Starting point is 00:00:00 The Bill Meyer Show podcast is sponsored by Klauser Drilling. They've been leading the way in Southern Oregon well drilling for over 50 years. Find out more about them at Klausordrilling.com. Here's Bill Meyer. Hey, so good to have you here on Conspiracy Theory Thursday. Join the conversation here at 7705-633-770KMED, the email bill at Billmyershow.com. The New York mayor candidates ended up having their final debate last night, and it's looking like Mamdani is going to win this one.
Starting point is 00:00:33 The Islamist communist, the Islamist communist. More than 60%, what is it, if you were foreign-born, if you're a foreign-born resident of New York City, 60% of those voters are for Mamdani, the Islamist socialist, the democratic socialist, the communist, the communist, however you want, whatever hard left-wing you, what label you want to put on it. That is where we find ourselves right now.
Starting point is 00:01:02 Can we finally put to bed or put to rest this nonsense that the open border crowds have been feeding us for? How many decades now that the United States is an idea and all you have to do is get here and the magic soil and the magic, I guess the magic fairy dust, which ends up which ends up being all over the land of milk and honey the magic fairy dust will take all the third world people
Starting point is 00:01:37 the socialists, the communist, the Islamists, you know, all these people who've grown up within those kind of regimes and they will magically turn into Jeffersonian democracy supporters you know, yes, the representative republic
Starting point is 00:01:52 I think we could finally see what is the ultimate the ultimate transformation of America, which ended up happening. And Joe Biden, of course, Joe Biden just put the nail in the coffin? Or do you think we can survive? Do you think we can survive an Islamist communist mayor of the largest city in the country? Now, we've had bad politicians in elected positions before. Is this a tipping point, you think?
Starting point is 00:02:25 that would be one question I have for you this morning now the only decent candidate there is Curtis Leewa Curtis Slewa conservative guy good activist he's been there working a long time Guardian Angels did all that sort of stuff good to clean up the city kind of guy but he's only polling at about 20 percent you got Cuomo yeah about 30
Starting point is 00:02:47 and you have Mom Donnie running away with it and if Curtis Lewa stepped aside if he stepped aside there's no guarantee that all those voters would go and vote for Cuomo. So that's where we find ourselves right now. Do you think that it's a tipping point, right? Is this a tipping point? Or will we survive this and this two shall pass?
Starting point is 00:03:10 7705-633-770K-MED. That's the big national story, as far as I'm concerned. They had their final debate. I know the Gateway, a pundit says, oh, yeah, Curtis Lewa, crushed, crushed bummed, It doesn't matter. It's not going to change the polling. They want that.
Starting point is 00:03:30 It's not all that different from the way that people in Portland vote. They voted for open communists on their city council. We've talked about that before. Are we at the tipping point or will we survive this too? I was talking about that the other day with former state senator Herman Berchiger, which the Republican Party in Oregon has also tended to operate under the guys of, You know, gosh, if you just get them enough communism, if they get enough communism and nonsense, socialistic policies, then they'll see the light and they will automatically, well, they're kind of using that, you know, Oregon is an idea kind of place, just like the United States is a place. You come to Oregon and, you know, the magic dirt will turn you into just good sensible citizens.
Starting point is 00:04:20 Man, I wish that were the case. I wish we had magic dirt about this time, don't you? It has come here and you turn into magically smart, intelligent people. I don't know. But we can certainly talk about that this morning. But, yeah, Herman has said, we even agreed the Republican Party has tended to the operator. You know, it just gets bad enough that the voters in Oregon will turn around and they'll start voting for sensible policies.
Starting point is 00:04:46 I've never seen any evidence of this, but, you know, it could happen. could happen. A fellow can always dream and I'm willing to be open to the positive. But yet this is conspiracy theory Thursday. Rogue Valley Times and the Capitol Chronicle reporting this morning,
Starting point is 00:05:07 Oregon urges payment flexibility under government shutdown. Insurance companies and financial institutions should give Oregonians affected by the ongoing federal government shutdown more time and flexibility to pay bills and file claims.
Starting point is 00:05:23 This is a agency recommendation from Tuesday. To help ease any financial hardship, the Oregon Division of Financial Regulation, is encouraging insurance companies, health care service contractors, and state-regulated financial institutions under its jurisdiction to provide grace periods to premium payments,
Starting point is 00:05:42 give more time to file claims, allow more time to repay debts, waive late payment penalties, postpone foreclosure actions and evictions, and negotiate with consumers experiencing hardship because of the shutdown. We know the shutdown has affected thousands of families in Oregon, and we are asking our regulated entities to give some grace. Okay, I love this.
Starting point is 00:06:04 So I think this is mostly for federal government employees. I don't recall them, you know, every time any kind of little sort of economic tumult ends up hitting us in the private sector, do you recall them just saying automatically, you know, the private sector's been taking it kind of hard in the shorts right now. It could all you regulated industries, you know, take it easy on the private sector. You know, they're having trouble making the bills work. Now, of course, over during COVID time, there was a certain about a bit of that in which they really just took over things and say you landlords, especially, you landlords don't actually
Starting point is 00:06:48 own your property, you own it in partnership. Is that what they mean by the public-private partnership every time you hear that? Public-private partnership, you pretend to own the land and will let you know what you can do with it. Yeah, I don't recall the regulatory agencies of the state of Oregon being all that worried. But, boy, when you talk about government employees taking it in the short, then all of a sudden they get right on that.
Starting point is 00:07:16 Right on it. Time for some grace periods. such. Another interesting story, this one on K-OBI-5. Of course, we have their news on Fox 26, our TV station. Every night, first news at 10. Good stuff. This is what they were talking about yesterday.
Starting point is 00:07:32 As the federal government shutdown begins to impact essential services, Oregon Department of Human Services working to keep families informed about changes to food benefits. Uh-oh. O'DHS says if you already have money in your EBT card, translation your Oregon Trail card, you can keep using it normally. These benefits will not disappear and will remain available while the shutdown continues. However, if the shutdown stretches into November, no new regular SNAP benefits will be issued until the government reopens.
Starting point is 00:08:12 We know how stressful this is. Uncertainty is for families who rely on SNAP to put food on the table, said Lisa, Liesel went, rather. Acting Director of the Oregon Department of Human Services. We're monitoring this closely. So there we go. I was going through my X feed last night. And a friend popped me this one. This is something to be talking about.
Starting point is 00:08:42 In fact, I'm wondering if this is, if this is the big unspoken about soon-to-be next shoe to drop here in southern Oregon. This is a young man in a urban setting someplace in the country, and he was doing a social media post about what would happen if the EBT card goes away or if it stops working and what he was going to do. Now, I had to edit out the foul language, so you'll hear the beep. Just know, use your imagination. is if I don't receive my benefits this month, the food stamps, I feel bad for the shop, right? Feel bad for the grocery store. I wouldn't just be rolling my cart out that bitch, like, I pay for it.
Starting point is 00:09:28 But I guess the car just didn't work this month. It'll work next month. Oh, yeah, now, I guess, because I'm going to be eating Thanksgiving. You're talking about. I'm eating for Thanksgiving. I don't know what the fuck they're talking about. and I'm having turkey him all the good shit
Starting point is 00:09:47 that shit yet another fine American who is demanding his benefits another question for you this morning do you think the Democrats are actually keeping the government shut down intentionally to have these kind of fine Americans
Starting point is 00:10:07 get sporty Could this actually be the plan? Could this actually be what Jeff Merkley was out there doing his filibuster over the last day or so? His 20-something hour bleeding about Trump's authoritarianism. Yeah, Senator Merckley doing that. Of course, it came to not. Democrats still voted to keep the government closed because they're not going to vote for a government reopening unless they get some $1.7 trillion of extra Greece.
Starting point is 00:10:40 It's more than just the Obamacare subsidies that they were talking about that would be running out at the end of this year. $1.7 trillion over the next 10 years or so. That's how much that extra grease would be talking about. They're just demanding. They're actually ransoming this. And they have to know that a lot of their voters, like this fine gentleman here,
Starting point is 00:11:01 you know if I don't get my benefits if I don't get my benefits I'm just going to roll into the shopping cart that's what he was talking about must be the chain where you know grocery store exists and well the card didn't work I'm just going to take it it didn't work why so in other words he's going to be shoplifting and planning on shoplifting and doing it quite openly so one of the questions I would have for you also on conspiracy theory Thursday
Starting point is 00:11:31 is that Democrats know this. Jeff Merkley knows this, too. Do you think it's intentional? Or just a collateral damage, so to speak. And what do you think happens when the Oregon Trail Card stops working? Now, I want to be clear with you, the Oregon Trail Card technically will not stop working November 1st. Now, remember, this is only, what, eight days from now.
Starting point is 00:11:59 eight days from now unless the federal government is reopened and it needs Democrat votes now three Democrats did cross the aisle last night the same three that opened for last time I think it was
Starting point is 00:12:11 Federman was one of them and a couple of other Democrat senators Federman says is stupid you know what the Dems are doing right now occasionally even a crazy guy like Federman is making some sense
Starting point is 00:12:21 makes more sense than Jeff Merkley hey could we have John Federman is ours yeah we can have John Federman you know the stroke that that we can have him be our state senator or our U.S. senator. It still make more sense than Merkley at this point. But be that as it may.
Starting point is 00:12:38 Is this intentional, you think? What do you think happens if the EBT does shut down? No benefits coming in as of, well, be next Saturday. Not this Saturday, but Saturday after next, all right? Next Saturday, no additional money goes in. Now, if you have some SNAP benefits in there right now available, those will still work, but it's only the current balance. But if you've spent it all down, forget about it.
Starting point is 00:13:03 It's not going to happen. And you have this guy, this fine young man, fine example of American independence, independence thought and self-sufficiency, saying that if I don't get my benefits, I'm just going to roll my cart in there and I just go to take what I want. I'm going to shoplift. We're going to have to start putting armed guards in the supermarkets, shirms and safe way. And Winco, we're going to have to have a whole lot of private security in there. It's like, oh, no, you're not.
Starting point is 00:13:36 Or is it going to be one of those situations like what has happened in the past? Oh, no, don't get in the way. Don't get in the way of urban diversity. We can't do this. These are people that are just fighting to eat. Or do we dig deep and we maybe raise some more money and help out the food banks? How do you see that playing? It's seven, eight days from now.
Starting point is 00:13:57 And there is no evidence that there is going to be any changes coming in the near future on how they're going to vote to reopen the, well, what's closed on the federal government right now, which means SNAP benefits. Some 700,000 Oregonians depend on this. One out of six people. One out of six people. You go, I see six people. One of them is on the Oregon Trail card. That's considered a good thing, by the way, in the Democratic world. Oh, this is wonderful the state will provide.
Starting point is 00:14:26 Well, the state is going to stop providing here pretty soon. What are your thoughts on that? I think that's a great conspiracy theory Thursday question. A, are the Democrats doing this purposefully, knowing that urban sportiness will end up ensuing? A lot of fun. Little sportiness and kind of like a restart of the Summer of Love kind of thing. Or is something else in play. I'd like your opinion this morning.
Starting point is 00:14:54 It's Conspiracy's Theory Thursday, and you're on the Bill Meyers show on KMED and KBXG. A recent Klausor drilling customer shares her experience. Use the promo code back. Terms to apply. Hi, I'm Michael with Gage of Construction, and I'm on KMED. 629. It is Conspiracy Theory Thursday. A conspiracy theory that I'm floating right now is that the Democrats realize that they think that they have a winning issue. That the SNAP benefits, the Oregon Trail Card, food stamps, whatever you want to call it
Starting point is 00:15:25 the benefits like the young urban gentleman ended up bringing up here I saw this on my X feed yesterday and I'm going to play it again just because I think it speaks volumes to America today okay for some reason it is not working
Starting point is 00:15:43 oh might help if I use the right control. All I know is if I don't receive my benefits this month food stamps I feel bad for the shop, right? I will just be rolling my cart out that bitch. Like, I pay for it.
Starting point is 00:16:03 But I guess the car just didn't work this month. It'll work next month. Oh, yeah, now, I guess. Because I'm going to be eating Thanksgiving. You're talking about. I'm eating for Thanksgiving. I don't know what the fuck they're talking about. And I'm having turkey, him.
Starting point is 00:16:18 All the good stuff is what he said. And, of course, this is an amazing demonstration of what happens when you have a learned dependency in our culture. That's a problem. Democrats know this, though. They like this. Mom Donnie is probably going to be the mayor of New York City pretty soon on top of this. And the Democrats refuse to vote for a clean CR to get the government open. And they know that November 1st, people like that are going to be rolling their carts into the shopping cart. and I'm going to be getting my Thanksgiving dinner. I'm going to be getting the turkey and the ham.
Starting point is 00:16:54 I'm going to be getting all the good stuff and the expletives along with it. And kind of implying that no one's going to stop them. Meanwhile, you're at Merckley over there doing his 20 or so hour filibuster decrying Trump's authoritarianism. Gosh, they're not going to work with us. Well, the only way that the Democrats will open it up or give the vote. for the most part, except for the three that have gone over so far, is that they want another $1.7 trillion in borrowed Greece. They want to keep the Obamacare subsidies going and a bunch of other things that there are pet projects. And it's like, oh, yeah, sorry, we're borrowing
Starting point is 00:17:33 $1 for every two we spend right now, not really sustainable. So how do you see it? Do you think Democrats realize this and they're going to play this card intentionally, looking for a bit of disorder, looking for fine urban individuals, just going into the shopping cart or whatever it is and just taking what they want once the Oregon Trail card stops? Is it intentional? Tom's here? Tom, you're a member of the early morning risers and commenter club. I always appreciate you being here, even on Conspiracy Theory Thursday.
Starting point is 00:18:06 How are you? Hello, Tom. You know, you know, the thing going on, all of this hubris going on. is really a big arguing about the size, power, and scope of the federal government. Indeed, sure. And so you have people in both camps really thinking that the government should be involved in welfare. And, you know, even Social Security, food stamps, all the shelters and so forth. Well, I agree that it's an argument about that, but no one's having that argument right now.
Starting point is 00:18:44 I think they're just trying to keep the plate spinning in one form or another. Let's be honest. Exactly. You know, there are very few Ron Paul types. I guess Massey might be one of the rare Ron Paul types that it's actually over in Congress right now. And Trump is trying to get him primaried. So that's kind of where we fight ourselves right now. You've heard me say this before.
Starting point is 00:19:06 But when we have such a dishonest monetary system, you almost, you make it necessary. to have a very extended welfare state so that you don't have the PLEBs rebelling and so forth. Okay, well, it looks like the PLEBs are going to rebel if this young man who was on his social media post the other day, and I think he's being quite often, of course, I don't know, do you think maybe that's just talk right now, that's just like social media talk and that people will behave lawfully? It's been well established that we're always nine meals from a revolt. The powers of be realized that.
Starting point is 00:19:53 So that's where we're at. And what's going on in New York, Mondani, and so forth, how many people have, like, Fresh Limbaugh and all the others have fled New York or Florida? and how far into the ground does New York City have to go before people say, hey, this is not working? You know, that's really interesting that a lot of the people that were more sensible have left. You're right about that. It's kind of like what has happened with Oregon, too, the brain drain. That's the kind of brain drain, political brain drain, that has been going on.
Starting point is 00:20:29 I hadn't considered that. Yeah, just about anybody who has capital is fleeing as quickly as they can and getting out of it. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. It's not just a brain drain. I mean, it's really a financial brain drain. But can you agree with me, though, that it's nonsense to keep talking about America and open borders is like, we just had this magic dirt that turns everybody into Americans, rock-ribbed independent Americans when you just come here, Tom? Can we finally put that to bed? Because 60% of the people in New York City that are foreign-born, foreign-born New Yorkers, they love Mom Donnie.
Starting point is 00:21:06 They love him. Yeah, well, it's just like you're fond of quoting Great Britain there where socialism is great until you run out of other people's money. Good point. Tom, I appreciate the call. Thanks for that. 770563. It's open phones on Conspiracy Theory Thursday. You think this is intentional to get the so-called underclass, would us put it that way, stirred up, getting hot and bothered. And anything else on your mind here, too. Hi, good morning. Who's this?
Starting point is 00:21:38 Welcome. Hello. This is Wayne. Hey, Wayne. How are you doing this morning? It's on your mind. Good, Bill. Yeah, this one really fires me up.
Starting point is 00:21:49 It does, huh? Yeah. I think it is a setup. I just heard this morning that I think in less than, a month, our, uh, the American debt, uh, added a trillion dollars. We're currently at 38 trillion on our debt. Yep. Um, and those that are uneducated that have bought into all this propaganda, they better get their house in order because, uh, just like in 08, uh, if you educate yourself and read and listen openly, um, that shoe's going to drop again. It's going to be worse than
Starting point is 00:22:26 it wasn't 08, in my humble opinion. But the thing that really irritates me is all the opportunity that's available to both men and women in this country. I wish I had it when I was grown up, but they don't want to do anything. It's all been handed to them. And if, you know, go try that in China or Iraq or, you know, sit on a street and think that, you know, you're going to be taken care of. Anyway. Yeah, it's a hot button, and I think, you know, we are, there's enough people out there that have been on subsistence. Now, I have no problem with that. Everybody needs to help.
Starting point is 00:23:09 I've had a lot of help in my life, but at the same time. Yeah, I'd be happy to dig deep and help out the accesses when something, if this ends up coming to pass here. But I have a feeling that, you know, that there's a certain percentage that it's going to be Summer of Love version. two, except this time over food. What do you think? Absolutely, absolutely. And it's just, I saw about maybe five seconds of Berkeley, and I put it on mute. That's what I love about the remote.
Starting point is 00:23:40 But the dog and pony show with our representatives in this state and throughout the country that don't understand economics 101 is pathetic. and to sit there. You know, they've got everything that they need. But, yeah, I think they're stirring the pot, and there's enough out there, especially in their bigger cities, you better get your house in order. Yeah, I would definitely stock up your larder, your pantry, or whatever it is, and just in case, as we get close to that, because it can go sideways real quick with urban violence.
Starting point is 00:24:22 No doubt about that. Yeah, and, I mean, We're getting into the fall in the wintertime, but, I mean, any day, especially with, look at our infrastructure, our electrical grid and whatnot. I heard, I think it was Benz yesterday, saying what? It's almost 10 years to get a transformer. Yeah. I mean, come on, folks. Wake up.
Starting point is 00:24:45 Anyway. All right. Hey, wait, I appreciate the call. Thanks for hearing from you. And look forward to hearing more from you, okay? Appreciate that. You know. 7705-633.
Starting point is 00:24:54 It is conspiracy theory Thursday, and it has to do with, you know, the shutdown is getting serious because the EBT card, the SNAP benefit, the Oregon Trail card will shut down as of eight days from now, no more money coming in. How do you think that will play out? And you think that this is the Trump card, no pun intended, that the Democrats are wanting to play. I'd like to get your call. 770KMAD right back. Need a roof that performs and lasts. Stephen Westfall Roofing installs Snaplock metal roofing. Light White. Service in town.
Starting point is 00:25:26 Drake's Paint and Supply. Your color. Your community. Your home. Your locally owned Benjamin Moore dealer in Medford and Grants Pass. It's the Bill Myers Show on KMED, Southern Oregon's Place to Talk. And I'm happy to have you talk now. 770563. It's open phones this hour on Conspiracy Theory Thursday.
Starting point is 00:25:47 And it is just an interesting time to we find ourselves. Even the state of Oregon out warning people, hey, you know, the snap end of are going away as of October 1st, as soon as November 1st happens. So after Halloween, after all the Halloween vandalism, if there's any, then what, are there food riots? We don't know. Is this something intentional? Democrats don't seem to be willing to reopen, and it would be pretty simple, but they
Starting point is 00:26:12 want their $1.7 trillion in Greece. And how do you think that plays out? We talk with Dave. We got Dave and Merlin. Dave, pleasure having you on the show. It's on your mind. thank you morning bill so i was just saying or thinking you know maybe we should uh let that let that conspiracy play out let them deny the benefits and then you know when they when the ninth
Starting point is 00:26:34 circuit does their other panel about the deployment of national guard troops all this other stuff that's fine because realistically at the end of the day if there does end up being uh problems because of a food shortage or denial of it i mean what are they going to you'd deploy the National Guard to protect the stores? Like, is it just... Well, you could see that there is precedence of that around the world when the things have gone pear-shaped, so to speak. Yeah, absolutely.
Starting point is 00:27:02 You know, I mean, it's the pot call in the kettle black because, I mean, they won't let Trump have it to protect federal buildings or, you know, ICE officers or so on so forth. And by the way, that hearing's supposed to be tomorrow in which if Emmergat is going to dissolve that earlier temporary restraining order. So we'll know more about that, tomorrow, and chances or she probably will, but yeah, they're doing their best to not allow law enforcement, though.
Starting point is 00:27:28 Do you think that Governor Kotech would be okay with National Guard to protect the supermarkets? What do you think? You know what? I think she'd be in favor of whatever gets her money and voted back in again. So if that's the case, then yeah, but if not, I totally see her denying Trump, but then totally using the guard for her own reason. All right.
Starting point is 00:27:49 Dave, I appreciate the call. for checking in from Merlin. Let me go to David. Hello, David. Good to have you here. Hey, Bill. I've had a truck with no radio for like two weeks, and that's been a crime. Oh, man. Okay, well, you ever happens again. Come here. I'll give you one of my boom boxes, okay? Okay. So this is conspiracy theory Thursday, but also ties in with like social benefits. And the whole notion of charity and giving and helping people, it's been totally refrained when I had this revelation a couple days ago. Okay. So Jesus said the poor you will always have with you, you know? And people kind of glance over that because of the
Starting point is 00:28:26 context of the verse. I think he's saying, hey, come with me right now. The poor you all, like, hang out with me before I die. The poor will always have with you. I think is what he said. I'm not sure. I read it a bunch. But, you know, when he says the poor you will always have with you, it means this hierarchy of, of, you know, society as it's always been, is by a divine order. He's ordered. The creators ordered the planet to be a system where resources are such for different people. That's part of the design, you know. We're not supposed to or able to fix it. And I think about these people, especially sending these, like, buses to all these other countries to build houses. And it's like, I wish they wouldn't wear themselves out. It's like, read the Bible. He says, the poor you will always have with you, you know. And I quit giving, like, stuff and resources to people a whole time ago. It didn't, well, you know, I've been kind of looking at that very differently.
Starting point is 00:29:19 I look at it as a human duty that if you have plenty, and you feel it within your heart to share, that it's perfectly okay to do it. I think it's a good thing to do that. Well, are you already sharing an entirely open heart for everyone you know? Because if you're already sharing that, then yeah, it's great to give. But I think giving of your material self does not absolve what we're really supposed to be there. Because he says – Oh, well, and I will agree with you, too. You know, writing the check doesn't absolve your hard heart.
Starting point is 00:29:51 Okay? I'll give you that. Okay? All right. I'll give you that. In the Bible, though, he says, you know, I provide for you. Look at the – look at the bird. They don't work, but I feed them, you know.
Starting point is 00:30:00 So you're not fed of your own hand. You're fed of – you know, you exist from Providence. So he could snap his finger and give everyone all the material stuff we think they need all the else they think they need, you know, we're... So take it back, though, to our SNAP benefit culture, though. Okay. You know, do you believe that this is intentional to actually cause trouble, or is there something, is there some other strategy in play?
Starting point is 00:30:24 I'm just taking it back to what we're actually having to focus here on. Well, first of all, if you're perceiving this news story, understand something. Whether you have food stamps or you work your butt off for your money, when you sit down and you put a piece of food in your mouth, that is a blessing. That was ordained through divine coordination. Okay, that was not because the Democrats got you food stamps or because you're just a hardworking conservative that buys every piece of steak and you're just a self-made man. Yeah. These are all paradigms.
Starting point is 00:30:53 These are all myths. We tell each of them. Okay, we tell ourselves, all right? We do not provide for ourselves. Okay, we are blessed with our sustenance constantly. So if you start from that frame of reference and then you want to have the conversation about food stamps and how you should do. Well, yeah, but if you're going to go to. on that road that it's all being provided by divine intervention then. So is it divine intervention
Starting point is 00:31:16 that Caesar has ordained that I steal from you and give to another person who I think needs it more? Is that ordained also? I mean, God lets us exist in like whatever government system you're born in for your learning session here on Earth, but let me tell you something. You're not going to ask God and have him tell you he likes socialism or he likes democracy or he doesn't care about those political systems. So to me, I, you know, I only listen to your show, Bill. I don't listen to any other news, so I don't really know. I know, you know, when you say, if you want to go there, I mean, we all should go there. That's how we are provided for it. We are provided by providence. So, you know, now, what do you want the Democrats to do? I mean, I don't know. I don't really
Starting point is 00:31:57 care. I was just telling you about how to frame the notion of charity. Jesus said the poor you will always have with you. And so that's, I think, an important thing. But I don't think Jesus was saying don't help the poor, was he? Uh, was he going to help the poor? No, but he's saying, like, they're still going to be there, like, understand what you're working. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, you're not going to say, it's impossible to save every beached starfish, so to speak, you know, that old parable about the starfish on the beach.
Starting point is 00:32:26 All right, David, I appreciate the call. Hey, I want to make sure we got Gene here, too, and Steve's also standing by. And we also have an open line that just opened up here, 7705-633. We're talking about the upcoming snaps. benefit shut down. And Jane, how are you doing over in Wilderville? Good to hear from you. What's on your mind? I'm going fine, and I've got two points to make if I'm allowed. You always do. What's up? Well, for one thing, how many people that are losing their snaps are going to start voting for the dictators? And they're supposed to force the Republicans that are standing firm in the government
Starting point is 00:33:06 to say yes, master, whatever you want. Well, the ones that are there quite likely may already be voting for that particular party. I don't know. I'm just talking about Oregon being a majority Democratic state. It's hard to say. Republicans have been amazingly united this time. There's been a lot of party discipline for a change. I'm kind of shocked.
Starting point is 00:33:30 You know, normally we've caved in by this type, Gene, wouldn't you say? Is that normally the way it works? Oh, yeah. What was the second point you wanted to make? How many people are going to try to force the Republican Party in the federal to actually give in to the master and do what it was? Oh, okay, that was. You did ask that already. Okay, I'm sorry, a couple of points, a couple questions.
Starting point is 00:33:58 Gene, I appreciate the call. 770KMEDs here. And let's go to Steve. Hello, Steve and Sunny Valley. What's up? Good morning. Good morning, indeed. Good morning.
Starting point is 00:34:08 I have been, I have qualified for benefits many times in my life, and I have never taken them. I've always just gotten a second or third part-time job. And I've lived on top ramen, rice, and beans a lot of years. But these something or nothings, you can tell who they are, because they always have the chips and the sodas and the steaks in their cart, and then they pull out that card, and are eating better than I do. And, uh, well, I would argue that you're probably eating more health, uh, healthfully.
Starting point is 00:34:40 Oh, that top ramen is not good for anybody. Oh, no, top ramen is great, but the beans and rice, that's not bad for you, actually. Yeah, it's just boring. Yeah. But, uh, daily reminder, uh, taxation is theft, and charity at, uh, gunpoint is tyranny. Uh, so we need to, you know, we've been poor in the past. We had a great depression and we had people write books like, like the make more plan and how to live on nothing.
Starting point is 00:35:09 And we just need to tighten our belts and get back to it. The poor will survive. The difference between being poor and being a thug is your behavior. You don't have to be a thug just because you're poor. I know that Linda's family was very much of modest means when she was a young girl. And I wouldn't say poor, but probably just above it, right? And they were that way. and you're right being poor doesn't mean being a criminal doesn't mean that you are a bad moral
Starting point is 00:35:38 quality if you want to call it that way but everybody getting snap benefits is getting those benefits off the back of somebody else's labor they are making slaves of the working class and giving to the poor leisure class don't you think that they learn in government school given that all of our school systems now just provide free lunch you know there's free lunch for everybody we don't you don't have to qualify for anything because we wouldn't want anybody to feel badly during covid i was driving a school bus delivering school lunches to bus stops it was embarrassing it was the most biggest waste of money i've ever seen in my life is just ridiculous no we need we need to become a society that is ashamed of taking
Starting point is 00:36:25 government handouts again i think that uh i think that that that is one of the main things that keeps people, you know, productive, and a productive society will grow, whereas if everybody is on the dole, it's stagnation and decay. You know, Steve, the only challenge with, you know, that self-sufficiency or, you know, not taking benefits, you look back at what happened in the Great Depression, and I had grandparents and great-grandparents who grew up in the Depression, and it's interesting how it affected them. I remember my grandma ProTec, loved her.
Starting point is 00:37:04 What a wonderful woman she was. But I remember as a young boy being somewhat amazed that she would wash and rinse out aluminum foil. Yeah, my mother did the same thing with the plastic bags. You get to go your groceries in. Yeah, but I remember her doing that. And I said, Grandma, why are you doing it? We got lots of aluminum foil.
Starting point is 00:37:26 And she says, I don't want to waste anything. It's like that so got embedded in that generation's personality. And I also think that's also why their children ended up being somewhat spoiled, the baby boomers and the people that came after them, I think. I think that's where a lot of the spoilage came from because they had such a deprivation, and they remembered that, and it was kind of like they didn't want that for their kids. I don't know if that's true. My mother was from the lost generation.
Starting point is 00:38:01 Technically, I'm a boomer. I miss being a Gen X by a few months. But I think that you cannot use these big stereotypes for everybody, because it's how you're raised. Oh, no. Yeah, I wasn't saying that all are spoiled, but I would say that arguably the generation that came after the Great Depression generation definitely experienced probably the fattest and biggest times on the land here, post-World War II. You'd have to agree on that much, right? Well, and you're seeing the ones that did get the fat of the land out there on the no kings,
Starting point is 00:38:40 you can either take it two ways. You could be grateful for what you've got or you could, you know, protest nothing. I want my bit of it. Got it. All right, Steve. Appreciate the call. All right. Not a lot of gratitude going around, I guess, these days, huh?
Starting point is 00:39:00 $6.56, KMED. This is the Bill Meyer Show. Two Dogs Fabricating has the resources to transform your rig into the motor. For pickup is November 28th. This is News Talk 1063, KMED. And you're waking up with the Bill Myers Show. And we have some emails of the day. Sponsored by Dr. Steve Nelson and Central Point Family Dentistry.
Starting point is 00:39:20 CentralPoint Family Dentistry.com. By the way, if you are, even if you're not a client or a patient, of Dr. Stephen. I highly recommend him. If you need some specialized equipment, mouthwashes, in the water picks, things like that, they have a little kiosk there. Anybody can buy stuff at his cost. I want to make sure that your smile keeps going and that you can keep teeth being teeth instead of having them fall out and then, well, I guess you have teeth with a F instead.
Starting point is 00:39:46 So we don't want that. Central Point Family Dentistry.com. Richard Corbin writes me, we've been talking a lot about Measure 15-238, Creekside. A lot of people writing. Most don't seem to be real happy about this, but what Richard writes is long ago, Pat Nixon came to this area and handed over the keys to a large chunk of land to Jackson County. Oh, Richard Nixon's first lady at that time, right? This was land that was obtained by the Pittman-Robinson Act. In the 1970s, amendments to the act created a 10% tax on handguns and ammo as well as an 11% tax on archery.
Starting point is 00:40:23 It was also mandated that half of the money from each of the new taxes be used to educate and train hunters by the creation and maintenance of hunter safety classes. Well, the land handed over to the county, Richard Wrights, was part of the old Camp White military reservation. Three 600 rifle ranges, yard rifle ranges were on the land, but only one covered by the Pittman Robinson Act. The land was to be used only for firearms ranges, but a cart track was added and later on the drag strip. How the county bypassed the requirements as to how that land could be used. I don't know, Richard writes, but he continues, The drag strip was going to bring in hordes of racers and buckets of money. The first couple of years, it did appear as if that was going to happen,
Starting point is 00:41:09 but it didn't take long for the racers to bypass Jackson County and go on to the Portland area where better facilities and more money were to be had. The dragstrip still continues to be used now, but the pot at the end of the rainbow never materialized. The point being, now, how long before the appeal of the ball field and convention center fades, and it faces the same fate as the drag strip? That's an interesting point, Richard.
Starting point is 00:41:35 Richard Corbett, writes that this morning. If Ron and Medford saying, Bill, I have some concerns about this project, Medford does need a hotel and conference center in the downtown area, but I'm not sure we need a minor league baseball team. Eugene has turned down an offer. to host the ball team or continue hosting them, I'd like to know why the deal was turned down and is Medford large enough to support the ball team? That's a big question here, Ron. And then
Starting point is 00:42:01 there's the matter of funding this project. Almost old government projects tend to end up costing more than originally anticipated. What happens if the project gets halfway finished and runs out of money? Who will be on the hook? I'd feel more comfortable with this project if we had some solid answers to these questions. Now, as to why Eugene didn't want to do it, taxpayers said no for one thing, Ron.
Starting point is 00:42:26 They turned down, you know, a bonding authority to build them a brand new stadium. And there are other people who have told me on good authority that one of the challenges that Eugene Emerald's had is that there's a lot of sports going on up there and everything in Eugene Springfield is
Starting point is 00:42:42 duck, duck, duck, duck. You go to the ducks, you go to the ducks, and that they sucked all the sports oxygen out of the out of the room and they figured that we're you know hey we're prime for the taking on something like that like we have more room and more oxygen for baseball I guess they think that's what is is going on there but yeah the conference center probably could be of more utility use than the ball field but yet the two are tied together on this I don't know if they do seem to be tied to the hip at the moment appreciate the email bill of billmyershow.com
Starting point is 00:43:16 And let's see, Carlton writes me about New York. And Bill, the citizens will get what they think they voted for. Meanwhile, the businesses that still remain will start to use coyotes to smuggle their businesses out of New York State, thus leaving no source of income to the city or state. However, to make good on their political promise, a chicken in every pot, as they stroke their potpipes while watching the faux chicken cook. Now have a nice day. Hans Albuquerque writes me, Bill, national debt.
Starting point is 00:43:44 ironic to see a story about the bulging national debt buried way down the list in the news today growing by a trillion dollars in only two months now we're up to 38 trillion so much for doge and let's get that dang government open so we can spend faster well taken betty writes me bill i love it pbs is flooding the airways and the internet wanting donations
Starting point is 00:44:07 they should have hooked up with a daily courier that guy keeps begging for dollars for his wonderful newspaper at all the awards he's won. That's why he's begging for more dollars. No one's buying it. And let's see. Oh, Hans also adds another one on C cucumbers. This one made me laugh. In Seaside, Oregon, Fox News reports that Cucumbers
Starting point is 00:44:25 by the thousands are washing ashore. How appropriate for Oregon to have an invasion of an asexual bottom dweller scavenger that can't find its way back home. Hans, I'm going to give you a real American salute on that one. You make me laugh with that comment. All right.
Starting point is 00:44:44 We have another quick call before news here. Hi, good morning. Who's this? Hey, good morning, Bill. Hey, this is Scott from Eagle Point. Yes, Scott. What's up? I'm a special driver.
Starting point is 00:44:54 I road race in Portland and Seattle and other tracks around. I call in up here, honestly, and I wanted to comment on the sports park, Jackson County Sports Park. Yeah, what Richard was writing about there, that that was also going to be a golden, you know, a golden gush of money. Right, right. Right. Well, it has vendors out there.
Starting point is 00:45:14 there and right now the one that's why the most popular is the drifters and the track has been expanded uh there's the master plan was for a road course in nascar style racing but various promoters have come and gone and the cost to to pay the returns off the uh drag strip just kept going up so if there's a major investor even if it was the city of medford yes it would draw more people plus there's softball uh out there as well in White City. Everybody, I think, is set and watched, you know, the softball. So there's a great place. Work with the county. All right. Thanks for the call. Scott. Good to hear from you.
