Starting point is 00:00:00 The Bill Myers Show podcast is sponsored by Klausur drilling. They've been leading the way in Southern Oregon well drilling for over 50 years. Find out more about them at Klausor drilling.com. Yep, snow level about 2,500 feet. Most of it I see over at Collier Tunnels. That's about it right now. And also Highway 140, not seeing much over at the situation on the Siskos, not seeing much of the Siskies kind of dry at the moment.
Starting point is 00:00:24 That could change any moment. Okay, just so you know, 10 minutes after 7. Hey, Carol, how are you doing? You've been reading up a lot on the Venezuelan attack and the regime change over the weekend. What are you thinking? Yes, well, like I said, I got, I'm talking a little bit. I did get the Epic Times notification I get on my phone. I got two different ones Sunday morning.
Starting point is 00:00:45 They took one down, and it had a lot more detail about what Trump is planning on doing. And some of it has to do with they do have somebody in mind to bring back in charge. and it was a, I forget the name of the leader that they want to put back in. It was somebody who was a legitimately elected. Now, I don't, is this the one that has been complaining was the Nobel Peace Prize winner, that one? Oh, no, no, it was a man. Okay, all right, yes. I think it was.
Starting point is 00:01:14 So they weren't going with the Nobel Peace Prize leftist. Okay, gotcha. I don't think so, no. All right. And they also talked, I was just thinking before when I talked to you, I was thinking they did talk to you about there are plenty of people to have left, Venezuela over the years, a lot of them want to come back. Yeah. You know, the people that have left, they want to come back and help with all the bringing
Starting point is 00:01:35 back Venezuela. And this is wonderful, but, okay, see, the thing is, you're a mature individual as am I, as are most of our listeners, right? We understand, and so we understand when we're told that it's about the war, that it's about the drugs. It's like, that's nonsense. Absolutely not. It's nonsense.
Starting point is 00:01:53 That's what is there for the standard, the standard rube. you know, out there, you know, okay, yeah, well, it's really, we can do this. The thing is, though, is that that is the sliver of legality that it goes on to. Honestly, what we'll probably end up seeing is that there's going to be a properly pliable puppet installed, and that's the way we tend to do these kind of things. It's the way we did it in Iraq. Right. And that's where we, it's what we've done with other places.
Starting point is 00:02:19 So just look for that. It's someone that is going to be, I think President Trump was saying that he was talking to the, or putting out a message to the, the current vice president of Venezuela and saying that either that either she does the right thing or things aren't going to go well for her, that kind of thing. Correct, very temporary. She's going to be very temporary. Yeah, so we may not run it directly, but we will certainly have our person there.
Starting point is 00:02:46 I think we know that's how that's going to work. They have people that want to do it correctly that they've already talked to, apparently. Now, the interesting thing about this all, Carol, which I find fascinating, is that you know the people who didn't say anything over the weekend that you thought would be most noisy about it? Oh. The oil companies. Correct. Yeah, the oil companies, they kept, what?
Starting point is 00:03:10 And other than Chevron, see, Chevron's the only one that is left there right now. And I have a feeling that the oil companies are relatively risk-averse, and they would have to see what they would think of as a way to make it profitable, because, yeah, the price of oil went up a buck, but it's been really low for several times, of course, for several months now. And that's really great for our gas price, but that makes the oil company say, I don't know if I'm really interested in building another refinery or building another facility to work on what might be, you know, what might turn to crap again like it did before in Venezuela. But we'll have to see. Well, apparently that's what they're going to bring back is oil, because that's what
Starting point is 00:03:49 was feeding the people. That's what made Venezuela great, and they did talk about that. So it was going to be the thing. So maybe we'll have Vice Roy. Let's see, what's his name? Who's our Secretary of State? I just dropped, I just forgot his name. Marco Ruby, a little Marco. Yeah, we could have Vice.
Starting point is 00:04:06 He was on, of course, Margaret Brennan tried to get him to say all kinds of things, and he really talked her down really fast. Yeah, it'll be Vice Roy. Well, he'll be Vice Roy. Vice Roy. Marco. Vice Roy Marco. I think that would be great.
Starting point is 00:04:19 No, he has too many jobs right now as is. Absolutely. And he didn't flinch at all. She tried to, you know, like the man you had on earlier, they haven't peep, they haven't had a peep except, of course, you heard, oh, what's his name? In the House, the Democrat. It's all wrong. It's all wrong, you know. Oh, that would be, well, you're talking about our senators. Schumer. Well, we have Senator Ron Wyden and also Senator Jeff Merckley. Oh, yes. Yeah. Our Merckley, all of them. And he says it's all about oil, but I do agree with Merckley to an extent on that. It is about the oil, but I think it has more to do with making sure that that oil remains priced in the U.S. dollar, because that is the, you know, the biggest job of the president right now and the Federal Reserve and everybody else is really to ultimately defend the dollar to an extent.
Starting point is 00:05:13 Absolutely. Yeah, absolutely. And that's shaky. We all know that. Yeah. I appreciate the call. Thanks for making it, though. 7-7-0K MBD. Let me go to, I don't know who's on the other phone live, but we're going to find out. Hi, good morning. Who's this?
Starting point is 00:05:27 Hello. Is this me? It sure is. Who's this? This is Lauren, not Neal Point. Lauren, why do you think of this morning, huh? Well, I'm going to go a little different direction than what we're going. I'm not going to talk about the politics of the whole thing. I'm going to talk about a family and our church.
Starting point is 00:05:43 Basically, actually, there are a Hispanic pastor and his wife. Yesterday we had prayer time together before church and service, and they're very, very burdened. They have family. They have children and grandchildren and other families down there and really burdened about that, caring about. And so we need to be praying for the people down there is what my appeal is, regardless of the politics of the whole thing. Whatever, you know, the country's in disarray right now after all the bombing and everything. And so that's the reason I called in just to say, pray. pray for the families down there and the churches, because I know there's some strong Christian
Starting point is 00:06:21 churches down there. And so that's my point. Duly noted. And thank you for the call, as always, Lauren. Be well. Thank you. See you. Bye. Bye. Catch up with the hand of the update here in just a moment. Then we're going to talk a little closer to home about that Agate Road. Have an individual that says that we need to do some changes out on Aged Road in the White City Eagle Point area. We'll talk with him about that next. This hour of the Bill Myers Show is sponsored by Glacier Heating and Air. making sense of the heating and air business. For service, repair, rebuild, or replacement,
Starting point is 00:06:52 trust the experts at Dusty's Transmissions, serving generations since 1979. They also repairs Bill Meyer. Yeah, before we get to our next talk on the issues here, by the way, 20 minutes after is 7. The weather, of course, is starting to break down a little bit in some of the higher hills. We're seeing some snow flurries and some of it's starting to stick to the roads here.
Starting point is 00:07:12 And I'm looking at the I-5 passes on, Siskue just wet at this point. I'm not seeing much on Sexton at this point in time, but there is Highway 199, about an inch of snow on either side of the Collier tunnels and it is snowing. You see fluffy
Starting point is 00:07:31 rain in Cave Junction and Hayes Hill, not sticking, but you can see is a little bit on the road at this point. Highway 140, though, is getting a pretty good dump right now at the top. Looks like there's a couple of inches at the very top at 140
Starting point is 00:07:46 Lake of the Woods is what I'm seeing at least on the trip check road camp. So do keep that in mind. All right. Just know that you get above 2,500 feet and there's a pretty good chance you're going to see some of that going on. All right. Wanted to take a look at what is going on here on the roads a little closer. Harry Snyder joins me. Harry Snyder and we welcome to the show. Harry, you're a resident living in the Agate Road area out, Eagle Point, White City. Tell us a little bit about yourself, please. Yep, I sure am. Yeah, the situation out here is escalating. I've been in contact with the county for a long time here, talking for the people on Agate Road, going to meetings. And their response basically is, it's a high traffic road.
Starting point is 00:08:35 And people should know they should go 55 miles an hour. Well, that's not what happens. Okay, so this is Agat Road. What section of Agat Road are you speaking about specifically? for those who don't know. So Agate Road goes from 234 to White City, before we stop where the fire station is. It's basically the whole road. I live in kind of the middle where the S-turn is and the Vine Hill and Lynn Road. So if you're a farmer or you raise horses, cattle on Agate Road, the county's kind of got about that. And I've had several reports on the conditions that they report on. Just saying
Starting point is 00:09:27 it's about 4,000 cars a day on Agate Road right now. And they don't feel that they should do anything about the speed. So you think there's too much speeding that's going on for safety sake on Agat Road? Oh, yes. They know it goes from 65 miles an hour to set 92 miles an hour. And we've become a truck route, too, with a lot of heavy trucks. I know I had a truck come through here at 4 o'clock the other morning with a 10-wheeler with a equipment trailer who lit up like a Christmas tree. It took him from Lynn Road to my house, which is almost 600 feet, to Jake down to make that S-turn. If you get on Agate Road and you do try to go 55 miles an hour, you're in their way.
Starting point is 00:10:24 So is it even faster on the Agate Road, you think, than Highway 62? Because, no, they're speeding on Highway 62, but at least Highway 62, a lot of places is four lanes across. You know, it's a pretty big wide, open kind of place, not a lot of curves, really. Yes. But they also have, you know, 45 mile because of the lights and the city. So if you want to avoid the, if you're a truck and you want to avoid the scale, if you go down and I get road. Oh, okay. So that's what you think's going on. Okay. So what is the actual official speed limit? Because I think if it's not posted, what is it? Is that mean it's 55? It means it's 55. Well, if you actually, if people think that people are speeding on Niagara Road, you should call the sheriff, actually calling the wrong people.
Starting point is 00:11:16 The road department is who you need to call Steve Lambert or Colton Milton. They're the ones that have to report to the county to change conditions. Well, what has happened then as you've tried to, apparently you're looking for some kind of enforcement or some change, I guess, here? Did that be fair, Harry? At least a break, it's also open range. People forgot about that. Open range is about halfway from 234 to White City,
Starting point is 00:11:51 all the way to White City, up Nick Young, up Lynn Road. That's all open range. And so if you, you know, My neighbor had a horse get out the other day on Mn Road, and headed towards Agat Road, and a trucker was coming. So all he did was blow his horn and just kept going 65 miles an hour. So the bottom line here is that your problem with Agat Road is at what? Two-lane road, right? Just one lane on each side, each direction?
Starting point is 00:12:28 Right. Right. Nothing particular special. It's a rural road, that kind of thing. It does have the S-curve section there on it. It's also used for people who don't want to weigh their trucks, so it's turned into more of a truck road, even though it's probably not officially a truck road.
Starting point is 00:12:47 And people drive insanely fast on it, is your complaint, right? Right. And if you go, if the people live up in Shady Cove, View Falls, and you come down, you don't go down to 62. You just come down over to Aga Road and use that road. Well, even people that live on Lenn Road, they come down. They don't go to $1.52. You can see them all the time.
Starting point is 00:13:08 All right. Every morning. So what has happened then is you raise your concerns as a resident in there by the S-curves? Because you said that, I think you were telling me the other day that you've pulled numerous trucks and vehicles, you know, out of the, you know, out of the mess that they get into sometimes, right? Well, that's what these reports I have in front of me don't say. I pulled three cars out of my on Linn Road, one out of Linn Road that jumped my fence and brand new fence and ran through it. They don't talk about the accident we just had on the S curve where the guy got hit. Not about the one at the Mountain View, not about the truck that got stuck the other day down at the end of 234 trying to come on and got fell in the ditch,
Starting point is 00:13:52 which he shouldn't have been on this road. They're oblivious to what is actually going on out here. What has the response been as you've tried to raise issues with Jackson County Roads Department? Okay, so that's a good issue. If I talk to the road division, they'll say, well, pass the information to the sheriff. If you talk to the sheriff's division, they don't want to write tickets on Agate Road. Why? Because it's the one laid road.
Starting point is 00:14:22 They say it's too narrow. Okay, well, well, is it too narrow to... pull over on the side then, I guess, is what they were talking about, right? And safely write a ticket? Right. And there's no shoulder. So the only place you would have like where Isolos are or just past the S-turn or down towards White City. But in the past, I changed the striping on Agate Road. I had them change it because the skip lines were intersections and that you couldn't, if you tried to turn, people will pass you while you're trying to turn down here at Nick Young, over here on the road.
Starting point is 00:15:14 Yeah, we don't want to get too much in the weeds on this one here, Harry. It sounds to me that you're saying that the road is not enforced, and your complaint then is that there's not really any enforcement of any speed. restrictions. Everybody driving on Aged Road knows it, right? Truckers know that nobody's going to touch anybody there. And so it's a bit of road anarchy. Is that kind of the, you know, the bottom line here? And you would like that change somehow? Well, yeah, that's basically you summed it up. If we had at least posted, you know, again, these reports, they don't talk about the cow that got hit the other day, a guy going 85, he did.
Starting point is 00:15:58 get cited and admit it to it. They didn't talk about the bail wagon. They got ruined it. Nobody else on the road. It destroyed. Yeah. You know, these things are just out of hand, and so we have to find some way, because they're going to put the roundabout in.
Starting point is 00:16:13 And I talk to the state, they don't care what happens. They don't care that there's going to be a bigger flow on Agate Road. All right. Now, my question is, what do you think it should be posted at, if you don't, because we assume it's 55, but they just ignore that and do. 6575. I get that. I see a lot of that, too, on a foothill road going into Jackson County in Medford, too. Same sort of thing. I mean, huge speeding until they get to the S curves. And then they slow down maybe to 60. I think they slow down to 60 at the S curve. But it's certainly a problem. What would you like to see the county get involved in? What would you do? What would you think ought to be done? I think that at least the open range area, they should be marked better. people don't realize it's open range. I think that there should be a speed reduction in those
Starting point is 00:17:03 areas and posted. What do you think, like 45 miles an hour like 62 is, that kind of thing? Well, yeah, if you get 45, you know, they're going to go 55 at least. Yeah. You know, but, you know, that's how we started. First, we started, it's supposed to be 55 because if people were supposed to know it, then we go to 65, now it's just whatever. And that, and I have talked emailed Steve Lambert about what is the speed limit. And basically his response, it was basically you can do what you want. I did talk to Colton, and he says, well, people should know it's going, they should go 55. Obviously, if this is a social experiment, it's a failure.
Starting point is 00:17:46 Because there's get more accidents every day. Yeah. And if you live on Agat Road, if you're going to turn into your driveway, you have to turn your single on like 400 feet ahead, and then it's still on your tail. Yeah, otherwise they're going to stuff the guy behind you is going to stuff his vehicle up your tailpipe. Yeah, I get that. I get that. All right.
Starting point is 00:18:10 So, Harry, have you brought this to the county commission? Just curious. Oh, yeah. I've gone to Rick. Have you actually testified out on and gone in, and, you know, they have that public comment section of the meeting? No, I haven't done that yet. I have had an intention to go do that. I haven't done that yet.
Starting point is 00:18:33 I have just emailed them and express their concerns. This is really a political issue. I mean, if you talk to the sheriff of accounting, they send them information to the sheriff. Neither one's communicating back and forth. No one knows what's going on. But no, I need to do that. Yeah, I would highly suggest this because it's fine to talk about it here, and I'm glad to give you a little bit of love on something like this.
Starting point is 00:19:00 But if you think there's a real issue of public and county concern with a safety issue, you know, testify there in front of the county and then see if we can maybe get that ball rolling a little bit for some, for some better control of what's happening on Agon Road. If it is the way you sound, the way it sounds there, it could be, it needs a little bit of touching it on. I get that. Yeah. Well, my intentions were first I was going to do, a petition for the people on Aga Road
Starting point is 00:19:31 and have them sign it and then go to the county and say, look, you know, this is where we're at. That's how we feel. That's a good idea. I think that's a very good idea. It really is. Okay?
Starting point is 00:19:44 Yeah. Yeah, get that and put on your activist hat, Harry. And I wish you the best of this and anything we do to help you to get a little bit more control of our local traffic is a good thing. All right. Okay.
Starting point is 00:19:55 All right. Hey, I appreciate the call, Harry. Thank you. And keep me in the room. Stay in touch and tell me what happens. But yeah, definitely just raise your issue. And I think if you petition the county, they'd probably be open to maybe doing something more on this. Okay. Thank you. Thank you very much. Harry Snyder once again, meaglet point. And he's calling about agate road trouble is what he's checking in on. It's 733 at KABD, 993 KBXG. And this is the Bill Meyer show. By the way, another trash. report of what is going on. 199, see to be getting quite a bit of snow. It's snowing heavily in O'Brien, too. So as you get closer to the Collier tunnels, the rain is turning into definitely some snow above that 2,0,2,500 snow-foot level.
Starting point is 00:20:41 140, very heavy snow happening up there. Still not seeing much happening on the Siskus at this point in time. It's 733. Over the last 40 years, a lot of very beautiful homes. You're here in the Bill Myers Show on 1063, MED. Keith's and Cave Junction, Keith, from what I understand, you've got some fluffy rain getting to heavier snow right now, but welcome the Monday.
Starting point is 00:21:04 What's on your mind, huh? East side of the valley, good morning. East side of the valley, two inches. We're at 1,540 feet. Regarding Agate Road. You being a trucker probably have gone up and down there a few times in your life, right? Regard, and I'm probably going to piss off somebody that drives a commercial. commercial truck. I don't use
Starting point is 00:21:28 234. I don't use Agate because it's a length-restricted sets of road. Regardless of the speeders, regardless of 234, you cannot be over 60 feet. Log trucks can use 234. Log trucks can utilize Agat Road, I suppose,
Starting point is 00:21:50 in the past in a historic issue. The signage is The signage is not very good. God, I've almost got in trouble. The signage is not good. Okay, I kind of got what you were getting at. I had my finger on the dump button. Thank you for restraining yourself. But at Highway 62, it states length restriction. But by the time a driver sees it, he's committed. It's always, always, always a problem. So you believe that Harry's point, then he's bringing up again, poor signage, poor speed controls, poor everything. You think he's right on about that from your experience?
Starting point is 00:22:33 Oh, he is. He is. And law enforcement, yeah, those roads are tight. But there's also a bigger issue regarding the quality of drivers out there in the world across the board. everybody is I don't remember anybody 40 years ago when I was an idiot
Starting point is 00:22:59 driving a hot rod driving everything like idiots I mean so there is that issue too and it doesn't just completely stay with Agat Road
Starting point is 00:23:12 but what do you do if you don't have a lot of law enforcement and the Cajonis to enforce. People are going to have to be responsible for themselves, and you know the answer to that right now, they're not. Yeah. I appreciate the take on it, yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:35 There's no signage on 34 about length restriction in Goldsville. Agate, you cannot have a truck over 60 feet past Avenue. Yeah, and that's because of the S curves, right? You're not going to be able to make it through that. But there's no signage. But even then, and I know the way the driver thinks, he is going to try and avoid the scales on Table Rock Road. But if he's on Avenue G, you can blow by it and go straight up to 62.
Starting point is 00:24:12 What would you say if we were just to ban trucks there except for local traffic? How about that? On that stretcher road? Yeah. Local delivery. Yeah, local delivery only, that kind of restriction. I have a problem because historically, the log trucks used to get into the mill area that probably doesn't exist like it used to anymore. Yeah, probably not.
Starting point is 00:24:38 All right. Hey, Keith, I appreciate that. And thanks for sharing some thoughts from the professional driver's side of that. And stay out of the snow, okay? Let me grab one more here before news. and then State Rep. Dwayne Yonker is going to join me. I'm looking forward to talking with him about the latest hilarious news coverage in Josephine County. Anyway, hi, good morning. Who's this? Welcome.
Starting point is 00:24:57 This is my new Dave. Hi, Dave. What's going on with you today? Go ahead. I was just going to let you know. I had a Honda, CRV 1999 given to me. Oh, that is so wondering. Who gave it to you? A friend of mine that doesn't have a license I drive around. And he figured he helped me wear my truck guide, so he got me a car. Yeah, well, you know, the CRV is probably going to serve you just fine up there.
Starting point is 00:25:24 It's a good, reliable vehicle, too, really is. Yeah, and I wanted to say, is anybody ever forgotten the rule called Organs Operations a Basic Rule? The Basic Speed Rule, yeah. Yeah. If you're in a residential area, it's like 25 or 30. right except those rural areas where harry and others are being pestered by traffic trouble it's not the same and that's always been restricted to 45 that i remember always from the sounds of it it should be now thanks for the good news there minor day by the way do you have any snow up in your neighborhood
Starting point is 00:26:05 just curious not not yet okay yeah it's still dry over on the syskew summit too or dry of snow i guess but Josephine County, Highway 140, we're starting to see more reports of heavy snow in the higher hills. Okay? Yeah. All right. Thanks, Dave. 741. State Rep.
Starting point is 00:26:21 Dwayne Yonker joins me next. George Straves, Ocean Front property in 1987. Parkway Village and Grants Pass on North Pacific Highway in Medford and now in South Medford on Riverside and Central near where the two come by. Hi, I'm Matt Stone, owner of Stone Heating and Air, and I'm on 106.3, KMED. 744. State Rep. Dwayne Yonker standing by here. You want to the way in on that Agat Road issue there.
Starting point is 00:26:43 Your wife works around one of the wineries there you were saying. You're kind of concerned? Go ahead. Yeah, you know, we live in Eagle Point, and she works part-time at one of the T.C. rooms out there. So if you're coming in from White City on Agat-Rite, right, where the S-C curves, it's Bayer, family states. Right, he's right at the top of the S-c curves there. So, you know, and I've been out there, too.
Starting point is 00:27:06 You know, I've seen some people come through those turns really fast. So if you don't negotiate that term just right and somebody's coming the other way, it could really, really be dangerous. You know, the other thing I would say is, you know, you've got the wealthiest people in the valley that live out off Agat Road on those, you know, out, you know, out, you know, out, you know, in those. Yeah, the Jim Belushi's of the world. Right. That kind of thing. Right. Yeah. You know, if you get those people, you know, kind of behind it, you know, maybe, you know, kind of something would happen. I'll just add this. I feel like. wherever you go now. I mean, my sister, I think I might have told you this long time ago. My sister lives in Los Angeles. I'm from there, but I haven't lived there in decades, but my sister still lives there. And she says driving in L.A. anywhere in the valley, anywhere is dangerous because people are out of him. They run red lights. They run stop signs.
Starting point is 00:27:57 They're going inordinately fast. And there's just, there's not enough law enforcement, you know, to catch them. And, you know, the roundabouts is one way. But, you know, I just think we're headed to a society where we just have cameras everywhere. I mean, eventually, you know, I'm not for at all. Yeah, but you couldn't tax yourself high enough to get enough. You couldn't get enough patrol out there in rural Jackson and Josephine, really. Yeah. All right.
Starting point is 00:28:23 Hey, Dave, appreciate the opinion, really do. Carol Ann's here. Carol Ann Snow Report. Give me the latest on what's happening out of the Apple Gate. Go ahead. I live up on top of Humbug Creek Road, and it's about 2,800 feet. Yep. And it's snowing.
Starting point is 00:28:38 All right. sticking. So, and I wanted to say something that might, I don't want to be off topic. So if you, I'd like to say something about Mr. Maldani, but I can wait if you'd like and call back. You know, if you could give me a call back a little later? Could you do that? All right? I certainly will. Thank you very much. In a little while. All righty. State Representative Dwayne Yunker, he was on my mind this morning. Same with State Senator, State Senator Robertson also. After I was reading the Josephine County, the Grants Pass Daily Courier the other day over the weekend, and a fascinating story that seems to be designed, well, with a political bent, in my opinion.
Starting point is 00:29:21 State Rep. Younger, great to have you back on. And we're talking about this idea that apparently you and Noel Robinson, you're not bringing home the bacon. Oh, my goodness. Isn't this fascinating? Timing. The timing of it all. Yeah. We knew it was coming. They reached out. to us last Tuesday, and you could tell by the questioning, which is nothing new, you know, Noah Robinson and myself both said that we, you know, how we operate, we're not, we're not going to, we don't promise things, you know, we submit things, but we're, we're not going to sell ourselves out, compromise our values. We won't do that. And, you know, we think that our county and, you know, city here deserves things, but we won't take bad votes to get things.
Starting point is 00:30:11 And, you know, we don't work on bribes. But, you know, I have a problem with the United Strategy Consulting, Greg Limhouse. He's the one that promised the city he would get them money. They didn't talk about that at all. You know, he came up. He's a lobbyist for the city, and he told me, hey, just to me, this stuff and we'll get improved. It looked like he deflected his duties and blamed us.
Starting point is 00:30:41 You know, it's a hit piece. You, well, the point being on this one is everybody knows how this game is played, and you have done a lot of social media posting on this, and I've had a chuckle in which I think a famous one that you reposted the other weekend had to do with, you have the Democrats, I think this is like Governor Kotech, represented as the donkey with a fishing pole and holding out dollars on the end of the fishing poll, and then all the Republican reps underneath there, and then the other fence going, ha, ha, ha, ha, you know, going for it. And essentially, our Republican caucus ends up being bought and cooperates with the Democrats
Starting point is 00:31:23 just in order to get a few bucks sent home. Isn't that the way the game works right now these days? Oh, it works. That's exactly. I mean, I got told my first session, this was, last year was my second session there, that because of my comments on the floor of calling out bad, you know, bad policy and corruption, that I wasn't going to get a piece of the cookie. That was from another Republican that I lost, you know, and I'm like, well, that's exactly what my post was about is, you know, you must behave until a certain line or you will not get a piece of the cookie or the little pie. And I'm not going to do that. I represent a county that's struggling. We have the highest unemployment rate. We're just, we're being strangled by the state. And all are going to
Starting point is 00:32:08 being struggled. Yeah. And then the idea is that is that you should be selling your vote off for, you know, part of a water plant or whatever the case might be some kind of crumb of funding coming from there. And everybody talks about, oh, well, even here, see how the news reports so positively on, you know, state representative, Pam Marsh, as an example, facilitates the funding for this or the other, and it's all political payoff is what it is. It just is, Dwayne, and it gets a little bit irritating, but, you know, most of the people get up going, oh, well, that's just wonderful, you know, it's just wonderful because of our state rep. Is the job to represent your people and take good, honest, principled votes, or is it just to do whatever the Democrats
Starting point is 00:32:54 wants you to do, so you get some bucks sent home? Yeah, and I would agree, told it that what you just said is what we all complained about before. I ever got into politics or anything is like, well, yeah, look, you know, they're a sellout. They're getting, you know, a few bucks to shut the people up instead of staying hard things, I'm pointing to the corruption in the state, the bad policies, our bad education. Why don't you stop taxes so much if you have extra money to hand out? You know, that would be my thing.
Starting point is 00:33:27 And again, we can look at the city of Grants Pass and why didn't they work on the fire station? It's like 60 years old. You know what? Instead, they wanted to put money towards a pool and then that didn't go through. It's their priorities, the city council's priority. I mean, they have a budget. The people here put them in the office. And they picked priorities instead of like to pay $1.2 million for homeless.
Starting point is 00:33:58 They could have put $1.2 million towards the fire station. But that wasn't their priority. And I'm not saying one is better, but that's their priorities. Well, this is the corruption. I think this is just the way that we, the people, are corrupted in our expectations, that somehow, well, look at even what happens in the city of Medford. You know about that we've been talking about this nonsense crap of the way the downtown Main Street was designed and they end up putting in the road diet and here's the
Starting point is 00:34:28 the balusters and you know all these things that you know so that way we can have the bicycle bumways and the buffered bike lanes I mean all this kind of crap which is all about traffic calming it's all from state agendas and a past city council of course fell for the bait hey we'll help you pave your road and then you just have to leave it this way for a long time but oh but you have to do it in the road diety way It corrupts our local councils, too, the way that it works because they end up doing things, not because the people want it, but because there's some money. There's a bribe attached with it.
Starting point is 00:35:06 And then we wonder why we get all this stuff that nobody votes for, Dwayne. It just makes my teeth hurt, okay? Yeah, it makes my head hurt because I thought I would go up here in Salem and fight for the truth and for good policies, and instead you get criticizing for not going along with what the rest of people you always do. You know what I'm saying? Get along to get along. You get a little money, bring it back, and, oh, you're such a good representative because you brought a million dollars, which a million dollars is nothing, really. If you look at the big scheme of how much money spent, it's money, but, you know, oh, Central Point got $200,000.
Starting point is 00:35:51 Yeah, that's nice. did you have to do to get that? There's always a string. There is always a string attached to this money, this grant stream funding, and the Democrats are the ones in charge of handing it out. That's just the way it is. But apparently the Daily Courier is much more concerned that the Democrats get a chance to hand out their money rather than actually having representatives casting honest moral votes on issues of state policy and concern. I guess that's what they're looking for. They're not doing articles of how bad our education is. the corruption, are we spending too much on Medicaid, as people taking advantage of that system?
Starting point is 00:36:29 Or, hey, maybe we have some daycare like Minnesota here that are, I don't know. Hey, maybe we have some leering centers. Remember how they had the leering center over Minnesota? The leering center. I actually bought a sweatshirt and it has that on there. I'm going to start wearing one hundred fraud. Because that's what I thought people put me in office, is to find the fraud and the abuse by our government or our tax dollars. send it back to the people.
Starting point is 00:36:54 Yeah. You know? Well, God bless like you and Noah Robertson, you're very, you're a rarity right now, a voice of conscience in the state legislature. And if you're a voice of conscience, apparently, you're not going to get all the grant stream funding. I guess that's the price you pay for that, huh? Being honest.
Starting point is 00:37:15 You either get a crooked one or, you know, a Republican that's going to be, you know, putting their back behind Tobias Reed, or you get someone's principal and says, no, this is not how conservativeism, this is not how our founding fathers ever envisioned this ever working. And that's what I look at, is that founding fathers never have vision being sold off like this for money. Well, it is human nature once you get that money. But, of course, you know, state of Oregon's running out of money to hand out, isn't it? Really right now?
Starting point is 00:37:47 Yes. They are, you know, we're looking probably maybe up to a billion dollars in cut. You know, and well, guess what? That sounds like a spending problem. That is a spending problem. And we've done this to ourselves. COVID was the worst case of just spending, just purposely not, you know, it's like someone won the lottery, just spending money constantly because it's not theirs.
Starting point is 00:38:15 And that's what the state of Oregon does. We have one of the highest budgets from any other state that has the same population-wide. So, you know, when we look at those things, why are we spending so much money and why are businesses leaving the state of Oregon? Why does Southern Oregon have such a high unemployment rate, the governor and the Democrats? Your policies are hurting the people. I think that, and I'm hoping that even you used to be on the Grants Pass City Council, too, I would add. So you've had experience on both sides of this. I think that, you know, all of our city councils are going to have to start focusing on, and our counties too, we have gotten used to the idea that there is free money available to do nice things.
Starting point is 00:39:03 I think what we're going to have to buckle down to in the coming years here, especially as we see the grant stream funding reduced from the federal government because the federal government is just borrowing into existence, just laying it on as. more debt on the people. You're going to have to concentrate on what is needed, on what is truly needed, rather than nice things. Nice things are going to have to be paid for through a different type of mechanisms other than taxing and or grant stream funding. That's the way I kind of look at it, but maybe I'm wrong. Yeah, and I've always agreed. I'm not saying that this fire station doesn't need to be fixed. It does. It isn't bad, but it's been priorities. It has always been about priorities. And the same in Medford. You're guys talking about baseball and all. I mean, I'm not really hip on what everything happens in Medford. We've got our own problems over here, but it's priorities.
Starting point is 00:39:53 What is most important? You know, actually in Grants Pass, they need the water treatment is a big priority. They're trying to get it fixed. Yeah, water treatment, that's a big deal, all right? You know, that's an existential, that's an existential threat. The caveman pool, nice thing. Don't get me wrong, okay, you know, but it's not a problem, but it shouldn't be a priority. Exactly. That was the prior city council, mayor. They wanted to work in the pool. Obviously, I took a vote and killed that when I left, but that was their priority.
Starting point is 00:40:24 That was instead of the fire station for their four years in office, it was never about the fire station. It was always about the pool or some of these nice things. What kind of the diving board and the splash pad area? I'm like, well, how about the fire station? How about the police? You know, it's all about priorities in every city, every county has to make parties. And Josephine County is used to making cuts. We're like the cut kings of, you know, our budget here.
Starting point is 00:40:51 All right. State Representative Dwayne Yunker, I just appreciate that. And you still have the right enemies in Josephine County, okay, from the sounds of it, from my point of view, at least. And I know I know I'm a big target. I know, and I know the Stacey Abram type of people. that are over on the other side of the political aisle. I'm sure they'd like to pull out a long political knife on your behalf.
Starting point is 00:41:16 Oh, yeah, I'm sure I have a big dark board inside the Democrat office or something. Yeah, I'm sure. I'm sure they do. But keep it up there. Tell the truth out there of what's going on. Thanks, Dwayne. Good time having you on. You're welcome anytime, okay? Be well.
Starting point is 00:41:29 Okay, thanks, Bill. Thank you so much. State Representative, Dwayne Yonker. It is 759. KMED, KMED, H.E., Eagle Point, Medford, KPXG grants, past where you are. When it comes to buying or selling a house, you don't take advice from
