Starting point is 00:00:00 The Bill Meyer Show podcast is sponsored by Klausur drilling. They've been leading the way in southern Oregon well drilling for over 50 years. Find out more about them at Klausordrilling.com. Here's Bill Meyer. Mr. Outdoors is here, Greg Roberts, at rogueweather.com. Oregon Truck and Auto Authority, the sponsor of the outdoor report every Friday at about this time. And, boy, I'll tell you, we're going to be getting some weather. We'll talk about that here in just a minute with Greg.
Starting point is 00:00:23 Greg, I know that you used to be like one of the biggest trailblazers fans. I mean, you were big with them. You worked with them at various radio groups around here in Southern Oregon, a big thing. And then you dumped him a long, long time ago. And I don't think you ever really went back to it. I know you still watch it. I know you do watch an occasional football game. I'm not much of a sports guy.
Starting point is 00:00:49 I don't claim to know much about sports. But my point is when the Chauncey Billups fraud scam ends up coming up yesterday, and then he ends up being arrested, he's put on leave. not going to be the Trailblazers coach here for the time being. And then another 30-something people arrested. And we have the various crime families, the mafioso types, that are being implicated in this one, too. And what is your overall impression of this? To me, it's part of a growing sports betting culture, which has been embraced openly for quite some time.
Starting point is 00:01:24 And I can't help but think that it's a natural outcropping of that, but maybe you see it differently. What are you thinking? No, actually, I don't disagree with you that much. And, yeah, for full disclosure, at various points in my radio career, was a programming director for sports stations and had a close working relationship with the trailblazers, especially Dick Vardaniga. And I would work with them. I put the blazers on wherever I could.
Starting point is 00:01:57 It just, it was a natural fit. And then 2017 hit, and most people think of the big upheaval in the NFL with Colin Kaepernick, the same thing was happening in the NBA. And I, you know, while I did get back to watching some NFL games, I never went back to watching the NBA. So when the news broke yesterday morning, it at first it kind of did show. me only in the sense that it was the Trailblazers and Chauncey Billups being right on the, at the very tip of all of this, you know, but it also didn't, because odd things had been happening in the NBA for quite a few years.
Starting point is 00:02:46 Well, the implication, though, is that some games have been getting thrown sometimes. Yeah, and, you know, then this hits, which, by the way, they also said that the first group of 34 arrested yesterday, which had happened even before the press conference, they said that's the tip of the iceberg. The investigation is ongoing. More people are likely going to be arrested and charged, and they are looking across the entire sports world, and everybody in their dog is now speculating about the NFL, even though nobody with the NFL was arrested yesterday and names were released, the NBA and the NFL are the two most glaring examples where even a casual sports fans can watch things and go, wait a minute, that doesn't make any sense.
Starting point is 00:03:37 The NFL for decades has tried to set up the situation that on any given Sunday, okay, but in the last few years, last five years for sure, things have happened that even the any given Sunday thing, you kind of start scratching your head over some results. I'm thinking at some point in time here, we're going to see NFL guys getting arrested and charged in this thing because, you know, what they said at the press conference that's still ongoing investigation and it's deep and it's broad. And oh, by the way, this definitely was not Donald. Trump motivated. They definitely laid out the timeline, and it started in the Biden administration. No kidding. So this is just the culmination of a long-term FBI push.
Starting point is 00:04:34 You know, we were sitting here watching this press conference, you know, Terry and I, and I told her, I said, man, they've been doing this for years because you don't, you don't go into, especially in New York, it's not easy to penetrate into those. crime families and get people deep enough inside that they could pull the kind of information that they did. Yeah, that takes a very long process. Oh, and while they were doing the press conference, I got reminded of exactly how old I was when they immediately off the top as they started laying out what happened, they said
Starting point is 00:05:16 Kosa Nostra. Uh-huh. I haven't heard that term being used in the news for a long time, buddy. Yeah, as soon as I heard them say that, I was like, oh, they're talking the big Italian mob here. They're not talking Russians, they're not talking Asians, they're not talking anybody but the Italian traditional godfather, if you will, mobs. And then when they started the roll call, it was mainly, it was four of the five, that the, Big five, Costa Nostra, Italian mob families in New York were involved in this. It'll be an interesting time to see and follow these cases or so.
Starting point is 00:06:02 I mean, my experience with the mob, of course, everybody knew about it in Pittsburgh when I was growing up in the 1960s, 1970s. But our experience with that at the time was usually like, you know, we got a nice for Cody, and it fell off the back of a truck. It's a good deal. You know, that was our experience that everybody knew about. Everybody knew someone like that in the neighborhood, right? Everybody had that back east. And especially, again, back there, absolutely. And, you know, then, too, look at what this is, gambling rackets.
Starting point is 00:06:37 Well, the mob has been involved in that from the time they set up operations here in America. I'll be really curious to see what happens here because there's been such a, I couldn't help but think that, Well, to me, I was looking at the rise of the huge sports betting actions and the rise of the sites and the rise of the betting sites and all the rest of it as something akin to what happened with Oregon's culture when we decided, hey, go ahead, do street drugs. What could go wrong? Yeah, and it was pretty funny because reporters, oh my gosh, any more, you know, these type of press conferences, you will hear some of the dumbest questions asked. they just couldn't get it through their heads. They kept asking the question was, well, were the sports books involved, like the big ones through the casinos and stuff? And they kept saying over and over again, they said, no, and actually the sports books were victims here. Because while they weren't directly involved, they took losses because of what the mob was doing, rigging the NBA game.
Starting point is 00:07:48 It actually hurt the, how shall we say, quote-unquote, legal sports books. Oh, yeah, the bookies, the sports books want clean games. They want that because they're playing odds. They want honest odds and honest. And, of course, this makes you then wonder when people complain now. I know people like to complain about, hey, that ref was a bad call. You have to wonder if it goes into that, into that sort of situation. And boy, I'll tell you what, if the shoe ever.
Starting point is 00:08:18 drops and they discover officials are involved, I think that would be a true kiss-a-death situation for any league that their officials are proved to be involved in this. Because bad enough that it's the players, really bad that it's coaches, officials. Yeah, I think that you would see a league totally collapsed if people thought the officials were in on it, too. I would agree with you on that one. And the part that makes me just to scratch my head is that the pay rates are pretty darn good in most of these leagues, you know? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:59 What is it? You know, again, I forget exactly how many millions Chauncey Billups is getting on his coaching contract with the trailblazers. He's not the highest paid coach in the league by any stretch, but he sure isn't the least. And yeah, you know, you just kind of have to wonder what goes through people's minds, but, you know, I did hear a couple of guys talk about the fact that, well, there's other things involved besides just the money factor. It's the fact that you can get away with something. It's, you know, you name it. There's all. Yeah, well, you're type A part. Most of the sports folks
Starting point is 00:09:40 are type A personalities for the most part, right? You know, aggressive, you know, testosterone. their own fueled risk takers. You know, it's a natural kind of outcropping of a risk-taking behavior, but still, you just kind of shake your head over it. Well, we'll stay on the story. I just thought it was interesting. I knew, like I said, you were a huge Blazers fan back in the day, and I hadn't heard much since that time.
Starting point is 00:10:02 So why don't we shift here and shift the focus? Because now we're actually going to do the outdoor report. We were doing like an indoor outdoor report with sports, right? You know, that kind of thing. But why did you give it? So are we still looking for as much? rain here. I've heard reports of as much as three inches in southern Oregon, which is a high amount of rain. I don't know if we're looking at that this weekend or not.
Starting point is 00:10:24 Well, that depends entirely on what location you want to look at. Yes, they're, I mean, high-end output, let's say O'Brien, maybe as far east as Cave Junction, three inches of rain out of this first storm set happening. Yeah, I probably wouldn't be greatly, surprised by that. Medford is going to be what Medford always is with the winter storm situation. Our donut hole is going to form, and Medford is going to be probably among the drier locations west of the Cascades. But still, Medford National Weather Service is projecting 0.9 tenths of an inch, which is darn near close to an inch of rain, and at this time of the year, that would basically be nearly the entire average annual rainfall for October, arriving in an approximately 72-hour window.
Starting point is 00:11:28 So you would definitely refer to this then as the proverbial atmospheric river coming to Southern America. Without any question. In fact, I did a live yesterday on Rogue Weather's Facebook page and showed people exactly. why, yes, this is an atmospheric river. I kind of back away from using that term now because I just get tired of fighting the battle. And what I mean by the battle is there are a number of people out there that refuse to accept any new descriptions
Starting point is 00:11:59 of weather events. These people, I call them the cement heads. You're never going to change their mind. If they agree that it's anything, they're going to insist on calling it a Pineapple Express. I put up a video from National Weather Service explaining atmospheric river its origins and what they're attempting to do to describe it because I wasn't sure when that term was first used. Turned out it was 1994.
Starting point is 00:12:29 I know the why they're using it because Pineapple Express is not indicative of all atmospheric rivers, although all pineapple expresses would be atmospheric rivers, got it, okay. This one coming in is not originating from Hawaii or anywhere close to it. So it is an atmospheric river, but it's absolutely not a pineapple express. And part of the reason you can say this is, look where snow levels are going to wind up being at their lowest. Main snow levels at their lowest will be around 4,500 feet. If we were in December, January with this type of an event, with the cold air support it's going to have, we would be talking about valley floor snow and significant valley floor snow.
Starting point is 00:13:21 No kidding. All right. No kidding. Well, we're not going to worry about having to work outside too much of the yard this weekend. You're helping me out. I'll be in the garage working on vintage electronics. Yeah, working in the yard. Now, if you are a deer hunter.
Starting point is 00:13:37 which I am, and you still have a tag, which I do. What's coming this weekend is an absolute godsend because this is the weather that gives hunters the most success at getting a tag on their buck. Even though it's windy? I mean, will the bucks be on the move then? Yeah, they're going to be on the move. Deer are going to start moving around. They're going to be looking for warmer, drier locations. I mean, it's just, it's well known among hunters.
Starting point is 00:14:06 And by the way, the wind situation, you know, it might be roaring and screaming up on the ridges, and then you get on the backside of the mountains, and it's a little windy, but it's not bad, and the deer are up and moving. So this isn't one of those situations. Yes, there are high wind warnings out on the coast. Gus getting as high as 65 miles an hour, maybe higher on the headlands. We do have wind advisories in the Shasta Valley and east of the casket. and winds will be peaking in gusts somewhere 50 to 55 miles an hour.
Starting point is 00:14:42 But in the Cascades and the Ciscuits, it's only a winter weather advisory. It's not a winter storm warning. And the biggest reasons are the winds aren't going to be as high to meet winter storm criteria. And the snowfall will not be heavy enough in duration and accumulation to meet winter storm. criteria. There will be times of some heavy snow coming down, but on the whole, this is not one of those type of storms that typically is going to make the deer bet up and become totally inactive. So, you know, you just kind of, you kind of have to be able to find your spot. Yeah, well, it's that sweet spot then of the weather when it comes right down, you know,
Starting point is 00:15:30 it's aggressive enough to keep them on the move and not so aggressive that they just want and hide and not get out at all, right? Yeah, and it's also, it's absolutely going to change where we're hunting and how we're hunting because now we're going from where they typically are high altitude, 5,000 feet plus more summer range. Now we're going to be starting to focus on the winter range areas where we typically see the most deer where they get hold up as they get ready for the winter. The elk are already down there.
Starting point is 00:16:06 And in fact, this weekend, we're probably, for as much as we will be deer hunting, we're probably going to be elk scouting, getting ready for the coming elk seasons, because two things. This kind of weather happening now, definitely elk are already down low. There are more where we expect to see them in the winter. But these cloudy, cool overcast days where it's kind of darker, help tend to stay active longer in the day, and in fact may be active throughout the day. So we're going to have a lot of things in our favor this weekend as we've got multiple things
Starting point is 00:16:46 we're looking to accomplish. Well, I hope you go out there and get your buck, have a good time. I know you will have a great time one way or the other because just getting out in the woods. Well, yeah, especially because of the guy I'm with, you know, there's always that. Okay, very good. Hey, Greg, I'm going to be, well, I ended up canceling my trip out to the Hot Springs because of the potential for sketchy weather next weekend. It looks like it might be okay,
Starting point is 00:17:08 but I'm actually still fine with going to the coast, because going to the coast is a lot of fun this time of year, so I'm going to do that next Friday. Can we do the report next Thursday instead of Friday, because I'll be off next Friday? Yeah, absolutely. I'm just trying to think off the top of my head, and I know I don't have any obvious conflicts,
Starting point is 00:17:27 so yeah, let's do this thing next Thursday. All right, so it'll be a conspiracy theory Thursday outdoor report, okay? We'll see you then, Greg. Take care. Yeah, and I may even try and find something conspiracy outdoors. I mean, there's always something out there. I just, I'll do some digging to find it.
Starting point is 00:17:42 All right, Greg. Thanks for the call. We'll talk to you next Thursday, okay? You got it, Bill. Outdoor reports sponsored by Oregon Truck and Auto Authority on Airway Drive in Medford, 730, KMED. Kevin from Klausur drilling. Kevin, can you drill a well in the wintertime? You bet.
Starting point is 00:17:57 Wentgold.com. You're hearing the Bill Myers Show on 106. 3, KMED. Happy to take your call, 770563. I just wanted to give you a warning. Governor Kotech has issued yet another executive order. I still don't understand it, but it just came out directing staff agencies
Starting point is 00:18:20 to take urgent action to promote the resilience of our communities and natural and working lands and waters. I can't help but I'm going to have to go through the whole 10-page announcement here at some point, but let's see. If I know Governor Kotech, it probably means a meter for your water well. I can't help, you know, we'll get Oweb involved in this, and it is time. It is time.
Starting point is 00:18:47 By the way, I'm not saying she is. I'm just saying if I understand the governor, like I think we understand the governor. It's like, what could we do to possibly make life more miserable for you under the guise of climate resilience. It's kind of like, you know, has a little spinner on her desk. Water meter well. Okay. We'll see.
Starting point is 00:19:17 I guess I'm just completely, I'm just having fun with you this morning. Okay, do not report that as, hey, Bill said they're going to put the meter on the water well. But anyway. Hello, Scott, professional driver. What's on your mind today, huh? Welcome. Well, I just wanted to rain in and on the weather that Greg's reporting to and that this may be our first real blast of a bit of wind.
Starting point is 00:19:39 There'll be falling limbs. There will be water on the road. Yep. You know, prepare for winter driving conditions, the warm jacket. How do you think about this, just having some way to wipe off your windows because you get fog inside? And also, of course, the Ranex product for your white. wash your fluids, top up all
Starting point is 00:20:01 all your fluids. If you go to your mechanics, say, top up my fluid. Point well, take it. I think it's always a good advice. I would also add that I'm surprised how many people have no tools in their car, aren't you?
Starting point is 00:20:18 Point well, take it. I think it's all... Right. I mean, it's amazing. They think they drive something that drives itself, but if something goes wrong, they complain. Yeah, I have a nice emergency kid in the back of my car, and it's everything from emergency blankets. Now, the one thing that I do have to do is
Starting point is 00:20:37 get a little bit of emergency food. I do have emergency water in there, too, like you're always advertising or actually advocating, I should say. Right. Yeah, yeah. And you being a professional driver, you would know. But it's common sense. Appreciate the call, Scott. 770KMED.
Starting point is 00:20:53 It's fine. Your phone Friday. Let me go to the next call. Hi, good morning. Who's this? Hey, good morning, Bill. Who's this? Hello, Michael. Hello, Michael. What's on your mind? Oh, I just got a conspiracy for Craig Roberts, if he wants to check it out.
Starting point is 00:21:09 But it's the new MRNA rabies vaccine that they're dropping from the sky. Oh, yeah, there are a number of states that are taking that. It's a bait for the wildlife, and hopefully they're going to get the foxes and various other critters that have been having rising rates of rabies to take it. Yeah. You heard a conspiracy that they're going to activate the zombie apocalypse. All right. I'm having fun with you on this particular one. Yeah, we'll see the foxes getting up on their hind legs and doing the little stagger, right?
Starting point is 00:21:46 Doing the stagger. Well, that MRNA does shed to everything around it. Okay, well, right. I'll keep it in mind. The other thing you have to watch out for, though, is that the M. R&A would then give the animals opposable thumbs, and then all hell breaks loose. Yeah, my dog likes that one. Well, I know the cats would sure like that one, that's for sure.
Starting point is 00:22:11 Oh, my gosh, as if they don't get into enough trouble already. Hey, thanks for the call. I always enjoy the laugh. Hi, good morning. Who's this? Welcome. Hello. Hello.
Starting point is 00:22:20 Hi. Hey, Lucretia, how are things going on this morning with you? I have to have, I have to have your Ashland theme. ready you know you're not going to get the sunshine today though for the looks of it okay well you'd have to do that with the doctor you had on to um but you know a lot of people don't realize I have just the darker side of medicine I I sent this to you before in 1913 1913 this doctor is a physiologist which deals with the biochemical you know processes in the body and
Starting point is 00:22:57 and all that. They gave him this because he figured out if you put a little bit of soy or a little bit of egg album in there, you put the peanuts in with a vaccine, the person will, in time, develop anaphylactic shock. Now, he said that if you feed the baby, the peanuts, maybe they won't have this, just give them a little bit. But I'll bet you anything that the babies that do die, because it's often, it takes time. But the babies that do die, they're probably naming it the death for another reason.
Starting point is 00:23:33 You know, I wouldn't be surprised. I actually have to say, Lucretia, write this down on the calendar that I might somewhat agree with you on this. All right, because remember when it comes to vaccine policy in this world, in this world the current way it's been, no matter what may be happening, it's never the vaccine first. It can never be the vaccine first. okay all right so you know write this down on the calendar okay i'm only thinking you're a little crazy today not massive crazy how about just a little bit just a little bit all right and by the way that was a uh 1913 you were talking about this um 1913 Nobel Prize given to Dr. Charles Robert Rishay and how to cause allergies to autoimmune conditions with
Starting point is 00:24:22 vaccines yeah interesting story and thanks for sharing that 770566 3-3. Write that down on the calendar today. Now, I've often said this about Lucretia that if even 10% of the stuff that she talks about and brings to the show, then I sit there and I'll roll my eyes a little bit. If even 10% of it has some basis in it, that's a
Starting point is 00:24:47 pretty interesting world we're living in, okay? Let me go to the next call. Hi, good morning. Who's this? Welcome. Yeah, Ron Grasspass. Ron, great to have you. What's on your mind? Thank you. Regarding the Trump-Canada issue on tariffs, going back to Reagan's time, they didn't have many communists before Reagan, who were implementing a slowdown on trade on America's side, allowing the other nations to ramp up their trade differences between the U.S. and them. Oh, with NAFTA and the various other trade agreements back at that time, we pretty much, well, we pretty much enabled the competition, didn't we? We did, but that's the thing.
Starting point is 00:25:26 They had an even playing field like on a baseball game or other game, where they have 20 points, 20 home runs to their favor before the game even starts, and then you have one given to you. So this is the way it has ramped up over the many years that our communist leaders have given the enemies that it is the other nations. Do you think it was unwise? So should President Trump be impetuous, though, like he is being in, and just saying, hey, no trade talks because of this ad, though. I mean, that's, that felt a little, that felt a little weird to me.
Starting point is 00:26:04 There's a little bit of difference between when Reagan was, the president, and when Trump. Oh, no, I understand that. I understand that. But, okay, Ottawa puts out a television ad. So what? Well, the so what is that they are, are playing a, I guess you, call it a false information play in the sense that Reagan had a certain number of tariffs much lower than what we have today that our opponent nations have.
Starting point is 00:26:35 Okay, all I'm focusing on is the reaction. It's like, it's like I'm detecting a whole lot of sensitivity on this. When there's a claim that he's concerned that it's influencing the Supreme Court, I'm thinking that's total nonsense, isn't it? Yes, I think it probably is. Okay, so we agree on that much then. So why would you go in that direction right now? That doesn't make sense to me.
Starting point is 00:27:00 Well, that's some kind of a claim, I think, by the Democrats who are trying to stir the water and make mud. No, that's what President Trump suggested. I'm not saying the Democrats said that. No, I think Trump started out by saying, look, we have an uneven playing field. We need to level it out so that we have a chance to sell stuff into their country without having to pay their tariffs, which we didn't have near as high a tariffs as they did. Okay. All right. Thanks. I appreciate the call. And we're going to keep that going. Ron, thanks for that. I'm burning some daylight. So we'll catch up on the rest of the news.
Starting point is 00:27:32 And then I'm happy to take your calls if you want to talk about the trade thing or there's anything else on your mind. If you're on hold, I'll get right to you first. Okay. This is the Bill Meyer's show. When it comes to your roof, getting started shouldn't be complicated. At pressure point roofing, we make it easy with... Body Shop Manager of Lithia Body and Paint, and I'm on 106.7, KMED. I love open phone time on Find Your Phone Friday, 770563. Before I get to that, though, if you're in Medicare, I'll be in Medicare next year. I'm already looking at how complex and confusing it can be that enrollment's on right now through December 7th.
Starting point is 00:28:07 And it is important for you to check things out, get the best price and benefit changes, you know, find out what's going on. And you might be getting hosed and you don't know about it. And so you need someone to help you negotiate all this and navigate all the confusion. So that's why you call Lynn Barton at Sky Park Insurance. Her numbers, 541-49-09-0-958, 541-4-9-0-9-58. She helped Linda do that a while back, and it was so helpful. You can also find out more about her at Skypark INS.com. And like I said, it doesn't cost any more to have an agent.
Starting point is 00:28:42 So talk with Lynn, and I think that she'll help you navigate that in a great experience. Okay, 541-49-0-9-58. Remember, Lynn's working for you essentially for free. It doesn't cost more to have the agent than to sit around at home and try to figure it out yourself and be really confused. Okay, Skypark, INS.com. Let me grab a quick call here. Cherry, you've got a couple of shows we can watch this weekend
Starting point is 00:29:07 as it's all raining and storming. What do you say? Oh, yes. The mayor of Kingstown, you've got to watch that series. I started it. It came on in 2021, and it's really, really, really exciting and good, and I highly recommend it on Showtime. And the other thing is, if you go to Brookings, you've got to go to Goldilocks Antique Store. I have never found anything as good as that.
Starting point is 00:29:43 Now Goldilocks antique store, is that the one that has a bunch of separate booths? Because I go to that one that's over by, what was it, Maddie's Pancake House or whatever it is in that neighborhood. Is that the what you're talking about? It's on Chetco, Chetco Road or whatever. And if I'm not really sure of the town, but it's got every kind of antique you could imagine. And I was only going to spend like, you know, 50 bucks. I spent 800 bucks. Okay, well, I have to stay away from that then, all right, see?
Starting point is 00:30:16 But thank you, thank you for the warning. Thank you. And then one thing on the ballot, on the ballot we just got. Yeah, 15-238. What are you thinking? Well, it says in favor of it. And then on the other thing, it says in favor of it, it doesn't have an opposite, you know, report on it. So it's like you've got to vote for it, period.
Starting point is 00:30:44 And guess what? I didn't. I said, no. Because I, you know, we've got enough junk in this town. We don't need more and more hotels and motels and crack addict casinos or whatever. I mean, we're done. It's just already, it's getting. Well, you know, well, the way it's being sold, though, is that.
Starting point is 00:31:09 This is an attempt to try to bring something of a positive bent, though. Don't you see any particular value? By the way, I'm not shelling for them. I'm just trying to, you know, be fair about it. I don't think this is the absolute worst plan I've ever seen for revitalizing a rather semi-decrepit section of Medford. That's all. Well, I understand that, but I think just keep it clean like Bear Creek Park.
Starting point is 00:31:35 Have you ever seen a more beautiful park than Bear Creek? And how do they keep it that? And there's other parks around here that are incredible. But they're parks. They're beautiful for kids and old people like me, man. I'm so old. I can't even remember the next sentence. So.
Starting point is 00:31:54 Quite well-take-it. Appreciate the call. Thank you very much, Jerry. Be well. 770563. Let me go through here. Randy's on the case here. Randy, this has a question or a comment on the
Starting point is 00:32:07 the Creekside Quarter also, please. Yes, I do. And, you know, it's not that I'm against that at all, and I'd like to see Medford revitalized, but I understand that several years ago, ODOT, attempted or wanted to extend Biddle South, you know, under the freeway there, which would have taken it through Hawthorne Park,
Starting point is 00:32:33 and they were not able to proceed because they found out that, that land had been deeded originally as long as it remained a city or a public park. The way it was referred to, now according to what Nick Card said on last week's show, I'm just going with what he said, that land was actually purchased from Pacific Power, and it wasn't necessarily deeded. So maybe there's a small portion of it that came from the, the Lions, but I know that the Lions Club did deed overland at Roxy Ann Peak, you know,
Starting point is 00:33:14 the Prescott Park area. But this is according to what Nick Card said last weekend on the show when we were discussing it, that that land was actually purchased so that there is no issue with what they're wishing to do there. I'm just going with what he said, okay? Well, the person I talked to was involved in the attempted development of Bill Road. So I don't know, whatever they ran into there, you know, why are these people not running into the same issue? I would have thought ODOT would have the power to come in and just, you know, take the land if they wanted. Yeah, I would have to look more into this.
Starting point is 00:33:49 I have forgotten about it or never really looked deeply into that plan. I don't even remember that plan, actually. Do you remember how long back that was? You know, I don't. It's probably 10, 15 years. Okay, all right. Hey, appreciate the tip, though. but I'm just going with what the counselor card said last week okay and I have not received any
Starting point is 00:34:10 additional or been able to look into any other you don't find out I would figure though that the the city would have to be dawding its eyes and crossing its teas if they wished to do that okay let me go to Glenn R. Shambal Glenn haven't heard for you for a while what's going on what's happening hi Bill and I don't have a lot of info on this but I thought people might might be interested. So the press in Canada has announced that the big corporations in Canada are going to have access to intelligence from the government, which sounded interesting to me, considering all the goings on that are right today with Trump and Canada and all those issues.
Starting point is 00:34:50 And I have to tell you, Bill, I know the guys from T.C. Energy, and they're the biggest corporation in Southern Oregon. Now, T.C. Energy, that's the pipeline, right? Yes, and a whole lot of other infrastructure. And that's what they're worried about. They're worried about bad guys shown up and blowing the power plants up, that kind of... Well, you look at what... Well, even look at our natural gas infrastructure for the most part and in power.
Starting point is 00:35:15 Most of it is... Well, I'll give an example. At times I drive up to Gilbert Peak to change filters and do maintenance at KBXG in Josephine County. and you know and you pass underneath these these massive power line interties that are you know going to to various areas and and you just start thinking about it sometime like so much of our infrastructure rather it's just right out there in the open on the public lands it's easy to get to it's easy to get to right in fact I'm standing on the 12 inch thousand TSI TC energy line right now And so this whole event that we're talking about, this is an old discussion goes back to 9-11.
Starting point is 00:36:01 Immediately after 9-11, everything was drawn in, maps, everything were taken down, so no one could find anything. So it sounds like we're back to that kind of age. And I've got to tell you, Bill, I'm good friends with people from TC Energy. They did condemn my farm, or their people did years ago. We get along real well. Next month, we'll have a national conference, New Orleans, and T.C. Energy will definitely be there. But I thought it was an interesting item, too, because Jackson County doesn't have a lot of resource. I mean, we have a couple of gas lines, and that's about it.
Starting point is 00:36:40 And then it's over to the electric. So this is a pretty big statement coming out of Canada. They must have some kind of worry to talk in the fashion they are this morning. Yeah, I would certainly be concerned, too. Thanks for sharing that story. Is there, like, some mainstream press on that that I should go take a look at, anything? Yeah, I think that you hit Google and you'll probably get a lot of information. All right, Glenn, I appreciate that.
Starting point is 00:37:10 Thank you very much. 770KMED. He's here. Hello, morning. Who's this? Hello? Hey, Bill. Hi.
Starting point is 00:37:17 Hey, Bill. Hey, this is Red from the Hills. Hi, Red from the Hills. What's on your mind? Well, you know, I noticed, gosh, you know, Breast Cancer Awareness Month has been really roaring out there in the public sphere. Yeah, a lot of stories, a lot of news stories being done, the Pink Ribbons, the Mommy and Me stories. Sure, a lot of that. In fact, even male breast cancer.
Starting point is 00:37:40 I saw K-O-B-I did a story about male breast cancer, which does happen, but maybe like less than 1% of it, but still it's something. Well, I've noticed there doesn't seem to be any pushback against it, Bill. Should there be? I was just wondering. You know, everything has pushback, right? It's always a counterbalance in life. And I just noticed there was nobody filling that voice. Okay.
Starting point is 00:38:08 What pushback would you think needs to be done against breast cancer awareness or whatever it is? Well, I thought about, just wondering about your input on this, starting an organization, calling it men against breast cancer awareness. Men's, men, Mabba? Mabka. Mabka, okay. Yeah. Why would you want to be against it, though, is what I'm wondering. I'm trying to, I'm trying to.
Starting point is 00:38:39 No, no, no, no. You don't, well, it's just against being aware. That's all. Oh, okay. All right. I'm going to consult my pillow on that one. Thank you for the call. It's a 7-7-0K media. I'll grab one more. Hi, good morning. Who's this? Hello. This Steve. Hey, Steve. Oh, boy, someone's on the road, and they're listening to the radio. Hi, who's this? Good morning.
Starting point is 00:39:03 Oh, this Steve. Oh, hey, Steve. Welcome. What's on your mind? Well, this is the other 50-year veteran on the road. Hey, you and I were talking about the RNG pipeline last week, and I said, I think where our suspicions were probably true to fact. I mean, it's reclaiming natural gas. That's what the R&G is. Yeah, I remember that call.
Starting point is 00:39:28 Yeah, reclaiming or recycled natural gas. And that's what they're trying to do with that pipeline out of the Dry Creek landfill, right? Yes, exactly. Well, anyway, so I thought I'd come up with the answers for it. It's what they do instead of just burning it off into the atmosphere. they're putting in this line, just to kind of, I guess, kind of dampen down any suspicions about a gas pipeline, so to speak, but it's pretty innovative to where they're going to mix it with the other natural gas.
Starting point is 00:40:02 That makes sense. So is it a partnership with Avista, from what you can tell, some sort? Yes, yes, exactly. It is. In fact, we were up there on one of the sites up there in Avista. actually showed up in inspection and then. So, you know, people don't think about this. You know, when you just throw your garbage into a trash can, you don't think about what happens to it after that. You're right about that. Sure. No, yeah. I mean, it ends up here in the
Starting point is 00:40:31 landfill. Well, okay, so what else do we do with it besides instead of letting everything burn off into the atmosphere, they're typing it, mixing it, and then the station is going to hand up down there at the like where the recycle of recology has all their bins stored and their trash cans
Starting point is 00:40:51 Oh yeah that place yeah you always see it from Highway 62 yeah you can see that sure
Starting point is 00:40:55 well yeah Michael's is a part of that right there and so anyway trying to make a long story
Starting point is 00:41:01 short that's where you and I left off and I did some more research and asking and that's where we end up
Starting point is 00:41:08 so it's all a good thing I mean they're making use out of the garbage up here the landfill. Oh, I think it makes much more sense to tie it in with a Vista rather than either
Starting point is 00:41:19 just burning it off or flaring it, you know, which it used to be what was done with a lot of that. It's a source of energy. And, you know, and frankly, it's kind of a waste to let that methane go away. And the methane, I mean, once they get it out of the landfill, it's filtered and they put the odor in it like they do with all the other stuff, just mix it with a vista? How can we be upset about that? That just makes perfect sense. All right? Well, so anyway, any of our listeners out there in the universe wonder what's going on with all their garbage. Well, this is it. This is actual renewable resource. And I would imagine then that the landfill is also using a portion of that energy maybe to run equipment too, I would
Starting point is 00:42:02 imagine. They'll be part of it. Absolutely. I don't know how much of their equipment up here is run off a natural gas, but it would make. sense to me that they would. All right. Appreciate the call and thanks for the update on that and you're bird dog in that, trying to figure out what the RNG was all about. This is KMED, KMED, H.D, one Eagle Point, Medford, KVXG grants pass. You're on the Bill Maher's show.
