Bigfoot Society - Sasquatch Stared Through Her Soul on Blewett Pass | Washington

Episode Date: October 11, 2025

What happens when a woman and her friend takes a winding mountain pass home through the icy dusk of Washington’s Blewett Pass — and locks eyes with a creature she was never meant to see? In this e...motional and unsettling episode, we sit down with Brenda Burgett, a lifelong Washingtonian and author, who opens up about her chilling 1990s encounter with a massive, intelligent creature unlike anything she’s ever known. What began as a routine drive through black ice quickly spiraled into a surreal, terrifying moment that erased memories, shook her beliefs, and opened doors into something deeper. You’ll hear about her friend’s desire to help “the man,” the shared amnesia, and how this one moment would unlock decades of buried spiritual experiences. With connections to Leavenworth and echoes of other paranormal encounters across the state, Brenda’s story is a powerful reminder: sometimes Bigfoot finds you.🗣️ Share Your StoryHad a Bigfoot encounter or strange experience?Send it to bigfootsociety@gmail.com – your story might be featured on the show!🎥 Watch & Subscribe on YouTube🔴 Subscribe here → Bigfoot Society YouTube💬 Leave a comment & let us know your thoughts!📞 Leave a voicemail with your story → Speakpipe (Use multiple voicemails if needed)👥 Share this episode → Watch & Share🎧 More episodes → Podcast Playlist🌲 Recommended: New Jersey Bigfoot Encounters💥 Support the Show & Get Perks✅ Join the community on Supercast – Become a Member✅ Listen ad-free & early on YouTube – Join Here📱 Let’s ConnectInstagram: @bigfootsocietyTwitter: @bigfoot_societyTikTok: @bigfoot.society🧰 Tools & Partners I Use (Affiliate Links)These help support the show at no extra cost to you:Beam (Better Sleep): Try BeamWildgrain (Better Bread): Join HereSeed (Probiotics): Get SeedMedi-Share (Healthcare): Learn MoreLMNT (Electrolytes) Free Sample Pack with your first purchase! : Get LMNTOrganic and non-GMO groceries delivered for lesshttp://thrv.me/uarEhS🎙️ Podcasting Tools:Repurpose.io: Try ItDescript: Sign UpStreamyard: Start RecordingRiverside.fm: Try Riverside🎧 My Audio Interface: View on Amazon☕ Buy Me a Coffee – Support Here🛍️ Grab Some Merch – Shop on Etsy📬 Mailing Address:Bigfoot Society125 E 1st St. #233Earlham, IA 50072📧 Business Inquiries:bigfootsociety@gmail.com

Starting point is 00:01:54 All right, Bigfoot Society. You've got the privilege of talking to Brenda Burgett today. Brenda is a retired real estate broker and an author out there in the state of Washington. But welcome to the show, Brenda. How are you doing today? I'm doing great. Thank you for having me. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:02:13 You know, you had reached out about something that happened to you. I believe it was back a while ago, back in the mid-90s, in an area. that we haven't really heard a lot about from yet in Washington. So, you know, I want to make sure that you have the time to share your account of what happened to you. And feel free to take us back to, you know, that time in the mid-90s and what you experienced that day. Okay. I'd love to. I do think that there was a citing reported about, oh, up past Leavenworth, not too long ago.
Starting point is 00:02:55 actually hit our pit newspaper, I think. But I hadn't heard about anything in this area. And it was February and on Blewett Pass. And I had gone, I'd been to Seattle to shop or do something. And it was a time in my life where I was busy making my career work and my spiritual life, it was on a hold pattern. It was, roads were really icy. And my friend, who is still my friend, would like to keep her privacy.
Starting point is 00:03:36 So I tried to tell you her version as well as mine. But we were going around these very steep paths of the road, Bluett Pass has some hairpin turns. And the roads, again, were black ice. So I was driving really slow. And there was like a curve coming up or a little, it was like a place where they have pylasters that hold the snow up, which can go up as high as 12 feet, but it's meant to keep the snow from coming onto the road. And I was just, all of a sudden I had this for Bowdoin's. It was like something's coming up and even now the hair stands up on my arms.
Starting point is 00:04:28 And my friend who is polar opposite of me, she's brave, she's whatever, she believes favor, you know, bold favors people and you need to go for it. She's a commercial airline pilot. But I, on the other hand, prefer to be, I skirt around it, the supernatural. But anyway, when it rounded the corner to the right, up against the embankment and the pilasters, was this man. I thought it was a man, but it wasn't a man. It had to be later, you know, tall, very, very tall, and very long. arms and again how I remember all this with the brief time I was there I couldn't tell you but he had
Starting point is 00:05:23 very long hairy arms as he was hairy but his chest seemed to be like a there was very little hair and it was dark it was just dusk at the time so it was hard but everything is so vivid And when I looked at him, his eyes were amazing. And since then, I thought, they were blue, were they green, were they red, what were they? I don't really remember that. She remembers him as being very large and intense. I don't remember that part of it. But he was looking at us and he was very surprised.
Starting point is 00:06:05 And his arms went down past his knees. and he's covered in here and her thirish thought was oh my goodness his man may have been in an accident and we need to stop and save him and she told me later well I thought we'd just take him clean him up and get him some help and it was like
Starting point is 00:06:25 first thing out of my mouth was no she'd never heard me talk like that to her before and she was just looked at me like how could you say that but not until we'd pass him and he was looking at us. I had a fear. I've got to admit, I was terrified. The roads were slick. I am a coward on bad roads that I sped up. And there was a hairline corner and my friend thought, she's going to dump us in the ravine. I didn't, but I had this feeling that this, whatever
Starting point is 00:07:05 it was, if it wanted to, could be in our backseat any time it chose to. I don't get it. Still don't understand, but yet I do. Anyway, we were very silent all the way back. And when we got to the road, you go to the left, Leavenworth, you go to the right, Renanche. All of our, both our memories just were erased. I don't get it. I still don't understand it, but yet I kind of do. Anyway, we went home. Neither one of us brought it up again, and then maybe five years ago, she calls and she said, were you the one I was with, where is you the one I was with, that saw that thing on the past? And I said, no, I know, it wasn't me, wasn't me?
Starting point is 00:08:02 And I said, it was me. And all of a sudden, the memories started coming back. And we compared notes and compared the different feelings, which is just amazing to me. Because being, you know, the basic conservative chicken that I happened to be at times, I just wanted to get out of there. I felt like that we were in an area we didn't belong. and I needed to get us safely out of there. She was more compassionate,
Starting point is 00:08:37 and since then she felt like that she made a real connection with him. I did too, but on a different level, which is interesting. We started talking and comparing notes, and she has an extreme desire to remain anonymous, and I totally respect it. I wish she would talk to you, but I'll try to be as fair as I can about it. her point of view.
Starting point is 00:09:03 But hers was, it opened up a part of her that she had, she'd seen a spaceship when she was younger and so that brought back memories of that. And for me, I had put my spiritual life on hold. And now at this time, you know, I've got time. I can do this. And I, you know, I've done a lot of things since then. But everything is making more sense now. And like I told you when we began talking earlier, when I saw the episode about the gentleman
Starting point is 00:09:40 that was the Otter Man series, the San Juan Islands, which is away from where I live, and it was like over. And yet you kept asking him questions, and he gradually revealed a little more about himself and how with his Irish background, which I'd have as well. And my gifts that were not going to talk about today, it just resounded with me, and I realized how important what you're doing really is. This is not just a creature or a being or something that so many people now have seen.
Starting point is 00:10:29 and thank goodness for now. But I almost feel like there's a deeper meaning, and those are that want to be connected can be. And I watch a lot of the Bigfoot information on YouTube and the shows. And I guess I really appreciate this time in my life and how important it might be for people who have had similar experience, experiences that can connect and know that it's okay. It really is okay and maybe desirable and worth your while to investigate and open your minds a little. And I don't really have a great
Starting point is 00:11:19 need to preach, although I'm really good at it if you want me to. That's awesome. Wow, what an incredible encounter and listeners might they might say hey this sounds familiar from a few back this is actually you had left a voicemail for us too which if listeners didn't know they can do that they can do that over a Bigfoot Society podcast you can record a voicemail and then have it sent directly to me if you'd like so maybe a few few questions for you do you remember anything about the face or the eyes or any details that you saw? I remember the face, but you know, I'm not sure if my memory has changed things, but I don't think so. And when I first looked at this creature, it looked like a man with a man with,
Starting point is 00:12:25 with maybe some emotional mental problems, only very big. And I don't know how I got all of this out of maybe a 10-second siting at the very most. But I got more information as time went on and as I remembered it. But he had a, his cheeks were definitely higher. And he had, he was black and brown, like they say, and his fingers were very long. Just arms were exceptionally long. And he had fur, but there was some, like, skin of some dark, dark, dark, dirty-looking skin.
Starting point is 00:13:06 And his face was dirty, very dirty, which probably meant it was just brown. And he was surprised, but yet it was like he knew who I was. It was like, like, I knew I was going to see something before I saw it. it was a very weird feeling. He had ears, kind of, I think. And, but the hair on his head was, it kind of was like a man would be with very rumpled-looking hair
Starting point is 00:13:39 that hadn't been taken care of. So, and he wasn't fat, but he was huge. Huge isn't tall? All. and like I say not a huge he was like a very large man sure how tall would you estimate that it might have been I'm seven or eight feet okay the longer it goes on the taller the guy gets you know how that works so it's it's very evident you have a great way of describing things you can tell that you were that you're a writer your author. It's very cool.
Starting point is 00:14:23 Let's see. Let's see. You mentioned that it looked surprised to you. Were there certain things that you noticed about it that made you think that it was surprised? His mouth was slightly open and it seemed to lean forward
Starting point is 00:14:39 like it was really looking. And I guess it was a feeling too, a shared feeling. Mutual surprise and fear on my part and I don't think he had any fear on his part. And my friend, of course, wanted to clean him up and take care of him. He was like, gal, no.
Starting point is 00:15:03 No, not happening in this car, right? Yeah, absolutely. That would be funny, though. It would be like Harry and the Henderson's kind of. Well, she said we couldn't have taken him to the mall and got him cleaned up. We were both laughing. Right. Humor saves us. But I said, that wasn't going to happen. And she said, I'd never heard you say no, ever.
Starting point is 00:15:25 And we'd known each other quite a while, so it was interesting. With its mouth open, were you able to see anything, any details about the teeth at all? You know, everything seemed really dirty. I mean, like, yeah. I'm kind of doubtful that there's any, that they breast. their teeth, but it just looked like looking into the mouth, almost an animal feeling, but much, much smarter. Sure. Being the time that you saw it was around dusk, did you notice anything about the eyes at all?
Starting point is 00:16:12 This is something that's totally changes because of other experiences I've had that don't relate to Bigfoot. I see bright blue sometimes, and then when I look, I think about it. And then when I really zero in, it was more like an orangey, gold, red look. That's very interesting. Yeah, I'm sorry. That's the best I can do with that. No, memories can be a really interesting thing, which is why I try to write down stuff after it happens, especially when I go out. because, I mean, listening to your voicemail when you had sent that a few days ago,
Starting point is 00:16:57 I think you'd even mention that there might have been a type of yellow-green eyes as well. Yes. Yellow-y-green red definitely stood out from his dark body. Absolutely. Was there a shape to the head at all? Yeah, it was like a, oh gosh, you know, like a large man's head. Okay. Very big head.
Starting point is 00:17:30 Gotcha. So you would say more like a normal man, man's looking head, the shape of that, maybe not so much the shape of like a gorilla or something like that. I could have had that as well. It was something I had not seen before. So trying to figure it all out was like it was just who he was. It was unique. He wasn't an animal. He wasn't a man.
Starting point is 00:17:56 He was something in between. Absolutely. And that's something that you do hear a lot, although a lot of people that I talk to seem to maybe lean more towards there's something human about it. I wasn't able to, if I had it in my sights, I wasn't able to pull the trigger, et cetera, things like that. was something too human about it, which is very interesting to hear. Now, after you had some thinking through a few things, because you said that your memory really had gone away of this whole situation until your friend brought it up. But after this happened. Her memory went away too. It just, it came to her and she was compelled to call me.
Starting point is 00:18:42 after this happened though did you have anything and i know this is skirting on territory that we might not want to talk about but um did you have anything happen out of the ordinary perhaps maybe like really intense dreams or anything like that i had looking back looking back at the entire situation and and putting trying to make some right make rhyme a reason of it i like i said earlier was denying my own spirituality because I grew up hearing people said, well, you know, that's Brenda, you know how she is? Well, I really didn't know how she was, but apparently I was different. And at this time in my life, I was trying to establish a career and get where I was going professionally. And I didn't really want to deal with anything other than that. And I
Starting point is 00:19:38 fought it. And after this happened, I had a knowing that it was time for me to invite who I was into the picture. And that was not an easy thing for me, not an easy thing at all. That meant stepping out and risking my career and ridicule from my family and people. I won't say friends, because friends don't do that. But it did open up that part of my life. And I had the desire, the need, almost like a hunger to see what else was there in my life. I continued to do my business and was successful for quite a while. But the need to look for the paranormal, supernatural, whatever you want to call it,
Starting point is 00:20:30 was bordering between the spiritual and that. there was an area in there I wanted to know about. And I believe now that with that sighting came that opening of a part of my life that allowed me to say, okay. And I remember at one time my life saying, okay, okay, okay, bring it on. I'm ready. And then bring it on it did. It's been a ride since then. And I, yeah, I'm just so happy.
Starting point is 00:21:03 to be where I'm at at this time in my life when people like you are making all of this information or as much as you can get available to other people. And if there's such a need, validation of people that are a little bit different
Starting point is 00:21:23 and or have the need to know more. So I'm going to thank you again for that. I think you're amazing. Thank you. I mean, I think it's important that there's a lot of shows out there that are able to give platforms for people to share what they've experienced. And why do you think that this time of history is important for people to get things like that out there? Do you think it's different from any other time? Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:21:58 And, you know, I'm in the very last chapter of my life and happy to be here. And now is the time when people have an expectation of more. And there's fear that comes with that. You know, I just keep thinking that the thing that kept me going when I was working and trying to accomplish something is nothing worth having comes without a little bit of anxiety. anxiety can be fear doubts whatever but it's when you walk through that fear and say okay bring it on and now is that time in my mind i'm excited i'm not afraid anymore i mean what are you going to do to me i've already been there and if you could i might just be okay with it but it's not that way anymore
Starting point is 00:22:53 People are almost, we're getting there allowed to be who they are and have an opinion other than the majority. But I think there's more of us now. I know there's more people now that believe the way I do. And it's good to have company. It is. It is, it's something that I've noticed actually at the last two events that I've been part at, is that there's actually, it's not so much, it's not so much me talking to people that are at the booth. It's that people are coming up, and especially in Oregon, there were five to six conversations happening at my booth, just people finding each other and then just talking with each other.
Starting point is 00:23:46 And there's really that, like, people want to find other people that are similar to, you know, they've gone through what they've experienced. But it is another interesting pattern I find is that, and this is kind of like your story too, is that people experience this interaction, and then it kind of either unlocks something in their life or really brings it to the surface.
Starting point is 00:24:12 And do you have any thoughts about, like, what the connection between a Bigfoot encounter and unlocking, things in your own life might be, whether it's paranormal or not? I don't bother myself with a lot of details. I go with my feeling. All I can tell you with myself is it just opened a door.
Starting point is 00:24:45 And I've enjoyed the people that have been brought into my life because, you know, you can Google me or whatever and find out who I really am. But again, I don't want this to be all about me. I just feel like it was just something that had to happen. It was a huge opening for me. And I'd had several experiences as a little girl and buried him. And my mother would say to me, bless her little heart, just don't talk about it. So anyway, now I can talk about it. Everybody can talk about it. Everybody can talk about it. Anybody that wants to hear or doesn't want to hear sometimes. But I'm very okay with people saying, oh, yeah, that's just the way she is. And yeah, Bigfoot, uh-huh.
Starting point is 00:25:36 Hmm, okay, listen or don't listen. Your choice, free will. That's why we're here. Exactly. So was it a common occurrence where you would be able to sense things that would happen before they happened, kind of like how you knew that something was happening before you actually saw the Bigfoot? Oh, yes.
Starting point is 00:25:57 Yeah, really definitely. Yeah. I got shown things when I was a child, and I got used to seeing things that were really out of the, very much out of my realm and being okay with it. And I've had,
Starting point is 00:26:14 and I very much believe in God's source energy. And, you know, I've had such good guidance in my life, and I did, always take it. But, you know, everything is, anything is possible if you want it to be. And I'm just excited about, and I think Bigfoot is such a big part of this. You know, it's, yes, it's supernatural. I think it is. But I think it's more natural than a lot of things we see today. So am I talking in circles? Well, I mean, it's one of those things where it is very hard to understand because on the one hand, you have something where, you know, leaving tracks, right? Physical in some way, perhaps. But on the other way, you have, it is affecting people.
Starting point is 00:27:08 There are very strange things that are seen. So things that are outside of the understanding of mainstream science. And it's just, it's very hard to get your mind. around it, I think. I got some guidance I'll share with you if you want to hear it. Sure. I was kind of told
Starting point is 00:27:29 from my whatever's that I'm to walk to earth and leave a gentle footprint and forgive others like I'd like to be forgiven if I need be and I do. But also leave a path
Starting point is 00:27:45 that maybe will help other people get where they're going, not in my steps, but beside me and around. me. And kindness is always first. I think that that's great advice, you know, to get and to also to give for sure. What you saw that day, would you ever want to see something like that again? Well, yes, I think so.
Starting point is 00:28:17 I think I'm ready for it. I know that my daughter and her husband camp up in that area, and we laugh. We have a lot of humor, and she would love to see it. And funny enough, some black form went by their RV window, and of course they convinced each other it was a wolf. Well, the windows are probably five or six feet high, so go figure that one. But yeah, I would welcome it. Wow, yeah, that would be an extremely large wolf, and that was in the Blewett Pass area as well.
Starting point is 00:28:55 Yes, I better not say where. Oh, sure. We'll leave it at that. No problem. You're good. Yeah, good stuff, good stuff. Wow. Brenda, I am so glad you're able to come on the show today and to spend a bit of time sharing about what you experienced in the, in the Blue at Pass area of Washington.
Starting point is 00:29:15 hopefully this will unlock maybe a memory or two in a listener's mind and maybe they'll be able to reach out as well. But I want to make sure that you were able to share everything that you came on on the show to share today, Brenda. I certainly have and probably more than I intended. You're a very good narrator. Awesome. Thank you so much. It's a pleasure talking to you today. And nice talking with you and have a nice day.
