I hope that doesn't depress you too much. But I want to go out. I'm going to go out to the coast a little bit and then be back on Wednesday. I have to tell you, you know, I was getting all signed up for Medicare and things like last week because I'm going to be 65. I'm going to be 65 on Wednesday. And last week especially, for some reason, I was just in a semi-grumpy, semi-fowl mood most of the time.

And I'm not normally that way. And I just realized that I was kind of depressed about turning 65. The age thing in my life has never meant anything. It didn't mean anything to me all this time. 16 or age you get the, you know, the drug. driver's license. Or 18. Okay, I'm technically an adult, you know, that kind of thing.

21, right to vote back at that time. Oh, no, wait a minute. Was it 18 when? Maybe it was. Well, it used to be 21, but I think it was 18. I don't know if I voted until 19 or 20. Come to think of it. I was just moving around too much.

And that was back when they actually paid attention to where you lived and how long you lived someplace before they gave you a vote. Yeah, even in California at that time, but I digress here. But yet, the age thing never really bug me. but I have to admit that for some reason, I guess, and I didn't realize why I was so grumpy. And even Linda was saying, Bill, I think you're depressed about turning 65. And I told her, yeah, I think you are.

I think I am, rather. I think you're right. And you know how much it hurt to tell Linda that I thought that she was right about it, but I hadn't really thought about it? That's what happens when you have a good kid in your life, you know? All right. Anyway, so we're going to blow off a little steam over the weekend. I'll talk to you on Wednesday morning.

All right. Now then, Logan sent me a video the other day from the Jackson County Commission. This was Wednesday. And you know, they had the public comment before it. And he sent me this public comment of a gentleman. I'm going to leave his name out of it. His name's not important at this point. But he went before the county commission, and you can do a comment period.

And this is when you can just address the county commission. It's not a conversation. You don't do a conversation back and forth, but you get his comment. And he was complaining about, he was looking to try to get a impound hearing because his car had been impounded. And apparently, in what he said earlier, it was like 48 hours. For 48 hours, they were trying to charge him $1,200. That sounds a little high. Something tells me there could be more to the story.

But I thought it was interesting. I got a little portion of his public comment. and I kind of feel sorry for the guy because I have a feeling there are a lot of people like him that find themselves attractive to law enforcement. But take a listen and tell me what you're thinking. I'll tell you what I'm thinking because it's my show, of course. But he started going on about, you know, why he was there.

I got the whole video on everything. But the point is I got numerous of the same office there escalating the stops. And I told him we're not escalating the stops. man call your sergeant whatever we're not doing this shit again and literally he escalated to stop while I was parked at the store took me to jail for a DUI put a no contact order on me and all of my kids again and I can't even make this up and then I had a forced blood draw at the hospital I was taking in jail I was booked and released within 30 minutes that's how intoxicated I was and then my

son was in a car he's 18 he told the police that I just got done cooking dinner, that we were on our way to the hospital because I had just had a little girl, and that I haven't smoked weed in like five, six hours. Oh, okay, haven't smoked weed in like five or six hours. Now, I know that the one thing I would almost tell the 18-year-old kids, shut up, you know, for one thing. And apparently, from what it sounds like, the way he intimated is that he's upset because an OSP officer ended up pulling him over.

in the city of Metford. And then the son, the 18-year-old kid says, well, dad smoked weed like five or six hours ago. I could just imagine the police officer. A police officer hearing that is just like saying, okay, possibly some impairment, because as you'll hear in the rest of the comment of why he ended up getting pulled over. But, yeah, five or six hours ago, smoking pot. Well, yeah, was it five or six hours or wasn't an hour? Was it a tube?

Who know? But anyway, let me continue. Five, six hours. And then I tell him I can't do it. Field sobriety back. My back has broken in five places. I have no curvature of the spine. So I can't walk a real straight line like that anyway.

I could walk, but I can't walk a straight line. So you end up having the kids saying, yeah, Dad smoked pot five, six hours ago. I am not going to do a field sobriety test because of, and of course, that sounds really bad. If he has a broken back or had a broken back, no curvature of the spine, et cetera, I'm feeling badly for this guy on one hand, right? But I could just see this is just kind of like dangling, isn't this dangling red meat in front of a state trooper? Straight line. So I meant it's just a whole hoax of charges again.

Hokes of charges. And that's because I filed a DPST complaint on highway patrol for operating inside the city limits as well, without an internal government agreement. Okay, I want to hear that part again. I want you to hear that part again. This is why he thinks he was pulled over. They came by. I clipped, somebody left a black trailer unhitched on the side of the road, and I clipped it on the side of my van, very clipped it coming around the corner. And they came out and gave me a ticket. hit and just, you know, told the dude, but it's unhitched trailer that it was okay, you know, which violates all your guys as rules, regulations, vehicle codes, city highway codes,

and they said that they get to enforce, they get to enforce the law on who they want to. Well, that's true. That absolutely is true. You know, he's right about that part about it. You know, this gentleman commenting before the Jackson County Commission. But there's a couple of things that, or absolutely wrong that he did bring up here.

And I have to make sure and correct this because I know people might watch that meeting and go, oh, so the OSP guy, they didn't have an agreement to do this. And I told Logan this too. There is absolutely no rule that requires the Oregon State Police to have permission from the city of Medford to run traffic in the city of Medford or any other city for that matter.

And I went and looked this up. Now, it used to be, and even then it was more about policy than it was actual law, but ORS810.410, which is the actual statutory authority for the OSP and for police in general. A police officer may arrest or issue a citation to a person for a traffic crime in any place within or outside the jurisdictional authority of the governmental unit. It means a cop from Tigard could pull you over and cite you in Portland, you know, that kind of thing. No service agreement needed. All right. Traffic crimes, traffic violations, et cetera, et cetera. And the point being is that for the Oregon State Police, their territory is the entire state.

So if you're thinking that, okay, I'm going to sit around here and grab ass on the highway or speed or whatever it is, and that state trooper can't do anything to me because I'm over on a city street. That's not the way it works. So it looks like we have this poor guy. probably on, probably on disability, I'm imagining. Broken back, can't, you know, having trouble maybe walking, can't walk the straight line. And, of course, even as the kid says, well, he was smoking pot five, six hours ago, clips a trailer, knocks his, you know, his mirror off on the car or whatever,

whatever vehicle there was that ended up being seized. OSP trooper in the city of Medford sees this guy, pulls him over, and from the sounds of it, even he said earlier, hey, I have videotapes of all my police encounters. My gut tells me that this guy is a bit of a, or has unfortunately made himself attractive to the police. Now, I don't know, maybe there's no insurance, maybe he's known not to have insurance. I don't know why the vehicle would have been seized and towed away in the first place. The fact, if it stays $1,200, that's something that you could maybe take up with the county commission. But there's all sorts of questions about this. And I feel sorry for the guy because I can see probably not a lot of money, probably on disability.

Maybe he doesn't have insurance. A lot of people driving around like that. But you clip the trailer, whether the trailer is supposed to be there or not allowed to be there, you've made yourself attractive. You have caught the attention of law enforcement and off you go. and also why would your car be towed away is what I was wondering because if you have an 18 year old in the back seat wouldn't that person just drive at home or once again maybe that person doesn't have a license not every 18 year old has a license these days maybe there's not insurance on the vehicle I don't know but um this whole thing that it's an illegal arrest because of uh you know it's OSP masquerading in fact let me let me just

continue the rest of this, because he kind of comments to this. Choose who they enforced the law. Okay. And I do have all the officers record it. Saying this, I record all their conversations. I record everything with the police officers. The way that your officer treated my son to continue treatment. And like, you know, I discussed it out.

When you take a person, kids so many times unlawfully, you take all of his cars, you extort him out of money. Eventually, he's going to mentally. snap unless somebody puts a stop to it. I've submitted plenty of evidence to you guys before where police have literally went out and arrested my mama illegally to make me plea out to 70 months. To make me plea out. Underneath federal law, 18 USC for Ms. Prison of a Felon, you guys all have a duty to report all this stuff that I haven't given you guys documentation for. not just me

you guys okay so he puts out a lot of information it sounds like there have been problems in his family his children he said children's been taken away from me and my

my vehicles have been impounded so it sounds like this is not the first time that this has been the rodeo and maybe it is a money issue I don't know I don't know what his personal situation is but the one thing I would say is that a public comment period before the county commission is not the proper venue to go with this. And as far as the, you know, he wanted a hearing on his impoundment, it's even right here on the,

on the Jackson County website that, let's see, vehicles, for impounded vehicles, you contact the Jackson County Sheriff's Criminal Records Division at 774-6800. And if you want to request a case review, I guess that's probably what he would have wanted. You contact property and evidence at 774-6832. You will need the Jackson County Sheriff's Office case number listed on your property receipt. Now, I have to admit that if it was two days at $1,200, you know, maybe the tow vehicle operator is doing something hinky. I'll bring up that word. Maybe that's something you bring up. but it seems to me that where you go, if you really want something to address it,

if you want the county commission to probably help, I would schedule an interview with a county commissioner by themselves. You can't do more than one because then it's a quorum and then kind of plea your case and maybe even ask about what you can do. And I feel sorry for this guy. I really do. But it sounds like that he has managed to make himself quite attractive to law enforcement.

And I'm thinking about my entire life of driving fast and all the rest of it. I mean, I've had maybe four encounters with a police officer in my entire life. And it sounds like he's always worried about trying to keep cameras around because he records every encounter, I guess. But I don't know. I just, I don't know what to believe on something like this. And yet it was sent to me under the guys of, well, you know how corrupt this county is, Bill. So there could be always some problems, but I see evidence of discretion. I see evidence of the fact that he's attracted problems upon himself.

And I don't think I'm getting the whole story, at least. But anyway, that's how I see it. I don't know if you have an opinion on this or not. 770 KMD. Let me go to first line. Hi, KMEDE, good morning. Yeah, there's some issues that were missed there. The OSP officer he was referring to, that was a different.

stop earlier. It was actually a Jackson County sheriff that was stopping him that specific time. And the reason that he stopped him is because he knew him and knew him to be, not have a valid license. And legally by law, an officer can't just pull you over because they know you. Oh, shut up. Shut up. If they know he doesn't have a license, they know he doesn't have a license. Come on, Logan. I'm just telling you, by law, the statute is that can't be a reason to pull somebody over. They actually have to violate the law before they can initiate a stop. I'm sorry, full stop.

You know? That's the law. Yeah, I'm sorry. If you, you have already seen someone who you know is unlicensed. If you know it, it looks like probable cause to me. I'm sorry. And that was part of the whole deal is he wouldn't, he comes up and identifies him, says his name and then he asks for ID, it's the runaround. And I'm telling you, Bill,

it's the law is the law. I know this for a fact. Okay. Well, go ahead. If the law is the law, then he can get, I'll tell you what, if the law is the law in this case, Logan, and you're the one that sent this to me, law is the law, he should have no problem getting a civil rights attorney to take his case. I would disagree. I would disagree. I have money to pay for an attorney, but no one will take the case. You think it's a milk? Could it be because it's a B.S. case? No. Well, I disagree with you wholeheartedly on that, Logan. So he's not licensed, and if he's not licensed, he has no insurance, his kids shooting his mouth off. You know, dad smoked pot six hours ago, not real smart. Now we know why it was towed away, don't we?

You aren't going to get an argument there, but all I'm, the point I'm making is, is this is law, This is state law that you cannot pull somebody over you. He would have had to run his ODL first, see that he's suspended, and then pull him over. You cannot initiate a traffic stop without them violating the law and or first running his ODL and verifying again that is suspended. Because the officer doesn't know. He could have got his license reinstated the day after. Okay. Well, I'll tell you what.

That's a very interesting legal theory. Maybe you're right about that, but I still call BS. I think it's a BS law if that's the case. Thanks for the call, Logan. But I think you're barking up the wrong tree in this particular case. I was really sympathetic for a lot of this guy. But if we already know that he's not licensed, you know he's not insured, should be nowhere near a vehicle.

You know that. His license was suspended unlawfully for not paying fines by Joe Charter. That was part of his statement that he said there. They unlawfully suspended his license. Like you said, he's a piece of red meat hanging there for law enforcement. He's done it to himself. But that doesn't mean that our local law enforcement, has to violate the law to get the red meat.

Okay. All right. Thanks for the call, Logan, but I still disagree with you. KMED., good morning. This is Minor Dave. I have to bite on this. Whether the guy is all these problems he's got, I don't know if they're legit.

The one way to find out is he calls the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Justice Department and follow an ADA complaint for violation of the Civil Rights. rights. If he's got a case, that's where he gets his attorney. Because in Medford, you're never going to get an attorney to sue the state police. You'd have to get an attorney from out of state. And if they don't see any money, you're not going to, you're not going to get an attorney. Point well taken. That's a good one. Well, so in other words, he needs to take it to a different venue and not go before the county commission and complain about it. Right. He needs to take it to court, and he needs to do it because he probably didn't have any money, probably can't find an attorney, right?

That would take the case because he can file a complaint with the Civil Rights Division. You can email for their address and file a complaint with them via email, and I've done this before. All right, Dave. Appreciate that. That sounds. That makes sense. KMED, good morning. Hi, who's this?

Hey, Bill, you there? Yeah, I'm here. Go ahead. I didn't hear the white noise. Hey, this is Kurt from Grant's Pass. Yeah, Kurt. I've got 19 years of law enforcement. All the cop needs is probable cause to initiate a traffic stop

and be able to articulate it later if need be. So this whole idea that you would have to have probable cause to... Well, of course, you know, when it comes right down to it, the accident, though, the accident would have been probable cause, wouldn't it? If the cop has knowledge of it. But if you're following a vehicle, you need probable cause to stop it. That probable cause could be prior knowledge, an infraction committed in front of you. Okay.

So prior knowledge, prior knowledge, would actually qualify. Okay. If I know a guy is unlicensed or his license is suspended or he's got a warrant, that's my probable cause. Okay. All right. Thank you for that. And I imagine, and I wonder if that's why maybe no attorney will take it.

rather than nobody wants to sue the state police. It's got enough. I don't think it's got anything to do with suing the state police. Oh, no, wait a minute. The case we're talking about is Jackson County. That's right. What Logan just said, the case he was referring was actually a Jackson County sheriff that pulled him over. Okay.

I don't think it matters. If an attorney's not going to take a case, he can't win. And if the law enforcement can articulate that they had probable cause to initiate the stop, what are you going to defend? Okay. Thanks for the call. Appreciate that. All right. Logan and I will just have to agree to disagree on this situation. But the more you find out, the less sympathetic it gets here. You know what it comes right down to it. But I just know, I just kind of figured there was probably more to the story than I thought. But even then, if a Jackson County Sheriff or Josephine County Sheriff knows that this person is a frequent flyer has caused problems had his license suspended, I don't know, I think you, you could probably articulate that

In Grants Pass, they know the name of its wanted carjacking suspect, 36-year-old Anthony Teal. His alleged crime spree started just before 730 Thursday morning, calls of a domestic disturbance at a home on Northeast Meyer Drive. Officers then went looking to arrest Teal for strangulation and menacing. Around 8 o'clock, the report came in that Teal carjacked a motorist and pulled the guy out of his car, who then proceeded to hang on as Teal sped down Northeast D Street. Teal struck another motorist, backed up still dragging the original driver who finally let go. A Joe County Sheriff's deputy spotted Teal on the Grants Pass Parkway and gave chase,

backing off once he'd got too dangerous for the public. Officers finally found the crashed car at Leonard Road. In Willow Lane, they're still looking for Anthony Teal, described as a white male, 5-foot-8 between 170, 200 pounds, bald head, green eyes, and a beard. If you spot him, don't approach him, just call 911. Medford Police report a man robbed the key bank on Barnett Road yesterday afternoon and escaped on a scooter. He's described as a white man, medium build, light-colored hair, 30 to 45 years old. He was wearing a hat with a Taco Bell logo on it.

Medford police ask if you've seen this guy, call 776 7706. And the Trump administration denies two of Oregon Governor Kotech's requests for firefighting money grants. Oregon Live reports FEMA approved three of the state's emergency requests for the lower dry creek, a walk of Butte, and grasshopper fires. It's interesting to watch big companies across the country commit suicide in PR things like, well, you know, there was the Pepsi situation with, remember the transgender guy, you know, that fellow or the, you know, the drag kind of story. That didn't, no, that was Bud Light.

That was Bud Light. I'm mixing. I'm sure Pepsi's probably done some suicide at some point. Cracker Barrel, the most recent one they talked about, the changing of the logo and what happens. Michael Levine joins me, and he's the author of Authentic PR. What is your day job besides, you know, writing this book here this morning, Michael. Welcome to the show. Well, thank you for sharing your valuable audience with me.

My day job for the last 43 years has always been. the same. I own and operate one of America's premier public relations firms called Boundless Media. Do you or are you the type of person in which someone pulls a Bud Light fiasco and they say, get Michael Levine on the phone? Are you one of those guys? Well, sometimes they try and sometimes I decline.

Because until people recognize the scope of their mistake, if people want to commit suicide, whether physically, emotionally, or vocationally or commercially, There's very little you can do to stop someone who wants to commit suicide. Oh. And that's tragic. There has been, over the last half decade, a slogan that has emerged, I think you're aware of it. It's very powerful, and it's also very true. The slogan is, get woke, go broke. And so what happens is that.

companies seem to feel that becoming virtue signaling social justice warriors is a path for greater commercial success when in fact, in every instance, it is proven an absolute disaster. Suicidal, as you indicate. So Bud Light was the greatest example. A loss of $35 billion. You take a great brand like Bud Light. You put a trans activist named Dylan McVaney on the can. And $35 billion goes away in a matter of a year or so.

And even in today's elevated values, $35 billion is real money, isn't it? Oh, my God. What a unbelievable loss. will probably go down in history as the greatest marketing mistake of all time. Now, who makes these mistakes? Very often companies hire these elite-educated people, awoke, and think that this is a strategy that can work. Now, it's been tried most recently with Cracker Barrel,

and that, of course, has also been a disaster. The CEO recently was fired. and should have been. And so people go to business, people, the business, when people go to Starbucks or people go to Cracker Barrel or people, they're not looking for a political lecture. When they buy a Bud Light, you're not looking for a lecture. Sure. From some radical person in, who's graduated from some elite university and has five pronouns.

I guess the point being here, Michael, is with Cracker Barrel as an example, they got rid of the old guy, they got rid of the barrel, and they kind of cleaned up, I guess, the logo. They modernized it. And I understand what they were trying to do. In some respects, they were concerned that the demographics of the restaurant were too old, right? They didn't see young people coming in. But was it because of the old guy in the Cracker Barrel, you know, on the logo? Was that what it was? Could you speak to that in your PR opinion? Sure. I sure can. When you want to build upon a new audience for an existing business, you don't destroy the existing business. You keep the core tenants of the existing business and look to find opportunities to build new audience segments. Yeah. You know, you don't come in, but radical thinking that is usually generated from elite universities is blow the place up. We see this in political life. Oh, yeah, we have to blow it up. We have to blow up cracker barrel to save.

Blow it all. Yeah. Blow it up to save it. We got to blow up bud light. We got to create. And these people, these elites, have deep contempt. real sincere contempt for the customer base that already exists. And people can feel contempt, and so they just turn away. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense here. Michael Levine's the author of

authentic PR. You hear that term a lot, though, in which people are looking for authenticity. But, you know, really what that means is that you're just being truthful to yourself in a way. Isn't that really what you're talking about and to your customer? Yeah, I think I wrote authentic PR because I felt it was. It was the right message at the right time. People can smell jive talk, phony jive talk. And so much of, there's so much distrust today in America as it relates consumerism. And so I think authentic PR is the new manifesto that will allow people, business owners,

or anyone who has to communicate a message to learn the path of being vulnerable, transparent, and authentic. And that's the path to victory. Yeah. You know, back on Cracker Barrel and the desire that they think they have to blow this up because the people that are in Cracker Barrel are too old, right? I think that's probably what was going on. And the point being, though, is that... It's actually beyond that.

It's not only too old. It's too old. It's too ugly. It's too racist. It's too white. It is a seething contempt. These elites have not a modest dislike, but they have a furious, ferocious anger. And again, they believe you've got to blow things up to save it. Mm-hmm. Well, it kind of reminds me of I can't tell you how many restaurants I've gone to in the past that have tried to do a remake. And they're not necessarily corporate chains or big chains. But, you know, it was something which was a nice family restaurant, let's say. And Cracker Barrel had that image, right? Nice family restaurant. And then we're going to play heavy metal music, right? Yeah, exactly. To get more young people. Yeah, and I like heavy metal music. Don't get me wrong. But I, but I don't know. I'm looking at this as a guy that is in the advertising world. I'm thinking, oh, wait a minute. You know, you're not going to attract, you know, the heavy metal crowd into here. And all you're going to do is just tee off the nice family folks that are here right now.

It's like never wanting the audience that they have and thinking they just have to blow out the audience that they have to have the audience that they want, I guess, rather than expanding the boat. Well, very well stated. Yeah. What are probably, if you had to say the most example or the biggest examples in the last year or two or maybe more of political campaign suicides in your view, you know, through bad PR or bad PR advice, do any come to mind, Michael? Just curious. Well, I think, you know, the entire last national political campaign involving. both Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will go down as one of the most disastrous political presentations I've ever seen. I mean, first, the audacity of the Democrats to think that they could run a man that was clearly in significant decline was something that I think that, I think, borders on.

insanity. And then Kamala Harris's immersion was a very, very unimpressive effort in which he blew through, I think, $2 billion in 107 days. The selection of Governor Walts turned out to be a disaster. So on every level, I think that last political campaign from the Democratic point of view was about as bad as it gets. Is it getting better now with the Democratic Socialists of America, you think, Michael? Oh, quite the opposite. It's getting way worse. I mean, I don't know how to say this more politely, but those people are crazy. They're just out of their mind. I mean, campaigning on no borders, no jails. I don't know what to say. And everything's free.

And everything's free. Okay. I don't know. There's a certain percentage that must be brain damage because one out of three Democrats and now saying they identify as Democratic Socialists now. One out of three. Yeah. Absolutely.

It will go down 25 years from now. books will be written about this absolute insanity. And I don't think it's going to play well in most parts of the country. Now, are there areas in America that are so decayed, so lost, that this free is for me logic will sell, perhaps. But as a lasting movement, I think communism has been tried, and it has failed everywhere miserably, and Americans know that.
