Hi there. How are you?
Good, how you doing?
Good. Are you coming up to share a Bigfoot story?
Yeah, actually. You were looking for a Bigfoot story in Missouri.
Oh, yeah. Feel free to share what you know about Missouri Bigfoot, sir.
Okay. Well, I'm 54 now. I was 16 then.
So that had been in 1987.
It was south of Bethany, Missouri.
And I had the, it was nighttime when I had the horses out,
out in the pasture.
And I always kept two horses in, so I could go out and bring the horses in at night.
And so I went out there to go bring them in.
It was dark.
And I don't know if you are the listeners.
remember but you remember those little plastic real cheap flashlights they used to have back then
sure yep yeah like you get more light sticking your finger in your eye than he could
those things but well anyway so I saddle up my horse now my horse is uh 17 hands tall so that
makes him roughly um just a little over five foot at the withers so I'm got the horse
saddled up I ride out in the pasture I got this
life and I go to the go across the first pasture come to the second gate and he stopped.
He didn't want to go through the gate. So, you know, you always, you always listen to your horse
because, you know, they smell it or hear it before you do. But I went ahead and made him go
through the gate and I was hollering for the other horses to come up and they weren't coming.
So I'm headed down this hill and I could hear some.
My horse stopped again and he's looking forward and I could hear something at the bottom
of the hill.
Now at the bottom of the hill is what we'd call a dead pit.
So if anything that dies on the ranch, it goes down there in that pit.
And so the previous owners, they had a horse that had died.
It had been down there.
And so I pushed my horse forward a little bit more, made him go down that way.
And I could hear something down in this bottom.
And I got the flashlight on, and I can't see a thing.
And I keep going, and I made him go that way.
He wanted to turn to the left, and I wouldn't let him.
I made him go straight south to where the noise is coming from,
because I thought it was the horses down there around by that pit.
So I'm hollering for them.
And I finally got close enough where I could see something.
And I could tell it was hairy or had hair on it.
So I hollered again.
I started naming off horses.
I had 74 of them out there.
So I'm naming off horses.
And my horse is just, he's locked up.
He's froze.
He's ears forward, head forward,
just looking and he starts doing that heavy breathing the horses do he didn't snort or nothing yet but
he's just like he's on red alert and so i just sitting there i got that latch on there and i can see it
moving and then i i seen it turn and it stood up stood it stood directly up now i'm on an incline
so from where I was at to the bottom of that hill
if you just run a straight line
from my chest straight out
and then go down to the bottom
that had been roughly around 10 to 12 foot
and I'm on a 16 and a half
or a 17 hand horse
and it stood up
and it was eye level with me
on the back of that horse
and it was probably about
20 yards from me and as I'm holding that light you could see it it turned
and it looked right at me and the light shining on its eyes was red which is
fairly normal for predators and it's the space between its eyes was 10 to 12
inches wide and it's just looking at me and it made this
grunt puff I've never heard it before and it went back down and then it took off well it
turned around and I took it took off and I heard it running through the brush and go up into the
woods and I turned my horses let my horse have his head and let him take off and we took off at a
dead run across that pasture down over across the pond dam and to the other side and all
horses were down in the corner and scared when I got when I got down there they
was happy to see me and we all went flying up to the barn I went out the next day
and I've told part of this story but this is the part that I didn't tell anybody
I went back down there next day on foot with rifle in hand and I found human
footprints down there about 11 to 12 inches long and that's pretty much it never
seen or heard anything ever again.
And I just kind of kept a mouth shut about it.
Sir, that is absolutely incredible.
Man, back in 1987.
Wow.
Yeah.
So a few questions for you.
I'm going to think through real quick.
So you took your flashlight and you,
you shined it up in its face,
saw the red eyes.
Were you able to see any details about the face itself
besides the eyes?
Nope, none at all.
Okay.
me. Okay. My first initial thought, because I was originally from Michigan, my first initial
thought was it was a bear, but they didn't have any bears there, but that's initially
what I thought. But when it turned its head, I didn't see a snout. But that's literally all I can
tell you is I remember seeing hair because like my initial thought was, because when I first
seen the movement, I thought it was a horse. So I hollered, so we inched up a little bit more.
And the horse locks up. And so I could see the hair.
was longer. That's about all I could tell when it stood up and looked, that's all I could see was
the red eyes and, you know, about 10, 12 inches space in between. And when it turned, it said, I didn't
see no snout, didn't see no teeth. That's, I can, I remember the hair was, it looked to me like
it was a kind of brownish black color, but that was hard to tell. That's the best that I can
remember absolutely when you're there the state is Missouri guys it's just south of
Bethany when you were there were you smelling anything else besides the smell of the
horse you were on yeah I did I smelled dead but I you know kind of kind of a dead
smell but I just figured that was the pit oh that's true because you were right on the
dead pit so yeah exactly that's a good point yeah
When before this time or after, did you ever, did you guys ever experience anything weird happening to the horses, like to, or we'll just leave it at that.
Did anything weird ever happen to the horses?
Nothing ever happened to the horses other than sometimes they would be crowded up by the barn or like that day they were over in the far corner, which there's a routine.
that we followed and that was that was the first time they didn't follow that routine and so that
kind of alarmed me a little bit i mean always kept a couple horses up in the barn just in case
they had to go down and get them but they always came up but that night they didn't i found them
down in the far corner wow that's wild did uh did anyone else in the area ever
uh have sightings as well or is this the only one you've heard of in this area that that's all
I heard of. I told some friends of mine, I left the leaving the, going out the next day and
seeing the footprints because I told some of my friends about it, two or three of them,
and they kind of laughed it off and thought I was half crazy, so I just kind of kept my shut,
because I was a new kid on the block, so I didn't want anybody. I think I was a idiot.
Yeah, I got you. Yeah. No, it doesn't matter. I get it. Right. Yeah. It totally doesn't.
How did this affect the rest of your life?
Well, I never believed in it, really, until that point.
But I have another story that happened in Colorado that's got to do with Bigfoot.
And I got to see that.
I got to see that over an actual Bigfoot.
But that's as far as the Missouri goes, that's it.
and I've seen one in Kansas too.
So I've seen one in Missouri, one in Kansas, and one in Colorado.
Wow.
I mean, if you're, we'd love to hear any other encounters you've had it.
If you feel up for sharing, I'm totally up to you, though.
Yeah, do you guys want to hear here?
I'll tell them.
Absolutely.
Absolutely.
So the one in Kansas,
I'm trying to remember when that was.
I think that was like the mid-2000s.
I don't remember the exact year.
I'm trying to think here.
I think it had been in 2009, 2009 or 0-10.
Anyway, so me and my wife, ex-wife now,
we were staying up at a friend's house in a cabin that he had,
up by Perry Lake.
And his son, my buddy's son, I was breaking one of the horses to ride.
And so he's out back working it.
And wife was out there, kiddo was out there.
And so I got done working on the fence.
