The Bill Meyers Show is on. News Talk 1063 KMED.
By the way, I'll get back to your calls here in the in the next few minutes. Just give me a few minutes.
Okay, we'll do that. I know pebbling your shoe Tuesday, you're always hot to kind of get rid of
that cortisol and relax a little bit here. What are the talk with some locally owned businesses
here? We always want to keep you in touch with them and that is Open for Business. This time
around sponsored by Network in Action. Lisa McCleese Kelly, you in touch with him. And that is Open for Business. And this time around, sponsored by Network in Action,
Lisa McCleese Kelly, Network in Action is back.
Lisa, it's always good to see you.
How you doing?
And what's up with the crew this week here?
And Network in Action, of course, you know,
it's more than, well, why don't you just explain
rather than me trying to finesse it.
Why don't you?
Well, we're a bunch of small business owners
and business professionals that get together
once a month for our meeting.
We have other opportunities to get together,
but once a month is mandatory,
where we have a different agenda every month.
We help educate them personally, professionally,
and help them grow their business.
Okay, how do they get in touch with you
and what's the advantage of being part of this group
as contrasted with all sorts of other
You know various members and chambers and all the other kind of right, right?
Well, this is a lot of masterminding and networking. So we're helping you grow deeper relationships faster
I'll give you a little bit of a success story for one of our members
So this particular member needed a bookkeeper and he couldn't use the one in his group because of a conflict of interest, so I set him up with another one in the group.
There was a part of his business where he was not only not making money, but he was
losing money.
She helped him figure that out.
He then needed another connection to help him in that part of his business that I found
for him.
Just the swing between what he was losing and what he's going to be making would pay
for his membership for the next 50 years
So we have that now he's connecting with another member in his group to do something together
That'll pay for his membership for another 20 years. All right. So what I'm seeing here, it's almost like chain
Assistance network of sorts in in in more than just leads I guess oh so much more
It's it's relationships and your business,
you can transform your business depending on the connections
and the relationships that you've made.
All right.
So you brought in a couple more members this morning
and let's talk with Tanya first.
Tanya, and I'm gonna, I don't wanna butcher
your last name again.
It helped me out on that one.
Andrea.
Andrea, Andrea.
And you were with Andrea waterscapes.
I'm intrigued by this because this reminds me of something my dad did back when I was
a kid in which he built a, we had a cistern in our house in Ohio and he built this, this
whole pump out of the, out of the well that he makes, puts all sorts of rocks and trees
and things like that together.
He just did that naturally.
You know, that's just my dad.
Well, people love to connect with water. Yeah, something right inside of us were made of like
60% water. So that connection is really important. And that's what I do is build natural style
waterfalls, streams, ponds, and landscaping to go with it in the backyard. I'm really looking to
build you a personal sanctuary, a place that you can just get at
peace and reconnect with yourself and nature.
This is this place you're going to come out there, you're going to go very zen if you
want.
Yes.
You ever put gongs out for people?
Yes.
As a matter of fact, we made one out of an old oxygen tank, kind of a bell.
Oh, yeah, that would work actually.
What made you get into this?
I'm just kind of curious.
Oh gosh. I saw an ad in a magazine 27 years ago and I went to a hands-on training.
And when I did it, I just...touching the earth and the rocks is just part of me.
And I said, man, I need to do this. And it's been something I've been pursuing ever since.
Isn't there something about the life and the culture today in which we're all trying to,
you know, in the midst of our houses and our offices and our commutes and everything else, it's like,
everything we're building now is trying to almost recreate that natural feel in some ways.
We're missing something out there in the world.
Yeah. Like I said, I really like to build a space that is your personal sanctuary that can ground
you, bring you back in touch with nature in your own yard, your own little space.
But in addition, it's also problem solving, right?
If you have an unused corner of your backyard or you need to make it fireproof for your
insurance.
I mean, there's a lot of problems.
So there's a practical side of that.
There absolutely is, as well as the function.
Yeah.
How has a Network in Action helped you out?
Oh my gosh.
It's been so amazing.
It's great to be in a room full of people
that are other business owners or professionals
that wanna elevate themselves.
And the relationships that we make,
it's like being able to refer a friend versus just,
oh, this is somebody I know.
Cause we really get to know each other on a deeper level.
And Lisa has us doing like great activities
that help us think outside the box and collaborate differently know each other on a deeper level. And Lisa has us doing like great activities that help us think outside the box
and collaborate differently with each other. So it's been been
really fun to be part of.
I'm gonna have to put my wife in touch with you because we have a
backyard which is like nothing but weeds. And maybe we should
just I know this year, have they have there ever been more weeds
and grass than than than this spring?
Is it just me?
You know, I'm glad that you bring it up.
Because when you talk about your yard full of weeds, I mean, that's so much of the internal
benefit that I get when I take something that is nothing and then make it into something
incredibly beautiful.
Yeah.
I mean, there's really something nice about that.
In the weeds, sun, rain, sun, rain, and that's made my pasture grow pretty tall too.
But there's something in that Zen, it's that feeling of disorder, right?
I just kind of want to put it back.
I don't want it all like a Zen garden, but I just don't want it to be just like looking
like I let my hair go crazy and didn't cut it forever, you know?
True, true.
I mean, there's a place for highly manicured
or a little looser natural.
My style tends to be a Pacific Northwest
kind of more natural.
Yeah, I was tired of thinking of a flame thrower
with Roundup, but you're probably not gonna help me
with that, okay?
No, I'm just kidding, Ron, just having fun.
But how do people get a hold of you though?
We can be reached at 541-664-4511 or the website is www.andriettawaterscapes.com.
Tonya, thanks so much. Great talking with you. Have fun with it. You've got to forgive me. I
can't help it. Someone else I'm going to have fun with because, man, I'll bet his lines have been
going crazy. That's Royall Stanley. Well, you're the president and CEO of Oregon Pacific Financial
Advisors. We've been talking to you often on over years. So, are people going, all right,
Royal, is it the end of the world or something else?
You know, it's interesting we talked to so many different people from different backgrounds. I
think everybody has a different perspective on what's going on economically right now. Some
are not worried at all. Others are terrified of everything in their own shadow.
It's like everyone seems to be almost diametrically opposed, would you agree?
Yeah, and you know what's interesting is our longtime clients are like, I'm not
worried at all. I've seen it go up, I've seen it go down, you've coached me on
this, I'm not worried, you've got it." Which is really what we're looking for with our clients is get them to
that point where they're not concerned about the little short-term fluctuations we see
in the market, but more of their long-term planning goals that they're trying to achieve.
A one day or a one week or even a one month market turn back is not something that...
Not at all. Not at all, because on average
we're seeing a 15% decline in the market every single year and that's really what we saw
this year. We saw the NASDAQ go down about 20% but the S&P was down about 16-17%. That's
a normal every year occurrence. Yeah. What's your type of client over at Oregon Pacific
Financial Advisors? What you know is there is there, are you like, what do they call, well qualified?
Or what does that mean?
You know, there's definite definitions and tiers.
You know, we've got seven different advisors,
all with a different specialty there.
So we've got a whole myriad of clients held there,
anywhere from people just starting off to retirees,
to business owners.
So we talk to a whole lot of different people there.
You know, and each of us have a different specialty
that we bring to the table and then collaborate
as an office on our clients as issues come up in their lives.
So it's really quite the cross section.
For me personally, I'm working a lot with business owners,
helping them plan their exit strategies,
how to really take that business that they're growing,
do the things that they wanna do in their lives
for themselves and their families and their employees,
and then move on to whatever that next phase of life is.
All right, well, how can people get ahold of you?
Yeah, absolutely.
You can visit our website at opfa.com
or give us a call at 541-772-1116.
Securities and advisory services are offered
through United Planner's financial services.
All right, but you see, that's the other thing.
Anytime you talk to someone financial,
there always has to be the disclaimer.
Boy, they can come down hard on people, don't they?
Final question, though, I had for you, Royal,
is network in action. How's it working for you?
It's been great. I think we've been in there
three years now. Three and a half for you? It's been great. I think we've been in there three years now.
Three and a half.
Three and a half, okay.
And we've built up some great professional relationships.
It's helped our business.
We've brought on new clients across the board.
So it really is a fantastic network
that we have here that Lisa's put together.
I'm glad to hear that.
Roy, great seeing you as always.
Good seeing you too.
Tanya, always great talking to you. And Lisa, you know how the pattern goes. We're going to
have you wrap this up where people can get in touch with you and you can join the group too.
And I want to be clear that network in action is that in the various groups, there's always one,
there's only one of a particular type of business in each one of them. You're not going to have
like two stock people as an example in one or two farmers in one, right? They break it up. So one person per professional classification
in each group. And how do they get a hold of you?
SONetworking.com. And I just want to quickly say that Royale is my financial advisor. Okay.
And Tanya is taking care of all my fire breaks at my house because you have to have a five-foot
fire break anywhere near anything in your house. If you're on that wildfire map, you
need to call her. All right. Good. Good talking with you. And
thank you for being here on Open for Business.
