Starting point is 00:00:00 The Bill Myers Show podcast is sponsored by Klausur drilling. They've been leading the way in Southern Oregon well drilling for over 50 years. Find out more about them at Klausurrilling.com. So glad you were here. It's 14 minutes after 8. The conversation continues with State Representative Dwayne Yunker, who has been somewhat embattled with the, I guess the Equity Committee, right? The Equity Committee out there with that investigation going on after you had the temerity.
Starting point is 00:00:28 Well, the audacity. The audacity, Dwayne, to read porno school books on the floor of the state capital, the state legislature, and then why that created a hostile work environment to some snowflakes there, according to the equity community, a committee, rather. Welcome back to the show. It's good to have you on. How are you feeling? Thanks, Bill. Thanks, thanks for having me back. All right.
Starting point is 00:00:51 So last week, that report ended up being released here, and I found it interesting that this report, about you when you read the porno books. Well, was that the haters? The name of the book was the haters that was supposedly too filthy, too dirty, to just bad, bad, bad to read to your fellow state legislators. But it's still great that taxpayers are forced to pay for it so that it's in the school libraries, right? That was the point you were trying to make, pretty much, wasn't it? That was the point, yes, that we have. books and that we're paying for, that taxpayers are paying for, that are offensive and not
Starting point is 00:01:35 appropriate for children. And I want to get my point across. And the one way I thought of getting across was reading a paragraph out of the book to show how disgusting. And this book is, it should only be for adults. And that's where it started at. Okay. And then the reaction was sure, sharp, and swift.
Starting point is 00:02:00 A few days after that, then we ended up having the equity committee ends up opening up this investigation against you. And so the draft report came out. Has there been an actual final decision or does that have yet to be made by the legislature? What is the process here? Because I guess, you know, the snowflakes want to punish you essentially for bringing up the obvious that Oregon parents are being forced to pay for smutty books in school. And they're not supposed to have any say in this, right? That's our bottom line here, right? Really what we're talking about?
Starting point is 00:02:33 Yeah, so there's supposed to be the actual conduct committee, which is made up of the House Conduct Committee. It made up of two Republicans and two Democrats. Supposedly, they're supposed to meet within 21 days of possible. I have not been given a date that's happening yet. So we're over one weekend, so there's two more weeks to happen. And they would review the report and make a decision. that's what we're at today okay and you ended up getting a strange bedfellow a strange political bedfellow if you want to call that the other day because the oregonian not
Starting point is 00:03:10 exactly known as a supporter of yours the oregonian newspaper oregon live dot com actually came out with a bit of journalism in their editorial board they actually support they actually supported your free speech rights i was astounded given that uh it was a great article actually the They wrote a really great article. I would give them all the kudos I can. Yeah. And they stated what you and I, and I think other people
Starting point is 00:03:38 had to have common sense, have been stating for a long, long time. You may dislike Dwayne Younger's methods or the speech. You may not, you may be uncomfortable with what happened. But they made it clear. You were trying to make a point, didn't they?
Starting point is 00:03:50 It's really where they were coming down. This is political debate. This is political. They basically emphasize that the investigation, Ms. Roberts missed the fundamental understanding of what happens in the legislative body. I'm going to actually read the paragraph. Active legislation requires the lawmakers be able to represent their constituents, challenge each other's viewpoints through debate issues and consequences
Starting point is 00:04:16 that ensure the legislative considers a broad impact on Oregonians across the state, provided lawmakers are not inciting violence or malicious targeting individuals. They should be able to advocate for their constituents without fear of being accused of creating a hostile workplace. Exactly. Is this going to indicate that it's time to actually deep six so-called Rule 27? Because this is the rule that got you sideways in the first place. This is not a law, though.
Starting point is 00:04:44 This is a legislative rule, is it not? Yeah, this is a, let's say, rule. I've had some speaking with a few people that are agreeing upon that this needs to be changed. I've also heard that there's a few Democrats that understand this has gone too far. Good. And the whole thing has really gone too far. I had a post today, and it kind of breaks down what is happening in the Capitol with this whole legislative equity office and who the people are on the, you know, not just the committee, but are part of this whole group.
Starting point is 00:05:23 And they're all activists. It's actually funny. I took the actual page, and I put into AI, and I told me to give me a synopsis of what this is. And it's basically just an activist group. I mean, I can read, but they're all about. So the Equity Committee, the so-called Equity Committee, is just an activist group within the state legislature. Yeah, they're unappointed, you know, people that are on this group that make up these rules, advocate for whatever, and they're all, you know, activists, you know, they got a history of activists. they're nothing to do with, you know, anything more than activism.
Starting point is 00:06:00 You know, they're part of BIPOC and transgender whatever and radical justice in whatever groups. The whole committee is like, I mean, not the conduct committee, but the actual equity office. Are these the kind of people that would likely be complaining in Washington, D.C., about the Sydney Sweeney ad for the jeans ad, right? That it's white supremacy, you know, all of a sudden, right? Yeah, I mean, you look at the head lady, the actual lady of this office, and she is a human rights commission. She's been on, you know, enforcing anti-discriminatory law.
Starting point is 00:06:43 She worked with Vermont legislative agencies. She is public policy and equity and justice. I mean, it just goes on these people. Do these people get paid by the state of Oregon? Do taxpayers have to pay these people to be there? Yes, this lady right here, this, like, the officer, she makes what benefits, $329,000 a year. $329,000 for creating a hostile work environment investigation against you? Really?
Starting point is 00:07:12 What she means? Yeah. I mean, that's, there's only two people in the office, and then there's people within the building or part of this broader group. And her other sidekick, I would say, you know, is pretty much the same thing. It worked, her name, I'm not even saying, you can look at up school. She worked at the school of gender, race, and national conflict resolution in Portland State University. Okay, so this is a classic D. This is a classic B-S-D-I hire.
Starting point is 00:07:43 They all are. They all are. There is nobody on this group that is. a white conservative male. They're all, they're all justice warriors, and they've all been brainwashed that this is, wow, everybody should act. If you don't tow the line, you're the enemy, and we will go after you. Okay. Now, here's the next question then. Who decided that this woman gets $300, I'm assuming this woman gets $329,000 a year in total compensation when the governor only gets, what, 95? Something like that? Yeah. Yeah, well, every director or agency makes more than the governor, way more than the governor. I mean, they're all making $200,000 a year.
Starting point is 00:08:30 I mean, how does the governor get paid? Is it, you know, like Lomota donations or what? You start wondering sometimes. I'm sorry, that's ripping the scab off of an old story. Okay, I'm sorry. Yeah, that's another marijuana story. Some other places you've got money. Okay, all right.
Starting point is 00:08:46 Another time, Dwayne. All right. Another time, Dwayne. So it's good to see, though, that there's some honest liberal media in the state of Oregon with the editorial coming from the Oregonian saying, politics is not a safe space. That was it. It's supposed to be rough and tumble, and you're supposed to be able to be honest and, I guess, candid with one another and defending your points of view. That's what the legislature is for, right? That's where they were coming from. Yeah, that's what people, I think, people don't understand that. Like, you know, a couple weeks ago. go um there's a legislator down here that he's a gay man with his husband and there was a there was an rcc event and he texts me and i went over there and we you know part of this event and we talk and we get along but you know when it comes to political what we believe is just totally opposite but we could be cordial but more in that you know in the in the in the capital it is like a war you know i'm saying you're you're off you're defending your constituents in your area right
Starting point is 00:09:45 whatever else. I could still be cordial, and he'll ask me, hey, you guys want you to have a beer with me or something sometime? I mean, I don't hate the man. I hate his politics, you know? And that's the difference. And that's the difference here. That's a huge difference. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:59 Now, what happens then with this report? Is it something where the entire state legislature votes on what to do to you like they did when they screwed over Mike Neerman a few years ago or something different? If the conduct committee, it would be less like a bill. If it doesn't pass the conduct committee, it's dead. Oh, okay. If it does pass the conduct committee, what happens to it then? Then it will go to the House floor. Okay, and then everybody gets to vote.
Starting point is 00:10:29 Can they remove you from office for this? I doubt it. I don't think I'll go that way. Honestly, I would soon go to the Supreme Court. Okay, all right. Yeah, and as well you should. Okay, that's good. I'm just glad to know that there is some intellectually honest liberals still left in the state of Oregon.
Starting point is 00:10:47 There aren't many, especially not up there, but at least Oregonian is in on your side. My curiosity, though, Dwayne, is your own caucus supportive of what you're trying to do? Boy, you know, that was a pregnant pause there. That's a, you know, I don't want to throw people in the bus, but, you know, sometimes I wonder, but I would say when I got this Argonian article, I got it from someone I didn't think that would send it to me in his Republican. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. I didn't see it first. I think people are, but are they willing to stick their neck out like me? I would say no. Got it. You know what I'm saying? I understand. There is a few. few like that, but there is very, there is people that do not want to make waves. All right. And, you know, and I'm like, well, what else do I have? You know, I'm on the mind super minority.
Starting point is 00:11:53 What, you know, you keep talking about the Democrats in Texas. And I'm like, you do whatever you can, you know? Well, yeah, but there's a reason I keep bringing up the Democrats in Texas because I disagree with their politics, right? and they want to stop the redistribute. I agree with disagree, too. But it's just like. I hate their politics. But God bless him, they fight.
Starting point is 00:12:12 And so, you know, for their people. And the frustration that I think people are hearing in my voice is that I get the impression that with rare exception, there's a handful that might fight. But where's the fight in the GOP in the state of Oregon? Because you have the same power to stop Democrats from being able to conduct business. And there's no stomach for it. And how do you, how do you, how do you? I guess square that circle, you know?
Starting point is 00:12:40 I think there's legislators that, you know, I hate to speak for each one of them, but I just do in my own, you know, over the sky look that some of them still want to get things for their district. They don't want to be, they still want to be friends with people, and they don't want to burn bridges, and so they'll play nice. And so they'll roll over on their back and wet themselves, like I was mentioning. like a puppy, like a squared puppy, a scared puppy. Yeah. And I would say, well, again, politics is not nice. You know, you're going to get roughed up. If you're really into this for the people,
Starting point is 00:13:17 you're going to get roughed up. And if you're not willing to get roughed up, then we need to get somebody else in there. You know, and if you're going to be a really, if you want to do something with politics that's really, really, really nice or something, okay, join a church group or something like that. You could be the nicest Christian, you know, in the world, but this is Caesar's realm, you know? Do they forget that? I don't know. Yeah. I don't know what's nice didn't get us when Hitler was there and Mao, you know,
Starting point is 00:13:42 we can just go back in history, all these things that, how niceness is, you know, what does niceness get you in Russia? Yeah, I'm sure someone back then with Stalin was going like, you know, it's, you know, someone could have said something, but we didn't want to hurt Stalin's feelings, you know, and we needed to reach across the aisle. I'm sorry, being really sarcastic, but. I know you are. All right.
Starting point is 00:14:03 I'm with you have to time. Okay. Now, is there any chance? Because most of these Republicans in the caucus and beyond the caucus will be happy to run on. I want to keep taxes low and keep your expenses low. Why are the Republicans negotiating, in your view, to provide quorum for the special session to raise all the taxes on people in Oregon? What do you think is going on? Well, I don't think we have control of our caucus as a whole.
Starting point is 00:14:33 all right and that is is very hard you know what I'm saying we have a very split caucus we just talked about a second ago I mean there's a you know seven or eight like me and say
Starting point is 00:14:48 hell no I don't want to do this and then there's the few that say well it's my job to show up no it's your job to fight for your people and they obviously don't want to negotiate with us because they've never they're not asking us for anything they're just telling us
Starting point is 00:15:03 I mean, that's not a negotiation. But if the caucus were united, you could stop the tax hikes and make them force and force the Democrats to come to some other realization, like maybe audit, maybe even audit ODOT, right, and get to the bottom of why they can't fulfill their mission. Yeah, the Democrats know we're not united. I mean, we know where their weaklings are and when they know where our weaklings are. I mean, it's war, you know? you know, you're analyzing your enemy, and they know which Republicans that they could probably peel off. It's not hard. I've seen the governor before in the, you know, on the third floor
Starting point is 00:15:46 where I'm at, which is all Republicans in which offices she stops at. She's not stopping at my office. Uh-huh. You know? So she knows which ones are happy to roll over and wet themselves. Got it. Okay. You know, maybe if you could, could you put up a security camera there just so I could see which offices that Governor Kotech goes in there, just so we know, just so I can know. Oh, goes into this. I asked if I could put a security camera up in my office. I was told, no, I cannot do that. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:16:11 Well, hey, I'm just trying. I'm just trying, all right, Wayne. All right. I appreciate the update. Good luck on this situation. I think that there are even Democrats that are going to say this whole, you know, harassment or this, you know, what was it, a hostile workplace? The hospital work environment.
Starting point is 00:16:26 Yeah, just ridiculous. And hopefully common sense will prevail. you were welcome anytime, but continuing, continue being one of those guys that does not roll over on his back and wet himself in front of Democrats. Okay? Thank you, then.
Starting point is 00:16:40 I appreciate Bill. I'd ask everybody to come to my social media pages. I do have a competitor already for next year, so I will be needing donations because I'm going to have to run. All right. It signs and everything else. State Representative Dwayne Yonker.
Starting point is 00:16:56 Yeah, competitor that is probably going to say Dwayne is not bringing back money to the district, right? Is that probably what that person will say? Well, I saw it post you as a he-him on there, so we'll just leave it that. Oh, got it. All right, you don't need to say more. All right. Thanks, Dwayne.
Starting point is 00:17:16 You take care. All right, thank you. Goodbye. State rep, Dwayne Yonker. You hear these stories, and people wonder why I drink heavily on the weekends, even though I really don't, but I want to, I guess. uh jean is here hello jean how are you i'm fine and i'm not grumpy oh i am so glad you're grumpy i was concerned that since i couldn't talk to you last hour on pebble in your shoe

Starting point is 00:18:29 Well, I'd like to have her at 10.m., but 9 o'clock would even be good. All right. Okay, well, that might be something which is easier to do. I'll flip that. I've got to talk to the people involved because there are contracts and all that sort of stuff, but I will do my best, okay? I really will. Okay, and as for the Republicans that roll over, they're brown noses, so they're not really Republicans. All right. Appreciate the call. Thank you, Gene, and I'm glad you're not grumpy. All right. 770563. See, I don't have to call it Grumpy, Gene. If you're, if you're calling it, I'll get you on here. 770563. And this is Pebble in Your Shoe Tuesday on KMED.

That's why I'm talking about birds. All the stuff that they did starting with the first crop of peas. And I mean, it has just been constant. And yet they did some good things.
Starting point is 00:21:20 Talk about it with Roeb Gardner. Saturday's 10 to noon, Sunday morning encore at 9 on KMED, sponsored by Grange Co-op. We'll have a lot of fun. $20 gift certificate. About 15, 20 minutes.
Starting point is 00:21:41 We'll get that done. And you know, closer is wrapping up, wrapping up the show here. I got an email from Pacific Power, and they were inviting me. members of the media to come and check out their new wildfire safety program here, and I ended the forest feed peeing to them. And I know a lot of people have been asking how this works. And I'm hopefully going to get out there tomorrow after the show and take a look so I can tell you more about that on Conspiracy Theory Thursday because they've been doing a lot of those wildfire shutoffs the last few weeks here. And there's a good reason for it, of course, you know,
Starting point is 00:22:15 lawsuits, liability, all the other thing. But I'm kind of curious how they determined that. And so they invited me. So I just want to give you a heads up that's what's going on on the wildfire scene here. Brad's on. Hello, Brad. It's pebble in your shoe Tuesday. Morning. Bill, good morning.
Starting point is 00:22:33 Nor of many, many things. So, Bill, you know that this last weekend, Portland had one of the largest Christian events in the history of Oregon at the Motor Center. You know that it was the largest Christian event in the last 24 years. Oh, yeah. It's like 43,000 people that showed up there. And I think that there were, I don't know if you heard about the death count of Antifa heads exploding, you know, because you end up having Christians in Portland. And then, you know, their heads explode like, and then, you know, the blood is in the streets. It was horrible.
Starting point is 00:23:03 But anyway. Yeah. And the Oregonian, the Oregonian recorded that the headliner of the event was Jesus Christ. I mean, when was the last time that you saw a headline like that and the Oregonian? What? Well, you know, and then they put out a meditorial. saying not horrible things about Representative Yunker is something going on there? It's amazing.
Starting point is 00:23:27 But, Bill, out of all the things that you know, did you know that there is a Southern Oregon connection to PDX Crusade 2025 that just happened? Did you know that? No, I did not. Tell me, Brother Brad. There is. So the senior pastor of Athy Creek Fellowship, which was kind of the hub of the wheel that put that whole thing together, is Brett Meador. Now, Brett Meador, you may or may not know this,
Starting point is 00:23:52 but Brett Meador is the son of the legendary Todd Meador. And who is Todd Meador? Todd Meador used to run the Jackson County Building Department back in the 90s. It was an amazingly well-run department back then. It was Todd Meador, Pat DeBenedetti, and Dale Bowhanna, and those three guys ran, you could actually take your checkbook and a set of plans, and you could walk into that. out office and walk out with a building permit and a plan check in about two and a half hours
Starting point is 00:24:22 back in those days. Oh, I can't believe you. Everybody knows that it takes 10 years to get anything built. That couldn't be it. Back in the 90s, there was this amazing man named Todd Meador and Dale Bowen and Pat DeBan and Pat DeBennadetti, and you could literally take a set of plans in your checkbook and go down and, but anyway, anyway, so Brett Meador is the son of the. legendary Todd Metter, and he is the senior pastor at Athy Creek.
Starting point is 00:24:52 Yeah, you had mentioned that, Ben, and so I'm glad that we had that connection. That's great. Great to know. Yeah. Okay. Also, I wanted to mention something that Dwayne forgot to mention when he was talking to you about this whole thing about the wheels of power and the massinations going on in the legislature. The first thing is, is if you look it up.
Starting point is 00:25:17 lobbyists spent more money in the last session for fewer bills that got passed in the history of the Oregon legislature. In other words, there was more lobbyist money spent for fewer bills passed than has ever been recorded before. So there's something going on there. In other words, there's a lot of grace that is sliding through there for a few key bills, most likely. A lot of money got spent for a lot of things that didn't happen. And the other thing that's really important to realize is, especially when you and Dwayne were talking about this whole D.EI thing, is the people that are in the DEI movement know that they are in a rarefied environment and that they are in at-risk population because of the stand of our current administration on DEI stuff. And I'm telling you that there are these organizations and they are relabling their DEI stuff, trying to slide it under the the radar so that they can still financially operate, but they're going to be flirting with fraud.
Starting point is 00:26:22 And you watch the Trump administration, they're going to look into these things and people that are doing DEI stuff that would disqualify them from federal funding. I promise you, this isn't going to end well for them, and they've got three more years of this administration to work on this stuff. Well, from your lips there. Brad, thank you for the update this morning, also for the good news out of PDX for once, okay? let me grab another call hi good morning who's this hi this is gene i'm calling again because i forgot to tell you something okay uh i got a voicemail the other day it started off with a bunch of music
Starting point is 00:26:58 that was not really that good and then it ended up amazon is trying to get me to pay for a bill i've never used amazon i have nothing to do with amazon yeah why should i pay for a bill that i don't have. And if you hit and one, you can talk to a representative. Oh, I'll bet you can't. Boy, what a scam, Gene. You didn't fall for that, right? You didn't, you didn't do that, right? Oh, I hit the end button. Oh, good, good. Okay. All right, good. As long as you hit the, I'm glad, I'm glad, who, because. I'm not, but I wanted to warn everybody that they have got this voicemail going around and trying to get people to pay money for things they don't have don't uh yeah but so many people use amazon though they they they figure that they get enough marks enough dupes that are willing to
Starting point is 00:27:52 to hit that i'm glad you didn't fall for that all right thanks for the update jean and i will grab one more pebble in your shoe hi good morning who's this good morning this is Tracy from up in the washington state Tracy take it away a big you've got a big pebble in my shoe this morning and that has to do with the Oregon State Higher Education System. And I've been listening to Dr. Powers regarding the cutbacks at Southern Oregon. Right. I am actually a consumer of the system. I attended Portland State in the late 70s, early 80s, and also University of Oregon graduated from there. And that was back when we had a lot of state funding, and even then the system was hurting.
Starting point is 00:28:35 I think the problem is the model has changed for education. Kids now go to the first two years at a community college, and now the community colleges are issuing four-degree degrees in some cases, like Chamekata. You can get certain degree programs for a four-year degree out of a community college. You can get that here in Washington State. Now, my local Skagit Valley College will issue a four-year degree in certain fields. So the ground has shifted underneath the –
Starting point is 00:29:05 typical liberal arts college then what you're saying correct and what i would do uh is and also the universities themselves are morphing organ state has their campus and bend university oregon osu and i think even organ institute technology uh climate falls people they have small campuses in uh Portland area now so uh that's the model smaller more decentralized is that kind of what you're getting at? Yeah, well, having these satellites, so I think Southern Oregon, for it to survive, it needs to come under the wing of the University of Oregon and, like, the Eastern Oregon University there in LaGrand, it needs to go away or also become a satellite campus. Western Oregon University has a unique mission with the, from the States, is Oregon College of
Starting point is 00:29:56 Education, a teacher's school. So for many years, that school was trying to get under the wing of OSUs. So there just needs to be this transformative thing that needs to happen, and the academics and the administrators just need to clean their act up. It's just we can't support all these state schools. Starting point is 00:32:31 News Talk 1063, KMED. Open for business now. Lisa McLeese-Kelly is back in here, and network and action. We're continuing to just expose more of the people who have joined this group, and everything is about getting people, well, more business and also more connections in here. Lisa, it's great to see you. How you doing? I'm good.
Starting point is 00:32:51 Thank you. Okay, tell me a little bit once again. I'm just assuming that anybody who ever hears this talk about network and action has no clue what we're talking about. So I always want to start it that way. Yeah. And tell us what it's all about. So it's about taking business owners and high-level professionals, putting them together in a room,
Starting point is 00:33:06 helping them have one shared brain. So they learn from each other, grow deeper connections, and therefore want to refer each other. But it's about learning as people, as business owners, and not being lonely at the top, and then also getting business out of it. You know, you had mentioned before, and I thought this was quite interesting that entrepreneurs quite often sometimes are, you know, will take their own life. you even talked about this. They have a high rate of suicide. Because they feel like, everybody cares, nobody plugged in, I'm drowning, you know, all those.
Starting point is 00:33:35 It's overwhelming. I mean, you have to be an expert in a million things unless you know how to hire somebody or can do some trade or whatever, especially starting out. So it's difficult. Yeah. Now, I'm not claiming the two people that you brought today are looking suicidal. That's not where we're getting at, though. But still, it is, it's a serious thing. How do they get a hold of you if they wanted to join their business interview? Because really it's one of those things where you have to decide, the group has to decide, if it fits, if it's a good fit. Yes, yes.
Starting point is 00:34:01 So we're not looking necessarily just to put anybody in any seat. We're looking for the right people to make sure that we can help the person that we're bringing in, and they can help the people in the room. So they can get a hold of me at s-o-networking.com, and I'm currently looking for a mortgage broker and a realtor for my Medford group. All right, very good. So that's the marching order then. If you are one of those businesses that might help, you know how to get a hold of Lisa. All right. I'm going to have you both share this microphone here, both of the two people here, just so that you can get you on Facebook live. I can't look to the side there. And Cecile Enright, that's you. Yes. Cecil, tell us a little bit about you. You're with Pacific Bible College.
Starting point is 00:34:39 Yes, with Pacific Bible College, I joined the team about a year ago. And we have, it's a local Christian college that nobody knows about. So how do we get that exposure? How do we let people know? what Pacific Bible College is. It's a Christian college, it's small class sizes, and they have counseling degree programs, both a certificate program, an associate's degree program, and a bachelor's degree program. They also brand new to Pacific Bible College, and I had the privilege of helping build this out, is a teacher preparation program. That is exciting. It was approved last spring by the higher ed commission so they call that the heck okay well you think about it this way i i can imagine there be a number of parents that would be very interested in getting involved with this uh with a pacific bible college because uh let's be fair you know even though we know that there
Starting point is 00:35:39 are people in the public school system that are trying their best you look at this course is not going so well is it absolutely and so how do we prepare the next generation for teaching in the classroom and making sure our kids have what they need to be successful in this world. What kind of a teacher is best for your kind of, well, like I said, it's a new teacher program. What are you looking for? Someone that is a calling. Teaching is not something you just jump into.
Starting point is 00:36:08 It's an absolute calling. You know, and for within a Christian college, you want someone that knows they've been called to work with young people, whether it's kindergarten, all the way up. through high school. It's more than just the union contract, I guess. It is definitely more than that. Yeah. And if you're not a believer, if you're not in tune, then this is not the job for you. Absolutely. And you don't have to be a believer to be a teacher because this program will prepare you to go into a public school setting also. Okay. All right. Like I said, it was approved by the higher ed commission. So this is something to where you can be licensed, work in the public school,
Starting point is 00:36:50 school, a charter school, wherever is the best placement for you. Very good. How can people find out more about your program? Pacificbibble.edu. All right. And like I said, it's the biggest school that no one's heard of, right? It is. And they do a wonderful job.
Starting point is 00:37:09 Absolute, excellent instructors in this school. West Fourth Street in Medford, right? It's Westforth and Oakdale. All right. I appreciate. Cecile's great talking with you. And what if you like, though, about networking and action. I always ask the people there. What I can really appreciate about NIA is the connections
Starting point is 00:37:26 that are made. Lisa brings people together. You get to know them. You get to schedule times for one-on-one with different business owners. I don't own a business, but I'm in the nonprofit world. So being able to make those connections are huge. Yeah, well, that's a business too, even though it's but still, same principles involved. Absolutely. All right, Cecile, great talking with you. Thank you. All right, so what we're going to do is that we're going to shush Cecil out there and bring Chris Scott on because this way Chris can be on camera here. Go ahead and bring the microphone up to you. Oh, right. There we go.
Starting point is 00:38:01 You're a little taller. Everybody else. That's cool. But Chris, tell us a little bit about your business. Chris Scott. Chris Scott, yes. Thank you so much for letting me be here with you this morning. My pleasure.
Starting point is 00:38:10 I'm a contractor. I've been here in southern Oregon for a very long time, a couple decades. just helping folks specifically with covering their windows with beautiful new blinds and shades and shutters and draperies. Okay. And that's, is that what CGS property services is about? Covering great spaces. Ah, okay. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:29 So CGS is more than just a bunch of letters there. Correct. Tell us a little bit about that and what makes you different, let's say, then. Yeah. I love what I do. I'm grateful for every opportunity to serve people. It's always, I've always had a servant's heart and desire to help. folks, you know, have the peace and the comfort in their home.
Starting point is 00:38:49 Okay. Yeah, what are all your various services? Is it only just the covering or something else? Usually it's blinds and shades and shutters and draperies. I provide a service to measure window openings and doors and install them for them. Okay. I'll even service them a little bit, too. Even service.
Starting point is 00:39:06 You know, is there anything new in the technology of draper? And the reason I bring this up is that, you know, in my house, like I said, it was built in 1986 and so there are still some blinds and things like that from you know the ones the type of blinds that the cats will eventually tear up because they'll rip up all the uh all the slats all the slats and the strings on them a cat that used to like to wake us up about four or five in the morning eating the cords chewing on the cords it's time to time to get up and feed me do you have any non-edible cords well actually they don't make them with with cords anymore they don't yeah A whole bunch of child safety things.
Starting point is 00:39:48 So, yeah, most all of them are cordless, or they have a cord loop with a tensioner on them now. Well, that makes a lot of sense that. Yeah, for that, at least. So you're there to help them cordless. Yeah, I mean, the hungry cattle still find a way to wake you up, though, I'm sure. Okay, so he can't solve that, but he can solve the covering aspect of it. How can people find out more? Coveringgratespaces.com is my website.
Starting point is 00:40:09 My phone number is 541-840-2584. It's great at getting a chance to meet you, Chris. Yeah, excellent. I really appreciate that. Thank you so much. Final question, though, what has it been like being in networking? It's been absolutely transformational. December of last year, I just faced the roughest year in business that I've faced in over 20.
Starting point is 00:40:30 And I heard Lisa talking with you about network and action, and specifically the Christian business owners group and just felt, you know, I've got to drop what I'm getting ready for the day of work. I dropped everything and just went. and found it and emailed her and just every opportunity to develop friendships with folks to help you get into a good space and have good connections with folks it's transformational finally found a home yeah that's great yeah chris great getting a chance to see you again there and i appreciate that we're going to scusha or get uh Lisa back on there one more time if you want to join these or other groups that you have going on what do they do so networking dot com all right
Starting point is 00:41:11 and you talk with Lisa McLeese Kelly. Lisa, always a pleasure. Thank you. Thanks for dropping in on Open for Business, okay? It is 851 and change on KMED, 993KBXG. I know we talked about doing a Diner 62 quiz. I don't think we're going to be able to give it the love that it needs quite enough time. So I'll tell you what.

Starting point is 00:43:34 how can someone oppose texas democrats walking out yet support oregon republicans doing the same or vice versa Perhaps the answer lies not in the tactic itself, but in the underlying motivation and purpose. In Texas, Democrats are attempting to deny quorum to block legislation that would reshape voting districts and potentially reduce their influence. Their primary concern appears to be preservation of party power. In contrast, when Oregon Republicans have used the same tactic, it has most often been to block legislation they argue would harm the fiscal well-being and constitutional rights of their constituents. view this way the difference isn't just political its principle it's possible to disagree with one use of quorum and support another not out of hypocrisy but because of differing motivation and consequences however i would say virtual uh virgil rather the problem that you run into though
Starting point is 00:44:25 is that um there's only uh one i guess the thing is though if i support it for republicans for who's pretty agree with i have to support it then for democrats using it for even though i disagree with them. It is a parliamentary procedure, okay? And I have to, I have to be consistent with something like that. I can dislike their motivation all I want because I assure you Democrats would look at the Republicans' motivation in Oregon with a suspect, too. They'd be viewing it through a political lens. It's all politics, too. All right. And finally, we'll wrap it up. It's not a pebble in your shoe, but Logan, I'll let you take a bite. How are you doing this morning. We've got just about 45 seconds.
