My birthday is next week, so I'm taking a little bit of a birthday trip out to the coast and we're going to sit and look at the ocean and maybe eat some good pub food or, you know, do something like that, have a beer or two and just blow the stink off us. So we haven't got anywhere for a while. Haven't done that. And so that'll be this weekend and I'll be back Wednesday for Wheels Up Wednesday, all rested and relaxed and hopefully ready to hit it all again, you know, that kind of thing. So as far as our national stories right now, We're getting more Fauci fallout, that is for sure. Rand Paul handing over evidence to New Florida criminal investigation.

And it's revealing that Democrats in the Senate never reviewed the evidence. Because remember, they ended up, Republicans ended up giving them a code, a code to be able to go and look at all the Fauci evidence of the crimes he is alleged to have committed, that sort of thing. well now it appears that the states, at least maybe some of the red states, and it's too bad that it has to be the red states because you would think that the blue states would also want to hold Anthony Fauci accountable if there's anything. But it looks like at least one red state is already picking up the gauntlet and ready to do something about possibly investigating Fauci. because the pardon is only, it is only for federal crimes. Doesn't count for the states.

States can still go after them. NBC has a report the other day, and it is true, and I know that Daily Brief is saying that one should never take anonymous leaks at face value, but NBC is reporting that Trump is exploding in exasperation at AIDS during a meeting focused on the Iran war. The White House denies the reports, and the independent then saying the source told NBC that Trump had erupted during a meeting with his top national security team last week and even yelled expletives at those present.

White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt has denied that the incident took place, however, telling NBC this is false. The president has a great team whom he trusts and everyone in the team knows he's the final decision maker. Levitt subsequently telling the independent that the president, is not going to stand by as they break the memorandum of understanding, kill our soldiers, and fire at our ships in the strait. Okay.

I'm going to read between the lines there. Yeah, the yelling and the screaming happened. And frankly, I wouldn't blame the president. I would imagine he would have to be very frustrated by this time. And things have not really gone the way I think that President Trump would like to have happen. I know that fellow named Mish Shedlock, who is a big financial blogger in the United States, a pretty famous website there, mishtalk.com. He had a post out there that what might be making President Trump a little angrier at this point

and with a little more emphasis on getting things wrapped up and getting some kind of closure over in Iran, is that the Strategic Petroleum Reserve has now been drained down to the lowest levels since 1980. And I have no doubt that that has been keeping prices of fuels suppressed, and even the price of oil on the open market suppressed to a certain extent. But we went from about 21 days of United States consumption of oil stored in the caverns. It stored in a series of salt caverns, from what I understand. I'd almost like to find out more about where these strategic reserves really are.

but we've gone from just under 21 days of use. It's a better way of evaluating it. How many days of total United States consumption could you pump out of these caverns? So we started with about 21 days of oil in these caverns, and now it has gone down to just over two weeks. So we've lost about a week. We're down to about a third, two thirds of where it was. and it gets a little harder to pump as it gets more empty.

And I guess you can only take these caverns down so low. You can't pump them dry because if you pump them dry, it's kind of like if you stop an oil well. If you pump it dry, then the salt caverns could collapse and then they would be essentially useless. That's the way it's been understood with me. I'll see if I can get some people involved. I know that fracking guy that I talked to a few weeks ago

seemed to have a pretty good handle on a lot of that. When I get back from vacation, I'll see if we can get on that. So if President Trump's yelling, it's probably for that reason. All right? All right. 7705633-770 KMED. Local news here, wow, absolutely wild. At the most recent report, they're still looking for this guy in Grants Pass.

36-year-old Anthony Teal is kind of like a one-man crime spree. He's accused of what, strangling and menacing someone yesterday. day morning, 730s when the call first went in in Josephine County. And then about 8 o'clock, the report came in that he carjacked a guy. And the guy who was pulled out of the car ended up hanging onto the car. And they're doing this wild, this wild ride in Grants Pass. And then Teal driving this guy's car strikes another car, backs up. Finally, the original driver lets go.

He was treated. They don't really know how, they didn't talk about how badly he was hurt. or not, but he made it, of course. And then there was a wild chase on Grants Pass Parkway, and Josephine County Sheriff ended up backing off because it got too dangerous. One of those sort of things. And they finally found the crash

car at Leonard Road and Willow Lane. They're still looking for Anthony Teal. Bald guys, 170 to 200 pounds as a beard, bald head, green eyes. And whatever you do, do not go to that guy because he has sort of proved himself to be violent. Just call 911, all right?

to get the pictures out there on the social media. And we also had a guy who robbed the key bank on Barnett Road yesterday. Got away on a scooter. Yeah. White guy, medium-billed, light-colored hair, 30 to 45 years. He was wearing a Taco Bell hat. Had a surgical mask on and a Taco Bill mask. And they're still looking for him.

Always happy to see what's on your mind. What do you say? Well, you know, this bouchy business in Back East is a great theater, but I think it's distracting from not having the whole COVID debacle up front and center and disgust.

Like, for instance, supposedly Pfizer had 1,200 people die during their limited trial, and that should have stopped the vaccination program cold. We have morticians across the globe saying they're getting these fibrous white clots throughout. By the way, not just around here. In fact, there's even a, gosh, there was a mortician here in southern Oregon. who had reached out, you know, back during that day and talked about those rubbery, white, fibrous clots that were being found in bodies? Yes. Founded in grants fast. And we have other clinicians saying how cancer rate quadrupled and doubled again and so forth. We have all these, but they're still at the status of hearsay and rumor. So it's interesting.

So in other words, you're saying that in some ways Fauci is the limited hangout of the federal government. Is that kind of where you're going with this? Yeah. Well, it's distracting from these larger questions of how dangerous this vaccination really was. And I keep hearing different facts and figures. We have Dowd from Black Rock coming out and talking about how all the numbers of that, all the deaths or most of them, came from the vaccination itself, not from COVID. And, but it's not being discussed or presented in the mainstream news, if you will.

And so, Fauci just seems like, you know, just as side issue of distraction, but the main... Well, he's the sacrificial lamb. In other words, if you're able to get his head on a pike in people's minds, I think, then everybody else can go to sleep. I think that's a little bit of what we could be witnessing right now. This is, this is the permissible, all right, you know, give him his two minutes of hate and maybe the states will prosecute him, et cetera, et cetera. But you know what I mentioned yesterday, Tom, I think still holds. We have to remember that it wasn't just Fauci. There were a whole lot of henchmen that were helping Fauci along. Of course. Yeah, and that's just it. And it's almost like, okay, we,

destroy Fauci in some ways and then, you know, the people from big pharma, nobody's going to touch that, nobody's going to talk about vaccine liabilities, no one is going to do that. No one's going to go after the state health authorities that got all tyrannical, you know, going all Stalinesque on the people. No one's going to go. Yeah, no one's going to go after the Oregon Pharmacy Board for, you know, making it that you couldn't get any kind of alternative treatment. No one's doing that. See, this is what you're talking about.

This is the symbolic two minutes of hate target that we're looking at right now. It was way bigger than him. There's so much accountability is due, and just to put it all on Pouchy is a sick joke in my mind. We have, like locally here, we have the county officials pushing everybody to go out and get this deadly shot. Actually, no, the county commissioners did not. Not the county commissioners, but it was allowed in this county. The chief health officer is out there pushing everyone to go get the shot. Oh, I know.

Yeah. Well, you know why. Remember when we talked about the structure of county government here in the state of Oregon? Most of the counties are agents of the state. So when Oregon Health Authority makes a decision counties being agents of the state with their local health. departments, which are agents of the state. In other words, they're ruled by the agents of the state. That's where that comes. It's that top-down management. It's kind of like how we don't have local schools any longer. We have essentially Oregon State schools controlled at that agency

of the state level. So you're getting out? That's one of the big discoveries that people found out during this is that you don't have to go out and get every medical doctor going along. You just go to the head of these organizations, AMA and so forth, and you get them, and it's a top-down control system. The other thing that's really disturbing about this is we have our local news, flat out telling us lies. Hospitals are full of the unvaccinated. This is outrageous what they did, and there's no accountability. And trying to bring Fauci up as like the bad dog of the whole situation. It's just, it's outrageous.

Well, I will concede your point here. It's almost as if, well, this was theater, and of course I even called it political theater, you know, the other day. And you can't call it anything but political theater. Everybody knew how it was going to turn out once he started doing the, you know, taking the fifth. And by the way, I'm not saying that the Republicans that were coming up there and asking tough questions like Rand Paul, Senator Rand Paul. I'm not saying that they didn't have the best of. intentions. But they also know that they cannot legally punish him either because of the pardon. Right? They get that. So the best that they can do as senators is to essentially embarrass him and

tarnish his legacy. But this morning, though, hearing that we have Florida that is now going to open an investigation, state crimes were not pardoned by President Biden. See what I'm getting at here? that might be the angle they were really talking about when it comes to. Yeah, it's certainly the auto pin, you know, excuse and so forth and so on. And that remains, it's going to be, you know, it's being thrown out there to work out. But again, it's more theater. And we're not getting to the real accountability of how this, I want to, I want a concrete proof and disclosure of how deadly these damn vaccinations were. because it seems like everybody I know somebody that took the shot and dropped the dead in the tracks.

You know, but you also realized now that this has become a completely political issue now. And the Democrats completely lined up, other than Federman who apologized and not questioning more. He did say that. I think he was the only one that kind of partially fell on his sword a little bit here. but it has become a total tribal response, which is very sad because, as you well know, science is a method. You know, it's a process here. And what the whole trouble, science has become politicized. Oh, yeah.

Well, we were actually living under scientism. It was a state religion. Just like climate. Exactly. And medical. So it's like science has been thrown out the window and replaced by the, at the religion of scientism.

But you have, I mean, I don't know if it's going to take, it's really going to take the Democrats to be able to let go of that grip on that religious fervor about that.

And unfortunately, I don't know what's going to, what's going to do that because it's very difficult to convince people. And by the way, I'd say this for Republicans, too, this is a bipartisan

or no matter what your outlook is, it is very difficult to convince people that they were fooled and fooled deeply about things. It's difficult to reverse that. You can understand, right, just as a human. Oh, absolutely. And to say, oh, hey, I was duped. And that's a tough one for people. I'm always looking to find out where I'm dup because I recognize, you know,

young man and so forth. I was duped many times about many things. and I have no trouble, but other people I've seen have a lot of trouble just admitting that, hey, they fooled me. I was duped. I did the wrong thing. I should have known better, but, you know, I was fooled. I believe them, et cetera, et cetera. Yeah.

Tom, I always appreciate the thoughtful conversation with you early this morning, okay? You'd be well. Thank you, Bill. All right. You're doing great. Thank you. Dr. Merrill Matthews joins me here in a couple of minutes. Can a Democratic socialist candidate truly take the oath of office?

This is an interesting question being raised by Dr. Merrill Matthews. Yeah. I talked to him a few weeks ago, kind of getting him back in the show rotation. Used to be over at the Institute for Policy Innovation, but he's now on his own in a different group. We'll talk with him about that. You know how Ron from Grants Pass, listener Ron from Grants Pass is always talking about, you know, the oath of office, the oath of office, the oath of office, the oath of office. And I say, well, the problem with the oath of office, it's not self-enforcing. But maybe Matthews is looking at taking on this oath of office and saying, hey, listen, you're talking.

Everything about being a Democratic socialist is you eliminate the Senate, you eliminate the presidency, you eliminate private property, you eliminate, in other words, you're just going against the Constitution. In Grants Pass, they know the name of its wanted carjacking suspect, 36-year-old Anthony Teal. His alleged crime spree started just before 7.30 Thursday morning calls of a domestic disturbance at a home on Northeast Meyer Drive. Officers then went looking to arrest Teal for strangulation and menacing. Around 8 o'clock, the report came in that Teal carjacked a motorist and pulled the guy out of his car, who then proceeded to hang on as Teal sped down Northeast D Street. Teal struck another motorist, backed up still dragging the original driver who finally let go. A Joe County Sheriff's deputy spotted Teal on the Grants Pass Parkway and gave chase, backing off once he'd got too dangerous for the public. Officers finally found the crashed car at Leonard Road and Willow Lane.

They're still looking for Anthony Teal described as a white male, 5'8, between 170, 200 pounds. Bald head, green eyes and a beard. If you spot him, don't approach him. Just call 911. Medford Police report a man robbed the key band. bank on Barnett Road yesterday afternoon and escaped on a scooter. He's described as a white man, medium build, light-colored hair, 30 to 45 years old. He was wearing a hat with a Taco Bell logo on it. Medford Police asked if you've seen this guy call 776 7206. And the Trump administration denies two of Oregon Governor Kotech's requests for firefighting money grants. Oregon Live reports FEMA approved three of the state's emergency requests for the lower dry creek, a walk of Butte, and grasshopper fires.

They turned down emergency money for our East Evans Creek fire and the Roe fires in eastern Oregon. Bill Meyer, KMED News. I'm Jerry Willis, and this is the Fox Business Report. Dr. Merrill Matthews is the Texas state chair of our Republican legacy. And gosh, you know, there's nothing better than having like Junior Brown being the bumper music going into you. Is Junior Brown from Texas?

I think he sure sounds like he's from Texas, isn't he? If he is and he should be. I don't know the answer to that. Okay, all right. Well, I'll look it up. Junior Brown's a national treasure as far as I'm concerned with this little get steel guitar. Anyway, Dr. Meryl Matthews is the Texas State Chair of Our Republican Legacy. Before we get to your latest piece here, Dr. Matthews, by the way, it's great having you back on.

And what is our Republican legacy and what is this all about? Is this kind of like about what happens after all the smoke clears at some point or what? You know, it's an organization that was started by former Senator John Danforth, about a year and a half ago. It has a number of co-founders, including Mike Pence and people your listeners would know of, who've been sort of longtime traditional Republicans who just believe in free markets, free trade, adhering to the Constitution, peace through strength, sort of a standard, long-time conservative slash Republican agenda. And the concern is the Republican Party's veered away from that in some ways,

and we'd like to see him get back to that. Okay. Is traditional republicanism, in your view, hostile to what would be called, you know, MAGA or mega America, a great kind of populist approach? Or, you know, where would that come in there? Because I know that former Vice President Mike Panson, President Trump, don't seem to be on much of speaking terms at this time. That's right. And, you know, Ronald Reagan and that approach would sort of be the our Republican legacy standard. But, yeah, I think it would be hostile to some aspects of it. President Trump passed the one big, beautiful bill. There's a couple things in there I disagree with, but generally, you know, lower taxes is good.

But I tell you, Republicans have long stood for fiscal responsibility, trying to get reduced deficit, cut government spending. We're not doing any of that. Republicans haven't been very good at that for a long time. I don't think anyone in Washington, D.C. seems to be truly, and I mean truly interested in turning back any kind of spending because I haven't seen any action toward that. And this is not a really good point because, I mean, Republicans have long campaigned on this. When they're in power, they often don't do it. You could make the case. I would make the case. But the difference between Republicans and Democrats on big spending and big government is Republicans claim to feel bad about it. they go ahead and vote for it. But at least they would say we want to try to turn it back, and we don't even see much of that these days. Well, I guess we're all socialist now.

Well, speaking of which, I want to talk about your latest piece, which is in the Hill right now, and you raise what I think is a very thought-provoking question, because the Democratic socialists, and I just prefer to call them communist because I think really, in essence, they are a socialist communist. They're certainly an is, but Democrat is not really it. I think you just take out the Democrat, and I think you'd be more accurate about it. But this is where the energy is in the Democratic Party right now. Absolutely no doubt about this one. And they're gaining, and there may be only 100,000 members of the party or so, but this is a really, really serious challenge to the existing order. Now, the Democrat closed, socialists, changed by the

120,000 members, but the Hill just released a survey yesterday from, I think it was CNN, where they found that one in three Democrats identify as a Democratic socialist, which is a much bigger number than we've normally heard. The point that you were raising in here is can a Democratic socialist candidate truthfully take the oath of office? And I raised my eyes up thinking like, huh, yeah, if you ever, if you actually pay attention to the oath and actually read it. I don't know. Give me your take on that, please. Right. Well, the thing that the Democratic Socialists have been moving further left, and they recently adopted a new platform, which does things like they want to eliminate the Senate,

they want to make the president, and the Supreme Court, they want to take away the current way that we put those in power and then put them underneath Congress and you, the House, because they're eliminating the Senate. And I looked at that and I thought, you know, you just, the first three articles of the Constitution have to do with how you, you know, the how Congress is elected, it powers what it's supposed to do, then the second Article 2, how the president's elected, his powers, what happens there, Article 3, Supreme Court, how it becomes. And you can't, if if you're a Democratic socialist who's just sort of along the lines, if I think we need to get more welfare out there, maybe we want to control or eliminate ice, something like that, then maybe

you could do that. But for many of these people, they want to fundamentally change the governing structure of the United States, not just to have more democratic socialists, but fundamentally change how the government is run, and that is anti to the Constitution. So the question is, can you, if you're elected to be a member of Congress, can you take the oath that you will support and defend the Constitution, which is the key part of the oath? It would appear that there's no way that they could actually swear to that. But as I've talked to other people about it, the challenge with swearing an oath to the Constitution is that it's not exactly self-enforcing if you get my drift here, right? That's actually right. You have Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who's a DSA member.

You have Rashida Salib, who is a DSA member. And then you have – I don't know if Bernie Sanders is a formal member. And this is one of the questions that comes up because the Democratic Socialists of America, they endorsed lots of candidates who are aligned with them but aren't necessarily members. And then, of course, they've changed their platform. I said they've gotten much stronger and more left. And so can you be, I mean, you can be a Democrat or Republican and not support everything that Democrats or Republicans as a party support. So, but they have a, they claim an awful lot of members.

And some of them are, are actual members who are adhering to the platform. And so I don't think, I don't think a person who runs as a Democratic socialist and is elected as that could, could truthfully take the oath of office. since your goal would be to fundamentally change the way the country govern. But in fairness, when you look at what's been going on in Congress over the last 40 or 50 years of our lives here, maybe even going back farther than that here, Dr. Matthews, the effort has always been to fundamentally change the United States of America, and it has been moving more in that direction. And I would dare say the Democratic Socialists of America haven't moved left. I think that they've already been hard left, but all they did was fib about it or lie about it.

And they would use, you know, soothing words kind of like, well, you know, long term we would like to eliminate the police. And, you know, long term, we think that everyone should be, you know, a granted citizenship here, even if they're here illegally. Long term. They always talk about it as a long-term plan, that kind of thing. And that's right. And then you can make the case that a number of things they want to do. may not be compatible with the 10th Amendment of the Constitution, which says if it's not specifically outlined in the Constitution, that power goes to the states of the people.

And you can make amendments to the Constitution. All that's up for grabs. So when Bernie Sanders wants to do Medicare for All, which is a government-run health care system, could you do that under our Constitution? Well, I'm not, I'd be doubtful, but probably you could. But some of the things where you're fundamentally changing how the government is structured, how people get, take office, and so forth, that's key to what we do. And so that's why I think if I think virtually every DSA person who is elected,

and there may be several of them after this coming election, they'll take the oath of office. They'll just have their fingers crossed behind their back because they're saying, I support and defend the Constitution, but they really don't. What they want to do is fundamentally change the Constitution. and something that's different than just an occasional amendment that we've done. Yeah, I agree. Dr. Merrill Matthews is with me once again. He's the Texas state chair of our Republican legacy. Doctor, it's a great piece.

I'm going to, of course, send everybody to take a look at that on the hill. What is going on in Texas right now? Because, you know, here out in Oregon, we know that we're in a rough situation. You know, if you're of a conservative bent or more of a right-wing thing, it's been a tough state. It's been a tough state for us for a long, long time. And, of course, demographics have not been particularly helpful here. And people are starting to rearrange where they are. They've been voting with their feet.

We're standing here and fighting, you know, is what we're doing here in southern Oregon for sure. What is happening in Texas with this? Because I've heard about, you know, a lot of business going to Texas, all that sort of thing. But I also hear that the demographic shifts are not real positive for conservatism long-term if you continue to have the third world. Even if many have been sent back, so to speak, many have just set up shop permanently in the state of Texas, and that it may not be as healthy as some might think from the outside. It's what I've been reading a bit.

It's a good point. Texas has been drawing a lot of businesses, especially North Texas, but we've become one of the destination areas for the country, from people who want to leave New York, want to leave California and some of the other blue states. On the other hand, if you look at what's happening in the Senate race here with James Tolarico, the Democrat versus Ken Paxton, the Republican,

and Texas Republicans decided to go with Ken Paxton rather than John Cornyn, a very conservative guy, these more traditional establishment. And he was not friendly with, he and President Trump didn't see eye to eye, a lot of things, right? That's really what happened. There was some disagreement, but Cornyn was willing to, he could read the tea leave, so he was willing to support Trump on almost everything, including running an op-ed before Trump endorsed Paxton, suggesting getting rid of the Senate filibuster, which I don't think

Corner really believed, but I think he was trying to placate Trump and some Texas voters, voters. But we had a new poll out this week that has Calarico at 45% and packed it at 40%. Whoa. And I've said for some time, Texas is very red, so you can, if you're betting on it, you probably want to bet that Ken Paxton wins. Yeah, I know, but Cornyn would have won that race easily. Absolutely. Absolutely. Wouldn't it even been an issue. And Calerico's drawn something like four or five times the amount of money that

tax and ask for the state. And one of the things that came out just a couple of days ago, and this was by a Republican who is a head of a construction committee builders in Houston, and he said, we're seeing Latino votes and African-American votes shifting over to Democrats. And if Republicans aren't careful, they will end up losing this election at the Senate level. And that seemed like the possibility to me for a while. And if that happens, it will be a huge earthquake if James Calerico gets elected over Ken Paxton. Now, Ken Paxton, I had not, I'm really apologizing that I'm catching up with you on this rather than having studied it deeply. Like maybe the national hosts are always in on the national stuff.

I tend to look at more what's going on out here in Oregon. But Paxton supposedly with a cloud of scandal and the Republicans move forward with that. What actually happened to your knowledge here? Well, he's been one step ahead of the law for years. And a few years ago, he came to, because we were looking at this thinking, well, is he ended up going to be indicted and the Attorney General of Texas having to go to court again? But he made an agreement with the federal government. If I remember right, he was he had to be.

pay $300,000, had to do like the 100 hours of community service. Yeah, what was he accused of, or what did he cop to, I guess? In the early days, it was acting as a stock broker and advising people on funds when he wasn't registered to do that. And then some other issues came up, and then, of course, we had the impeachment trial where the House here impeached him, but the Senate didn't confirm it. His wife is a state senator here. And I know, and, I know. Angela, she's just, I've always really appreciated Angela Paxton, but she ended up filing for divorce on what she called biblical grounds because of the affairs that have emerged in Ken Paxton's life. And the problem that I have is this is, as Ken reaches out to evangelical Christians and evangelical Christians back him very strongly here in Texas. And I think, you know, the, you could have a very conservative candidate in John Corrin, when without.

all the baggage. And the votes between John Cornyn and Ken Patson and Washington would have been, if there had been any, I'd be surprised that there had been any votes different. But right now, though, it appears that what's counting most in the second administration is loyalty to the second administration. And this is where this is that rift in the Republican Party right now. Absolutely. That is absolutely correct. So loyalty is the key factor, and that has led Trump to nominate a number of people who I would call were just not serious Kansas, like Christie Knoem for Department of Homeland Security, Matt Gates, to be the attorney general.

And, you know, here, the problem that I struggle with here in Texas, if you go to be a juror in Texas, you have to take an oath that you are of sound, of good moral character. And I look at the attorney general, and I said, you know, our attorney general can't do that. So it's a challenge we have here in Texas, and if Paxton ends up losing, it's going to be a real problem for Trump. And I know that President Trump has been struggling getting some legislation passed, especially like Save America Pact, or the Save America Act, you know that one, because he's needing the votes of someone like a corn in, and who's the other one that he primary? They're people that he made enemies of, you know, kicking them out, essentially.

primaring them and beating them in the primary, right? Yes, Tom Tillis of North Carolina is the other one. He's retiring. But then also he's been given Lisa McCausky of Alaska a hard time. There's Susan Collins. Mitch McConnell is on board with a number of these things. So there's really four or five Republicans who will not go with everything Trump wants to do, especially ending the filibuster.

And that's why John Thune, the same majority leader, keeps saying, I don't have the votes to pass the Save America Act, and I don't have the votes to end the Senate filibuster. And I'm glad he doesn't have the votes to end the Senate filibuster because that's, if Democrats take over the House this November, actually coming in January, which I think is a very good chance that happened, possibly take over the Senate. I think that's a bigger issue, but I mean, more iffy, but it's not impossible. Yeah, the House would probably be an easier lift for the Democrats. I hope they don't get that either. But between the two, the House is the easier one to probably take over right now, right? Yeah.

If you eliminate the filibuster, then you have a – and Democrats win the presidency in 2028. Again, I mean, that's not unlikely. In fact, because the way the voters tend to shift from one side to the other, we do a pendulum swing in American politics, If they go to a Democrat, you could, and they have a Democratic Senate in the House, they could do a lot of things. So ending the filibuster is, for me, the one way you stop bad legislation. And I go back to Calvin Cootich, you said it is better to stop bad legislation than it is to pass a good legislation. It's really interesting. I was wondering because I was kind of looking at the filibuster issue as, gosh, you know, if the Democrats were to take over, they would just instantly end.

And they would just end that rule, wouldn't they? I mean, they've already talked about openly ending it. So if the enemy has already said that we're going to take that knife and stab you with it, and might as well stab them back while you have a have the political power. Am I wrong about that, doctor, long term? Well, when you still had Joe Manchin and Kirsten Cinema from Arizona in the Senate, they were not going to do that, and so they couldn't do it. My guess is there are other Democratic senators who would not want to end the filibuster,

but they were able to sort of stay in the shadows as long as Joe Manchin and Christian Sinema said they would in the filibuster. Got it. Okay. That's my sense. And so, but there will be, if Democrats have the House Senate and the presidency, there will be a push to do it. And a number of Democratic senators who have in the past signed letters saying, do not in the filibuster, some will go over and do it. But I don't know that it would be a majority. Dr. Why is the Save America Act so controversial for some? What do you think? Well, because of different positions in there. The first part, the one that they sort of highlight the most is you need to have a photo ID to vote.

That gives like 80, 83% of the population. Then they go from there. You need to be able to show, prove that you're a citizen. That still gets about 60, 65%. But then when you start eliminating mail-in voting, when you do some other things at President Trump, and there's been two, three iterations of the Save America Act. When you get to some of those others, then you get a real pushback from, not from Democrats, but also from Republicans. And then the other question is, the Constitution puts the power to determine how elections are running with the states. Do you want to nationalize the election? Trump has called for nationalizing the election. Democrats looked at trying to do that when they were in power, and I would rather not us not nationalize the election. When you talk about elections fraud and stuff, there is some of it.

There's been no evidence that's been widespread. Well, out here in Oregon, though, we truly do have what I would term a faith-based election system. There's no chain of custody with mail in voting, and I think the criticism of that is quite valid. I think it is as well. Here's my point, though. If our Oregon messes up how it does its elections, it only affects Oregon. It doesn't affect Texas. it doesn't affect Florida. It doesn't affect Arizona. So a decentralized system, if you have a state that does things poorly, and we do have states that do things poorly, it doesn't affect all the other states.

And I like that. I expect them. So even though it sucks as far as being an Oregonian, rather, it only affects we Oregonians. Got it. Okay. I think I get that. And they're not going to vote Republican anyway.

That's true. That is very true. However, though, it also, I think, in my opinion, the way they work the election system makes it even more difficult for any Republican to win a statewide election here. Makes it a tough one. It's fascinating how often, you know, the count goes on and someone may be ahead. And then, you know, in the middle of the night, the numbers change. And, oh, we found more ballots, doctor. You know, that's kind of the way organ rolls.

It is a problem, and it is a problem that the states should be aggressing. And one of the things was happening, and I wrote something in Forbes years ago, the red state in your future. And I said, you're either going to move from your blue straight to a red state or you're going to get the people who are staying there are going to get so mad. They changed the system. I haven't seen much of the change yet, but a lot of people have been moving to red state. Dr. Barrell Matthews, Texas State Chair of Our Republican Legacy. What's your website there, doctor? State Representative Court Boyce is going to join me a little bit later. About 7.30 or so. He's been out on the water a lot here recently. Of course, great out there on the coast. And what he was going to talk about is I just wanted to kind of catch up with this Curry County Sheriff's scandal in which the sheriff there, and I guess the predecessor, too, there was this nonprofit organization, nonprofit foundation, nonprofit foundation, that would buy equipment for the sheriff's department out there.

And they didn't run it through the county. And I think that court could have a pretty interesting perspective on this because not only is he a current state representative, but he's a former Curry County Commissioner. And there was a lot of smoke and a lot of questions being raised over time, like, okay, where did you get the money to do this? And I guess the question now is going because the FBI is getting involved. in this one because some of the equipment was actually titled in the personal name of the sheriff.

So you're kind of like saying, all right, is this truly county equipment? If it's county equipment, what is it doing on the sheriff's property and in the sheriff's private, you know, in the name, you know, not in the name of Curry County. You can see how things start looking a little sketchy. And we'll talk a bit about that, too. This is the Bill Meyer show.
