Bigfoot Society - The Creature That Hunted Our Camp! | New Hampshire

Episode Date: August 21, 2025

What happens when a seasoned New Hampshire hunter wakes in the dead of night to something pacing the ridge above his tent — something on two feet, breathing deep, and watching every move? In this ch...illing episode, we sit down with Kevin, a lifelong outdoorsman from the far north of the Granite State, who recounts a Memorial Day weekend camping trip that turned into an hours-long standoff with a creature he couldn’t identify. From the first crunch of moss under heavy footsteps to the guttural grunt outside his tent flap, Kevin’s story takes us into one of the most remote and unforgiving parts of New England — a place of moose, loggers, and whispered legends of “Wood Devils.” You’ll hear about strange pacing on the ridge, the eerie return of the stalker, and the one track that didn’t match any known animal.Could it have been a bear? A person? Or something older, stranger, and far more dangerous? More than just a campfire story, this account will make you think twice before sleeping under the pines in New Hampshire’s North Country.🗣️ Share Your StoryHad a Bigfoot encounter or strange experience?Send it to bigfootsociety@gmail.com – your story might be featured on the show!🎥 Watch & Subscribe on YouTube🔴 Subscribe here → Bigfoot Society YouTube💬 Leave a comment & let us know your thoughts!📞 Leave a voicemail with your story → Speakpipe (Use multiple voicemails if needed)👥 Share this episode → Watch & Share🎧 More episodes → Podcast Playlist🌲 Recommended: New Jersey Bigfoot Encounters💥 Support the Show & Get Perks✅ Join the community on Patreon – Become a Member✅ Listen ad-free & early on YouTube – Join Here📱 Let’s ConnectInstagram: @bigfootsocietyTwitter: @bigfoot_societyTikTok: @bigfoot.society🧰 Tools & Partners I Use (Affiliate Links)These help support the show at no extra cost to you:Beam (Better Sleep): Try BeamWildgrain (Better Bread): Join HereSeed (Probiotics): Get SeedMedi-Share (Healthcare): Learn MoreLMNT (Electrolytes) Free Sample Pack with your first purchase! : Get LMNTOrganic and non-GMO groceries delivered for lesshttp://thrv.me/uarEhS🎙️ Podcasting Tools:Repurpose.io: Try ItDescript: Sign UpStreamyard: Start RecordingRiverside.fm: Try Riverside🎧 My Audio Interface: View on Amazon☕ Buy Me a Coffee – Support Here🛍️ Grab Some Merch – Shop on Etsy📬 Mailing Address:Bigfoot Society125 E 1st St. #233Earlham, IA 50072📧 Business Inquiries:bigfootsociety@gmail.com

Starting point is 00:01:22 where moose roam, the nights run black. the locals still whisper about something they call the wood devil. We're talking to Hunter named Kevin tonight who's been in the woods his entire life but on Memorial Day weekend in a remote campsite
Starting point is 00:01:38 near the Canadian border something happened to Kevin that you'll hear about tonight that changed him for the rest of his life so stay with us. All right, Bigfoot Society. You've got the privilege of talking to Kevin today. Kevin listens to the podcast
Starting point is 00:01:54 I believe over on the Spotify platform so that's how he got connected he's a hunter and an outdoorsman from uh new hampshire and welcome to the show how's it going kevin it's going good how are you doing awesome i am always super excited to talk to someone from new england and uh especially from new hampshire grew up about 500 feet from new hampshire in uh massachusetts so oh wow definitely went up to uh went up to New Hampshire quite a bit. It's a beautiful,
Starting point is 00:02:26 beautiful state. Always fun to talk to individuals from out there. But, you know, Kevin, I know we've got some interesting things
Starting point is 00:02:33 to go over today. So I want to make sure that you have the time to share what you experienced. You're welcome to take us back to when this, when this happens to you
Starting point is 00:02:45 and we'll be right there with you. All right. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, I'm a hunter from New Hampshire,
Starting point is 00:02:53 born and raised. And, you know, I go up basically near the Canadian border to hunt and fish, and I've been doing it my whole life. And in the summertime, you know, it's like me and my wife. And every now and then our in-laws will come up too. But it's like we go up there and we'll camp out fish. You know, there's tons of trail fishing and stuff. But, yeah, so it's just like any other year. I mean, I've been going up there my whole life, you know.
Starting point is 00:03:18 It's like avid outdoorsmen. I mean, I've been, can't express it enough, man. It's like nothing. I mean, I've been within 10 feet of a bull moose. I mean, there's just nothing. I'm good in the woods, you know. I mean, I'll go into the White Mountains with a compass and I'll come out by my truck. It's like I'm a very seasoned person, so I just want people to really understand.
Starting point is 00:03:43 Like, this isn't like, I'm not some, you know, hippie out in the woods. It's like I've been in the woods my whole life, you know. I know everything in the woods. And so we go up to camp or whatever, and it's like third night in, I think. This was also, by the way, three years ago now, I want to say. But, yeah, it was Memorial Weekend. So it was like, you know, the beginning of the summer timeframe.
Starting point is 00:04:13 So it must have been right in the beginning. Yeah, right in the beginning of summer, basically. And it's like we go, up like every other camping trip I've ever been on, you know, and it's like basically what happened was third night in, we, you know, everyone's in bed. It was me, my wife, and my mother-in-law and my father-in-law, and they were in their tent, we're in our tent, you know, and it's like we woke up, me and my wife at the same time to, we had to go to the bathroom or whatever, so we go out, we go to the bathroom and come back and mind you too we're like camping in a very remote area too this isn't like you know
Starting point is 00:04:53 right off the side of the highway it's like we're out kind of off the beaten path a little bit but it's like people do it people camp there's so many logging roads and you know it's like there's there's all these places you can go but anyways it's like go back to bed and lay down she falls right to sleep i'm just kind of laying there and right as i'm drifting off it's like I could hear something in the woods, you know. It's like I couldn't really figure out what it was, but it's like, I mean, I've had bears in my camp before. I mean, nothing freaks me out, man.
Starting point is 00:05:30 It's like I can handle life just about anything. It's like, but, you know, so I'm listening. I'm like, all right, it's probably, who knows, it could be a bear, whatever. And there's this noise. It just sounded like movement, you know what I mean? Like, just like muffled, you know, sticks and stuff breaking stuff you know something moving through the woods and it's like
Starting point is 00:05:50 clearly it's an animal so i'm kind of listening to it or whatever and it starts getting a little closer a little closer and it's like i don't know how far off it was like at that point but i'm just kind of laying i mean this is like two o'clock in the morning probably and um yeah it's just like this thing just starts coming from the woods and it's like it's getting close closer and closer. So I'm kind of like, oh, man, like, you know, maybe it's a bear, you know, that's not good because I had left out some kibble or whatever from my dog. Like, we had our pit bull with us, too, and he was sound asleep. But mind you, this whole, throughout this whole thing, I want people to keep this in mind, too, which is, it's just weird. Like, my dog was sound asleep
Starting point is 00:06:36 the whole time. I mean, I don't know if it was just random or what, but like, I mean, yeah, it's just just a weird thing. So, Anyways, it's like, it's getting closer and closer, and I'm like, all right, so the bear's going to come down. He's going to do his thing. He's going to keep going. So, like, I had bear in my mind. You know what I mean? Like, I didn't really know what was going to happen at that point, but it's just like, whatever.
Starting point is 00:06:59 And it gets closer. And then I realize it's like, that sounds like it's on two feet. It sounds like a person walking. You know what I mean? I mean, like I said, I mean, I've been in the woods. Yeah, I couldn't tell you even down in southern New Hampshire, some places. where I hunt. It's like there's a lot of hunters and stuff. And like, you know what someone sounds like.
Starting point is 00:07:19 Like when you see the hunter coming through the woods when you're in your stand or whatever. And it's like, this was two feet. Like, I don't know how else to say it. Like, it was two feet. I mean, there's two bipedal, you know, sounding legs or whatever moving. It was not for hooves or paws. Like it was too very distinct. You know, it sounded like someone walking.
Starting point is 00:07:44 But it sounded like. It wasn't like a T-Rex coming in or something, but it sounded like a big person just kind of trudging through the woods. It was bizarre, you know, it's like where we were from the direction where this was coming from, there is nothing. I mean, and for someone, I mean, we don't even have to say it. Everyone knows what's going to happen to you if you're going to walk up on someone in the middle of the night in the middle of nowhere. I mean, you're going to get shot at or whatever, right? So it's like, I was kind of just. kind of what this is just weird you know like what is and i just like i kept trying to think it was
Starting point is 00:08:21 a bear but then i'd hear it move and it was like that's not a bear i mean it's just wasn't nothing was really making sense to me so i'm like kind of getting a little nervous because it's like i don't you know i know how to handle a bear i don't know how to hand i mean if this is some sort of human coming or a person coming down like you know what the what i mean it's two o'clock in the morning so it's like they're not coming down for a good reason probably and if they are you know they would have they would have hollered out or or something at the very least if they were in some sort of danger or something like that you know what I mean just the way this movement was coming it was like it sounded like an
Starting point is 00:09:01 animal and it was attracted to the food and that's kind of what my mind was thinking and it's like you know but it's I don't know what to do at this point because it there was like a little ridge above us like 30 feet or something like that not not super high high, but it was a steep embankment, like, out behind where our tents were. So, like, if you guys can, like, if you're listening to this and you can picture it, it's like, picture a flat, there's a creek or a river in front of you. It wasn't a super big river, but there was, like, a little creek or whatever. And then behind the tents, there was, like, a steeper rocky embankment, like a and then it went up to, like, this ridge where it kind of plateaued a little bit. But it's, like,
Starting point is 00:09:42 this thing walked. And I don't even know how much. much time this took at this point. I want to say I had been listening to it for at least five to ten minutes. I mean, it was quite some time before I realized it's on two feet. And yeah, and so it came and it stops up at the top of the where I knew it was up like basically kind of looking down into our camp almost, you know, like because where I last heard it stop, I'm kind of picture and like, all right, that thing, whatever it is, it's like right above us. So, and I didn't really know what to do either because it's like if it's a bear i don't want to you know surprise it or whatever you know i kind of just want to let it come in and do its thing and and then go from there if
Starting point is 00:10:22 whatever happens happens but um so i just stayed in the tent but i was kind of getting like i said the nervousness was starting to peak a little bit and again i don't know why i mean i've had bears outside of my tent and um i've never felt like this like i had this this there was just something in my gut that wasn't sitting right so it's like all of a sudden it's like i hear it coming down so it's like oh it's going to come into camp now so it comes down i hear it you know move maneuvering kind of down the rocks and down this little spot you know and it's like it makes its way and i can't it's still walking on two feet this whole time it's like the most bizarre thing so then now it stops and it's like right outside of my tent and i'm just like frozen you know i'm not moving i'm
Starting point is 00:11:12 I'm not trying not to do anything. So I'm like, I don't know what this is. And if it's a person, like, I don't, I don't know what they're going to try and do. So I'm just kind of waiting, but I'm honestly, like, getting a little petrified. I'm like, I don't know how to handle this, you know. It's like, I know how to handle everything else. I don't know how to handle something I don't know. And if it's like, you know, if it's a person, do they have a gun?
Starting point is 00:11:35 Are they injured? Why didn't they holler into the camp to let them, let us know they're coming in? It's like so many things, you know. Yeah, and so at this point, I'm just kind of laying there, like, totally freaked out, and it kind of makes this vocalization. And the best way I can describe it, it was like a grunty, a grumpy voice kind of deal, but it wasn't speaking. It wasn't a, there was no words or anything like that. It was just kind of like this weird grunt, which, you know, I tried to do it for, Wes when I talked to him about it, but it's like, it doesn't sound anything like it.
Starting point is 00:12:17 You know what I mean? It's just, I don't know how to impersonate it. And I haven't really heard anything that sounds like it. I've listened to just about everything. And the closest thing would be that chatter or whatever, but it's like, even that, it doesn't, it did not sound like that either. But that's probably the closest thing I could relate it to that I've heard, you know. But anyways, so it does that sound. And now I'm really like. what, you know, what in the world? And then it just kind of turns like 90. This is kind of what I'm picturing based on the sound,
Starting point is 00:12:51 because I'm keened into what I'm hearing at this point. I can't see, you know, I'm in my tent freaked out. So it's like, what do you do, you know? So it turns and then it just starts walking. Like it's going down because there were some other people camp, I don't even know, probably 400 yards away. They were down the road a little ways, just off on a little, you know, side old trail where they must have had a landing for some logs or whatever.
Starting point is 00:13:17 They just kind of set up shop down there. And it just turns 90 and it's like headed towards them. So I'm like, whatever this is is leaving. I'm going to wait. So I kind of sit up. I'm like, it's get. And I can tell it's getting farther away. And I'm like, F this.
Starting point is 00:13:33 I'm getting out of the tent. You know, I'm going to find weapons. And I'm getting a fire lit. Like I'm not messing around, you know. So it's like I found a. hatch it on the table. I just grabbed that. Like that was the first, because I come right out of that tent. As soon as I knew the coast was clear, it's like, I don't know what's going on. I come out of that thing. I grabbed the hatchet. It's like, I don't know who's around. I don't know
Starting point is 00:13:53 if I didn't hear someone else. Who knows what's going on? But I was pretty freaked out. And it's like, I don't know what I'm dealing with. So I get my headlamp and, you know, and I'm like, shining and I'm like, this is, this is crazy, you know? So then, then I hear it coming back. and it's like I had kind of scrambled like in this whole in the chaos of all this like what you know I had lit a fire gotten a fire going and I was just building it up but I was also kind of looking because I had my headlamp on at this point I'm trying to see and I can hear it and it walks back but it like you know picture um picture like the you know how like pine pine brows will come down and they like swoop down and there's like
Starting point is 00:14:37 pockets and like you there's little dark spots in them you know i'm just like scanning like every single pocket in the darkness of the trees that i could see and i don't see anything because i heard when it came back it stopped like it was right there but i couldn't see anything you know what i mean it's like i'm just waiting to see like the face of a weird looking bear you know like this is weird and it was it was super freaky too mind you the whole time i'm pretty freaked out i mean it was pretty weird. It was like, what is going on? What am I dealing with? This is very abnormal for a human to do, you know, it's like, this is a person. They're crazy. But, so I'm shining, and it's like, I don't see anything. And then all of a sudden it moves and it goes up,
Starting point is 00:15:25 back up to the top of that ridge. And the whole time I'm trying to, I can't see anything. I'm scanning. And it's like, what in the world? And then it just starts kind of going back and forth up on the top, like maybe 40 yards back and forth. Like, I don't even know how many times. Maybe five or six times it did that, just kind of pacing back and forth. It wasn't running. It wasn't, whatever it was. It wasn't breaking anything.
Starting point is 00:15:50 It wasn't running. It wasn't making any vocalizations. It was just pacing up there. Like, I mean, that's all I can describe it as. It was weird. And, you know, and then it was kind of, I kind of got like a little bit of a, all of a sudden I kind of just got super super mad like I became so mad that if I had had a gun in my hand
Starting point is 00:16:14 I would have just let it rip into the woods like and I'm really ethical I don't shoot what I don't know but it was like it got past the point of me caring about that anymore and it was more like this is this is weird you know like this is not good and it's like I mean it is it was just very very bizarre I didn't know what I and I knew it wasn't a bear at this point. You know, it's like it's not a moose. It's not a bear.
Starting point is 00:16:40 I mean, I don't know what, you know, it's not a human at that point. I'm like, this is not, this can't be a person. I don't know what this is. I don't know if I'm dealing with something supernatural. I don't know if I'm dealing with this, the supposed wood devil that is up there or what, but it's like, I have no clue. Like, and it was very freaky, you know. And then all of a sudden, it was like, it just like everything kind of went quiet.
Starting point is 00:17:05 gotten, um, I went over to my father-in-law's tent and I'm like, Larry, you've got to get up. There's a bear out here, you know, like, I'm not going to tell them like, and at that point, I'm not even thinking bigfoot. I'm just like, what, no, what, you know, what am I dealing with? You know what I mean? And it was like, that was the only thing I could come up with that, like, I could tell him, you know, and, uh, and it just was quiet after that, you know, he went, he ended up like, he was like, oh, it must have moved on, you know, like he kind of stayed up for a few, but it was like he was he went back to bed and then i mean i just kind of stayed up all night you know listening i didn't hear anything it was just very weird and i mean you know the the what
Starting point is 00:17:46 got me to this point is it's like from from what happened onward for the first two months right it's like i don't know what i'm dealing with was that because i'd heard stories of of stuff and i know people that have had you know seen footprints and there's there's there's There's some weird stuff that goes on, you know what I mean? But I just physically, I didn't see anything, and I can't tell you what it was. You know, I have no clue, but it was very bizarre. And it was like, all right, I got to figure out. So I start researching and I'm researching and researching and researching.
Starting point is 00:18:22 And it's like, holy smokes. And then I come across, you know, the podcast and stuff. So I start hearing people's podcasts. And like what made me reach out to you was there was a guy that you had on. who was hunting Bear Brook or whatever. And it's like people were talking about a sighting right over 10 minutes down the road for me in Nottingham and this and that. It's like I got to kind of talk to this guy because, you know, one, it's therapeutic in a way. And two, it's like I haven't talked to anyone other than Wes about it since, since, you know.
Starting point is 00:18:52 I mean, my wife, I talk, she don't really talk about it with me. I mean, she's whatever with the whole thing. But it's like, we don't know. She never woke up either through this whole thing. She was down to sleep. It's like, the whole thing was just bizarre, you know what I mean? But yeah, so I keep research in, and about a month goes by, I'd emailed the, there's like a whole museum apparently in Maine over here where there's like Bigfoot research and crypto stuff going on.
Starting point is 00:19:22 It's like, I had no idea there was that going on around here either. So I'd emailed them, no one's getting back to me. It's like, you know, I'm kind of ready to just kind of give up on trying to figure out what happened. And I found there was this lady, your name's Michelle Sule, Sulear, apologies if I say it wrong. But she gave me permission to, you know, talk to Wes, and she's very open with my story. And I think she might even include it in one of her books. But anyways, I reached out to her. And I'm like, listen, this is kind of what happened to me.
Starting point is 00:19:53 You know, I explained the whole thing. And she was like, show me where you are. So we were up and way up northern New Hampshire. And I sent her a pin from my own. You know, sent it over to her. And she sends me back a map. And it's like right there. I'm writing a string of sightings, like 10, 15 sightings from.
Starting point is 00:20:12 So she does Maine, but it's like there's a bunch of sightings from in New Hampshire right where I was, which I learned after the fact. It was like very surprising. You know, I had no clue. And then she had told me that like there was, I can't remember the exact amount of accounts that she had said, but she had literally, like she said that it kind of, was bizarre to her because like two or three other people, separate people that had no relation or anything over in Maine, like 10 miles from there, had had a very similar thing happened to them
Starting point is 00:20:46 with something they did not see, but it was the same type of deal. You know, it was, so that for me, it was kind of like, all right, this is, this is really weird. She kind of thinks this is a big foot thing going on. I'm like, I don't know if it's, I didn't know what I was dealing with. At that point, At the end of it, I knew it was either a couple of things. It had to have been supernatural, one of these bigfoot or wood devils, or it was a person. I mean, I don't know what else it could have been, you know. So that's basically my story, you know. I mean, I never saw it, but it was enough for me to be very spooked.
Starting point is 00:21:21 And, you know, I just, none of it settled right with me after. You know what I mean? It was like, I got to really figure this out, and I still haven't figured it out. So, you know, that's kind of where we're at with it, you know. It's a really interesting account. Thank you for sharing. The northern part of New Hampshire, it is. It's wild.
Starting point is 00:21:43 The northern part of New Hampshire, you know, you don't mess around up there. I mean, I grew up in New England, as I said before, and we used to go up there for vacation, too. So listeners need to understand how wild it is up there. Like, we used to go up to Pittsburgh. I don't think people do, you know. Yeah, and I mean, you drive around dogs. It's prime evil. It's prime evil. And there are, I mean, you would see, we would see like 12, 13 moose in one night is crazy.
Starting point is 00:22:11 Oh, yeah. I mean, oh yeah. And it's like, I mean, I hunt up there. I still hunt up there. I mean, since this all happened, it's kind of like I kind of look around a little more. But like, again, I mean, I'm not going to really full on believe it until I see it type of deal. You know what I mean? But it was enough for me to kind of be like, all right, this could be something. And, you know, it was bizarre, and it was spooky, you know, it was just very, I mean, I don't know. I track deer out in the White Mountains. I track up there in that area that we're talking, you know, like I track deer. This is what I'm talking about in the snow, you know, during hunting season.
Starting point is 00:22:46 And it's like I've never seen footprints, you know, I've never seen anything like that. But it's like, and I've never had anything bizarre happen to me either, other than this one thing. It's just the weirdest thing, you know. Gotcha. Gotcha, gotcha. You were saying you've listened to many different things. Were you alluding to the Sierra sounds from Ron Moorhead? Yeah, I've listened to those.
Starting point is 00:23:11 I've listened to all the vocalizations. I mean, once it happened, I mean, because I obviously, everyone knows about Bigfoot. Everyone knows about, oh, it could be out there or whatever, and to each his own with it, you know, and it's like, for me, it was always whatever. you know if I see one I see one you know but um it's just like so I start looking up all these sounds and stuff and like nothing sounded like it other than that that recording in it but it wasn't that you know what I mean it was not that either it was very weird and never heard anything like it again in my life I mean it's it was very it was so deep and guttural that it was like um like people
Starting point is 00:23:55 talk about the base from the things going through it. their chest. Like it wasn't, it wasn't like that, you know, but it was, it was deep enough where it was like, I don't know if that's a bear, you know, like, that's very weird, you know. Absolutely. The next day afterwards, did you look around the campsite at all, notice anything weird out of place, potential evidence? I never noticed anything out of place.
Starting point is 00:24:22 Nothing out of place. I did look around. I went up to the top where I heard it coming in and leave and pace around and it was like super mossy um like floor but it was also it just it held tracks but it didn't really hold tracks and it was like i found one spot where to me it looked like a heel had kind of crushed through a like 10 inch diameter dead log on the ground that was like you know wet from rot but it was like it looked like because there was no definitive toes or anything, but it was like you could tell something and it wasn't a hoof, you know, it wasn't a moose. It was like, this is, this looked like a heel, you know. It was very weird and it was not a bear. I mean, I know what a bear track looks like, you know, it's like,
Starting point is 00:25:15 this was not a bear. It was a very big, like, almost heel-like impression. And like, I showed my wife and she's like, really, like, I don't know. She's like, it is weird looking. And I'm like, I know. I mean, I don't know what to make of it. It's like, there were no, other footprints or I couldn't find anything like freshly broken or you know I did my best to try and scout it out a little bit it's like I couldn't figure it out it's like the whole thing was so weird you know as someone that is in the woods I mean I'm in the woods all that I mean archery seasons in like a month you know and I'm hiking out sometimes like two miles in the dark like I'm not I'm not worried you know but it was just like I don't know I don't know what to make of it it's like I should be
Starting point is 00:25:57 able to figure this out and I can't, you know? It's like. Absolutely. I don't know. The area that you were in, was it a thing where there were any equivalence of rangers or forestry workers that you talked to about what had happened that night? So I never talked to anyone forestry related or anything like that other than a few close friends of mine and my wife are the only people I talk to, you know, and it was like not going to,
Starting point is 00:26:32 there's certain, yeah, the hunting community up here is pretty tight, you know what I mean? It's like, I don't know, you're not going to get any information out of many people, and it's is. I mean, no one's going to really, I can guarantee you probably half of the season guides up here in Maine and New Hampshire have probably had some sort of weird thing happened, but they're never going to tell you, you know. Oh, absolutely. It's like, who do I talk to? You know, it's like, Who do I talk to, you know? So it's just kind of, put it in the back dormer. And then I'm like listening in on one day,
Starting point is 00:27:03 I just happened to click your show. And it was that guy from Bear Brook there. And it's like, I know right where he's talking about with all this stuff, you know what I mean? I've hunted in there too. And I haven't had anything weird happen. But it's like I could see how people would probably think that there's something in there. It's definitely a old growth forest, you know.
Starting point is 00:27:23 And it's like it's same up north. It's very primeval. So there's plenty of space to hide if something is there. But it's like, again, I don't, I didn't see anything, you know. Oh, absolutely. The Bear Brook episode really, uh, hit a chord with a lot of people. I constantly have people reaching out. I actually have a gentleman I'll be talking to in about two weeks about an instance he had happened in the same area.
Starting point is 00:27:52 So, uh, it's, it's very weird, you know, being so close to the city. But as you said, you know, it's wild. But you had mentioned a few times wood devils. Yes. Which is an interesting thing in the northern part in New Hampshire. Do you have any information that you've heard about that phenomenon out there? Basically, I mean, yeah, I mean, basically it's like, you know, some of the vloggers have reported it. And it's like, that's what they just called them, you know, even from like way back in the day, apparently, like the people, because there's a lot of logging going on up there, even today.
Starting point is 00:28:33 And back then they were logging too. And it's like, I think that's just what they were calling them because they didn't know what else to call it. You know what I mean? So, but apparently it's like a tall, thin, gray colored being like a, like a Sasquatch type of deal. and that's all I really know about it. I know there, like, people say, oh, they'll, they'll scream and stuff like that, but I've never, like I said, I've hunted up there my whole life and I haven't heard any weird stuff, you know, but it's like stuff gets reported, you know, and it's, who knows, right?
Starting point is 00:29:12 It's like, it's bizarre. It is a different world up there. It's beautiful. And everyone's tight-lipped, too. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, yeah. Yeah, when you hear this stereotypes of, you know, how New Englanders don't really talk about much, I mean, that you got it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:31 And I say that as a person who, you know, grew up in the region. But, yeah. So that's why I really appreciate, you know, a person like yourself coming on a show from New England. But, yeah, it's definitely, I don't know, people kind of do their own. thing up here, you know, and it's still kind of, it's really old school, you know what I mean? It's just different. I mean, and other than that on the Wood Devil thing, it's like I know one of one other hunter that hunts in the White Mountains, which is probably, you know, 50 miles south of where
Starting point is 00:30:10 I had my thing happen, but, I mean, everyone knows probably of Mount Washington and the White Mountains, you know, it's a pretty big range. It's like very vast. and this guy was out hunting in November and, you know, five, six miles in, there's snow and there's just a 15-inch-long human-like track down in the side of a creek there. And it's like, who's going to be out there and bare feet? No one. You're going to die, you know?
Starting point is 00:30:39 Like people come up here and die all the time that are hiking and stuff, and I hate to say it, but it's like they're never prepared. No one understands. I mean, people think that they can just come up here. and it's like all good. And it's like, no, you have to have GPS and compasses and you have to be prepared. I mean, even when I go hunting, I mean, the places I hunt, you get turned around. You could die.
Starting point is 00:31:01 You know, it's, it's, I don't know how else to say it, you know. People get lost and go missing. And it's like, who knows what it is? It could be that or it could be other things at play. Who knows? But, I mean, it's like me personally, I've never had a thing. I've never saw it. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:31:17 but just from talking to people and hearing about all these things, it's like, I had to talk to you because it's kind of, like I said, it's a little therapeutic, so I don't talk to anyone about it. And, you know,
Starting point is 00:31:28 what do you do with it? When something happens, you just kind of throw it in the back burner, you know. Absolutely. And I appreciate you sharing your story again. Would you ever want to have something like this happen, potentially have a sighting,
Starting point is 00:31:45 or have you ever thought? I'm, I don't want what happened that night to happen again because it wasn't enjoyable. It wasn't a very, it wasn't a pleasant experience. I mean, it was pretty, pretty scary, you know, and, you know, as far as seeing one, if I saw one, good. I know they're there. Great. Whatever, you know, it doesn't really bother me either way. I'm not out looking for them.
Starting point is 00:32:12 I'm still hunting, you know, I mean, it's not going to, it's not ruining any of my hunting or anything. but it's like, you know, you kind of look around a little differently once something weird happens like that. And it's like, especially when I'm up north, you know, I'm kind of looking like, that'd be something if I saw one of those, you know. But I guess time will tell. Absolutely. Well, Kevin, I appreciate you taking some time out of your day and sharing what happened up there in northern New Hampshire. Hopefully this episode reaches some of the people out there. and if you are listening.
