Starting point is 00:00:00 The Bill Myers Show podcast is sponsored by Klausur drilling. They've been leading the way in Southern Oregon well drilling for over 50 years. Find out more about them at Klausordrilling.com. And you're waking up with the Bill Myers Show. And it's open phone time on Pebble in Your Shoe Tuesday. Happy to Take you 7705-633. Matt, I'm glad you called. One thing I was going to mention, you know, you're the reason I didn't click to buy a new computer this weekend.
Starting point is 00:00:24 You know that? The last weekend. It takes tremendous willpower. It really does. They, because I was looking for a new laptop, O-L-A-D, you know, the nicer display, all that kind of stuff are going, oh, man, I can get this. They got huge sales on it. I'm peppered with it.
Starting point is 00:00:40 And I'm just thinking, I have, there's nothing wrong with my two computers. They're fine. You know, 32 gigabytes of memory, two terabyte drives and things like, it's never enough, right? You know, it's like motorcycles. It's like cars. It doesn't matter what it. I will say, I'm taking my own. own advice. I told my wife, I don't need one more flannel shirt for Christmas. Oh, good.
Starting point is 00:01:04 I needed one tool. And it was, I went on to this place, call out to Project Farm, Best Reviews for Tools. He does a great job. Project Farm, everything from batteries to oil, he does it all. It's really good stuff on YouTube. Project Farm on YouTube. But I need a drill bit. It just seems like every time I buy drill bits at Hobo Freight, the stupid things snap off. They get dull after one drilling in the metal, and I just, he said, Bosch, and I forget which one, M-42, they're 10 times better, and he goes through the whole review. He does everything with those drill bits. I would never do, so I spent like 50 bucks. I bought a really nice set of drill bits that were Bosch. I'll keep that in mind because I've been looking for that, and I'm not happy with most
Starting point is 00:01:52 of the drill bits that I have because they snap pretty easily, and I'm not exactly an abusive tool user. You know, I'm not either, and I don't even. I use them. I use them a lot for wood projects, mostly, not so much for metal, but I do work on cars and then you have metal projects. Yeah, you've got to have that. You've got to have good tools, right? The one thing I was going to mention, though, is that right before I was ready to click on it, I just said, no, I'm not doing this. I'm not doing it. And I took the money that I had to set aside for a computer, and I put it in the 401k, right? So I just said, okay, I just take it away from me, okay? I don't want to see that money.
Starting point is 00:02:22 Well, I asked, did you actually say it out loud to yourself? Yes, I did. I said, what, what are you doing it's like you're falling sway to the hey here's the great deal click add it to your i gotta tell you matt if we had had this one back when we were kids i think i would have been bankrupt at 19 all in all seriousness that way i would have been bankrupt at 19 because it just would have been you would have been kept clicking just kept clicking just like the kids with their door dash and putting you know using clarna to get their meal delivery but anyway you call because you wanted to talk about your experience you wanted to defy Penn, Pacific Power.
Starting point is 00:03:00 This, I got to hear. People want to hear it, okay? Okay. In two regards. One, I think it's Aspland is the name of the company that trims the trees up here. I don't know if they're everywhere on Medford or whatever. Yeah. But I live in a rural area.
Starting point is 00:03:13 And when we first moved into this house, if the wind blew, the power went out. It's gotten better over the years. They're really trimming back the trees. And here's what I like. I have a couple of birch trees. and the power line runs from the pull on the street into my yard. I'm not like way off a drive or anything like that. So it's kind of a short run to my power pole and then into my panel.
Starting point is 00:03:38 And a really nice guy, and if he's listening, I hope I remembered your name right. Ricky, great guy about my age. We talked a little bit about trucks. He said, yeah, he goes, you know, we really need to trim it. And I joked to them. I said, it's so funny. I literally is going to call a tree guy next week and ask him to come out and send this thing up because it was getting big and it was starting to droop.
Starting point is 00:03:58 And so when they came out, I talked to him again. I said, hey, can you take a little off the top and maybe thin it out? He goes, oh, yeah, it only takes about 15 minutes. Sure enough, two guys came out, saw this, that the other day, trimmed it up really nice, made it look good. And so he actually came to my door, rang the bell on my gate. Good. And so I'm super polite, good guy down to Earth. You really liked him.
Starting point is 00:04:22 I'm glad to hear that. So, Real American Salute to the guy that knocked on your door. door. And if he's listening, I think he does listen to you. Ricky, good job, man. All right. Thank you, Matt. Take care. All right. All right, go back. 770, K&D. Open phones on Pebble in Your Shoot Tuesday. Hi, who's this? Hey, Bill, it's Brad here. Happy electricity morning to you. Happy electricity. Every morning with electricity is civilization. Just remember. It's great. I got to tell you, your theory on the whole Venezuela CIA, I have never heard that before.
Starting point is 00:04:54 we've got to look into that. That's an amazing idea you've come up with. Well, I want to give credit where credits do, okay? I did not come up with that theory. But James Howard Cuncelor, do you ever read him, James Howard Cuncelor? And he was the author of The Long Emergency. I had him on years ago. I need to get him back on. But he has a blog out there. He was floating that. And I was reading that over the weekend. And I have to tell you, there is, he makes a pretty good case that what, you may be witnessing in Venezuela is more of that. It's a CIA-run kind of town.
Starting point is 00:05:32 And, of course, we've also heard the rumors in the stories, and some of it approved, by the way, in which you have government agencies that are involved in drug dealing and drug running, right? We know about that, Air America. Remember back during Vietnam era, right? Air America. Oh, yes. Yeah, that sort of stuff. And maybe this is President Trump trying to upset the CIA's drug operations for all we know.
Starting point is 00:05:54 under the guys of taking a bad guy out like Maduro. I'm just saying it's possibility. Possibility. So this is not conspiracy theory Thursday, but in that same vein, since you were talking about our electricity, this and that and the other with Herman Bergshager, we've got to talk about this electricity thing
Starting point is 00:06:15 because we've seen the cost per kilowatt go from $0.20 to now it's 16. sense. And set to go up even higher. Yeah. Yeah. So, and what's the main driver for that? Well, the main driver here in Oregon is because we're not producing cheap, affordable electricity anymore because we got rid of the Boardman plant. We're tearing our hydroelectric dams out, and we're buying more and more power off the grid at whatever market rate is, and we are buying more and more power with these ridiculous solar and wind installations that don't provide baseload power. Yeah, the plan is essentially the Oregon Energy Plan can be boiled down simply to there's going to be some greater fool willing to sell us power when we need it at all times. That's it.
Starting point is 00:07:05 Well, and Bill, here's a question in the same vein as your Venezuela thought is many of these outfits that are taking advantage of subsidies for these solar and wind installations are not even the United States corporations. how much money is all of this costing Oregon rate payers? Where is this money going, and what are these corporations doing with all that money? Because it's hundreds of millions of dollars. I don't have an answer to that. Could you bird dog that? I'd love to hear it, okay? I'd like to hear it, too, and I have it.
Starting point is 00:07:42 And the normal sources that I go to, nobody knows the answer to this. There's no place where you can go and find a list of all these companies that are getting a subject. And there's a lot of, I mean, there's a 200,000-acre panel farm that's supposed to be going in in Klamath County that turns out the land that they're putting it on is owned by China. So China bought that land to put this solar installation on with money that they're getting from Klamma Falls ratepayers. And hey, what a great place to hide a spy or two while you're at it. This is just crazy stuff going on, Bill. Appreciate the call. I would love it if you could
Starting point is 00:08:19 if you have an idea who I could talk to about that I will all right I'll take one more call and then we're going to do a quick break and then a diner 62 Real American quiz after that that's how we'll continue
Starting point is 00:08:30 the pebble on your shoe Tuesday hi good morning who's this hey Bill it's Steve Mattford Steve go ahead we couldn't talk to you last time with Herman fire away yeah it's okay okay on the boat deal
Starting point is 00:08:42 in Venezuela I happen to have a boat and I've fished for years So I understand a lot about boats, and the boats that they're using are specific to be able to go faster than anything that the Navy can put on the water, except maybe a nuclear aircraft carrier. Agreed. Could it go faster than a helicopter, a Coast Guard helicopter? Well, a helicopter would have to shoot them because it can't land a helicopter in the water. Yeah, I get that. They could put the stuff in fishing boats and send it out there, but those have all been.
Starting point is 00:09:17 interdicted. So the reason they're using these fast boats is that's a way to get away from being stopped and having the drugs confiscated in the people. Now, this is conjecture on my part. Sure. You look at those boats, a couple of them have four motors on them, outboard motors, and I don't know what they pay for a motor, but it's about $100 a horsepower, and some of those boats have a thousand horsepower on them. So they've got $100,000 worth of engines on those things, plus the boats, I'm sure, aren't too cheap. And they're like a commercial, other any commercial enterprise. They don't have a top on them. They don't have a cover on them because that would cut down on the weight. They're trying to maximize how much product they can ship. And so there are some
Starting point is 00:10:13 reasons I can see to do what they're doing. Okay. No, I'm willing to listen. I do think, though, that President Trump is risking himself politically over this, and I think there are a different way. I see that argument. Yeah. And it, now, of course, I don't know, maybe President Trump is almost baiting the system
Starting point is 00:10:37 saying, all right, okay, so what? I'm just going to do it anyway. What are you going to do about it? Who knows? That could be what's going on. Maybe that's the policy. I'm just not convinced that's necessarily the wise way to go. There's a lot at risk here.
Starting point is 00:10:51 I would hate to see another impeachment distraction, and it could be that just. One other quick point on the CIA. Okay, the CIA is run kind of like a monarchy. They have fiefdoms, and they have, you know, this guy's in charge of this area, and that guy's in charge of that area. I have a former client when I was a financial advisor who flew for Air America, and I currently know a guy who was a CIA operative in either Laos or Cambodia, I forget. What those guys do is so far beyond the pale that you couldn't write a movie script about what they do.
Starting point is 00:11:35 Even the crazy movie scripts we see about the CIA right now. don't even it's worse it's way wilder yeah because they're competing against each other the CIA feftoms you know trying to get money and
Starting point is 00:11:54 influence and move up in the in the chain of command or however they would do it in the CIA all right hey a good point thanks for sharing that experience there all right so 14 after 8 we're going to take a little break
Starting point is 00:12:08 here because it's time for the Diner 62 Real American Quiz. You would love to get this, wouldn't you? Of course you would. And it's a about Elton John, because it was this week at 1974, Elton John's greatest hits, number one. So let's see who we got here, and if we can get a winner out of this. Hello, Tom. How are you doing this morning? Good morning, Bill. Good morning, Tom. Elton John, born and raised as Reginald Kenneth Dwight in suburban London, kind of a chubby kid like me. And if you'd rearranged his DNA or his childhood environment just a little bit. He might have become
Starting point is 00:17:05 an RAF fighter pilot. Of course, that chubby part probably didn't help. But instead, his dad Stanley wanted young Reggie to follow his footsteps into the British military, but his mom, Shirley Dwight, loved Elvis Presley Records. It sparked his interest in
Starting point is 00:17:21 rock and roll. And her uncritical devotion to Reg made it possible for the bespeckled boy to pursue his dream of rock and roll stardom, Tom. Anyway, he had remarkable tenacity, even to the point of ruining his vision by wearing a pair of Buddy Holly-style eyeglasses until his eyes adjusted to the strong prescription. But anyway, at the
Starting point is 00:17:44 time of Elton John's greatest hits release, he had had at least one song per year in the top 40 for four years, for each of these four years. How long did that winning street continue, Tom. Did the one hit a year continue for six years, 12 years, 18 years, 24 years, or 30 years? How many years did Elton John have at least one top 40 hit in each year? I think 12 years. You're going to say 12, a little bit more than six. Not this time. Oh, good try. Let me go to Mike. Hello, Mike.
Starting point is 00:18:24 Morning. Well, it's not 12 years. Elton John had a bunch of hits, but by the time that album was released in 74, he had at least one hit each year. How long did that streak continue? Six years, 18, 24, or 30 years that he kept having at least one hit a year? I'm going to say six. You're going to say six. Was it six?
Starting point is 00:18:45 No, it's more than that. Let me go to Ron. Hello, Ron. How are you doing this morning? I'm doing great. It's 30 years, Bill. Elton John is a creative phenomenon. 30 years. Is it 30 years?
Starting point is 00:18:58 You're a winner! Yes. Yes, it was. An accomplished pianist with a gift for Melody, reg toured extensively with bluesology while he was still a teen in the mid-1960s. But his path before coming a star, between coming a star, when he landed a 9-to-5 songwriting job with a record company in 1967, and that's kind of where he ended up getting his first. break. People found out more about it. Good stuff. Ron, we're going to send you to Diner
Starting point is 00:19:27 62. Now that you are here, not only have you won the Diner 62 Real American Quiz, you wanted the way in on a pebble in your shoe Tuesday, and that was about that PPNL, right? Yeah, and the thing that I frequently noticed does not get mentioned in terms of cost escalation. And as you know, I'm self-employed, and one of the things that I try to encourage young younger contractors coming into the trade is to understand one word more than anything else in their ambitions. And what's that? Cost.
Starting point is 00:20:03 Cost. Multiple million dollars, I mean, multiple millions of dollars in lawsuit judgments, which increase insurance rates. Some of it may be, you know, I don't know how they dispense it. But the point is a lot more money spent because of it. of those judgments. I'm not saying whether it's right or wrong. I'm just saying there's always a downside to those economic situations. Are you alluding to the fire payouts, that kind of thing, the lawsuits from that? Yeah, and I don't know the specifics. It's like, how do you run
Starting point is 00:20:39 high voltage power lines in the air without picking up some liability? You do the same thing if it's underground if somebody picks up your utility. So I don't know. I don't know. But it's got to be a factor in terms of how they recuperate cost. I would imagine so. There is an aspect of it, though, which is worth noting, is that I believe, if I recall correctly, Pacific Power ended up being directed by Public Utilities Commission.
Starting point is 00:21:11 And I'm not trying to excuse Pacific Power. Okay, I'm not. But the money has to come from some people. place. But the real push from the state of Oregon from the PUC was not really about trimming the trees back and cleaning up those right of ways and making sure we didn't have problems with the wildfire. The real issue was pushing the green agenda with the renewable power. That was the number one agenda when you look back at the at the records. So, you know, the state tells them to do one particular thing. And then you have the investor pressures on the other side. But on the
Starting point is 00:21:47 Now, let's also be honest that it is a monopoly, which means it has a guaranteed rate of return, one way or the other. Warren Buffett would win either way. You know, heads, Warren Buffett wins and tails we lose. But still, it comes right down to it, the state had some role in this, which I don't think gets enough attention. Would that be fair? I agree. Starting point is 00:25:45 You know that businessman? He's going to stay in jail. 20 federal financial charges, wire fraud, identity theft, and tax evasion. And the part that I found amazing is that the, this is what the K.O.B.I. was reporting yesterday. Prosecutor said Caswell got a temporary passport, a passport through the U.S. Embassy in Berlin. By claiming he lost his original while boating, they further allege that he crossed international borders using his brother's ID. and then investigators recently listened to a monitored jail call in which the brothers talked about the brother pretending to be Caswell. Prosecutors citing a victim impact statement from Caswell's estranged wife.
Starting point is 00:26:26 But anyway, Caswell's attorney arguing that the state previously offered a roadmap to release and that international travel was known to the state authorities at the time. Needless to say, they're thinking that he's pretty slippery. That's the impression that I got from the story that he's slippery enough that they don't want to grant him the ability to get out, that he would sort of disappear. Catch me if you can. And I got to Greg. Hey, Greg, what's on your mind this morning when it comes to trying to get permission
Starting point is 00:26:54 on what is it, easements, right? Do some work out there. Go ahead. Well, first of all, I just wanted to thank you for providing this forum. Oh, my pleasure. My pleasure. So I grew up around here, and when we was growing up, it was just understood that the right-of-way along the road in front of your property was your business to take care of, keep a fire danger down and mow it and whatever it needed. So having said that, I find it quite interesting that I spent a whole morning, well, most of the morning, going back and forth between the two offices.
Starting point is 00:27:37 in White City that housed the State Highway Department and the Jackson County Highway Department. They're right next to each other there, so that was convenient. But still, after two or three hours going back and forth, we came to this conclusion. I went there to try to get permission to do that kind of work in my community. Now, is it in your community or just on your property or the easement? by your property? They won't give you permission.
Starting point is 00:28:11 They will not give you permission to do any work on any easement, state or county, because of liability. If they say go ahead, then they're liable. So there's a catch-22 there. Well, is there something where you could just do the work that's needed and then just beg for forgiveness if there was a problem, though? How about that? Well, you know, that's what I've concluded is probably what.
Starting point is 00:28:37 most people are going to do. So that's fine, and I encourage it. Well, I can't, I shouldn't say that. I'll get in trouble. You get in trouble. We don't want the liability coming to you, all right? All right. Well, here's the thing. The final analysis was the only way they would give permission is if you form a nonprofit group for that specific purpose, you raise money for insurance for your workers, you get yourself on the list for the dole, and then it's all good. You can do it. So you have to create a nonprofit racket in order to take care of it. You know, I think this is an example of what has made America not so great.
Starting point is 00:29:29 Well, it's a pebble in my shoe. Yeah, yeah. And, you know, I just want to say one thing more real quick. You know, I get misinterpreted a lot by both sides of these political affiliates. I'm not affiliate any more than I had to be to get registered to get voted years ago. And the party I belong to, no matter what. What matters is who I can vote for. So, but anyway, I know that I'm not just paranoid.
Starting point is 00:30:06 I've had conversations with the fire marshals. I've had conversations with people. And I'm a suspect because I carry firefighting equipment with me all summer long, and if I see smoke, I go there. Darn you. What's wrong with you? What do you mean? Darn you, you're helping a PERS employee to not.
Starting point is 00:30:31 get work. What are you doing? Well, all I can say is things have gone really strange wrong when people can't just take care of business. Yeah. By the way, I'm being a little sarcastic, just so you understand. All right. It's all good. All right, good. As long as you understood that, Greg, I understand. Boy, that's a big pebble. That's a boulder. Let me go to Phil. Phil, you have a different take on the narco blow-up thing. But anyway, go ahead. What are you thinking? Yeah, thanks. Thanks, Bill. You're welcome. I was in the military for 22 years, driving small boats. And when you go on a mission, you have a mission statement.
Starting point is 00:31:10 You have an objective to achieve. And I believe our military was told to sink these drug boats. And in doing so, if that boat is still floating and there happens to be people holding on to it, well, you haven't accomplished your mission until that boat is sunk. You could be absolutely right. That could be what's going on. However, that could come in conflict with the law of war treaty, too, right? You can see that.
Starting point is 00:31:36 Yes, I understand that, but, I mean, you get unfortunate casualties when you're achieving your mission that you've been assigned. But that is the risk, I suppose, that you're taking when you decide to do that. Yeah, it's a very good point. And my concern is not as much about the blowing up of essentially drug dealers. Okay, all right. My concern is the political fallout, and we've got a lot of work that needs to be accomplished, and I get concerned about the distractions of the attacks coming in, because it will be used as an attack. That's all I'm getting at. Okay. Absolutely, but that's just like the young child receiving a hand grenade and saying and being told to run toward a group of troops.
Starting point is 00:32:24 Yeah, exactly. Point well taken, and thank you for making it, Phil. Let me go to Tom, Tom. have you here. Morning. Morning, Bill. I think Brad did a great job of explaining how the green scam is jacking up all our electric belts. And I want people to be aware that they're getting set to, or trying to put up a solar farm to the entrance of Ashland, right off to the left, right before the railroad trestle as you go up the hill. Oh, that, uh, Is it that ranch, well, is it the ranch lane? Is it on the other side of I-5, or is it the side by, on the trestle side? Just curious.
Starting point is 00:33:08 On the trestle side. On the trestle side, okay. Well, the trestle spans both sides, but it's to the east side of the 99. As you go up the hill, it's to your left. And I just think, you know, it's a radical change from farmland to a solar farm. It does seem interesting how farmland has been redefined as solar farmable, too. That is definitely the case. He's using the word farm when it's something entirely different.
Starting point is 00:33:42 It's not a farm. And anyway, it's being, it's in front of the county right now, and the county's going to decide to give it the green light or the red light. But most people in Ashland and so forth, they just don't even know that this is on the table, But this is a major kind of decision that really affects a lot of people. And most people are not going to be allowed to weigh in at all. And because it's being kind of done under the wire. Is this a county procedure or a city?
Starting point is 00:34:16 It's a county. It's county one. Yeah, because it's outside of Ashland City limits. But the power is supposed to go to Ashland. And, you know, in Ashland, of course, you have a lot of people that are wholly behind the green scam, so they might like it, but there's probably an equal number, or it'll be a large number that would be against it, but I just don't like the undemocratic process of something that's going to affect a lot of people, and the people
Starting point is 00:34:44 don't have a chance to weigh in on it. All right. I appreciate your call, and thank you for raising the issue. I wasn't aware of that. Thank you, Tom. State 37, if you're on hold, I will get right to your call. 770563.30 is one open line, and we'll try to get everybody on here in just a moment, okay? Now then, price, boy, silver hit 58, more than $58 yesterday.
Starting point is 00:35:08 It gave back like 40 cents. Like 5765 this morning on the latest futures markets. Gold's still a little bit under 4188, yeah. The precious metals are still on a tear. And I have to tell you, if you're looking to maybe still do a little of stacking or maybe you want to do some selling, talk to the recognized experts at Jay Austin & Company, gold and silver buyers in Ashland, 1632 Ashland Street in Ashland, 6th and G in downtown Grants Pass. Part of this is industrial because those solar farms, they take a lot of silver and more silver than it's actually coming out of the ground. So maybe that's a driving part of this. Gold, central banks are buying that too right now.
Starting point is 00:35:50 They're looking for the real stuff rather than crypto, at the moment at least. But people are trying to protect wealth with it. Maybe you can gain some wealth by selling or maybe protect some by buying. It's just kind of up to you. Talk to Jay Austin. Call 482 3715, 482-375. You can also find out more about them. So he wants to mention our uncompromising quality of work. Starting point is 00:38:15 It's the Bill Meyer Show on KMED. Southern Oregon's place to talk. I always enjoyed the open phone time on Pebble in Your Shoe Tuesday, or open phone time anywhere, where we can noodle into anything you want. Let me try Butch in Gold Hill. Hey, Butch, were you involved with those, those, well, people going after the bear the other day ended up getting bit? Were you part of that or just heard about it?
Starting point is 00:38:40 No, no, no. I've learned that you don't feed the bear. Yeah. Yeah, one woman was trying to give the woman involved. I was trying to give the bear a dog treat, apparently. Not a good idea, just saying. No, it's not. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:55 What's on your mind? They'll always come back to more. That's right. Please excuse my border collie in the background. No problem. So, I was talking to an employee of one of the landfills, and they were telling me that they were going to replace all of the power poles in Josephine in Jackson County.
Starting point is 00:39:17 Yeah, I've heard of that. Yeah, people have been telling me that, yeah. And you're not going to be able to recycle them. In other words, if I wanted to buy one, I couldn't. They all have to go to the landfill. Is there some rule or law or policy? Because it would seem to me that, gosh, you could cut that up and use it for, you know, timbers, you know, maybe a retaining wall, right?
Starting point is 00:39:42 Oh, yes, you could. I believe it's something to do with DEQ. Oh. Does that make sense? Does that make sense? Yeah, but does it make sense that the pole sitting in the ground is perfectly fine, according to the DEQ? But when you pull it up, you can't use it again? Does that make sense?
Starting point is 00:40:05 No, but nothing the state does make sense. True. They have not got one agency, with the exception of the forest fire people, that does anything, any good. And I have tried, I tried working for NODOT. I worked for DEQ. I've tried calling DEQ for violations of dust and smoke. And nobody ever does anything. They're too busy taking care of their purse things.
Starting point is 00:40:35 But yesterday when I was driving out to White City, I saw these newly excavated areas and they have these poles on them. and they're about the same size as a modern power pole, but they're completely uniform and they're black. So there's some sort of manufactured product. Yeah, it could be maybe it's some sort of a strand, something or other, some strand board. Who knows? They have some amazing, amazing formulations these days.
Starting point is 00:41:08 And I don't have a problem with that, except for it's going to be a little expensive. That's all that matters, isn't it? all these poles. And then with the landfills, we've only got so much room left in the landfills. And I believe that the stuff that goes from one landfill in Josephine County has to go up to Corvallis. What would you like seeing done instead of what's being done? Yeah, I mean, it's ridiculous. I'm wondering if this is a rule or a law. And if there's anybody that,
Starting point is 00:41:45 that knows the DEQ world. I'd appreciate letting me know. But, But, Butch, thank you for the call. Let me go to Gene. Gene's here, too. Hello, Gene. You wanted to talk about the power company? Go ahead.
Starting point is 00:41:57 Yeah, I've got some good and bad things to say about the car company. Okay. And that guy that was talking about Ricky, yeah, he came to my place. We talked for a while, and I told him that if you're going to take out the limbs, just take the whole down three down that way they didn't interfere with the lines again. Do they take it down? Oh, yeah. Good.
Starting point is 00:42:22 The crew came out, and I caught the foreman because, you know, I heard the tree go down, and I was wondering it was going across the road. Yeah. I caught a foreman because of that, and we got to talk about the fact that my only heat is wood. They took, and he found out what size wood I can take. They cut the wood so that all I have to do is split it. Oh, that's great. That's great story.
Starting point is 00:42:58 What's the downside, though? There must be a downside, a butt coming, though. Oh, there is. It's the light of me itself. The what? Have you noticed you have to force donate to the people that don't make enough money to help pay their life bill. Oh, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:17 You do. Part of your bill does go to the low-income energy fund. Yeah, you're absolutely right. It irritates you, huh? Well, what irritates me is the fact I found out that a lot of those people on that low-income make more money a month than I do. Oh, boy, that would be like,
Starting point is 00:43:35 it's like injury. Injury after the insult. Appreciate the call. Thanks for that. Good story, Gene. Let me go to Dawn. Hello, Dawn. You want to talk about 9-11.
Starting point is 00:43:45 Go ahead. Hi, Bill. I believe the deep state was behind the entirety of the 9-11. You do. Lies. 110-story buildings don't fall into their own footprint. At free fall speed after burning for one hour, they definitely use thermite. You could see explosives, the squibs coming out the windows as the buildings are falling.
Starting point is 00:44:06 Jet fuel only burns as hot as kerosene. So, and Bush's pancake theory, you know, well, 110 stories, that would have taken 110 seconds. That's just a bunch of lies. Yeah, there are a lot of questions. A lot of questions, even the people that were involved in the 9-11 report are not buying it and saying that we were never supposed to get to the bottom of that. So it does make you wonder. Could you draw into how we're still dealing with that today then? Do you have a conclusion?
Starting point is 00:44:35 What are the draw from that? Well, we've still got massive propaganda. And, of course, Obama made that legal, and, you know, I was laughing at him when he came out and announced they captured Bin Laden with Steel Team 6. And then conveniently, Seal Team 6 was all. They were put in antiquated equipment, and they were, I'd say they were outright murdered. All right. So you're not buying the story as it had been told to you. Okay.
Starting point is 00:45:05 Right. Well, and like Francine said, bin Laden died of kidney failure back in 2001. His whole family was present for the funeral. Well, I know that that is what Joel Scouse and a pretty reliable journalist that I'm a fan of has mentioned for a long, long time. So I guess what the bin Laden that we knew about or was reported, that was the CIA stand in for the videos, right? Right. And the bushes were in business. All right. Well, I think what will be really interesting, and I know that there are more journalists that are starting to come up like James Howard Kuntler, who I mentioned earlier this morning, that are saying that what we're witnessing right now in Venezuela is really kind of a battle between Trump and Deep State actors. What do you think about that theory? Yeah, it's most likely true, yeah. Okay, all right. I appreciate the call. Thank you for making it. I'll take one more, and then I'm going to have to break for a little bit here and do some other things. Hi, good morning. Who's this?
Starting point is 00:46:05 One, two, one, two, three, four five? Okay, since you're not there, I'll go to the next one. Hi, who's this? Good morning. Oh, this is Greg again. I just called back to clarify about the polls, why they don't give them away. Sure. So I used to get pre-asote railroad ties. They quit that because somebody back east puts them in their stove to poison them.
Starting point is 00:46:27 They sued the railroad company. Oh, so they're, well, how about just if you just sign a release that says, Don't put it in your, you know, in your wood stove and everything's okay. Wouldn't that be all right? Well, that would be intelligent. But just real quick, there is a solution, and that is you form a company. Oh, once again, you form a non-profit to take the DEQ unapproved one. Okay, and then take the liability.
Starting point is 00:46:56 All right, what nonsense. I get it. I'm not saying you're full of nonsense. You're probably legally correct, but it is. practical nonsense. All right, one more call. They were going to wrap up Pabelinia shoot Tuesday for the moment. Hi, who's this?
Starting point is 00:47:09 Hey, it's Michael. Michael, go ahead. Yeah, I was just looking up on the smart poles. That's probably what those are. Those are pretty cool little structures, as long as they do what they say, they're doing nothing else. Okay. But they connect to the cloud,
Starting point is 00:47:24 and they let them know real time what's going on with the poll and such and such. So we have to have thinking. Yeah. Power poles, right? I don't know. It's just going to be a pretty cool thing as long as it does what it says. I don't want the power pole watching me as I go by. I don't want it like zapping the trees with a laser beam.
Starting point is 00:47:47 Yeah, and I also don't want the power pole. I'd be concerned if the power pole becomes self-aware, okay? You know, like those old GMO Christmas trees or something. I'm just having fun with you. It's just an extension of the AI. Yeah, exactly. Good call. It's 10 before 9.
Starting point is 00:48:05 This is the Bill Meyers show. Hey, you know, we're in a few days left. Just a few days left here what's going on before. Open enrollment in Medicare is over. Starting point is 00:50:47 This is News Talk 1063, KMED. And you're waking up with the Bill Myers Show. When was the last time you had your well water tested? The EPA recommends that all private wells be tested at least once a year. If you can't remember when you had your water quality tested, it's time. Water quality can change radically from year to year, and you don't want to mess around. Grants Pass Water Lab offers next day results for bacteria tests and a speedy three to five days for the full reporting that meets all state requirements.
Starting point is 00:51:18 Online at GPWaterlab.com, independent and serving the Rogue Valley for over 40 years. Hi, I'm Riley with Rotary Drilling Company, and I'm on KMED. I'm so glad you're here. it's 853 and open for business we have a quick talk here with Lauren Haferson is it how do you pronounce your name? Hafterson Hafterson yeah Hafterson yeah I'll get bad but last time I saw you you had the elf costume on a little Santa's elf thing and we were ringing the bell over at Fred Meyer South yeah and you are working hard you're like the volunteer coordinator
Starting point is 00:51:53 yes I'm the volunteer coordinator so and that red wig I wear that's that's my bell ringing personality it comes out this time of year yeah and and And in other words, when you coordinate volunteers, you're a cat herder. Yes, right. That's what. So, anyway, we had great time out there, great money, and I always give money to the red kettle every time I walk past one. Otherwise, I feel like, you know, Jesus is watching me and I'm guilty otherwise. But what is going on?
Starting point is 00:52:18 Because you still need people to help out with the need this holiday season, right? Yes, we do. We are always in need of more bell ringers. volunteer bell ringers are a staple in our impact for our Christmas programs and for the Salvation Army programs all year long. Okay. How do you sign up if you want to be held? It doesn't take long.
Starting point is 00:52:39 It's not hard. Yeah, we have an online platform. It's registered to ring.com. You go in there, you create an account, and then you can see all the different locations, all the different shifts that are available, and you are in control of selecting your shifts. The shifts are 10 to 2 or 2 to 6. Okay, four hours and you've really helped out. And the money does stay in the neighborhood. Yes, all the funds raised at our kettles stay local to Jackson County and helping our neighbors in need.
Starting point is 00:53:03 How are we looking so far? We still need more bell ringers. Yep. Yeah. That's it. So if you ever see the red kettle with nobody standing by, it's because someone hasn't volunteered. Yes, yes. All right. Let's see if we can get more of these bell ringers. Do you need any other volunteers, too, for this? Yeah, so what I wanted to talk about today a little bit was just exercising your purpose and volunteering through the Salvation Army. We have many different levels of intensity for our volunteer opportunities, but they all have a great impact. So our Angel Tree location at the mall, we need volunteers there. That is seven days a week, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and the shifts are flexible. So if you have two hours and you want to come down and table this, our angel tree at the mall, we need that.
Starting point is 00:53:56 And no bell ringing needed, right? No bell ringing needed. This is more of a tabling. It's a low-intensity volunteer opportunity where you be basically sitting at our table in our booth in the Rogue Valley Mall food court and checking out tags, kind of like a checking out a library book. So people come and they look at the tags. And every tag represents a real child and their wish list here in Jackson County. How do they get signed up for that? Is it still the register place or something else?
Starting point is 00:54:28 So that you would just call me. 541-773-6965. That's our office phone number. And I will get you scheduled for whatever shift you're available to work. Laura, I'm glad you stopped by here. I'm glad to have helped you out. And let's see if we can continue to help because, boy, even more. need this time around yes absolutely and you know there is a higher intensity uh volunteer
Starting point is 00:54:53 opportunity at our tree or angel tree um toy warehouse and that is more of the packing the sorting packing and then the distribution of the gifts boy think of those kids how happy they'll be literally providing christmas morning someone has to pack it give me the office number one more time I'll put it up on my side 541 773 6965 very good Lauren hafterson you got it got the name the FT Hatterson. You got it. Great seeing you all right. Thank you so much. Open for business. 857. If you are on hold, I'll get right to you. We'll have some more fun. Starting point is 00:56:35 I'm retired as an environmental consultant. And I just wanted to mention that some of the power. power poles, the really, really old power poles, the butts were treated with arsenic. Oh. And most of them are creosote or natural gas. And the natural gas poles are extremely hard. So is there a, there's a good reason then why they don't want some of those being reused for that reason?
Starting point is 00:56:58 Yeah, the creosote, I don't know what you'd do with them. Probably is okay, you know, like railroad ties and stuff. But if they're arsenic, yeah, they'd have to go to the dump. And you can only dump so much of solid waste in a year. So they probably know how much. But, yeah, you've got to be careful. All right, Dale, thank you for the clarification. Good to hear from someone who knows.
Starting point is 00:57:19 All's in the Applegate, Al, I'm running late, but I'm going to give you a quick bite here before news time. Go ahead. I've got a perfect Pacific Northwest solution to replacing these power poles. Every time the state mandates taking out 100,000 or a megawatt of power, we just take out 100,000 poles and don't replace them and start in the Willamette Valley. I like your thought process. I really do. It's a great way to wrap up pebble in your shoe Tuesday, okay? Thank you. Hi, boy. Al in the Applegate. This is KMED, KMED, HD1, Eagle Point, Medford, KBXG grants pass. We'll join Fox News. It just started.
