Starting point is 00:02:29 All right, Bigfoot Society. I've got the privilege of talking to Chris today. Chris is an individual that is out there from the great state of Washington on the west side of the Olympic Peninsula. I became aware of Chris's encounters through my Facebook group I have, which is Bigfoot sightings and research. So check that out if you haven't. It's pretty awesome. Anyways, Chris, welcome to the show and a pleasure to have you here. Hey, good to be here.
Starting point is 00:03:01 Absolutely. So we did a pre-interview. That went great. Chris, I'm going to pass the mic over to you. And feel free to take us back to the first time when you started having some interactions or you had a sighting of Bigfoot. Yeah, sure. So my brother and I had friends that we grew up with that were the same. ages us and so we took took our bikes and we rode from our place to our friends
Starting point is 00:03:33 place and along the way we pulled our bikes up us incline onto the power lines when we got to the top of the power lines we heard this great big crunch and then we saw it looked like the back of some guy's head but larger with long black hair and so our friends as dad happened to be black hair and it looked almost like him from the backside. So we were like, how, very funny. We thought it was the kid's dad, so we're playing along with it. My brother and the younger friend went up the road further,
Starting point is 00:04:13 but me and the other friend stood there, and we started throwing rocks in because we didn't get any answers back. And the thing we know is we've got branches flying back out at us. And we're like, maybe this isn't your dad. after a little bit, my brother and the other guy come back, and we walked over to where we saw the black hairy head walk into the woods, and it dropped about a six-foot incline down the bank, and there was about a 10-foot log, a deadfall that was laying across right there
Starting point is 00:04:52 that was busted and half, freshly broken. And so we figure that the thing had to be at least eight to nine feet tall, considering what we saw from the head and the incline. So we were, wow, that was pretty neat. But within the same area, there was a guy that my dad worked with that had a resort up further along this river. And he had sightings all the time and heard them cry. So it was within a five-mile stretch or so from where we saw him to where he was always seeing him.
Starting point is 00:05:33 And living in this town for as long as I have, we've heard other people with experiences of hearing and seeing and all that. I was 12 years old, so I'm 52 now. So that was a bit of the time ago. So that was pretty much my first time seeing them. My second sighting happened to be just 24 years ago, 2000. I was taking a load of firewood out to another town. And I was following behind a car and it was just starting to get dusk. and I watched this large hairy shape
Starting point is 00:06:23 and was black hair and whatever on two legs and it come out of the tree line along the side of the road and fast walked right across the road in front of us into the tree line on the other side and what I thought was really peculiar was the fact that the car in front of me didn't hit its brakes or slow down or anything. It was like they didn't see it at all, yet it did pass in front of them, which it's a real interesting thing to me. That's probably within about 20 miles from where I've seen my first experience.
Starting point is 00:07:08 there's been a lot of activity that I've heard about them seeing them around this area. About five years ago, I actually ran into a guy that did Bigfoot searches and took people out on events looking for them. That was interesting. That was pretty much sums up my experience with. That's some very interesting stuff, Chris. Thank you for sharing. A few questions for you. On this show, I'm just going to ask this.
Starting point is 00:07:38 So you said western side of Olympic Peninsula, would you be comfortable with sharing the county or any details about the area? Yeah, I could move into it. Yeah. Okay. We live in Clown County and in the town of Port Angeles. Where I was taking a load of woodout was out to Forks. And Forks is another place that's notorious for weird happenings, thanks to Twilight, bringing some of it to light. But, yeah, a lot of the loggers have ran into them and all that.
Starting point is 00:08:13 Okay. It was interesting living here. So, Port Angeles, yeah, Port Angeles out to Forks, that's a bit of a drive. Absolutely, you got to drive around. I did that once, and there's a big lake you have to drive around. That was just beautiful. I remember that. Lake Crescent, yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:32 Yeah. Yeah. Lake Crescent. It's all glacier fed. And it's got a pocket of water in it that's so deep that they haven't been able to find the bottom really. And it's really funny because it's got a particular species of trout that the only other place it's found in the world is in Norway. It's called it Beardsley. So this place is really weird with the hot springs and big foots.
Starting point is 00:09:02 That's a whole rabbit trail probably how in the world does that happen where there's a trout that? that only lives in Washington and then over in a different country entirely. It's got to be some biologists that can clear that up. Back in the 80s and you had that sighting when you were a little kid, was that in Port Angeles area as well? Yeah, that was about seven or eight miles west of Port Angeles along the Elwall River. We've got Indian tribes here that have a lot of folklore with Bigfoot sightings too. So it would not be uncommon that people would run into them.
Starting point is 00:09:43 In the Port Angeles area? Port Angeles, forks, Joyce, basically from the Olympic mountains at the foothills and that. Absolutely. The branches that were getting thrown back at you, approximately how big do you remember those branches being? They were about four to five inches thick and about eight feet long. So it wasn't like just little branches. It was, you know, like it fell from a tree, been laying there, it still had green on it,
Starting point is 00:10:17 not something that a person could toss it far enough like that. Exactly. So you saw the back of the head you had mentioned. Do you remember approximately how large the head was if you could compare it to a common household item that you know of? I try to think. Probably like the opening of a 30-gallon, like about a 15-gallon household garbage can. So probably about 16 inches wide, 24 inches tall about what we saw.
Starting point is 00:10:49 The hair looked like to be about four to six inches long, pretty heavy strand, almost the thickness of like bare hair. So it was pretty coarse and was coarse enough that I could, I still remember the details of the hair length. on it. Absolutely. That is a large-sized head for sure, and that's sitting on top of an eight to nine foot tall creature you had approximately said, which is pretty wild. Did you smell any smells at that time or hear anything out of the ordinary? At the time, I can't remember that.
Starting point is 00:11:28 It was more about what I saw. Absolutely. Do you remember if there was a certain shape to the head at all? It just looked like a human head pretty much just come oversized. I didn't see the details of like ears or anything like that. So I would have had to been laid under the hair laying over the top of ears. Sometimes when people will talk about if they've seen a big foot, they'll mention the head was a certain shape,
Starting point is 00:12:03 but you're saying that it was closer to how a human's head would look then. Okay. Yeah. Interesting. You also mentioned there's a gentleman who had a resort in the area and he had some sightings that were relatively close to where yours was. Do you remember anything about the sightings that he had had? I remember him talking about hearing him crying, had visuals of them, the different noises they made like something. and all that.
Starting point is 00:12:42 I can't remember if he mentioned anything about any smells or what, but he definitely talked about the different sounds that they made. Is that a gentleman where you have contact with him? He used to have the Elwhal Resort. This was back in the 80s and then I don't know if there was some kind of a structural problem with the resort, but they closed it down and, there's been a lot of
Starting point is 00:13:10 re-happinings that they've got there going on because they've taken out the dams which had a lot of activity around it. So I don't know if there are much around there anymore or what's really going around right there. Yeah, of course. The sighting that you had on the way out to Forks, so what you saw cross the road,
Starting point is 00:13:37 in front of you, did that look similar to what you had seen as a younger child? Yes, it did. Okay, so same head shape, same size of head? Yeah. And it's funny because the depictions that they have, the little shapes or flax that they have of big foot walking with the arms spread, it's funny because they are so close to to what I saw that it's like whoever did these must have had sightings because they look so similar. Yeah, I mean, that would totally make sense because that famous silhouette is based on the Patterson Gimlin film, which is the best evidence that we have from back in 67.
Starting point is 00:14:32 So that is very interesting. So you're saying the way it was walking looked very close to that common public view of what Sasquatch looks like. Yeah, the stride with the arms moving as it walked across, Sass walked across the highway. Did you just see hair covering the creature? Could you see anything
Starting point is 00:14:53 under the hair as well when it moved across? It was far enough ahead of me. It was probably when it came out it was about 200 yards and as we got closer. So it was within between 200 and 150
Starting point is 00:15:13 yards of the distance of us traveling versus it coming out and crossing the road. And the car in front of me was at least 100 yards ahead of me. So I could see the shape. I could see the comparison between it and the car in front of me. Yet I wasn't close enough to really see the details of any facial features. There was bare hands, and it was at dusk. He was standing out enough and surprised that with his height crossing the road that I could see, but I wasn't close enough to get really too much details.
Starting point is 00:15:59 Sure. How many lanes to the road you were on? It's just a two lane, one way out, one way in. Okay. And how long do you think it took the Sasquatch across the road? A second and a half. Oh, wow. So it was just a few steps across then?
Starting point is 00:16:23 Yeah, it was taken probably about seven foot strides, six foot or seven, eight foot strides. It moved pretty good. I can't say seven or eight foot strides, but it was at least triple of what a six foot man would take. Sure. It's pretty good stride, pretty fast pace. So. Okay. Okay. Do you remember anything about the length of the arms as it crossed in front of you?
Starting point is 00:16:51 A hip level, just a little bit below the hip level. Gotcha. So the longest that the hands would come down, let's say you're picturing something with its arms hanging down by its side. The hands were down by the hips, you would say? Yeah. Okay. All right, all right. When it crossed in front of you, were you able to see anything, any facial features or anything like that? No, it was far enough ahead of me, and it was just the right getting dark enough that I could only see its shape and its movement. I couldn't see facial features or anything like that.
Starting point is 00:17:34 Just in case, I don't think it was said, maybe it was, but did you notice any color to it? during that crossing really dark brown if not black gotcha so have you you mentioned that there's a lot of loggers that also have sightings in this area yeah yeah is this by any certain landmarks or mile markers or anything not too much really everywhere from i haven't i heard a lot about them from forks in that area the forks to clear water the hole not really mile markers or anything these guys get out there miles in the woods and they get out there when it's dark and fine to start working and they work all day and oh so you're saying these aren't just guys driving logging trucks down the highway these are guys out in the woods on service roads
Starting point is 00:18:47 service roads, cutting trees. You've got the guys driving trucks out of the timber that, you know, have seen them as well. But most of them are the guys cutting that have had the experiences with them. Now, just based on what you've heard, these guys are out there cutting wood, way out in the woods. What kind of encounters are these? Are they just randomly have a sighting or are, is there any sort of, yeah, okay. I've never heard anything about them attacking anybody or getting physical or coming up close to scare them. But it's been just sightings where they're moving out of one place to another.
Starting point is 00:19:37 The one guy I know that did the Bigsfoot sightings or the searches and hunts and everything like that, he had talked about seeing these nests and all that. And it's like, if I've seen them, they didn't look anything out of the ordinary that they stood out to me growing up here, talking about trees laying in other trees a certain way, all that. I haven't seen that either. He did talk about, this is interesting because I talked about this couple that had a cabin and it kept getting the door messed with and broken into and all of that. And so they put a piece of plywood with screws in it laying face up. They put it in front of the door. And they were able to get hair samples and blood samples from it.
Starting point is 00:20:33 And they sent it to the University of Washington. And from what he said that there was nothing that they had on record that matched the blood samples and the hair follicles that they found. That's really interesting. That sounds very close to something that happened in Snell Grove Lake area of Canada. I think it was Ontario back in the, I want to say it's back in the 2000s maybe is a Monster Quest. Doug Hichick. That's really interesting. So do you know if this guy still does, takes people out?
Starting point is 00:21:12 No, he doesn't. Okay. Is that a guy where you, do you remember his name at all? Yeah, his name was James Million. Okay, he would be out of the same area, Olympic Peninsula area. He's on the south-southeast side of it. There's a lot to dig into off of what you've shared. I appreciate that.
Starting point is 00:21:45 From what you encountered over the years, do you have any ideas of what it is that you maybe saw would you think it was more perhaps an ape or some kind of human type creature? From what I've seen it look more humanoid because it was not much different than the shape of an average human just three to four feet taller. From the one video that they have of the side big first big foot siding, it wasn't. It wasn't as thick as that one was, the one I saw in 2020. It was a little bit slender. I mean, it was basically, you know, to size as a regular person just at about eight to nine feet tall.
Starting point is 00:22:41 That's really interesting. Have you heard of any sightings in your area recently? My mom and my sister helped you a camp on the west side of Lake Crescent, and the park ranger there was talking about some of his sightings and encounters that he's had with them. I can't remember. I can't say if he had sightings, but he said he's definitely had encounters with hearing him. and different things laying around or stuff that's abnormal that a person couldn't do, but it's nothing that an animal, a bear, or anything like that would do. That's extremely interesting. So you're saying there's some ranger station around that area, potentially?
Starting point is 00:23:41 It's Camp David Jr. on the other side of Lake Crescent. And the ranger lives there usually on site. Gotcha. And I think he takes care of the little park that's on by Fair Home that's there. Okay. But he had some stories too. Very interesting. Chris, this has been a fun chat about an area I don't get to spend a lot of time talking about.
Starting point is 00:24:11 I know there's been recent sightings over there in Forks and you can read those accounts on BFRO.net, you might be aware of that website or Bigfoot Map, Bigfoot mapping project, Bigfootmap.com, I believe it is. But I appreciate you, Sharon, what you experienced through your life and giving some interesting info of maybe some leads to follow up. Thank you, Chris. Hey, you're welcome.
