it was an animal trail of some sort. We had to cross over a big tree that had fallen across the ravine and the top of the trees were at the bottom of this fallen tree. We had to walk across this tree and it had moss on it and stuff. I actually think I belly crawled across it the first time because I was afraid. Yeah. So anyway, we got to the cabin.
Starting point is 00:07:11 The cabin was hand-built. It was maybe the walls were maybe about six. not even six foot tall, maybe five foot tall all the way around. It was built up against a big tree. There was a big piece of plastic that was the roof and there was a barrel that they made for a stove of some sort. It was hidden up there. You use kerosene for light and stuff. There was some books and stuff. They had hand built a couple of like a bunk bed there and the refrigerator was a hole in the ground underneath the bunk bed, the bottom bed. So it was pretty primitive.
Starting point is 00:07:52 And then you walked down to the river to take a bath. It was real primitive considering. So you were 18, you hitchhiked from Las Vegas to middle and nowhere in 1976 to a hippie commune. And then once you get to the commune, you have to go way even further out and cross a a river on a mossy log and then there's half a cabin that has a tarp for a roof and what were you thinking at that point where you're like I'm in trouble or you're like okay this is cool whatever I was thinking okay I guess so I didn't even it's funny because I didn't think about bear I didn't think I was told that where the cabin was on the corner of a bear and a cat
Starting point is 00:08:46 like right there. And it didn't even dawn on me that I should probably have bear spray or I should probably have a gun or I should probably have some sort of protection, a knife, even, a butter knife. I mean, I didn't have anything. You had nothing. Oh, wow. I had nothing. I had nothing.
Starting point is 00:09:05 I was just a free spirit and just that was it. And I actually, I don't know, I don't know if you know that there, back in the day, there was these flip-flops, but they weren't really flip-flops. They were Japanese flip-flops. They were made of bamboo, and they had felt tops, straps. That's what I had for shoes. Totally.

The first day that I was there, the first real day that I was there, which was like the next day, asked me if I wanted to go on a picnic. And I was like, oh, yeah, let's go on a picnic. And so I get together.
Starting point is 00:12:16 with this about seven or eight or ten of these and we start hiking up this mountain behind now we had come back down the mountain across the river and then back down about a mile down the road to the commune and then and then we started up the mountain from there went up and over a mountain a big mountain and then up and over another big mountain let me put it to you this way about four or five miles into this, I said, where's this picnic? How far do we got to go? And they said, it's 10 miles. And I looked at them and I went, what? You're telling me the picnic is 10 miles away? And they're like, yeah. Now, the mom of the group, she had a baby, a very small baby, and she brought a mama goat and the mama goat had two kid goats, two babies. And so I was bringing up the rear and just, and she brought the goats for the baby to have milk.
Starting point is 00:13:25 At one time I sat down on the road, I said, I'm not going, I'm not going. One of the guys that was staying up in our cabin was there. And he encouraged me to keep going. And I thought about it because I thought, now, Lidima, you can't stop here because you can't get back where you were. you don't know how. So it's better just to keep going. And I did.
Starting point is 00:13:47 And it was just crazy. We got there and I got, everybody clapped when I came around the corner. I was the last one to come around the corner. And they clapped because I made it. But there was a lot of people there from another valley. I don't know what valley it was, but they were roasting a critter on a big spick. And at that point, I was just mad.
Starting point is 00:14:16 I was mad because they didn't tell me that it was going to be 10 miles long. And when we got there, we had gotten down into this shaded, moist area that had a little brook that kind of came through. It was just like a flat area. It didn't have rushing water at all. It was just like,
Starting point is 00:14:36 I don't know if you've ever seen anything like it's like it just had a stream of water like just babbling down through the center of this ravine like area. And everybody's happy and there, you know, some people who are playing musical instruments and it's like a big happy group of people roasting an animal. And so when I finally looked up to see this animal, I asked what is this? that and they said it was a goat. So after walking 10 miles with this mama and babies, I said, I can't eat a goat. So, yeah, that was my first outing with the commute. Lidima, I'm sorry, we got to talk about that for a minute. That's wild.
Starting point is 00:15:26 So at any point or like warning bells starting to go off in your mind, like, what's happening? I am way out of my league or you're still okay. I'm thinking to myself, I need sugar. I need a cigarette and I need sugar. At this point, I'm going through withdrawals from sugar, from coffee, from caffeine, from all this stuff. At the same time, I'm totally out of my element. But I can do this. I can do this.
Starting point is 00:16:01 My constitution is that kind of way. I, whatever, I've been through stuff in my life at that point. And so this I can conquer. I can do this. It's not forever. I'm telling myself, it's not forever. This was nothing. This was nothing compared to what happens later.
Starting point is 00:16:23 This is amazing. Okay, so how many people were in? Was it like a valley or you said it was a flat area? It was like a valley and it was very covered. It was very shaded, very cool. Now we had gone up a mountain that had pine trees and all kinds of trees and stuff like that and foliage. And we had gone up a path and then we got up to the top and it was like a service road at the very top. It was hardly any trees, but it was a dirt road.
Starting point is 00:16:53 And we followed that for a little tiny bit and then we started going down. And when we went down, we went through the same kind of foliage pine trees and stuff like that and into this valley area where, it was moist and cool. There was like a brook or probably like a creek that was basically, I guess they would consider it dried up, but there was still water running through it. But it was flat. It was weird. There was trees that had fallen over into this valley area.
Starting point is 00:17:24 It was small. It was small. I would say about as big as a mall area, you know, if you could flatten out a mall. And then it would go up on each side. and I guess some people lived close by there or something because that's where they barbed it is they had a barbecue pit with a spigot one of those things you put a big animal on and barbecue one of those was set up there so I'm assuming they lived close I never saw their place I what I remember is that I ate some potato salad and and then we got a ride back
Starting point is 00:18:02 in a flatbed. Were they playing like guitars or? Yeah. Okay. They're playing guitars and just hippie stuff. Like hippie songs that you would hear from the 70s. Okay, that's cool. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:13 All right. Yeah. Go ahead. And then we got a ride back that evening or that afternoon that evening. And then I believe that my friend whose name was Sar, she was an Indian girl. And it's really weird is that on our way up, when we were going through San Francisco, we stopped at Hayton Ashbury, the corner, which I thought was fantastic. I always wondered that in records and stuff like that, they talked about that corner being the corner.
Starting point is 00:18:45 And I'm sitting in and I'm thinking, at least I got to see this. And some guy, I'm sitting there and some guy walked up to me out of the blue and hands me a piece of tile, like a bathroom tile, and hands it to me and says, here, take this. It'll keep you safe until you get to where you're going. And I looked at him and I took it and then he walked away. And so I just looked at it and I put it in my backpack. And I just left it like that. You know, I left it there.
Starting point is 00:19:18 So that's just one of the weirdest things that comes to fruition later on after I get up there. When you say Star was an Indian, do you mean Native American or actually from India? Yeah. Yeah. Native American. All right, thank you. Yeah, she was Native American. And so she, not that they all drink, but she did drink.
Starting point is 00:19:40 But when we were up there, she didn't. But her background was that. But she was a real good girl. She was, okay, she had her bad times. But, yeah, she stuck by me and never ditched me or anything like that. But, yeah, we were together through thick and thin all the way. And she even found me like, a year later when I went back to Iowa.

These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. These products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Oh, wow. But anyway, yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:59 So, anyway, so we get back from the picnic and everything. And now, at this point, I'm just hearing stories. I'm just hearing stories about how Bigfoot would copy. Now, everybody had a hauler up there. And what you would do is you would holler within a distance of visiting. somebody and they would holler back. And so you would, that's how you would tell them, I'm coming and they would say, okay, I'm here. And you would continue to go and meet up at their place or whatever.
Starting point is 00:23:32 And so the thing was going around at that time was that they were assuming that Bigfoot was copying people's haulers because people would meet up with somebody and say, hey, how can you you ditch me the other day, I hollered, you hollered back, I got up to your place, nobody was there. What'd you do? Why'd you ditch me? No, I wasn't there. Yes, you were because you hollered back at me. And this went on for quite a while up there. And so they were assuming that Bigfoot was copying people's haulers. And I don't know. I had my own holler. I had to create one. but I always felt like I was being stared at. I never felt alone up there.
Starting point is 00:24:24 I always felt like I was being observed when I was up there from the very get-go. From the very minute that I stepped foot on Sixth's River Road, I felt like I was being stared at. And I looked around. I looked and I always thought, I wonder if they're in the trees. I wonder if they're in the tree trunks or something. And I did. I looked around just to see if I could find somebody staring at me.
Starting point is 00:24:46 I know that one time I was caught walking along the road by myself and I could hear a carload of guys coming up the road and they sounded like they were partying and and they were hooping and hollering. I can hear them coming up and I could tell that they were drunk. And so I jammed down off the road and I hid behind a great big tree. And as they went by, I went around that tree. and for some reason I got this feeling like I earned some respect from them because maybe I was hiding from my own people. Like they hide from us in a way. And I just never, I didn't feel like I was being stared at anymore after that. It was weird.
Starting point is 00:25:34 Oh, you think you had maybe earned some respect from the Sasquatch themselves. Yeah. Oh, interesting. Okay. Yeah. Because I had to have. hide from my own people. I had to actually hide from them behind that tree. As they went by, I went around that tree so they couldn't see me as if I were an animal. And if they caught me, they
Starting point is 00:25:55 would do something bad to me. Like, I had to hide from them, which I did. They were a car full of guys that were drunk and pooping and hollering in this car going up the road. Yeah, I had to hide from them. I was a girl by myself in the mountains. And after that, it's funny because I didn't feel stared at. I didn't feel observed anymore. I felt like I had gone up along in the scheme of things. But yeah, it was pretty crazy. Anyway, this hippie guy that lived on the riverside of the road, he asked, this is where it gets into the seeing things. He asked if we wanted to sleep outside and stare at the stars. And we said, sure. And so he took us over by the road in this area where it had some long grass and we camped out that night, fell asleep under the stars, and we got up the next
Starting point is 00:26:49 morning, and we walked up onto the road, and there was two sets of very large footprint. And I was, I just freaked out and was so excited. I was like, look, and I put my foot in one of them, and it was just enormous. I mean, my foot just was nothing in this footprint. And in that, other foot set of footprints was smaller, but still my foot was nothing in that footprint. And so being 18 years old, he's no, that's so-and-so's footprint because there was a very tall person that lived up there. And I was like, now, his foot isn't that big. It's not that big and that wide. No way. And so being 18 years old and healthy and, you know, pretty much athletic, I decided I was going to try and jump from one footprint to the next footprint
Starting point is 00:27:47 because I couldn't just walk and do it. That was just stupid. There was no way. So I decided to long jump it. And so I backed up and I took off running as fast as I could and jump from one footprint to try and get to the next foot and it still couldn't do it. That's the width, the length that the steps were. I couldn't even do a long jump from one to the next footprint. That's incredible. It was incredible. I couldn't believe.
Starting point is 00:28:18 I was like, you know, and he was, okay, it wasn't like he was excited or anything. And these footprints, the crazy part about it was these footprints came out of the grass along the road, right where we were sleeping, at the head of, where our heads were, out of the grass and then up onto the road where we actually came out of the grass and up onto the road the same place. And I was like, they were watching us. They actually came out. And I didn't know what to say because to me, I was putting it together thinking, oh, my God, they were watching us. They actually looked at us.
Starting point is 00:29:00 That to him because it came out of the grass the same place we did. and so that was my first real evidence that there was something very large with a human-looking foot big foot up there i never heard any kind of like or anything anything i've heard so much since then on on podcasts and stuff and people that people have shared and i can't i'm not her, I think, and I've never heard any of that. None of the, all the animals, crickets and everybody gets real quiet. I've never heard anything like that happened. The only thing, the next thing that happened was we had been up there for about four months. And the last night we were there, I had taken that, that tile out. And we were reading out of the Bible. And I just
Starting point is 00:29:57 having to line the sides of this tile up with the sides of the cabin and realize that the tile had six sides to it and the cabin had six sides to it and we were in six is Oregon and I looked at my friend and I said we got to get out of here. I go this is six six six six we got to go oh my goodness wow I go oh no I go I go first of all my question is what if I never stop? This will keep me safe until I get to where I'm going. What if I never stop? But then again, I think maybe this tile needs to stay here.
Starting point is 00:30:40 So I found a knot hole, and I put it in the knot hole. So I stayed with the cabin. And when I did that, I put it in the hole in the cabin, and then it became dark. And so we turned the kerosene lamp out as it got dark. because we didn't want the construction people to see the light up in the mountain because we didn't want them coming up there and dusting in and who knows what. They had burnt down the cabin that we were going to stay in that was right across the river. And so we didn't want them knowing where we were this time because there was no way to get down that mountain in a hurry.
Starting point is 00:31:22 None at all. You kill yourself. We turned the kerosene lamp out and I remember I remember getting up on the top bunk and I was laying there and I was listening to what I thought. And to this day, I still think that it was a jet. And I was thinking how close to the sky I was being up there in the mountain. Now, up there with no light, you can't see your hands. You can't see anything in front of you. It is dark. I mean, it is dark.
Starting point is 00:31:55 And so you could lay there with your eyes open and it's just, black. And I'm listening to this jet going overhead and all of a sudden, I'll play it for you, all of a sudden, that was like right outside the cabin. Now, I was up on the top bunk, so I got, I got plastic right there. Wow. And I just froze. I know she froze. We just froze. I didn't breathe, I didn't blink, I didn't do nothing. I just lay there. What the heck was that? It was like, oh my God, we're going to die. I didn't think it was a bear. I tried to convince myself all these years for several years that it was a bear. But common sense tells me if that was a bear, it's October, that bear would have ate us. A bear would have ate it. It would come barreling through
Starting point is 00:33:03 that, that Rickley Oak cabin and ate us because it's time to go to sleep. and what did you say to us but it didn't I didn't hear it come towards the cabin and I didn't hear it go away because we just lay there neither one of us moved we didn't twitch we didn't breathe we didn't do nothing we just laid there I think if we would have done anything like jumped up and ran around crazy and things would have been different but we just didn't move the muscle we didn't talk we didn't The only thing I said was, did you hear that? And she said, yes, that was it.
Starting point is 00:33:45 The whole night fell asleep, probably with my eyes open. I don't know. And when I woke up, when I opened my eyes and it was daylight, I jumped out of that bed. We packed our backpacks and we were out of there. How far away from the cabin would you say that sound was? Maybe 10 feet. I could hear. Oh, my goodness.
Starting point is 00:34:08 I could hear the air moving. in its chest. Oh, man. If that plastic wouldn't have been there, I swear to God, my hair would have moved. It was so frightening and traumatizing that I thought I was going to die.
Starting point is 00:34:28 I did. I thought we were going to die. I thought this is it. This thing is going to kill us. I took it as a warning that we needed to get out of there. That it was telling us, I don't, and this is the crazy thing because some people say that there's a paranormal thing about it, there's an alien thing about it.
Starting point is 00:34:50 I just want to know there's so many recordings of these vocals where you hear a plane in the background. That's what I'm noticing. I want to know, you know. That's really interesting. Yeah, there's always, if you listen to. to some of these vocals, you'll hear a plane in the background. Did they get dropped off? Was this something that, where did they come from?
Starting point is 00:35:21 I know that it's been talked about throughout thousands and thousands of years, and I know that as a people, we are expanding and encroaching and stuff. You would think that with us encroaching and that they would, I don't know, I guess there's some nice ones and there's some not so nice ones and then there's ones that are going to warn you to get the heck home. And I think that's how I interpreted that that roar, if you would call it that. It was so long and so frightening. Like I said, you could hear the air moving in its chest like a barrel. that's it must have been huge that's all I can say is this creature must have been huge
Starting point is 00:36:14 because I could hear the air moving in its chest when it was doing that I didn't want to stay I'll put it to you that way I just remember waking up in the morning I was laying there with my eyes open not wanting to go to sleep and waking up in a start and it was light and that was it we were gone that's wild It was too wild It was too wild And I have I've been back to the woods
Starting point is 00:36:43 In a different area Sierra Nevada's Bow hunting in my early 20s And I couldn't tell you I swear it was A herd of cows But from what I've been told It may not have been
Starting point is 00:36:57 It could have been Bigfoot Pounding on our tent Well hold on before we get there I need to know how you got out of the hippie commune with no issues. How did that go down? We just packed our backpacks and walked off the mountain

These products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease, in combination with resistance exercise. Okay. And walked down and we ended up in Who's Bay? And adventures continued on. I'll put it to you that way. We ended up on a fishing boat with an old captain.
Starting point is 00:40:16 Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. So you told the hippie commune, you were like, we're out of here. and they didn't try to stop you. They were like, all right, have fun. Oh, no. Yeah, see you. They were like, really? Yeah, really?
Starting point is 00:40:31 Oh, because they, I don't know if they had ever been approached in that frightening kind of a way at that point. I don't know. I know. I don't even remember saying goodbye to anybody. Wow. I truly don't. I don't remember saying goodbye to anybody. And to this day, I wonder, I try to search my memory and say, because I'm 67.
Starting point is 00:40:56 Did I say goodbye to anybody? But yeah, we were out of there. We were out of there. She had no problem at all. And it was daylight. And it must have just been daylight. I don't remember seeing anybody, walking by anybody's house. I was traumatized.
Starting point is 00:41:11 I was like, and for years, I tried to tell myself, it had to be a bear. It had to be a bear. It had to be a bear. and knowing it was no bear it was no bear at all that bear would have broke into that cabin in no time and ate us absolutely especially that time of year as you were saying October yeah October it was time to go anyway because it was going to get really cold oh yeah and we had no winter clothes whatsoever and no food we had no food bank they tried to grow a garden up there they tried to grow a garden up there they tried to grow garden.
Starting point is 00:41:49 So we went ahead and we picked the carrots. They were about an inch long. The little tiny carrots. What if, and this is just imagining, but what if the Bigfoot was like, hey, these girls are in trouble, they need to get out of here. I'm going to scare them away. They are going to be in trouble. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:42:12 Who knows? Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. That's what I'm thinking. It was a warning. Get the heck out of here. you know, not that this is my area. Get out of here, but get out of here. Yeah, get out of here for your safety, yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:26 You don't belong here. Now, I can already tell you don't really want to get into it, but so he went out to Coo's Bay and you got on a fishing boat with an old sea captain? Yeah, it was some sea captain guy, the fisherman guy, had a big fishing boat, a little crickety one. And I felt really bad. He wanted some people to go out with him and go fishing. And there was a girl that he had already gotten. And then Star and I, we hooked up with him. He went and bought a bunch of food and everything.
Starting point is 00:42:59 We got out, I could see the shore. Starr got a little seasick. The girl was already seasick. And they were down below eating salting crackers and stuff. And I was up above and I was like looking at the water, some jellyfishes and stuff, thinking I was on a swim team when I was younger. I'm looking at the shore going, no. I don't think I could make it. You know, I have a thing about sea and water.
Starting point is 00:43:24 No. And we had a lot of birds flying overhead and everything. And I'm wearing white, of course. And so I talked the guy into this old bearded, we're talking bearded sea captain to go back to shore because the girls were sick. And we needed to get him unsick. And so he docked. And we ended up staying there. and unfortunately
Starting point is 00:43:49 Starr and this other girl bumped on one side of the bottom of this boat ship or it was a ship it wasn't a boat it was pretty big and I got stuck with the sea captain oh no
Starting point is 00:44:04 oh no and yeah he wasn't bad he wasn't bad he didn't try nothing I got stuck up against the side of the boat I got, you know, and he was out on the, on the outer side, and I was on the inside, and I finally fell asleep. He didn't snore too bad, but I was cussing my friend out all the time.
Starting point is 00:44:28 But he didn't try anything bad. That's good. No, he didn't try anything at all. But I did wake up hearing these two old codgers going, oh, isn't she so pretty? And then two little sea captains down there. They should have been up top, but they were down there looking at me, starring the other girl, were gone. They were up top. And I wake up to these old fishermen staring at me with their beers. That's wild.
Starting point is 00:44:53 I was like, oh, it's time to get out. And then after that, I'm guessing the adventure probably continued for years, maybe. Oh, yeah, we ended up at Gold Beach, which is just a little bit further down. And ended up, I got to taste the seaweed soup. And, yeah, and met up with another group of hippies. Oh, wow. So you went back to another hippie commune. Actually, no, he just passed by. Okay.
Starting point is 00:45:18 Yeah, passed by them. And then we met up with two guys from Canada. One guy was an artist. And the other guy was his friend. And they had a station wagon. And they were heading to, I don't know, San Francisco, San Jose somewhere around it. And that was great. I had relatives there.
Starting point is 00:45:37 And he would take pictures and then he would paint the picture. And so we found a misty mountain, and he gave me a long robe-like thing with a hood and had me stand out on this peak with the fog and everything and pose with this robe on. Of course, I had a clothes on underneath it, but still, I only weighed maybe 104 pounds, so I was really skinny. Yeah, I need to take some pictures of me. He was going to paint it. And I was like, well, whatever. Do you think he actually made a painting? There's a painting of you somewhere?
Starting point is 00:46:18 Probably. Wow. Probably. Yeah. Probably. I would assume that he did what he said. His friend was really cool. I have no idea what their names were or anything.
Starting point is 00:46:30 The day that we hit San Francisco was the day that they caught. What's her face? Oh, God, she was, what was her name? She helped rob a bank. Mm-mm. I can't remember. name. She's a really rich little girl and she got together with this group of people and they were robbing banks and stuff and they, what was her name? It starts with an H. Hershey, no.
Starting point is 00:47:00 She was wanted and that was the day that they found her, they captured her in San Francisco. Yeah, that was really interesting. I was like, we were sitting there eating at this little cafe and I was like, what? They caught her. Let's get out of here. here. I had just come down from the mountains that it was real tranquil and everything for four months and then got scared to death and came down. It was like, ah, let's get out of here. So how did you get from hanging out with more hippies to then being a bow hunter in this year in Nevada's? About, I was about 18 when I was up there in the mountains. And then I met up with somebody who in my early 20s, like 22, who liked to hunt.
Starting point is 00:47:46 He was a bull hunter. And he invited me on a weekend with some friends of his and him to go boll hunting. And I thought that was pretty interesting. And so we went and we ended up somewhere in the Sierra Nevada's. And at this area where it was like, there was like a long, like a round meadow that was on a slope and then the tree line that was like in a circle and there was a creek that ran along one end of it and I just remember going out with him and he spotted a deer and he got the deer he hit the deer with his arrow which was a sickening sound I thought it was a sickening sound and the deer took off
Starting point is 00:48:39 and then we tracked the deer for the longest time, and then we found the arrow. The deer pulled it out. And so we kept tracking the deer, and then we lost the deer tracking. So we ended up with nothing. But that night, they were talking about it's always safe to light a fire and keep the fire going, so mountain lions will stay away. All kind of predators will stay away. Now, in my mind, I'm thinking bears don't care.
Starting point is 00:49:06 but maybe light and mountain lines do I wasn't sure but we were in our tent and sleeping and all of a sudden there's this pounding on the ground I was just shaking and things were hitting both sides of the tent we jumped up not jumped up but got up on our hands and knees and started hugging each other in the center of the tent because we thought for sure whatever it was happening I always thought it was a herd of cows. Now, I hadn't seen a cow the whole time we were there. Where they had come from, who knows? So that was like silly to think of a herd of cows. And then I'm thinking if a herd of cows running, what's chasing them. That's what I'm thinking. And we got out of the tent and there was nothing different. The campsite was not trotted over.
Starting point is 00:50:03 there is everything was still set up like it was supposed to be nothing has turned over or trampled on or like it should have been so i'm assuming then then it was bigfoot messing with us it had to be it was horrible it was frightening it was so scary we thought for sure the cows were going to trample that tent it was going to just run it over we were like hugging each other and And yeah, it was really scary. And it just lasted for a good four minutes, five minutes. I mean, it was constant of battering on the tent, both sides. Wow.
Starting point is 00:50:49 Yeah. And so after all these years, I'm, you know, thinking, yeah. And I don't think it was cows. And then eventually you get back to Iowa. I heard you mention that in passing before. Yeah, I get to Vegas and then I end up, I ended up in Iowa between the 18 and the 22. I ended up there when I was 19 until I was 21. And that's when that star girl showed up at my mom's door.
Starting point is 00:51:25 I didn't even know I gave her the address. And she stayed there for about six months or so. she didn't really fit in there. I wasn't sure I fit in there, but yeah. I got a job as a nursing assistant, and that's when I got it to genealogy and stuff like that. But, yeah. Wow.
Starting point is 00:51:45 Yeah. And I'm guessing Iowa, probably not too many crazy adventures in Iowa. I know I live out here, so I know it's not too many crazy adventures to have. Yeah, yeah, only one. And that was I babysat for the, This person, he paid for it, but they had two wolves they had out there. And these wolves were in pins, that the pins were chain-link fences that were like, oh, 18 feet high.
Starting point is 00:52:13 And then they had some German Shepherd dogs and stuff. He left me with a gun and some instructions. And as I was being given the tour, the female wolf got loose and was stalking me. And we turned around and she was just about ready to leap on me when the lady saw that and yelled at her and took her back to the pin. But yeah, I was to keep them separate and make sure that wolf didn't climb that fence and get out because they would fight
Starting point is 00:52:39 the German shepherds and the wolf. And just the day before these people were coming back from this trip that they took, the wolf got, the male wolf, climbed that fence, climbed that 18-foot chaining fence and got out. And I got the dogs in just in time. I didn't care about the wolf being outside. I just didn't go out.
Starting point is 00:53:01 I waited for the people to come back. Yeah, that was crazy. I thought for sure I was going to have to. It was Madrid. It was Madrid. Oh, wow. That's wild. Oh, yeah, it is.
Starting point is 00:53:14 Yeah. You know where Madrid is? I mean, I've driven through it before. So, yeah, I know where it is. Yeah, that's awesome. That's a crazy lowdown. That's crazy low down. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:24 Yeah, and it was out in the boonies out there on a couple of miles outside of town, so it's crazy. I've seen some things in that town that worked like spooky. Oh, really? Yeah, you know, you can drive through the country out there and find things hanging from trees that
Starting point is 00:53:42 you're like, what the heck is that? Like people? I don't know, it was like, or no, it was like, you know, like skin and animals. Oh, what the heck is that? Late 70s, you said,
Starting point is 00:53:58 dead, right? Yeah, that was the late 70s. Bigfoot Society will be right back after these messages. This is Daniel Fischel. And Ryder Strong from PodMeet's World. Starting point is 00:56:41 So that was 78, 79, about that area, time frame. It's a different time. Yeah. Yes, and people were like nuts. There was, it was, very clicky. Yeah. And I was from Las Vegas, seeds, and that's what they saw. That's what they knew of me. I was a hooker from Las Vegas.
Starting point is 00:57:13 It's how they saw me. Okay. Gotcha. Yeah, I wasn't, but I'm really. Oh, man. probably the most unique life story of anyone I've ever talked to for the podcast, Lodima. This is incredible.
Starting point is 00:57:26 You've got such an interesting story. And on top of it all, you get to tell Bigfoot stories through it, too, which is really cool. And it sounds like today you're still, now you're watching podcasts, listening to podcast because of what happened in your past. Yeah. It's crazy. You know, I never shied away from talking about it, and I didn't care if you didn't believe me because I believed me. And I didn't care what you did, rolled your eyes.
Starting point is 00:58:01 I don't care. I don't care. I feel bad for you for thinking that I'm lying to you because I'm glad that I experienced it. And I know what I know. And I know they exist. I've seen the footprints. I heard them. and I talk to people who have heard them and experienced them and now listening to podcasts like yours and the people you interview and stuff, get used to it.
Starting point is 00:58:32 They're there and they're going to be there. Now, what I would like is for someone to be able to break through the communication, aspect of it and find out how to communicate with them so that we can find out more about them. Absolutely. And find out, I know that they're trying, but I don't know if they're trying for the right reasons. Oh, wow. You know? That's deep.
Starting point is 00:59:08 Yeah. I think they're just trying for public, you know, the publicity of it. I don't know if they're trying to find out. out for the aesthetics of it, the academic part of it, the person to Bigfoot. I would think that there are more than, unfortunately, a few researchers or people interested in Bigfoot specifically for either trying to get famous, trying to, and they don't really care about the people that are experiencing things, helping them, or the actual creature itself and there's not a lot of that which makes it scary if it's actually discovered hopefully
Starting point is 00:59:49 someday that is there even going to be a conservation effort and sometimes you find a person that is is uh on the right track of communicating that's doing the apple thing and the peanut butter thing and really trying to become friends uh have a relationship with them as far as that goes but the thing it gets me is when they have when they get these samples this these this evidence and samples and they test them and they find that there's it comes out that the DNA is of an unknown species okay there's got to be categories of unknown species okay and if these unknown species are falling into the same unknown species then that has to be, come on now, that must be big foot.
Starting point is 01:00:49 You know what I'm saying? Yeah, right. You know what I'm saying? It's if people are bringing in hairs that are not a wolf, they are not a bear, they are not, but they're an unknown species. And this scientist over here or around the world and every, every, there's this category of unknown species, then that has to be, you know what I'm saying? Yeah, absolutely.
Starting point is 01:01:13 It's got to be bigfoot. I'm hoping that we get some answers. Hopefully in the next few years, we will see. Hopefully the more info gets out there, more people will share what they've seen, and more connections will be made. Well, the whole thing is the scientists won't back down. I need proof. I need proof of a big foot.
Starting point is 01:01:38 I need proof. I need to see the body. And so it's okay. you've seen the hair, you've seen a fingernail, you've seen a tooth, you've seen this and it's falling in this category of unknown. Of course it's unknown, because we don't have the body. And I doubt we're ever going to have a body. Why have a body of everything in the world? No.
Starting point is 01:02:03 But we have seen things. We still don't have the body of everything. I would think. I'm going to have to look that up. So the way I look at it is if even someone was able to, let's say someone did get a body, they probably didn't leave the area alive because they probably, there were other ones that just took them out. That's what I think happens. That's what they say what happened is if you kill one, you're in trouble.
Starting point is 01:02:39 because the other ones are going to get you and your family. And, you know, when you think about it, that's no different than a human. Retribution. That's the way a human thinks too. I mean, we have a conscious and we have to not do that because we understand laws and blah, blah, blah. But we're talking about an animal that has no law. And so, but yeah, I don't know. I don't think I'll see it.
Starting point is 01:03:13 You never know. You never know. Too old. Well, Dima, thank you so much for chatting tonight. It has been a pleasure. And thank you for sharing your life story and what you encountered. And it's just been a really fun time. Thank you.
Starting point is 01:03:28 Thank you. All right, Bigfoot Society. You've got the privilege of talking to Cindy today. Cindy's an individual that shared her story in the Facebook group I have, which is Bigfoot sightings and research. I should check it out if you haven't yet, but she was sharing what was going on in there. So I asked if she wanted to come on the show. And Cindy, you're down there in Oklahoma, but it's a privilege to have you on today. How's it going? Thank you very much. It's privileged to speak with you. So it's going all right. How are you
Starting point is 01:03:56 did today? Oh, doing great. We were talking about that before the show, how it's snowing up here and probably not snowing for you down there. So it's hopefully not. No, but it's definitely cold. It's definitely cold. We consider code or what I consider code anyways, but. Absolutely. Yeah. So I like Iowa. That's a beautiful state. It is.
Starting point is 01:04:16 Yeah. There's some hidden parts of it that are pretty beautiful. That is for sure. I'll agree with you. Yeah, Cindy, I want to make the best use of our time here today. Okay. Do you mind if I have you take us back to where this all started, you know, how far back you'd let us know that in the general area? Yeah, certainly. So it's going to go back to 2006. It's going to be my first, I guess, knowledge or hear about of what they call the body, the boggy bottom, the boggy bottom monster, I think that's what's called him. And so he's, it's a story that's been around for years and years, but my knowledge of his existence came in 2006. And I was actually pregnant with my youngest son of his time. So I just,
Starting point is 01:05:05 found it to be hysterical, but I live in the southeastern part of Oklahoma, and a lady that lives close to where I live now, and I woke up one morning and was just outside on a port, and I guess it was like July 2006, something like that, and she heard wrestling some stuff going on in the bushes, whatnot next to her home, and I guess when she walks around to the side of the house, she said that she's seen what she considered to be called the Bigfoot, and it snarled at her, and it scared her so much that she called 911, because she didn't know if she's having a panic attack or if she's having a heart attack. And so they had Bigfoot members come or search team come down from Washington. They're all over the place here in the South County, and they deemed it to be that he has gone through here,
Starting point is 01:06:00 and that there's a big foot that lives in the area. I moved off and back since then. And so I guess maybe a couple of years ago, I guess maybe like maybe three years or four years ago. I was on the phone, we went back to a little further than that. So we were involved in an accident and it ended up putting my son into a wheelchair. And then, so with that said, I was on my way to pick my son up and he was across the street. from my parents home visiting and way in the country.
Starting point is 01:06:34 So I told him, I said, whenever I turned down the road, then I'll call you and you go ahead and leave the house. And that way, we'll meet at Nana's, Nana Pop-Balls. And he said, okay. So I called him and said, I'm on my way or I'm turning down the road now. And he said, all right. And so he took off from the door. And then as he was strolling down the dirt road,
Starting point is 01:06:54 all of a sudden, I hear him, he's like, I guess, up four years of seven he'd been 14 in time it's like oh crap and then i can just hear him like his breathing just changed and he was going super fast i couldn't get his attention because he wasn't hearing he wasn't hearing me anymore i was like saying his name over and over and so i sped up and about the time that i got in view of my parents home he was darting across the highway or the road and i pulled him right after him i'm like what's going on with you and he goes, Mama, I felt like I could see something on the corner of my eye. And when I turned, it was too big to be what he thought was a deer.
Starting point is 01:07:38 And so that's when he said he cussed and started going as fast as he could across down the dirt road. And he said it was keeping up with him. And he could tell the difference between a four-legged creature and two-legged creature going through the woods. So it was keeping up with him. but as soon as he hit the tree line there's the road
Starting point is 01:08:00 that I was on of course it stopped and that's when he started across the road and I got caught up with him the next thing's had the next story I would have he was shook up for it about it
Starting point is 01:08:11 for quite some time because he said I don't know what it was I just heard it snarl at me I don't know if it was like he was calling it I don't know what is it doesn't matter
Starting point is 01:08:21 but you know what it was he just knew it was big two-legged and it was chasing in him through the woods as he was on the dirt road. And I've been told that it sounded like that they were just being, the that's what was being territorial or wanting to see what he was up to. And then my mom, my grandmother's house is much deeper into the woods.
Starting point is 01:08:46 It's also in the same county. About a year after that, so a couple, maybe two, three years ago, she had told me that she went over to my grandmother's home to feed the horse and Mac, he's not a very nice horse, right? He's, he will keep anything and everything out of that field. And so she went to feed him and she said that she started hearing something big coming through like the tree line or creek area there and just the smell was overwhelming. But it caught the horse's attention. enough to where he stood still and he was perked forward.
Starting point is 01:09:26 He wasn't moving. I said, what did you do? She goes, I just slowly turn and walks back to my vehicle. She goes, the horse, he didn't move. He didn't move for a long, long time. And I said, what do you think? She said, I don't know what it was. I just know it was big.
Starting point is 01:09:42 I could see branches moving through the trees and it stocked as well. That's really crazy. But she's got more stories than I do. She just hasn't really shared very many. of them, but that's the most recent. Actually, the most recent would be I moved to the area, actually to that general area, to that exact area. And so I was out breaking leaves. I worked nighttime, so I was off and I was up doing work at nighttime. Like breaking leaves up. And I have a pit for my own protection, and he's a big burly dog. But as I was raking, all of a sudden,
Starting point is 01:10:16 just this long, monotone cow. Wasn't a hound dog? I've been around town dogs all my life. It wasn't even a bullhorn because people around me, they sleep at night and they're old or older. And so nobody was up. It was just me up. And this long monotone towel came out. And it was eerie. It was like, it was really close.
Starting point is 01:10:42 It was like at the end of my property line, which is I have a pond back there. And my home, I just moved in here recently. It's been vacant for several years. There was one person that lived here, but they like bolted after two months of staying here. I can understand why because it's creepy here. There's no security light out there. So it's just black because it's pitch black outside. But that wasn't the only time.
Starting point is 01:11:04 So when I heard the howl, it wasn't until it was almost finished that the dogs picked up and started barking. And I go looking around from my dog and he's tucktailed and he's going inside. So I'm like yelling at him to get back out here. and then figured I better go inside too. That was the first time I heard it. So I've told people about it. Nobody wants to believe that I've heard the towel, and they laugh about it.
Starting point is 01:11:33 I'm like, I've gone through every sound I could possibly go through as to what type of animal it could be out here, and there's nothing that comes close to it. There's absolutely nothing that I can find. And so I've heard it again. And it's about 2 o'clock in the morning that I hear it. I guess he goes down to the water to the pond, and doesn't like my again, I was outside scraping leaves and burning leaves.

Oh, I don't know, but he held again, and this time he held twice, and the first time the dog stayed silent, and then the second time, then they picked up.
Starting point is 01:14:57 I hit my dog, he tucked tail and ran inside, and I'm like, okay, it's time for me to go in two, because my big burly dog was running inside. I'm following him. That's about all I got, other than here recently. this week actually the beginning of this week we didn't have any there was no it was in a storm going there was no wind it was just as still as it could be but things were being were dropping on top of my roof and it was like stunted was running up there i don't know what it was but when i got up the next morning and went outside and looked i had tree lens all over my roof i don't know how they got there because
Starting point is 01:15:36 the tree that's next to the home, it's a real healthy tree, and it's not going to be breaking and dropping big old limbs, like the size of my legs and stuff on top of my roof. There being some sort of storm going on. That's the way I see it. I don't know. I'm not an expert on any of it. I just know what I've heard, and I know what I've witnessed,
Starting point is 01:15:57 and I know that there's something big and hairy and loud, where I say. So, but. That's some really interesting stuff. that that's happening pretty much current day. So you can actually hear something running. Like it sounds like something running across your roof from inside. Oh, yeah, absolutely.
Starting point is 01:16:18 Listen, I, my cat, okay, so I have a cat, the cat comes inside too. And the cat and the dog will both look up at the ceiling. Okay, so I keep waiting to see sheetrock coming down or something. I swear, I was like trying to dig a hole or something to my roof. And there's definitely something that's on top on my roof at night. And it's not every night. It's just every now and then. At first, I blew it off as being creeped out by being a city girl coming into the country,
Starting point is 01:16:46 but I've always been in the country that lived in the city. It'd be in a new place and it's being strange to me, but not when I went out there and see those lives on my house. And there being no storms. It was dead. It was silent. My friend said that they went outside the other night and noticed that my dog didn't want to go with them. And he felt something staring at him.
Starting point is 01:17:17 So he said he's seen what he's seen because he couldn't really tell me. It said it was something that was close to my home that took off back into the woods. And I just, I don't know, I don't know what's out there. I just know what creeps me out. and being out here out here by myself, it's fully scary. That's some really interesting stuff for sure. When it runs across your roof, does it affect anything inside? Do things fall off the walls?
Starting point is 01:17:47 Anything like that? No, I don't really know. Yeah, there's something up there, Ryan, because, and you can tell, you know, you can tell the difference between two legs and four legs. It's definitely two legs. It's definitely two legs that's running across my roof. I don't know. But no, it's just really loud.
Starting point is 01:18:03 Like I said, I don't have much stuff on the wall. And what I do have on there, they're on there pretty good. But, no, nothing comes off the walls. I don't know. I don't know what it is. I just know that it's, I don't think it likes me being here. It makes sense, especially if you were saying that it hasn't had anyone. There's been no one in that house over the last few years.
Starting point is 01:18:24 So it's gotten used to being able to do whatever it wants. Are you also cleaning up the area, taking down trees, clearing brush, anything like that? No, just the whole leaf breaking thing. Like I said, the house has been empty, but the house was tore up, and then the owner, they remodeled it and everything. Like I said, there's a pond at the end of my property line that is shared between me and two or three other people. It's a really big pond. I think that's its water and haul. It's got to be because the sound's coming from there.
Starting point is 01:19:03 That's where they're telling from. And it's when I'm outside of burning leaves. So I don't know. It's big. It's creepy. I got in a whip up with it. Maybe I'm downwind or upwind from it. Are there a lot of deer and animals around the property?
Starting point is 01:19:21 Massive amounts of deer. Massive amounts of deer. There were. We just went to deer out and see the or deer season. But yeah, there's always deer running around. And I said, I'm off in the woods. That's away from city lights, away from, well, there's not even security lights out here. So that's very desolate and dark, very dark.
Starting point is 01:19:45 Cindy, if there's something you wanted to try to do to probably get the activities to go down a little bit, you could always consider putting up some game cams around your property. Most people will say that if you put those up, it may get them to clear out just because they don't like the infrared. It freaks them out and they'll clear out. So that might be something to consider. That's a, you can get some pretty cheap, like even at Walmart or whatever. But a few of those around your house might help out a bit. I have security cameras set up around the house, but for some reason, my,
Starting point is 01:20:24 The base thing that they connect to as I wanted to work properly. So I can't get recorded footage of it or anything or even the recorded sounds. I was really hoping to have had that for you or something like that. But I don't know. And then, okay, so that night that I had the limbs going on my house and they're running across the roof, I have a security light out back. And it's really weird because last night I went outside. and I just had to put up.
Starting point is 01:20:56 But when I went out there, before I even got off my back porch, my secure lights come on. But that one particular night, oh, that's another story, that one particular night, I had walked outside, and the light hadn't come on yet, right?
Starting point is 01:21:14 So I was trying to walk up to the water spigot. Then my dog, he comes bolting out the door and, like, charging at me, and I'm thinking, oh, my gosh, my dog's freaking out. He bypassed it. me and getting in front of me and he takes his stance into the dark and is growling and barking and I had to front around high felt him back inside but so when I went out there last night before I even
Starting point is 01:21:35 got off the porch the light the exterior light come on but that one particular night I was almost to his water spigot and it was still dark it hadn't even clicked on yet I don't know and that's about where my dog ran to and started barking and growling and then he was quick behind he was behind me quick too. So I'm glad you do have that dog there with you though. You know, a lot of people, it sounds like, are not taking you seriously, but I would say to take this stuff seriously, I've gotten, I've talked to a lot of people over the years from Atoka County, and there's some wild stuff that goes on down there, especially over by McGee Creek, Recreation Area. I don't know if you know where that is, but there's some really wild stuff that's happened over there over the years.
Starting point is 01:22:20 Yeah, McGee Creek is east of where I am, or northeast to where I am. I'm more towards, I'm closer to Lake Texoma, it's in McGee Creek. Oh, okay. Texoma is a different story. There's so much, so many wild things that happened on at Lake Texoma. There's everything from Bigfoot to haunted stuff to other creatures running around and dog man. Like, that whole area is just out of control. Yeah, absolutely. That's what I was saying that, you know, my son was, he was calling it was, I don't know, I can't remember what he's trying to say that it could have been that was chasing him.
Starting point is 01:22:59 But I just know there's something out here and it's creepy and I don't like it. And I'm thankful to have my dog because if it ever does come through the roof, I'm certainly pushing him on it so I can get away a little bit or have a little bit of time to get out. Right. I don't want to be anywhere near whatever's on top of my roof. Well, the city, I hope it doesn't come to that. If it does, you at least have that dog, and hopefully that dog instincts kick in and it's ready to go after it. And also, the great thing about this is that you're talking to your neighbors, which is awesome. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 01:23:35 Right. I'm talking to people around here that live around here. And as I try to say with the older generation, because I can get better stories from them. They know what's happened around here. Like I said, they call him the body bottom monster, but he's definitely a monster. Like I said, that was the area's sound I've ever heard was that how. And nobody around here is going to be out blowing some bullhorn at 2 o'clock in the morning. And there's no other, there's no creature that I've ever heard that made that sound.
Starting point is 01:24:11 I've heard people say that much like the shows on TV, and they mimic a sound from them. And that was the memory that comes to my mind when I heard the how. Like, wow. It sounds like you might be trying to actually capture some sound out in that property. Is that right? Yeah, I'm trying. If I can get the module thing that's put the word to hold my recordings, I would love to have a recording that sound.
Starting point is 01:24:38 Because that way I can say that listen to this. You tell me what you think this sounds is. Oh, yeah, absolutely. It's even got me out of breath. talking about it. If you wanted to try to get another good solution, you can always pick up, there's like a task cam recorder,
Starting point is 01:24:56 which is pretty inexpensive, and then you can set that up. You could put that outside on the porch and have it record during a certain, you know, certain hours of the day so you don't fill it all up. And there's different things you can do, but definitely keep me informed
Starting point is 01:25:12 about things that will probably continue to happen on this property. Oh, absolutely. I absolutely will. I'll keep in touch with you. The more information I can get or the more encounters I have, I'll let you know each one. Absolutely. Thank you so much for coming on the show today. Cindy, it was a pleasure chatting with you. Good thing. Thank you very much. Have a good day. All right, Bigfoot Society. You've got the privilege of talking to Chris today. Chris is an individual that joined my Facebook group that I have, Bigfoot sightings and research. So I reached out to Chris after seeing what he had posted about a sighting he had in the Hampshire County area of Massachusetts, which if anyone's a long time listener of the show, they know that I am originally from Western Massachusetts up in the Northfield area. This is a little bit further south of that area.
Starting point is 01:26:06 But Hampshire County is very interesting. I've gotten a lot of reports over the years from things that happened in Granby, Mount Holyoke, even the Cochbin Reservoir. area. And this, what Chris will be sharing today is an area that's in that same kind of region. So it's a pleasure to have you on the show today. Chris, how's it going? Pretty good. Pretty good.
Starting point is 01:26:26 Thanks for having me. What would you like me to start with? Go ahead and feel free. You could share a time frame when this happened, the general area, so that listeners would be able to picture where this happened and what you experienced during the time. time. Okay. Just to get started, I was always a kid who was in the outdoors from the time I was little, six, seven years old. My father started me fly fishing. He was very much an outdoorsman itself. And I lived at that point in Hampton, Massachusetts, which is West. And I grew up fishing,
Starting point is 01:27:06 Wilberham Mountain. I was always up on there. And I was very comfortable being in the outdoors. And I wound up going as time you went by when I was a teenager, past high school and everything. I got into UMass and I started going. And I lived in Amherst and we used to every few weeks, I get a load of a load of laundry and want some real food going UMass. At that point, the meal plan wasn't very good. And at this point, it's very much better, but it's also a lot more expensive. Anyway, so I'd go home on weekends. and my mom cooks really good food.
Starting point is 01:27:42 So I brought a friend of mine with me, a kid Rocky that I grew up with. And he and I were buds from the time I was like 12. So we spent the weekend, did my thing, got fed, hung out of my house. And then we decided to go home Sunday. And I lived, you know, if you've ever, if you know Massachusetts,
Starting point is 01:28:02 if you want to get to Amherst, there is a route called Route 9, which, you know, heads west. and you go through this area in which they flooded for towns called the Fobbin. And, you know, I was pretty knowledgeable about the area. I know where in Beltzer Town pretty well because I spent a lot of time going through them, getting back and forth from Amherst, but I also fished the Fobbin a lot. I'd sneak in on Gate 8, and I'd walk in.
Starting point is 01:28:26 There was about a mile walk to the shore, and I fish the shoreline. And I was very comfortable in the area. And I also fished the Swift River, too, which runs right under the route now. And so I was not unfamiliar with the area. Anyway, we're going back. And I had this big old boat. Everybody has a hooty car when they were in college. And I had this big old boat.
Starting point is 01:28:46 It was a 1968 Pontiac Patarina. And it didn't have palliage of lights. It had the old style lights, which weren't too strong. But anyway, so we're going along on Route 9. I just passed from the Gwaffe factory, which, if you know that area, there's not a whole lot out there. You pass where on the way to Belcher Town. And we just passed there.
Starting point is 01:29:08 And it was about sunset. Bigfoot Society will be right back after these messages. This is Daniel Fischel. And Ryder Strong from PodMeets World. Cat parents unite. Starting point is 01:31:45 These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. These products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. There was still some light out, but we were losing light, and it was in the fall. I think it was in October. And we're going along. It's probably about 6.37, at 6.37 p.m.ish. Not quite dark yet, but not light. And anyway, so we're driving along.
Starting point is 01:32:15 There's nothing there. There's no houses, no structures. There's no people. We were the only car on the road at the time. And all of a sudden, this thing breaks out of the brush. And the best way I could describe how it looked is it was running on two feet, but it ran in a weird motion. It didn't have a normal human date, I would call it.
Starting point is 01:32:35 Like it turned its legs sideways a little bit of look and its arms were abnormally evolved. I would say it looks somewhat. I got a really good look at it. It looked somewhat like a mix of a person and around its hand. Like its arms. like normally people have their arms down to their butt. Like you can put your arms down to the side of your butt. This thing had arms not quite to its knees,
Starting point is 01:32:57 but it was down past where people normally have their arms. And when it ran, it didn't really run because the thing that struck me about it is it walked like at running speed. And it glided like you seen a person, Alpine glided. It was that kind of emotion. And it looked through the woods and it shocked me. You know, my parents, my hackle stood up and I couldn't speak. And I'm watching this thing run across the road.
Starting point is 01:33:25 It was actually a two-lane highway, but it's a big size, two-lane highway. And it was, it seemed like it was across it in two seconds. And it was gone. And we were going probably about 40, I remember this very vividly. I can picture everything because it was burned into my brain. And this thing was across the road very fast. And it was almost dark. And the woods were definitely dark.
Starting point is 01:33:49 And another thing that struck me is it ran into the woods that you would stay. And I've spent a lot of time at the outdoors. And unless you're on a trail, if it's dark and you run in the woods, you can't see that. You're going to be a running lawn. But this thing ran into the woods. And by the time I got up to it, it was gone. And I'll tell you what, I was not even thinking about shopping.
Starting point is 01:34:14 I was literally freaked out, wasn't saying anything. And there was a long silence. My friend Rocky and I drove a little while before. And either one of us, I'm like, I'm not saying anything because I wasn't sure if he saw it. If he blinked, you would have missed it. And I wasn't sure if he saw it. And the first thing, ironically, the first thing that came out of his mouth was, did you just see a big toy? And so it was so surreal because having grown up, you know, spending a lot of time in North Carolina and being outdoors a lot,
Starting point is 01:34:44 I would have said that it would be more likely that I would see one of these things in North Carolina. So it turned out to be close to home in Massachusetts and all the cold weather and everything. But it opened my mind, I would like, you know, is it possible that these things exist? First, I was in denial a little bit, but the more I thought about it, I'm like, that was definitely not a human because it just didn't look right. And it was covered with brownish hair. And I didn't get a good, it was dark enough, but I didn't. get a good look at its face, but I saw the outline and rough color and shape of his body. Very clear was probably something like between 50 and 70 yards from my car.
Starting point is 01:35:26 And my headlights hit enough that I could see it. But it's always been in my head ever since. And I'm of the belief that they're out there. I seem as believing. I never would have thought that this would have happened where it did happen because of the weather. and it's harsh in the wintertime in Massachusetts. It's not, you know, it's not a temperate place. Like North Carolina, I could totally see, I could live outdoors 365 a year in North Carolina
Starting point is 01:35:55 because it's just, it's very lush and it's very plentical. Animals have it hard in Massachusetts. They do. It's like the wintertime is, you know, the wintertime's very bitter. So would I have thought it would have happened there? No. And I wouldn't have thought it would have happened, period. And, you know, it's funny because I haven't seen my friend.
Starting point is 01:36:13 for years. He moved off. He's living in Philadelphia now. And I've always wanted to talk to him again about it because it left such an impression on me. And I want to be clear that I think they exist because I saw one. But if these things are out there, they're not in, I don't believe they're any great numbers because being an avid sportsman,
Starting point is 01:36:33 I spend time hunting, I spend time fishing, I camp at least a week to year, I'm comfortable being outdoors. And I've never seen any sign of one of these things. before. If they're out there, they're rare. I don't think they're very common. And I'll tell you what, it's a paradigm shifting experience. Like, you think of what's what. And then you realize that there's things out there that you don't see or understand or whatever. But I do believe these things are some sort of a primate. I believe it's a natural thing. I think they're primates. And I think
Starting point is 01:37:04 they live in small groups. I've heard anecdotally from some people that are numbers of a group there. They asked me if I wanted to go. I know one of these guys because my kid does did sports with his kid. And I ran into him in a gas station and had the BFRO sticker on his truck and he said, you want to go out there? And I'm like, I was like, dude, I was like, I don't want to go out there and see one of these things and have him know that I saw it. It's I don't necessarily.
Starting point is 01:37:32 I'm comfortable with them being there. They don't threaten me. I don't feel unsafe going into the woods. But I don't want to mess with them either. It's, you're talking about a while. animal. So I don't know. People like looking for them. I'm good not looking for them. It was just it was interesting that I saw one. The thing that really struck me though when I first saw it is the way it moved. The way it moved was not and the way that it was proportioned was not
Starting point is 01:37:56 human. It was like it was more like primate like and the way that it looked was it struck me as halfway between a person, a man and in the dragon's hand. Just the way that it's orange your shape. And it wasn't really huge. Like people talk about them being massive. This one was tall, but it was lanky. And I can tell you one thing is I was a young man at this time and I was in good shape and I could run. No way I could have run like this thing. It was just boom, done. So anyway, I hope you found that interesting. That's really all I got. It was only one experience in probably 40-something years in the outdoors. Now, that is extremely interesting, especially for that area, definitely have a few questions for you.
Starting point is 01:38:43 And I might ask a few things that were already stated, but just to make sure I got them. What year approximately was this again? I want to say it was around 19. I graduated 94, so I'm going to say it was about 92. I think I was I was 22 years old. Gotcha. And what month of the year would you say? October.
Starting point is 01:39:08 October, yeah, okay. And it was running from the lake side to the woodside. Okay. What time of day? Right around 6.37 p.m. It wasn't quite, it was dusk. It wasn't quite sunset. On Route 9 there, you'd have so many trees and so much brush that it was the trees itself darken it quite a bit.
Starting point is 01:39:28 So it was almost dark, and I had my lights on. But it wasn't quite suns. It wasn't quite dark. It was getting close to it. Now, you said lakeside to woodside, correct? Looking on a map, does that mean? When you say lakeside, do you mean the Quabin Reservoir side? Yeah, on the reservoir side.
Starting point is 01:39:47 It ran, as we were traveling west, it ran right to left into the woods. And so you said this was right after the fish hatchery going east? After, it was a little, a couple, maybe a mile or two after McGuaclin Fish Hatchery, because I made a mental note. that with the fish hatchet is very much near the Swift River. And it's also near the Windsor Dam. So it was just past that area more into the woods. And the thing that struck me was, I don't know of any trails near where it ran across the road.
Starting point is 01:40:22 There's a bunch of trails you can hike back there. It's like a hangout place in the summertime. Gotcha. Everybody goes to Windsor Dam school. Like I used to roll down the hill when I was a kid. Okay. Okay, so you were definitely on Route 9. It was after the Swift River, after you go over that river.
Starting point is 01:40:41 Yeah. You hit an area before you hit Belcher Town that's unsettled. It's just a bunch of woods. Yeah, yeah. And, you know, I really didn't, it struck me right away. I'm like, what is there out here? Because you want to think, your brain wants to put it in a place where you can understand it. And I'm like, what is there out here?
Starting point is 01:41:01 If there was somebody running around, what would be, where would you be going to? Why in the middle of the, you know, why dark in the woods? You can't really see too well. So it just struck me as bizarre. It made me feel in my gut there was something not right with it. Like I don't want to get out of this park. First I was like, I got to see this. What is this?
Starting point is 01:41:19 And then I thought it twice about it. And I was like, no, you don't want to be out there right now. That is very interesting right there. So it sounds like listening to the way you're describing it is that. So there's a big WMA. there to the that's probably the woods that you were talking about the Herman Covey WMA
Starting point is 01:41:41 Yeah it's just There's nothing there Hmm But it was past that You're saying It was past any kind of a structure It was in there's a strip of There's a small strip of woods
Starting point is 01:41:55 Before you start hitting Some there's like a place So they sell equipment and stuff On the left side of the road Before you get to Belcher town It was before that It was between it was in a place where there's not a whole lot of anything.
Starting point is 01:42:08 And there may be trails back there, but I don't know of them. Like the trails that I know, there's one you can hike up the Swift River to the dam. And there's some trails running back in there for people to walk around and hike and stuff. It was well past that. I don't know exactly. I probably if I was driving, I could point to you exactly where it was and give you like a mile marker or something like that. Because I think I can remember where I saw it. But it's not close to the Windsor Dam.
Starting point is 01:42:31 It's a few miles up the road. I think one of the most interesting things that you've said in your description is that you're saying that as it moved, it was turning its legs sideways? No, what I mean is, you ever see like every which way but loose? I hate to use a movie reference, but you see the way his pet orangutan walked around. When it started running, like when it broke out of the brush, it was, its feet were like sideways. It wasn't like, it wasn't walking in the street. Like we didn't walk in a straight line. Just put one foot in front of the other.
Starting point is 01:43:05 This thing was almost like the orangutan a little bit when it came out of the brush. And then it started moving. It saw the car or it must have been aware of the car and it hustled across the road. And when I say it moved. I mean, it was really fast. It took off. And I was thinking to myself, young man, I was like, as a young man, there was no way I could run like that. And it was gone.
Starting point is 01:43:26 It didn't slow down when it ran into the woods. It just kept going. That is such an interesting description. And remind me how approximately tall you would say it was. Hard to say. I know it struck me as like a tall human, but it didn't, you see, hear all these people talk about them being eight feet or anything. I didn't get that impression, but it's really hard for me to say.
Starting point is 01:43:51 It was, like I say, it was like 50 years, 50 to 70 yards up the road. It was not right in front of my car. It was far enough ahead of me that I could see. see it, but I don't know how exactly, I don't know how tall it was. It could have been, it could have been my size. I'm like six feet. And it could have been, it could have been my size. It could have been a little bit tall. I'm not really sure. But it struck me that it wasn't massive. It was like blanky and it had very long limbs. Like, like its arms were really long. It's a really unique report. There's a lot of, especially the way that you're talking about
Starting point is 01:44:26 how it, it's walking. I'm going to have to look up that movie again, probably maybe find a clip of it. If what I saw was one of them, they don't bounce like we do. When we run, there's definitely a up and down component like where we're bouncing. This thing just glided. It was smooth. You mentioned that you were not able to see the face, but it sounded like you got to see a silhouette or outline in a way. This is Daniel Fischel.
Starting point is 01:44:54 And Ryder Strong from PodMeets World. Cat parents unite. We have to look out for each other. Starting point is 01:47:20 in combination with resistance exercise. Enough of those, there was color to it. Like, I picked out that it was brown. It was definitely brown, but I didn't really see its facial features very distinctly because it was, there was enough shadow that I couldn't really make out space. But I think that would have freaked me out. I was actually glad I didn't because, in a way, I wish I did, but I was freaked out at that moment. Like I said, I saw this thing and my hackles went up because I knew something wasn't right.
Starting point is 01:47:48 Absolutely. And we didn't speak. My passenger and I wasn't alone. I had a witness. My passenger and I didn't speak for a minute. I didn't want to be the first one to say it. And we were just both stunned. And like I said, I've seen pretty.
Starting point is 01:48:04 much anything on the East Coast that you can see in the woods. I've seen Bot Cat, Links, I've seen bear, I've seen turkey, I've seen everything that you can, I've seen wild hogs, I've seen everything. And this was not one of those. And I'm pretty sure that it was not a human being. There's too many, just, it was by pedal, it was running on two feet. Could you see a shape to its head at all? I did.
Starting point is 01:48:30 It looked, the thing that really struck me, though, it wasn't the head per se. And I didn't see it, I didn't see it in perfect definition, but I will tell you the thing that really jumped out of me right away. I'm like, those things, proportions are all wrong. The arms really got me. And it was lengthy. It was long. And when it ran, it swung. It had these arms that were somewhere between its hip and its knee that were longer than hours.
Starting point is 01:48:58 And it swung them in a very pronounced way when it ran. Anything that you noticed about the, if there was like shoulder width or neck or anything like that? It was long. That's the thing that struck me. It was like skinny. And its legs were proportionally, like its arms were proportionally longer than its legs for us. Our legs are long and pretty even proportionally with our arms. This thing's arm's long.
Starting point is 01:49:28 Absolutely. And I want to try to get something across here because I know there's going to be a lot of listeners that are like, oh, a Massachusetts one. Oh, it was probably a monkey that escaped from the zoo in Boston or something. No, like, guys, you have to. I don't know of a primate, but that runs around the bottom. No, no. You have to understand the place that this is, it's an extremely wooded area with a very large reservoir, a huge water source, and a big food source as well.
Starting point is 01:50:00 I don't know if they, are there still deer all over the place down there? They opened up, they started opening up the deer for hunting in certain areas in the fall in the out of the deer population is pretty good, having hunted myself.
Starting point is 01:50:11 The other thing that is notable is a lot of the other wildlife. Like the gray wolves came down from Canada back. There was a program to reintroduce them. And I kind of questioned that because I've seen them and wolves can be dangerous. The other thing that,
Starting point is 01:50:27 that you see there in the state of Massachusetts is in denial. The Fish and Game Commission is in denial about the return of the Cooter. We got Cougar in there. And I haven't seen one personally, but I've seen a good picture of one that was taken near our dump in town. And I've had multiple reports of other guys that I fish and hunt with who have seen them up close. And there's Cooter in there, there's wolves in there. There's all kinds of wildlife. But I did not expect to see what I saw.
Starting point is 01:50:56 and I haven't seen it. It's notable that I've not seen another one since. Although there are people that claim they've seen them. And one guy, interesting, I told you about my son's friend who works with the BFRO. There's somebody who he belongs to. He asked me if I wanted to come out looking for them with him, and he claims that there's an albino one.
Starting point is 01:51:17 That's what struck me is really interesting. But I told him, I said, I'm good with not seeing another one, especially if I'm out in the woods. It's just, that would probably be freaking out. And I've seen a lot of things. I've seen bear. I've seen bear up close, actually. I've seen lots of wildlife.
Starting point is 01:51:33 I've seen moose. You don't want to get close to those either. No. But if this thing is, if this thing is out there, it's not in any great numbers because I would have seen it or some sign of it. Oh, yeah. Wow. That guy that, that BFRO investigator, it's hard to talk to. We can talk off, off error.
Starting point is 01:51:54 That's a guy I would love to talk to you, too. Maybe we'll talk off air about that. But yeah, the whole area, I've had people reach out to me about sightings in Granby and Mount Holyoke, like I was saying before. And have you heard other stories over the years of people having sightings in the same county area or further north? Just that, oh, just that one guy in my area. But I know a gentleman from Vermont who I've known ever since I was a kid. and he swam up in a place called Stetford. And I've been up there fishing with him around White River Junction.
Starting point is 01:52:32 And he told me he saw one hunting at one time. And it scared the living graph out of him. He said he was actually hiking towards a stand. And he saw this thing walking away from him. And he smelled it first. Like he said, they smelled pretty rank. Now, being in a car, I didn't have that sense. I didn't have that sense available to me.
Starting point is 01:52:51 But he says they smell terrible. And he says he could smell it. He was in a swampy area and he was walking towards his hunting location. And he changed his mind and he went back. He saw this thing walking that way. And he said it was massive, but he said it was black. And I know the guy. I've known him pretty well.
Starting point is 01:53:07 I don't think he would just make that up, at least not. I know him very well. And he's not the type of guy very much an outdoors like myself. And he's not the type of guy who's going to tell me that in a one-on-one scenario and be making it up. So he says he's seen one. that's the only other those two people are the only ones I know personally but mine was so random and so chance it like I said it I can still see it in my head it made that much of an impression on them it's just it's one of those fleeting things but it sticks with the person forever I
Starting point is 01:53:44 imagine it would stick with me forever as well if I ever am lucky enough to have a sighting But sometimes when people have these things happen, it will affect their lives in other ways or they'll start to experience other phenomena. Do you think it's affected you in any weird ways since you've had this sighting? Ever since I was a kid, my dad is he is my family on the North Carolina side. They're part Native American. And I don't feel that it's out of nature. It doesn't bother me. I'm good with it being out there.
Starting point is 01:54:20 I just don't want to provoke it anyway. And I look at it this way. It's got every right to be out there. And I think there's a lot of stuff going on. I think people out there know, particularly in our government or governments, because other governments have admitted these things exist. The governments in Southeast Asia pretty much take it as a, they have fossil record, too. That's a fossil record.
Starting point is 01:54:40 And they say these things exist. And our government, I think there's some reason why they don't want to admit it. I think there's true. I've seen it. And just once, but at once is enough for me. And I think that there's reasons why they don't want to admit they're out there. Maybe for reasons of protection, that sort of thing, legal reasons. Like I said, I think it's out there.
Starting point is 01:55:04 Absolutely. I do want to really quick, because I know the right people are listening to this one, hopefully. Guys, if you're listening and you have any other information about sightings, in this area or the Kawabin or Granby or there's a few of you. I know you've had sightings up in Northfield, Gill, Greenfield, Warwick, that area, but it's just hard to talk to you guys. I love if anyone could reach out and give me more information about sightings in the Franklin County area of Massachusetts, which is just north of this area as well.
Starting point is 01:55:43 But it's just, it's such a rare thing to have someone from your area come on the show. and Chris, I just want to say thank you so much for coming on and for sharing what you experienced back in 1992. Yeah, it was very informative. You know, changes your perspective a little bit. There are some people I think that are traumatized by it, and I'll be honest, I mean, it was shocking. But I wasn't scared. I wasn't scared per se, but I've always had a healthy respect for wild animals. and I would not want to confront one of these things.
Starting point is 01:56:21 I will not, I'll tell you to be honest, truth. I think it could be potentially dangerous if you go seek them out. I wouldn't do that. That's just me. I just happen to run into one. And they're like any wild thing out there. You don't know 100% how they'll react if they have young near them. Like one time my father and I walked into a mama with her cubs,
Starting point is 01:56:42 and that was the tense moment. Like, we just slowly backed off. These things will protect their young. They're wild things. And I think it's afraid. I think you shouldn't be terrified. I hear these stories about guys who sell their fishing stuff and won't go in the woods anymore. I'm not one of those.
Starting point is 01:56:57 But I wouldn't go looking for this thing. And I think that it could be potentially very, I mean, I was alarmed, but not terrified. There are some people that have a really bad reaction to seeing them or say they do. I don't think that's necessary. But at the same time, I'm content to leave them be they can do their thing. I think those are good words to end out with. And thank you again so much for coming on the show, Chris, and sharing what you experienced that day.
