Starting point is 00:02:53 Society. And now on with the show. All right, Bigfoot Society. We've got the privilege of talking to a new friend, Keith calling in from Vancouver Island. How's it going today? Keith? Really good.
Starting point is 00:03:08 Decent weather here. Nice. Still got snow up there? Yeah, we don't. On the west side, it's really nice and wet. I just came back on the east side. There are the researchers. Okay.
Starting point is 00:03:50 And we just spent tonight. So it sounds like you've been looking into Sasquatch for a long time out there. How did you get started with that, Keith? Company and the natives that we traveled with back is trying to, you know, there's, you know, there's, you know, there's, you know, there's, you know, how did you get started with that. And, you know, in the villages back in the 1800s, the Sasquatch would reach in, the kids would sleep in the middle of the floor, not in the edges, because the Sasquot would reach into the bungalows and try to grab the case. Back to the 1800s on Vancouver Island.
Starting point is 00:05:31 If you look up the story about Mushlet Harry, an old native travel dates back to the 1800s of Sasquatch had been on Vancouver Island, which is really cool because, from the mainland on the east side, actually commute from Alert Bay over to the islands and the Island Hop. They come to Alert Bay and they do a lot of howling up at the area that send me a bunch of howls and grew up there on the east side and the four researchers that we met up there got some really good howls and barks and tree knocks and we did. just set up a sound recorder in the bush
Starting point is 00:07:09 up on the ridge below where they were camping. And they said, we caught some good in full. The saskatch was such a cool habitat. You know, we got saskwaters that live basically on the ocean, eating clams,
Starting point is 00:07:30 seal of anything on the ocean. You know, it was so abundant. And then we got ones that chased elk in the forest. You know, I really believe that some of the Saskwark has heard them up into a valley in the wintertime and will feed off of them during the winters.
Starting point is 00:07:53 So here is such a good food for Saskatchewart. It's a beautiful habitat. Vancouver Islands are about 1,000 miles long and maybe 75 miles wide at the widest points. And the west side of it is in the China on the west side. But you either fly in helicopter, seaplane, or boat. They're really nice. Lert Bay is a Saskwark Haven. The Saskwark just swim over from Maine.
Starting point is 00:08:44 I'm over there for some reason. And spend a lot of time on the beaches, picking clamshells, and Lert Bay is a real hot spot for her. She has a baseball-sized boulder with throwing at a tree, five feet away from her. the campsite. They're travel that far to get saskwatches.
Starting point is 00:10:13 We've had them in town, Cedgings. We've had one at the water tower, one at the reserve out here, and within two miles of town, the reserve,
Starting point is 00:10:26 the water tower is half a mile up by the water tower, and the saskwashed walked right in front of him, and the guy didn't believe in them. Until then, he just lived in non-believer.
Starting point is 00:10:43 right in town. That's really nice for Gold River, but we are settled in the bush. We do with bears, a lot of black bears in Gold River, and the island, cougars, wolves, and there's probably about 40 grizzly bears up at the north end of the island now. Quite a variety of animals. Army base, a little bit of research, set some sound equipment up. I think it's a Sasquatch on the beach eating clamshells. So that's their goal. That sounds fantastic. Keith, I have a question for you. Okay.
Starting point is 00:12:12 I'm just going to throw one in. Yeah. You mentioned you have grizzly bears around the area. And I've talked to a gentleman in Montana, and he said there's times when the Sasquatch will almost fight the grizzlies. found grislies that have their necks broken. Have you ever heard any experiences
Starting point is 00:12:35 where the Sasquatch are going up against the larger predators in the area of the River or anything? The grizzlies, I don't know, but the bears won't. Yeah, the black bears are taking them across about three playing there. No bullet wound. It's not
Starting point is 00:13:46 hunting season. Good luck, and but yep, there is a travest. Lots of logging roads. I mean, there's lots of access. You know, 90% of Vancouver Islands logged. So that's the sad part. It's really nice. The parks of the island, it's really nice. Nipkish Valley has really grown over view. He's got caves running up and down in Nipkish Valley. Just about every mountain will have a cave unit somewhere in this. So I found, loggers I know, found a giant cave. One guy went in 300 feet by himself. And he said he can stand up the hole all the way, but he came back after about
Starting point is 00:15:02 three feet of it. He wrote there this summer, set up a few trail cameras, sound equipment, over by that area, and then camp for about eight days out in that area. A Sasquatch will come to camp. And they'd watch Vancouver out and grow into what this today. We've got residential saskatches and we got island hoppers. Keith, what is it like when a Sasquatch comes into your camp? To make, there's a giant picnic table there, and the picnic table must have about 80 yards towards the lake. And there's a little trail that walks towards the lake, and then you come across the
Starting point is 00:16:30 picnic table, make a left, and go down three steps, and you're on the lake. And it's just a giant picnic table. something made out of some old wood that was falling over in the wind blow. One night, 10 o'clock a night, day four, day five, we're out there, 10 o'clock a night, and we hear this knock. You can't control that. And then the adrenaline. But, you know, we looked at it.
Starting point is 00:17:11 You know what to do? It was like, it was so clear, so loud, 10 o'clock in night, I mean, it is pitch. We got going to the fire. No lanterns, no flashlight's handy to grab and run. to the picnic we did not investigate it. Him and I just sat there, and we never heard a thing after that. Starting point is 00:20:03 in combination with resistant exercise. I think it walked along. Stay tuned for more Bigfoot Society. We'll be right back after these messages. You know, we came to a rock. Climbed up through the moss. Was ripped off to rock in certain areas. I mean, that's what a good.
Starting point is 00:21:09 Campanji climbing up there, an 1,800-pound one. You know, it was nothing. I came back down to camp. I had my video camera going, and I was telling people that we were up this ridge, up this mountain, trying to, you know,
Starting point is 00:21:29 chasing us up. I got out earlier. I got nine whoops and I'm videotaping. Okay. Mm. Rotten meat across a dead deer or something about
Starting point is 00:22:20 Squatiriet. I've never come anything like I've never come across here. On the main land day, I've heard stories, you know, a four foot round tree
Starting point is 00:22:45 will be wedged up against another one and then four or five of their smaller, longer poles and be jammed up against him. I've never
Starting point is 00:22:59 found those. And it's really hard. They make a gorilla out here on the island. They don't make houses. You won't find any tree structures where you climb into it and branches. Sorry, Keith. Have you, have you found nest sites then? It's hard to say because the ground out here. Sure. A bunch of the Sasquatch in the background by those three altar trees. Young Sasquatch. It's not an old one. She's young. Young, blind. one with a Sasquatch. So I went and said a trail camera up there, you know, the elk were up there a while ago. There's lots of fresh cat, a few deer. So I said, oh, I was too. So the elk or the trail camera up, maybe we'll catch an elk or the deer, maybe even a Sasquatch. So I've got a Sasquack and or a trail cam in the area where I've got a picture of a Sasquack. It was like, oh, you're a caught. Something was following. us, but you don't hear a lot. Our bush is really quiet. We heard maybe four birds today when we're out for three hours, hiking around today at one's lakes, me and two buddies. And we're talking about deer and elk while we're hiking. You don't see much noise in the forest, even walking, is one of our lakes. Trails back there for the people to walk. It'll see
Starting point is 00:26:05 So I was up there today, just hiking around. And we're talking about, like, they run, a deer. Our valleys echo. If you start off the highway and start driving down the valley, that car will echo four miles down the valley. Everything hears you coming. Sasquatch is here. I found the best way to find the Sasquatch is let him come to you.
Starting point is 00:26:35 and that's why we spend days at the campsite. The longs they've been out camping with activities, 20 days. Me and a guy, I brought a guy in from Hope, and him and I spent 20 days in the bush, and that was really interesting. We had no equipment. I'm retired. I don't make a living anymore.
Starting point is 00:27:11 So I don't have any equipment on sound equipment. and, you know, I wouldn't know big mics with a dish. That'd be really cool to have. And night vision. Now, wow, there we go. I've had a friend of mine that had, you know, $3,000 goggles, $3,000 goggles for night vision. Boy, it's like, look, in the daytime. It's $3,000.
Starting point is 00:27:39 I don't have that kind of money. Oh, sure. It's the amount of money you can put into gear is pretty, I don't know. this world, yeah. Yeah, a friend of mine just spent 500 bucks for sound recorder. You know, but it was built. There you go. And it's beautiful.
Starting point is 00:28:21 I spend time anywhere in this forest. Keith, going back to how you mentioned that you grew up, you know, around the the Indian culture, do you happen to remember any other stories of Sasquatch that you would have heard growing up that you would have heard growing up that you. you can share, if not, that's no problem. You know, Squat is on the east side
Starting point is 00:29:43 because they'd be camping in Sasquot area and the Sasquarkers knew it and they would leave give the fish for them when they would leave camp for not bugging them. I'm in the camp and steal. Which would cry every time
Starting point is 00:30:20 they'd spend the night in the forest hiking on the way in the camp river. And back here since, you know, 1800s, 1800s as much of the heritage. Yeah, there's not many, um, I don't know what you're going to run you.
Starting point is 00:30:56 Keith, I appreciate your chat. And I've got a curveball question for you. As, you know, we've been talking for a half an hour. I appreciate your time. I'm going to throw a curveball in here and see if it lands. If it doesn't, then that's no problem. But the thing I love about Canada is that up there, there's plenty of these stories about dinosaurs and things seen,
Starting point is 00:31:23 prehistoric creatures. You've got the Partridge Creek monster. You've got the Nahani Valley where supposedly there's an undiscovered valley of prehistoric creatures. You hear stuff like that. Does that jog your mind to any stories at all that you've heard over the years? If not, don't worry about it. To see you find a big skeleton on one of the rivers down the island. It's in one of the museums on you out of here.
Starting point is 00:32:24 Oh, really? So there was a real... Oh, sure. Yeah. But that skill... I know I've been there looking and it's like, oh, you know, you know dinosaurs I've had to have been here. Oh, sure. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:33 Keith, one last question before I let you go. Has there ever been a time that you can think of over the years of researching in the bush, being out there for days at a time where it was so weird. something was so off that you're like, you know, I'd rather not be here right now. It's just,
Starting point is 00:33:55 you just got the chills, anything like that. I'm going to head to McCree. It's only about three. I broke down the cross ditch. I hit it too hard, bust my keep, set up a tent.
Starting point is 00:34:31 My buddy went and crashed in there. I spent the night on a fire, sitting by a fire, all night behind me. Not big one, just into logging road. But then he's going, here snap. It would sit down and break a branch or twig. Not a big twig, but just, you know,
Starting point is 00:34:53 something like a side of a toothpick and you're here. And I turned around and couldn't see the weird night. But all night until dusk, when I could see the silhouettes of the trees and the mountains, it left, whatever it was. But it stayed there for about five hours, dropping rocks on the road and just breaking the branches, but it never moved. It stayed in that one place behind me. And I never got the nerve to stand up. I didn't have a flashlight because I didn't have one. And I wasn't expecting to break down at 12 o'clock at night.
Starting point is 00:35:41 Yeah, that's the only freaky thing I ever had where I knew I shouldn't have been. It was like, I'm on my own, buddy sleeping in tent. Yeah. I'm sick. Yeah. That's funny. Uh-huh. Uh-huh.
Starting point is 00:36:11 Yeah. Wow. Very cool. That's a cool story, Keith. I shouldn't be here. I appreciate you chatting with me tonight. Keep me in mind if anything else weird happens in the future, hit me up on Facebook, let me know, and maybe we can get a new chat with you in the future. But hold on for one minute, but thanks so much for talking tonight, Keith.
