Bigfoot Society - Veteran Comes Face-To-Face With Giant Sasquatch In Utah’s Ogden Canyon Mountains
Episode Date: January 2, 2026In this episode, an Army veteran and lifelong Bigfoot researcher shares chilling first-hand encounters with massive Sasquatch in Northern Utah’s Ogden Canyon and Monte Cristo Range. What began as a ...late-night drive through the Wasatch Mountains turned into a terrifying face-to-face encounter with an eight-foot-tall humanoid figure, complete with eye shine, a human-like scowl, and overwhelming presence.Years later, during a winter trip above Pineview Reservoir, the witness experiences a second encounter—this time involving two Sasquatch, including what appeared to be an older and younger individual displaying protective behavior. He describes strange vocalizations, cloaking or camouflage-like movement, enormous tracks in the snow, and a tense standoff that ended without violence.🗣️ Share Your StoryHad a Bigfoot encounter or strange experience?Send it to bigfootsociety@gmail.com – your story might be featured on the show!🎥 Watch & Subscribe on YouTube🔴 Subscribe here → Bigfoot Society YouTube💬 Leave a comment & let us know your thoughts!📞 Leave a voicemail with your story → Speakpipe (Use multiple voicemails if needed)👥 Share this episode → Watch & Share🎧 More episodes → Podcast Playlist🌲 Recommended: New Jersey Bigfoot Encounters💥 Support the Show & Get Perks✅ Join the community on Supercast – Become a Member✅ Listen ad-free & early on YouTube – Join Here📱 Let’s ConnectInstagram: @bigfootsocietyTwitter: @bigfoot_societyTikTok: @bigfoot.society🧰 Tools & Partners I Use (Affiliate Links)These help support the show at no extra cost to you:Beam (Better Sleep): Try BeamWildgrain (Better Bread): Join HereSeed (Probiotics): Get SeedMedi-Share (Healthcare): Learn MoreLMNT (Electrolytes) Free Sample Pack with your first purchase! : Get LMNTOrganic and non-GMO groceries delivered for lesshttp://thrv.me/uarEhS🎙️ Podcasting Tools:Repurpose.io: Try ItDescript: Sign UpStreamyard: Start RecordingRiverside.fm: Try Riverside🎧 My Audio Interface: View on Amazon☕ Buy Me a Coffee – Support Here🛍️ Grab Some Merch – Shop on Etsy📬 Mailing Address:Bigfoot Society125 E 1st St. #233Earlham, IA 50072

You're listening to Bigfoot Society and I'm Jeremiah Byron.
In this show, we go beyond the campfire stories to bring you first-hand encounters from people who say they've seen something impossible.
From backwoods trails and remote mountain haulers to quiet farms and crowded highways, the stories come from everywhere.
And each one leaves us with more questions than answers.
These are the voices of the people who've lived it.
So settle in because today you'll hear another account that just might change the way you see the woods for.
ever. So stay with us. All right, Bigfoot Society. Welcome back to another episode. We've got
Mr. Matt Anderson on the show today. We got connected about a situation that Matt ran into
out there in northern Utah. Welcome to the show. Matt, how are you doing today?
Thanks for having me. I'm doing great yourself. Absolutely. It's actually not too cold out here in Iowa today.
So we're digging that. A few things about Matt that listeners will want to know. He is
is a army veteran. Thank you for your service, definitely with that, Matt. And also,
we were talking a little bit before the show how he would categorize himself. And he's been
into the Bigfoot for about a year. And he's kind of at the point where enthusiast turned
researcher and there is that turning point. So he's getting out there. You're actually getting
out there quite a bit. And we'll probably talk about that later. But anything else that the
listeners would need to know about you, Matt, before we get started?
Well, so I've been doing the research on and off for about a year, but I've been been into the subject,
I don't know, since I was five, so probably close to 30 years, 35 years.
So ever since I could read, I've been picking up and reading Bigfoot books.
Oh, okay.
Was there a certain book that got you hooked onto it or a movie or anything like that?
Well, I think, honestly, if I was honest, I think it was my dad that got me turned on to it.
He had sort of an encounter.
He used to cut Christmas trees back in the day.
Him and my uncle did Christmas trees.
And he told me this story about that he, him and my uncle smelt something or heard something up in Billings, Montana.
And ever since then, I've been hooked.
And I found books in the libraries that talked about all the, you know, the Albert Osman's story and all those.
so I've been hooked since then
and I think just recently
I've been able to actually get out
and do more of a more actual
on the ground research and get into it more.
That's awesome.
Yes, you were into the classics
from an early age.
I mean, the Albert Osman story
is a definite classic.
Listeners, check that out if you haven't already.
But was there a thing that made you
do the switch over
to actually
starting to go out
into the woods and the mountains
to see if you could figure out anything yourself?
I honestly think it
was probably my wife
just kind of giving me the opportunity
to go out and do it with doing
my schedule used to be so packed
and everything that I never thought that I could actually
get out and do the things I wanted to do
and she just
she's helped me do
like reach out and get my goals
and you know ever since I was little
my mom, I had awards from school, you know, just, you know, Bigfoot Hunter and stuff like that.
And I just never thought it would be possible for me to actually get out and do the research.
And she's pushed me to my goals and has helped me and support me along the way.
So I think that's pretty much what has got me out there to do.
It's like, you know, like make them believe anything's possible.
Matt, I'm going to go ahead and pass the mic over to you and take us back to when,
this particular encounter happened to you that you had shared with me earlier?
All right. So there was two encounters that I had in there, and they're both within, I don't know, 10 miles of each other.
So the first one, I'm trying to remember the date exactly. I think it was a fall of 2004.
I was up with the girl that I was dating at the time. We were up just driving around in the backwoods of the mountains,
and so it got late and we're leaving, you know, and I had to,
trying to remember exactly that was it while we were leaving, but it was late.
We were heading out, and the road that was on, it switchedbacks,
like, I think you go up in almost 500 feet in elevation on these switchbacks.
And I hit the first switchback coming up, and at the time I had a 96 Bronco, you know,
and I had it straight pipe, thought I was cool and all that stuff in a loud truck.
So it's coming up, driving fairly nice, because she didn't,
didn't like it when I hot rotted it on dirt roads.
So I'm driving ice.
They hit this switch back and my headlights past something.
I've seen eye shine.
And, you know, always being into it, I was like, did I just think, did I see what I thought I've seen?
And so I stopped and threw it in reverse and she's like, well, you can we just keep going?
I was like, did you see it?
She said, yes, I seen it.
And I'm backing up trying to, I want to, and she starts almost crying at this point, wanting to leave.
and so I start going out and she's like hey can we go a little faster and I was like okay so I'm going
faster and by the time I got the point where it was fast enough for I was doing 60 to 65 miles an hour
and I told her I said nothing's going to catch us at this point because she's wanted to leave fast
it's like there's nothing in northern America that's catch us you know there's cheetahs ain't here
and we're not you know and so we get out and I think I talked to it to a couple people
And even to this day, I don't think we've really even, she's never talked about it.
Like, I've talked about it with some people and she kind of goes, yeah, you know, never really brings it up.
But that happened then.
I've gone back into the area and looked in the area.
And the creature, like, I'm pretty sure it was Bigfoot.
I don't really like call them creatures, you know, because we know what it is.
He was probably about eight foot tall.
like if if you know in that area uh all as i seen was his face and so it was a quick glance
because the head light just passing over his face and he was not very happy that i was there
uh what i can equate it to the his facial expression was uh the movie grand trino
with clean eastwood when he's mad scowling but they're on their lawn uh and like it just like he had
really i seen his face like his uh you can see
kind of how I got a beard, but his beard was higher, and you just seen his eyes, and he had more of a round head, not a conical head, which threw me off, you know, because you hear these stories about the conical heads all the time.
And, like, trying to, because I didn't really want to say I blocked out of my mind, but it just never got brought up, even though that I was into the subject so much.
And that was 2004. And so, you know, I went through life. Me and,
So I married that girl.
We ended up getting divorced, but we're still friends now.
And so we kind of talk.
I try to talk to her about it every now and then,
but she just doesn't really like bring it up, so I leave it alone.
And then the next encounter I had was in 2020.
I had taken, everything was shut down,
and I was getting my son into Hunter's safety.
He was 12 at the time.
And the area that I was going,
so he could take him out and do his shooting,
because we had to take him.
I had to film it and do all these things with him.
The area I wanted to go to, they had a gate, so we took the side-by-side.
And there wasn't, we didn't have very much snow that year.
And so I was able to get up pretty far with the side-by-side and still be on the asphalt road.
And I took him into this spot, and we did our shooting.
He did all of his stuff he needed to do.
So I was like, all right, well, we're done.
Let's play around on the side-by-side.
So we're playing in the snow.
And I went to go down this road and nobody, there's no track.
So we were, you know, going to be the first.
people down there and I just felt like I shouldn't be going down there like it it's a main like it's a main
road not a main road but a dirt road in the summertime and there was probably about a foot of snow and
then like well we'll just turn around we're ahead home like I just felt off so we start heading down
back down the asphalt and we got power lines that run uh through the mountains and you know they
cross over the roads and everything and I and we're getting black bears back in our area and
And I'm passing this, I wouldn't even call it a meadow, but we're passing underneath the power lines of where it's cut out.
And the power lines have that furrow, furrow fare, if you will.
I look up to my right and I see something.
At first I think it was a black bear like standing up next to a tree.
So I was like, oh, that's neat.
And I didn't say anything to him.
But I start looking again.
I'm like, that wasn't a black bear.
So I had passed it.
I stopped, put it in reverse and backed up.
And as I'm backing up, I actually put it side by side in the ditch on accident,
trying to get back quick.
So I tell my kid, I say, hey, stay here.
He's like, okay.
And he's like, what are you doing?
I was like, just stay here, don't worry about it.
So I get out and I start walking up into the trees and I can see it.
And the way it was kind of like I described before as a reflective light,
but that doesn't make sense now that I'm thinking about it.
But you know, as you're driving down the freeway and I got those.
billboards or whatever.
As you're looking at it one way, it says something.
As you pass it another way, the angles change.
It's kind of looked like really, I want to say blocky, but like pixelated almost.
And as I stand behind this tree, it wasn't a very thick tree.
It was enough to kind of cover my midsection, but I could, like you did still see me on
the outside of it.
Polar out, like I stand around this tree and it's standing broadside to me about 50 yards away.
And, you know, I was like, uh, I kind of froze for a little bit and we're standing in
and staring at each other.
I'd say five, ten seconds.
And he let out a huff and all like, like, like, hmm.
Like he was standing his ground, like, you know, getting like tensing up.
And I pulled my sidearm out and drop back to my knee and, like, back behind the tree.
And we're just standing there looking at each other.
And a another one stepped out in front of him in a protective manner.
and it
I can't
you know I don't know for sure but I think it was the one
that I seen in 2004
like it was his he was older
the facial everything looked the same
his goatee was gray
but thicker
and like he
at this point it looked like a
his head looked like a conical head
but I think it's because he had a receding
hairline like it was going back
and his when he stepped out in front
his, like the whole demeanor of the situation changed.
Like everything just calmed down.
Like the younger one, I think it was like a father's son or a grandpa and son,
or grandpa and grandson.
Because the younger one was, you can tell that he was just more stout
and more filled out.
And, you know, he was a darker, not a darker gray,
but his skin was a gray.
And he was darker black, like his,
hair was.
When the older one stepped out, he had a salt and pepper look.
Like, you could just tell you he was older.
His goatee was bushy, and
it wrinkles in his face, and
it looked like the one that I seen earlier.
And so, like, when the
situation calmed down, it's still sitting there
on my knee with my pistol.
And, like, I felt
like everything, like, it wasn't going to attack.
Neither of them were going to attack. So I was like,
oh, I need to take a picture.
And then I was like, oh,
Sorry.
My kid has my phone.
Oh, my kid's by himself and the side by side.
And so I retracted back down there.
We got in the side by side or I got jumped in.
He was like, would you see?
I was like, nothing.
And I took off out of there.
He knew something was up because I was going down a lot faster down the mountain road than we did coming up.
So I took him back.
I told my wife that, hey, I seen something.
I contacted the guy that does, he's been doing Bigfoot research in Utah for quite a while.
He's like, and he said, I'm just leaving Logan.
Now I can meet you back up there in an hour.
And I said, okay.
So we went back up.
I dropped my boy off.
I grabbed my rifle instead of just my sidearm.
Just in case, you know, I went back up with him.
And we went back to the area and documented everything.
So there was tracks.
and it looked like they were walking in each other's tracks.
And he told me that he's seen it a lot,
that they try to cover how many are in their group.
But they walked from, like, from where I was standing,
trying to think.
So the road was going north.
And so I walked into the east side of the,
going up east side of the mountain.
And so I was facing east,
and he was facing west.
And so the tracks came from the north.
wrapped around the trees on the power lines and where the power lines opened up,
they skirted the edge of the trees and walked down the hill like they were walking down,
um,
heading towards town,
if you will.
And they went in,
we followed as far as we'd go until they went to private property.
And so we stopped there.
And then, uh,
later on,
um,
like a week or two later,
I went back up and put up,
uh,
game cameras.
It's actually,
this time of year that that happened in 2020.
So it was in December.
I think it was December 5th that the incident happened, if I remember correctly.
So we went up about this time of year in 2020 and set up game cameras.
But I think everything was out of the area by that time.
Wow.
That was those encounters.
That's some wild stuff right off the bat, Matt.
My goodness, are we able to discuss it?
at all, well, I guess the areas where these two sightings happened, it doesn't have to be super
specific if you don't want to.
Oh, yeah.
So it is, it's up Ogden Canyon and you go up, it's the Monte Cristo Range of the Wasage Mountains.
And the area that the first encounter happened is called Curtis Creek.
And so the road I was on it was right out of Arbs Basin.
And Curtis Creek is down further.
Like, it's the Curse Creek Road.
That's kind of what it's known as in this area.

They say everything happens for a reason, but I suspect everything happens for a Reese's.
Like this commercial break, did you need 15 seconds away from music, or 15 seconds to eat a Reese's?
Perhaps it's true.
Everything happens for a Reese's.
And I'm trying to remember the name of that highway that goes up there.
It's everybody calls it like, it's up by Ant Flat Road.
It connects Weaver Canyon or Ogden Canyon.
sorry to Logan Canyon.
Ant Flat Road does.
And I've taught a lot of people and they get weird.
They don't say big foot.
They're like, yeah, something's throwing rocks at me.
So that area has stuff happening in it.
And I go up there quite a bit.
It's also near, let's see, it's close to snow basin ski resort.
Sorry, not snow basin, powder mountain.
So if anybody knows where that area is, it's in that area above.
Pine View Reservoir.
Gotcha.
And it sounds like it's a pretty active area.
I did a quick search,
and there's BFRO's,
BFRO reports in this range going all the way back to 77
for sightings,
which is pretty cool that there have been,
there's a siting in 77,
there's one in 99.
Very, very cool.
stuff.
So the area where you had the visual in 2004 and then the area in 2020, how far away from each
other are those areas?
As the crow flies, I would say probably 10 miles.
But like if you're on the road, fall on the road, you're probably close to 15 maybe.
So they're not very far apart.
It's very close in proximity of each other where they're at.
Gotcha.
With the 2004 visual, you had used the, you had used the idea of like it looked like Clint Eastwood in Grand Treno.
And was that because of the emotion it was conveying or because it actually had some very human-like features to the face?
I'd say a little bit of both.
It was the emotions that it put off, but it was very, I'd say it was, and with my encounters,
I know everybody's had different encounters on what they look like, but I have a hard time
when everybody says that there, it was an ape like, but that, so, because what I seen was
very human like, it was the, the emotions, the scow, like, and I didn't see much of the lips
because it was covered in hair, and it, it looked like a beard, not like, uh, like fur, you know,
it was a beard.
And he had the, you know, the frowd, the frowd brow.
And it, it was very human.
So that's as much as it looked human.
Gotcha.
How many seconds in all would you say the 2004 one lasted?
I'd say five.
Like, because I was, I was doing probably 25 around the bend, maybe slower.
But it was just, my headlights passed.
it and I seen it and I watched until the headlights passed my head turned and then I hit the brakes.
Well, I mean, this sight sighting scene was about five seconds, but we were down there for probably
2030, me backing up trying to get back to see it and my girlfriend at the time, like we were
going back and forth about trying to get back up over there.
So I'd only backed up.
I probably drove past the site for about 20, 30 feet and I only backed up probably 15.
Gotcha. Did it seem to be doing anything when you first had the visual of it? Was it doing any actions?
Did he just stand in there staring? Like, I'm sure the feeling that I got is that he was mad that I was there like I was disrupting his peace.
Like, because my truck was loud. I wasn't driving fast. I felt like I was driving fast for the conditions. I shouldn't have been driving as fast as I was, expect you on that.
road to end at night.
But, like, and that's how I just felt like he was like, like, dang kids, you know, or like,
you know, like someone's hot rodding down my road.
That's what it felt like.
Yeah, absolutely.
Man, that's, that is so, so weird.
For the 2020 siting where you had the visual of one by the tree, it sounds like it's
kind of a similar experience that.
it was just standing there when you first saw it yeah when i when i rounded this the location was on a
a bend it come around and it bent and uh i was just kind of looking you know just watching and i seen it
and it when i first seen it because i thought it was a uh like a black bear scratching its back on
the tree that's what i thought and then i looked harder and look look look back like that's not a black bear
Like it was massive
The first creature
Or the first big foot
He was probably
Eight and a half foot
And like the younger one
I guess
I'll say I refer him to the younger one
He was probably eight and a half foot
The older one was a little shorter
But it looked like he was kind of
I wouldn't say hunchback
But like
Not as proud
I guess that's like
You know he didn't have his shoulders
Held his high
But he was just as wide
You know
It looked like
like a piece of plywood sitting there just they were they were massive uh and when i i refer it to uh
you know who brian shaw is world strong man i believe so yeah that's like his stature is what
it reminded me of is it just how big he was and the muscle density um like you like and i think
and like when i'm looking back on it you couldn't really see too much of skin you could see gray
But I felt like maybe they had a winter coat on or something like the skin, the hair was thicker.
And it was just like, you know, it was thick on the chest and throughout the whole body.
But you could see, you could see things, you know.
But they were just muscle, like the younger one was more defined in muscle wise.
The older one, you could tell that he wasn't as defined, but he was still had a lot of muscle density.
Gotcha. You'd mentioned that it kind of looked blocky slash pixelated.
Yeah.
Can you go into that a little bit more? I find that really interesting going off of other things I've heard.
Yeah. It's kind of hard to explain for me to explain it. I'm not very good with words, but it just looked when I was behind the tree and trying to look at him without getting full.
like full frontal because I was kind of hiding from tree to tree.
And when I went like when I stepped out,
it looked like he just maybe like turned.
Maybe he wasn't full broadside to me.
And it kind of, yeah, it's like a mirror.
And that's why I said a reflective light,
like a mirror turning.
Like you're seeing the full picture of it now.
And I've talked to a couple other guys that are like,
oh, he was probably cloaking like,
like, predator.
And it, I wouldn't say it kind of looked like that from the movies, but I wouldn't say 100%.
Yeah, he was cloaking.
Like it, it looked like a like mirror-ish, if you will, until I went full.
So we were broadside to each other.
And then it was full on.
You know, I could see everything.
That's really interesting.
So just to check a few things.
So are you saying like when it wasn't, yeah, that is a really hard concept to grasp.
So at one point then, were you able to see half through it or just not all the details in a way?
I'd say not all the details.
I wouldn't say all the way through it.
Like kind of, you know how when someone holds like they got those, they set up mirrors to make a, what they call it like camouflage where they set up mirrors.
it just looks like the rest of everything.
That's kind of the best way that I can describe it is that's what it looked like.
So I wouldn't even say it was half mirror and half cloaking like predator looking kind of thing.
Because I could see, and I don't know if it was just me trying to comprehend everything that was going on.
But or if he was just standing weird and then when I went broadside with him, he went broadside to me.
and it was just full on, you know, full on site.
Wow, that is really fascinating.
And, I mean, there's, depending on what it actually is,
there's different ways to look at that.
I mean, if you take the physical creature side,
I mean, there are other animals in this world
where they can make themselves invisible or, you know,
camouflage like an octopus can camouflage immediately, right?
Yeah.
So there are other things that can do that.
But then you have maybe more the paranormal side where, you know, you're looking into,
okay, can this thing do things like cloaking like you had said?
Or is it, you know, halfway in a portal?
Is it coming out of a portal?
You know, and we don't know because we haven't been able to really study them in the way that would need to be studied to figure that out.
So it is a fascinating encounter because I,
I think the main part of it that really fascinates me is that you were able to see something happen.
And we don't know if it's because of what the creature was doing or because of maybe the position that you were looking at and you were changing positions.
There's so many questions that come from this one encounter, you know.
Yeah.
And I never even thought about the portal thing until you just said that because the older one,
I didn't see him until he stepped out in front of him.
Like even my peripherals or anything,
but I've always thought that maybe because I was so focused on that one,
I had tunnel vision on him.
So I never seen him until he stepped out in front.
Yeah, that's tricky too, because it's like,
could be portal.
But, I mean, if you, I'm sure you've seen pictures of, like,
a mountain line in camouflage or, like, a,
what is it?
I saw one of an owl against a tree and it was like you would never know it was there until it started
moving.
The wild,
wild stuff.
So it's cool because it could be,
the encounter could be taken either way,
that one part.
Now,
you mentioned that you've,
you've been able to meet this,
another researcher that is much more,
I mean,
it sounds like this researcher has.
has been into this for multiple, multiple years.
Yeah, I think he's been doing it for 20 plus years.
Oh, wow.
Here in the Utah area.
He does a lot of stuff up in Deadwood also.
Absolutely.
Now, based on conversations with him after that happened or maybe your own research,
have you heard of any other experiences in this area where a similar thing happens, where, you know,
know, it kind of has this, this weird blocky or pixelated thing happen?
I haven't heard too much of the, the pixelated or the blocky thing happened.
But when I was talking to him in two, oh, when I'm trying to remember, I met him in 2016.
And we talked about my first encounter.
And his friend that he had with him, halfway through describing what I seen, he stopped
and then finished describing it.
So he, we believe we've seen the same creature.
It's in the same area, like the same Monte Cristo area.
He was just further in off the pavement than I was when he's seen it.
And he said that he was setting up his tent and stood up and it was looking, it was on the other side of the tent looking at him.
Then casually, it was like, not kneeling, yeah, kneeling.
Then it stood up and casually walked away.
Oh my goodness.
I can't imagine that.
I mean, that's literally feet away.
Yeah.
Right.
I mean, unless your tent is massive, which most people are not going to have a massive tent out there, I would imagine.
So, and talking to, like, when I started actually getting into the research,
I had to just, you know, listen to the stories, which I love listening to the stories, like, you know, all the podcasts out there.
And I love listening to people's encounter stories.
when I started actually doing research and talking to people,
people have described the same Bigfoot that I've seen
throughout the entire Washatch Front from Idaho down into Beaver.
And that's 2-300-mile range.
Oh, yeah, that puts a whole different spin on it then.
My goodness.
My theory is on it, they, I've heard stories, or not stories,
but tell of like a seven-year cycle with the wildlife, right?
don't know if you've heard about that.
I feel like they just follow the food and they don't overeat the area that they're in.
They just keep moving.
They're kind of a nomad.
And so I think maybe they're back in the area when I seen them in 2020 and they're just coming down into the lower elevation for food.
Because it was two males possibly hunting, you know, looking for food.
And that's my theory because they've been seen from Idaho down.
a beaver throughout the entire wash edge range and i don't know if it's the same ones or different
families or different clans or however they operate okay can you explain a little more of what the
seven-year cycle is i can try um and i'm not even i've just heard you know my dad and old farmers
talk about it so the seven-year cycle is um like the food in the area it goes through a seven-year cycle
like they'll eat this area
and so they don't stay in this area
the entire time.

Take noise-canceling headphones.
Do they block hearing to heighten taste?
Hmm.
That sound seems to show.
Everything happens for a reeses.
They'll move on kind of like regenerative farming.
So you move the animals from one area to a different area so they don't overeat it.
And you don't bring them back to that area for a while.
So like those animals don't come back and do this area for another seven years or something like that.
If I think that's how it goes.
Okay.
Yeah, that makes sense.
So if the food source moves, then the predators are going to move as well.
Okay, yeah.
And that lines up with, you know, I've talked to a few hunters out in the Willamette National Forest near Oak Ridge, Oregon.
And, I mean, they were able to show me on maps.
It was crazy.
They were like, this is where the L-Kurds are here, here, here at this time, and this is
where all the Bigfoot sightings are happening.
So it's like you can see the Bigfoot pretty much following the El-Kurds as they move
around.
Crazy, crazy stuff.
Are you at the point, Matt, where people are coming to or you are able to talk to other
witnesses in the area about their encounters they're having?
I'm trying to and I've got some people lined up do some interviews.
I started my own little research channel, or a YouTube channel and stuff.
This last year's been hectic because of work and stuff like that.
And I told my wife this year I'm going 100% into the YouTube and the research and doing the stuff.
So this year, I've got people lined up to do interviews.
I've had a couple interviews last year with a couple guys from my.
Montana, some friends that I have up there.
So that's the end goal is to get more interviews and more people talking about it.
That's awesome.
I would recommend, you know, just to decide if you're able to have people actually come on camera for interview, I think that is, I mean, I've started to do it myself as we're doing now, but I think it's one of the most powerful things because, you know, someone who stumbles onto your channel, they can be like,
oh, this is an actual real person, not AI, not some weird computer voice.
Like, this is an actual person.
And you can see their emotions and how they were affected by this.
So it would be fun to see where your channel goes.
And I'll make sure to have that linked in the description for this.
But what is your goal through all of the Bigfoot research and field work that you're starting to do?
The end goal in the research and all this is to prove that he exists, right?
You know, whether there's something out there.
But for me, I think the only way that you're going to be able to prove it is a body.
But I am also, I'm against, you know, killing of the Bigfoot,
but I think that's not the way you're going to be able to do it because there's been so many people out there that have,
I feel like have proven that have evidence, you know, DNA evidence through hair or something like that.
And then all of a sudden, like, it's gone.
oh, we lost your thing or it, you know, it gets covered up somehow.
But even then, I think even if you had a body, it would get covered up.
So it's, you know, the end goal is to prove to show some sort of existence, whether it's, you know, DNA evidence footprints, or even it's also just a fun way for me to get out into the woods and just, you know, reconnect with the woods.
And I don't have fun.
I enjoy doing it, and it's also there for a little bit.
I did struggle with PTSD.
So this has helped me get past some of those hurdles and stuff like that.
Absolutely.
When you've been out in the areas where you are researching and trying to have encounters, etc.,
have you experienced any other weird things out there that are kind of outside the realm of being normal?
There was where it was the weekend after Thanksgiving.
I was in a different area up Logan Canyon,
and this is probably a 40, 50 mile,
azacro flies distance away.
I went up there just to kind of drive around and, like, do some research.
But I didn't realize how many people go up and cut Christmas trees down.
So it was, I got up there at like 5 o'clock in the morning,
got up into this area that I've been trying to get to for the past couple years,
and I have a modified bronco that I take up.
So I was able to get into it this area,
because the past couple times,
it felt like the universe was stopping me.
I got up there a couple years ago,
and my transmission was overheating and puking out transmission fluid,
so I had to turn around and go home.
The next time I went up, I went up with my brother and our side-by-side,
and I didn't put fuel in it before we left camp,
And I didn't realize it until we got to the turnoff to get to this area.
The fuel light was flashing.
So we were to turn around and go back.
And by the time we got fuel in it, the temperature had dropped so bad that my battery went bad.
And the side-by-side wouldn't stay running.
So I got up there and I was really excited to get up there, started walking around.
And something fell off.
It was about the same feeling that I had when I was in, when I took my boy out.
and so I'm walking around just kind of talking, talking to the camera, you know, talking about footprints
because I was going over, I seen a, it was probably an elk track or something like that.
So I walked next to it to show what footprints and everything looked like.
And then I was turning around.
I walked, you know, in the, in the big foot way of one foot right in front of the other and trying to stride out,
showing how difficult it is and what it looks like between a regular, you know, regular human watch.
And then I just felt like I was being watched and there's something.
And then I started heading back towards the truck.
And without even noticing it, I was whispering to the camera and kind of jogging from
tree to tree.
And then I realized I was doing it.
And so I stopped.
And I was hearing, I wouldn't even say it was footprints.
It was like trees cracking or something like something moving around, but I couldn't
hear footprints or something walking.
but I could hear something in the trees almost.
I really wanted to stay because that's what we're out there for to find things like that.
But I was by myself and I was too creeped out to do it by myself.
So I got back in the truck and on the way back out, I damaged the front end of my Bronco and I couldn't unlock my hubs.
And so I couldn't drive home.
I had to wait for a trailer to come up the next day.
So I had to stay the night up there.
and I switch everything over from summer to winter.
Like I always have a tent in there.
So I had to stay the night.
And I'm sure this is my mind playing tricks on me.
But throughout the night, I kept waking up and hearing things.
But I think about 4 o'clock in the morning, it started snowing.
And so I think it was the snow coming down and just, you know, barometric pressure, changing things.
And, yeah, it was kind of, I didn't get very much sleep because I kept hearing things.
and it could have just been me amped up and thinking that I was hearing things too.
Oh my goodness.
That story could have ended way differently if you hadn't been prepared like that.
Wow.
Ooh, that's a great example for anyone that's listening that is like I'm going to go out with a buddy or whatever and try to find Bigfoot.
You need to be prepared for anything to happen.
And, I mean, you had a tent with you.
How many people are bringing a tent with them just in case?
I mean, I don't think a lot.
Like, that's wild.
That comes from experience because I've had to sleep in the truck before because of things like that.
So I was like, well, I'm going to pack the things that I know I'm going to need just in case.
My wife really hates it when I go out by myself.
And so when I got home, you know, she kind of, I told you.
That's funny.
Is there a account that sticks out that you've been told around the area that you found
interesting to hear.
Yeah, so that same guy that I was referring to that does the research,
he does his own channel. It's Rocky Mountain Sasquatch organization.
And I was listening to him one day. I was just getting like,
I was getting ready for work or something. And so he had,
he was just telling a story. And so he was talking about this guy that was up,
Logan Canyon in a place called Tony's Grove. And where I stayed the night in Tony's Grove,
they're probably about 10, 15 miles apart from each other, if I remember correctly.
So he's talking about this guy that was, and I think it was probably the late 80s, early 90s.
I don't know the time frame about, you know, he's up there elk hunting.
And so something's messing with him.
There's a big foot that's messing with him.
So they moved to Curtis Creek to get away from whatever it was.
And it followed him over to Curtis Creek.
And Curtis Creek is where I had my first encounter.
So he's telling the story and he mentions the guy's name.
I was like, I know that name.
And then just knowing who the guy is and where he worked,
it was my ex-wife, the girl that was with me the first time,
it was her best friend's dad that had the encounter.
And so I had spent, this guy got me,
the guy that he's talking got me in Delcunning.
Never told me the story at all, never talked about it,
You know, I've been, he knew I was into Bigfoot, but maybe he didn't know I was into it that much where I would have enjoyed that story.
But I never heard it from him.
So that's the encounter that I got.
And, like, just the fact that it followed him.
And, you know, I always hear, you know, people like, I'm worried that's going to follow me home or whatever.
That it followed him.
That's very interesting to me that that happened.
And it harassed him that long of a distance away and everything like that.
Oh, my goodness.
Yeah, that's wild.
So that's Kelly Shaw.
our MSO channel, right?
That guy.
So you're saying that's just one you watched, or are you saying that you actually hang out
with Kelly?
Kelly's the one that went up with me to do the research and everything like that.
Oh, no way.
So I talked to Kelly, I won't say quite a bit, but, you know, every now and then I'll
have like a thought, I'll run it past him and, you know, he's going to, we've done a little
collab every now and then.
We've done stuff together.
But not too much.
But I like Kelly.
He's a good guy.
Yeah, I have not talked to him yet.
I need to maybe put him on the list, reach out to him.
So are you saying, so did you just reach out to him one day after hearing something on the channel and be like, okay, let's hang out?
I would say, 2016, I was, I, that's what I think is when I decided to actually start doing more recent.
and looking out. And so I went on one of the Facebook hunting clubs or a hunting pages and asked,
hey, has anybody had any weird encounters? You know, and of course, you're going to get laughed
at, knocked at which you've got to have thick skin if you're doing what we do, right? Right.
And so people were saying things. And then someone's like, hey, tag me and Kelly together.
And then I'm trying to remember exactly. He sent me a YouTube video to listen to about a guy up in
Washington. So I listened to that. And then I told him, I said, oh, that's, that's awesome. I said,
I had this encounter. And we went up and did, like, went back to my encounter area in 2004.
And we talked about that. And then we've just been kind of talking here and there since 2016.
So, you know, every now and then, I'll all talk to them. And, you know, we did another
kind of a clab. My, uh, my recording stuff that I did on it was not very good. Like my sound went out.
I was using an old phone, so I didn't end up getting a video.
My stuff didn't work.
We went to a place called Hart Scrabble.
It is behind, it is Morgan County, but it's on the east side of the Wasatch front.
And there's a lot of stuff that happens there.
But it's all private property, and I had access for a day.
So we went up there and was checking things out.
When I'm up in the mountains, you know, like I, so my, I don't know, you know, if you're not doing stories,
this if you're just up looking and I don't know if you feel like I've tried to watch people's
uh channel and it's not nothing against them but walking around in the trees looking for
bigfoot can get kind of boring you know watching the videos which if with my attention span I have
a little ADHD I wrap other things in my video like off road and I'll do cooking and so there's
times that I've been out doing things I'll because my bronco set up for off road things so I've
had a big old winch and all this stuff on it.
And I run into people and I'll, you know, they'll be stuck on the side of the road or something like that.
And I'll help them out and I'll get them out.
And they're like, oh, you know, I like your Bronco because it's, I got bigfoot things all over it.
I'm like, oh, yeah, this is what I do.
And they're like, oh, well, by the way, I had seen this in this area.
I don't know what it was, but I had, you know, something hooting at me like an owl.
But if it was an owl, it was a big owl.
So, you know, just things like that.
happened here and there so and that's i just tried i try to talk to people as much as i can when i'm out
just you know be nice and hey kirk you know and i've even had uh game wardens not not really game
wardens but forestry people come up and uh ask what i'm doing and i'll tell them and they'll be like well
i seen some hairy legs over here in this location once hairy legs yeah hairy legs he was looking down like uh
looking at the trail or something like that
and said he's seeing the leg standing in front of him.
He said he's too scared to look up, so he just backed out and left.
No way.
Yeah.
So it's just random things like that, and that's just meeting people out in, you know, just out in nature.
And they'll see what you're doing, you know, and that's one of the biggest things for me is getting it out there because 20, 30 years ago, if you talked about Bigfoot, you were a label of Cooke.
Oh yeah, 100% crazy.
Even in the military side, like I was never afraid to talk about it on the military side.
Maybe it's because, I mean, I was just a truck driver in the Army.
So there wasn't too much security reasons there.
But, you know, maybe if I was higher up somewhere, they wouldn't take too kindly to it.
Yeah, did anyone, so you were talking about Bigfoot during your service.
Did anyone ever respond with, oh, yeah, I had something happen or any conversations that came
up um so some of my friends that i made in there the one of the guys he helps me on my channel a lot
and so we kind of like you know i've made those connections there but not really not too much
i mean i was in the reserves for most of my time so we did do stuff in washington um up at jblm
and i tried to do as much stuff as i could out there tried talking to people but most people
they're like oh i'm not from here i just got stationed here not too long ago so i haven't had
anything happen. So it's trying to, and people that are in and are active duty don't,
I think maybe it's the active duty culture that they don't want to talk about it. But I,
and it's getting less taboo, I guess, now than it really ever has been.
For individuals that are not up to the lingo, JBLM is joint base Lewis McCord, right?
Yes.
Okay.
And which Fort Lewis is extremely known for actually Bigfoot activity and Bigfoot encounters.
Yep.
Absolutely.
Did you hear when you were there, just no one talking about like, oh, yeah, we were on patrol out in the woods, outside of the base and something weird happened?
Nothing like that.
No, they, the kind of thing about being in the reserves when you're out there for training, they kind of stick you away from everybody else.
Okay.
So there's like, all right, we're going to sneak you guys over here.
You guys do what you need to do and kind of leave the rest of everybody alone almost.
Got it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I got it.
I've heard some wild stuff from that area.
I mean, there's some weird stuff that happens for sure.
But I get how you wouldn't really be hearing anything if you're in that situation.
What would be a scenario where if it happened to you during your Bigfoot research,
then you could walk away and you could be, I'm done.
I've accomplished 100% what I set out to do.
I don't, honestly, if something happened, like, if they come out and was like, okay,
I think the only thing that would actually stop me is if it come out, I'm like, okay,
the whole thing's been a hoax.
We've been doing it for years just to mess with you people, like the government or whoever
I think that's the only thing that would stop me.
Like even if they come out and it was like, hey, we have a body, bigfoot's real.
Or, you know, I think I would still go out and look, like, for my own satisfaction.
Like, if I, here's, like, my wife asked me, what are you going to do if you get them on camera?
Are you going to post that video?
Are you, I'm like, honestly, I don't know.
I think I would probably get a hold of anybody I could in the scientific community to show the video to,
before I even uploaded it because
and the crappy thing about
this day and age and technology
there's so much AI out there.
Even if you did have the best
picture, the best video, everything,
it's going to be labeled fake
and as a hoax.
100% I think about this every
day because we are
at the point where you can say
to AI, you can be like
make me a 1990s
style handicam video
of a Bigfoot doing the, and like
it's pretty stinking good.
And the only, like whenever anyone sends me stuff,
if it doesn't have metadata or something where I can prove it,
or like there's coordinates in some metadata on photos,
I am really suspicious of it because, again,
AI is getting,
it's just terrible.
It is absolutely terrible.
That's why I don't use it for episode graphics anymore.
I'm staying away from that stuff.
stuff, we need to be focusing on other things.
Yeah.
Not relying on, like, I feel it's muddying the waters.
It is really muddying the waters.
And, yeah, I don't know.
It's a discussion in itself.
But, yeah, it's, I need to have a discussion with my AI guy again on the show.
I think.
It's been a few months.
But just, it's wild.
you are in such an interesting area and I think this is the first time on the show that we've talked about this area of Utah.
There might be one years ago, but nothing recent.
So it'll be interesting to see if other people reach out through the comments or through email, you know, to share what they've experienced or maybe they've also experienced something that looked exactly like what you described, which I would not be.
surprised at all really and that's and i and i try to encourage people like and i've put on my on my channel
like at the end of hey if you've had an encounter you know let me know i'll if you guys want to talk about it
i mean because a lot of people they just want to talk about they don't care about being on camera
they just want it off their chest um like when i i go to at least once a year i'll go to the hunting
pages on facebook and ask has anybody seen anything you know like i don't care like supernatural like
ghosts or what it like you know it because it makes for fun content also but you know the main end
goal for me is bigfoot related stuff uh if you guys had seen anything let me know and then first comment
oh you're a quack you know whatever and then that person will privately message me like hey i've seen
this in this area while while deer hunting and i'm like well you know you could have just messes
me and not sending on you know but i feel like they're so defensive in what they seen
they've got to get it out of the way like they got to be defensive first
like because they don't want to be I don't I know they don't want to be outed for being weird or seeing something but it's I don't know absolutely and and that's actually I do a similar thing sometimes and it's exactly as you said you will get about 10 guys in the comments where they'll be making fun of you which is cool and then two weeks later usually you'll get a few direct messages that be like oh are you the guy that was talking about the bigfoot in like in like sweet home
Oregon Facebook group or whatever, just like the really niche regional ones or like Prince
of Wales Island Facebook group, you know, stuff like that guys.
Just be smart and you'll find the small Facebook groups and you can get in, get in them
and you know, you'll get made fun of, but you'll get some cool stuff.
But my goodness, also another thing you mentioned, yeah, if the government comes out and
says Bigfoot is real, we are going to be the most, we're going to be.
way more busy because I think after that then all these people that have been holding back be like,
oh, okay, so it's okay for me to share now.
It's going to be intense, dude.
I hope we get there one day.
I really, I really do.
But we'll see.
We'll see what the future brings.
But, you know, Matthew, I want to make sure that you are able to share everything that you wanted to share about your encounters today, first off.
Um, well, there's one thing. So in this, in the same area, and then I don't really, I don't really know if it's Bigfoot related or not, but it's odd. So I would say it was in 2002, in the same area, the first, first sighting, I went archery hunting with a guy from my church. So I took him to this area, because this area used to be really good for my family. And it wasn't, uh, so we, you come up on a knoll and it's like a really windy area. And I was like, oh, my dad.
told me he's a shot deer down in here.
So you walk down this road and walk into the trees.
And I'll walk into the trees this way and see if I can push anything to you.
So he's all right.
So he walks down 100 yards and I walk into the trees and we walk in at the same time.
And I was probably, I don't know, 50, 60 feet into the trees.
Kind of just picking my way through, walking and kind of zigzagging.
And I'm standing there and I feel like something behind me.
And I don't, because there's moose in the area also.
So I was like, well, I was 17, maybe 17, 18 years old at this time.
So I was like, well, if it's a moose, I don't want to move right now, you know.
And so out of my peripherals, I'm trying to look at my peripherals without moving.
And I see brown like on both sides.
So I'm thinking moose, right?
And there's a tree to my right.
I went to my right.
So there's a tree to my right.
I can see it.
And I felt like it was big enough that I can put it between me and the moose.
and so I'm like getting ready to move and I twist and just like move to my right and twist so I can see what it is.
There's nothing there.
So and like I never put I never put it like lumped at the end of that.
Like I just chalked out as a weird experience.
And I didn't see anything there.
I'm like, oh, the guy from the hunter that I took up there, he's messing with me.
So I walk, I go directly, walk directly to my right and up and out onto another road.
I'm like, where is this guy?
And so I start walking down that road
heading, I think I'm heading north at this time,
and he comes out of the trees in front of me
and other 50 yards in front of me.
He's like, oh, hey, there you are.
And he was like, what are you doing?
He's like, oh, I was chasing something this way
going in the completely different direction
than what was behind me.
So he wasn't anywhere near me when it happened.
Oh, man, weird.
So, I mean, and that's in the same area
that this has happened.
Sounds like a really weird area.
I'm sure there will be people that reach out.
Is there a way people can contact you directly, Matt, to report stuff?
Yeah, through my email at Sasquatch Offroad at Yahoo.com.
And then I've also got a Facebook that I get messages on there, which is just Sasquatch Off Road on Facebook.
Awesome.
And that's also the name of your YouTube channel, correct?
Yeah.
On YouTube, it's Sasquatch Off Road.
adventures. I realize that there's a lot other Sasquatch off-roads, but it's a, like, four-by-four
builds. And when you Sasquatch Off Road, when you search it on YouTube, it brings up a lot of
the new Broncos. So if you do Sasquatch Offroad Adventures, it'll bring up my page directly.
Fantastic. So everyone listening, make sure you go over and subscribe to Matt's channel,
and I will have the specific links to everything in the show notes.
or description of the episode, depending on where you're listening or watching it.
But Matt, thank you so much for coming on the show today and sharing what you've experienced
over the years.
And best of luck in the future, hopefully you're able to talk to a lot of people and continue
to have things happen yourself.
Thank you.
You're having me.
I appreciate it.
It's been a good time talking to you.
Before we wrap this episode, I want to say something directly to a very specific group
of listeners.
If you're in the military, any branch, or forces, and if you've seen something that no one can explain,
or if you're a national park ranger or forestry worker who's been told to stay quiet,
if you're a pilot who's seen something strange down on the ground,
or if you're with the FBI, a federal agency, or working intelligence,
and you've stumbled upon something you're not allowed to talk about,
and if you're a firefighter, paramedic, or search-and-rescue responder,
who's heard screams or found tracks that didn't make sense,
if you're in the logging industry on a remote oil field or trucker with government contracts,
and you've had something happen that you've never told a soul.
And if you're a biologist, a wildlife specialist, or a field researcher under contract,
who has found evidence you're not allowed to report.
If you're a pastor, a missionary, or someone on a spiritual retreat,
and you saw something that shook your faith,
or if you work in the shadows, CIA, NSA, or anything with clearance,
and you've seen what the public hasn't,
then I want to talk to you.

Or 15 seconds to eat a Reese's?
Perhaps it's true.

If you've been following the news,
you know the world is dealing with a level of uncertainty
that isn't going away anytime soon.
Inflation pressures, global tensions,
and the highest U.S.
levels on record continue to influence markets day after day, and the result is familiar to anyone
checking their retirement balances or savings accounts. Volatility has become the norm. In times
like these, people often look for ways to strengthen their financial foundation. Physical gold
and silver have served that purpose throughout history. They're real assets that exist outside
the digital and financial systems that tend to fluctuate during economic stress. They're not a guarantee
and they're not a shortcut to wealth, but they can offer diversification when things feel unpredictable.
Reserve Gold is committed to helping Americans understand their options with simple educational
information, including how precious metals can be held in an IRA.
