Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey Bill O'Reilly here. Welcome to the No Spin News for Thursday, December 12th, 2024, stand up for your country. Busy Newsday, the whole week's been busy. Trump is a person of the year, according to Time magazine, which hates him. By the way, we'll get into that. Madness of my house. I had one here. I'll explain it. FBI chaos. That's an interesting story.
Starting point is 00:00:39 And we will have classic rocker Gene Simmons from Kiss, who did some of the music for the movie Reagan. He'll be here, talk a little politics, little music. But first, let's go to the FBI thing. That's the subject of this evening's talking points memo. So Christopher Ray is out. He says he's going to resign in January. age 57, appointed FBI directed by Donald Trump, June 7th, 2017, served for seven years. I would say he has been terrible. Maybe not worse than James Comey, but close. Prior to that, Christopher Ray had a pretty good career going in Washington. He was appointed by George Bush the younger to be assistant attorney general in the criminal division. of the Department of Justice, he did a good job there, which is why Trump gave him the head
Starting point is 00:01:35 of the FBI. But, boy, did he blow it, and I'm going to prove it with hard facts. First of all, let's go to Donald Trump. Here's what his reaction was to Ray's resignation yesterday, quote, The resignation of Christopher Ray is a great day for America, says President Trump, as it will end the weaponization of what has become known as the United States Department of Injustice. I just don't know what happened to him. Okay, so let's examine the facts here, right? So the guy who supervised Christopher Ray, as head of the FBI, is Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley from Iowa. So the Iowa has oversight over Ray. He's Ray's boss.
Starting point is 00:02:31 I mean, President is because the President can fire Ray. But the guy watching him is Grassley. Grassley does not like Ray at all. Number one, the Senator's angry FBI did not properly vet Afghan refugees after the embarrassing surrender. The FBI report revealed the National Guard Intelligence Center flagged at least 50 Afghan refugees for the FBI's potential significant security concerns. The FBI failed entirely to answer my inquiry on the serious national security issue.
Starting point is 00:03:06 So the FBI wouldn't give the Senate any information about vetting Afghans who were brought to the United States after the Taliban took over. That's not good. Here's number two. In Grassley's opinion, the FBI failed to properly vet. why pro-life protesters were investigated by the Bureau in Virginia. Quote, for more than a year and a half, the FBI has failed to be responsive to repeated requests,
Starting point is 00:03:32 again addressed to Christopher Ray, asking for information about the outrageous memo prepared by the FBI's field office in Richmond, Virginia. That memo struck fear and believers across the country by purporting without anything other than biased accredited sources, like the Southern Poverty Law Center, to tie faithful Christians to violent and. extremism, unquote. Ray simply failed to answer any questions about it. That's unacceptable.
Starting point is 00:03:59 Number three, Christopher Ray and the FBI ignored, according to Grassley, child sex trafficking at the open border. Quote, the FBI has failed to update me on the status of criminal referral I made to the FBI in January of this year related to likely child trafficking through the Biden-Haffa's office of refugee resettlement at the Department of Health and Human services. Again, Ray just saying, no, I'm not going to answer any questions. I mean, do you get the pattern here? All right. And perhaps the biggest deficit against Christopher Ray himself, himself, was he has never investigated or explained how the FBI secured FISA warrants to tap phones of the Trump campaign in 2016 off the bogus Russian collars.
Starting point is 00:04:51 allegations. That's outrageous. And there's Ray. You've seen them. You've seen them. So I said in the beginning, almost as bad as guy, you may be worse than Comey. So goodbye. We'll never hear from Christopher Ray again. I mean, this is ridiculous. Jade Gohoover, who founded the FBI, was worse than Ray. And if you read my book, Killing the mob, and you're re-killing, I'm sorry, confronting the presidents in the LBJ chapter, the Lyndon Johnson chapter, shows you how corrupt J. Edgar Hoover was. Kroo was just, Hoover was just corrupt. I don't think Ray's corrupt.
Starting point is 00:05:36 I think he is a person who was poisoned by left-wing ideology along the way somewhere. And then when they got in trouble, the FBI for imposing that ideology, Ray refused to answer questions. And that's a memo. Joe Biden got the day off today. I don't know what he's doing, but he's got nothing on his official schedule, but he did issue a lot of commutations and pardons. We've gone down the list. Biden doesn't know any of these people. They just put it in front of he just signed it. So 1,500 commutations, 39 acts of clemency, the biggest single day in U.S. history. Let me amend that. 65 pardons, 1,636 commutations so far as president.
Starting point is 00:06:28 By comparison, Donald Trump, in his four years, pardon 143, but only 94 commutations. What's the difference? Pardon is you can't get prosecuted, like Hunter, charges are out. Commutation is you've already been convicted, but whatever penalty or suffering goes away. So all these people today, they get out of jail or home confinement, wherever they are. So that's what Biden has been doing this week. U.S. budget deficit climbs 17 percent, 17 percent in November. Now, I know the propaganda.
Starting point is 00:07:04 I know the progressives are lying to everybody, but Joe Biden is by far the biggest spending president in the history of this country. Any five-year-old child would know when you have a $37 trillion debt, you don't keep running. the debt up? Biden did. Just for that alone, I would have voted against him because that's so dangerous. All right, let's go to Time Magazine and Donald Trump. So this is interesting. Time Magazine hates Trump. Why? Because it's in the liberal culture. And it gave Trump, you know, a hard time ever since he announced that he was going to be a politician. But this is the second time that Trump has been named a man of the year. But they had to name a man
Starting point is 00:07:51 year. Who else? And I'm sorry, I'm being politically incorrect. It's person of the year, not man of the year. It used to be man until the women took over. Now it's person. And I don't mind that, by the way.
Starting point is 00:08:08 Anyway, there's the cover. Who else would it be? There's nobody else. Juan Soto, maybe, the baseball player got only money 750 million you know but Trump is the purpose of the year so here Trump is in New York today to take that honor and to be at the New York socket change here what he said go I have to say Time magazine getting this honor for the second time I think I like
Starting point is 00:08:37 it better at this time actually but we did a good job we had a great first term despite a lot of turmoil caused unnecessarily. But the media has tamed down a little bit. No, no, it hasn't, Mr. President. It's just waiting. Just waiting. So don't think they're tamed down. Anyway, here I think you would like to be reminded
Starting point is 00:09:04 of the other persons of the year. Here we go. Last year, Taylor Swift, 22, Zelenskyy, 21 Musk, 20, Biden and Harris. 19, Greta Thunberg. She's turned into a loon, an anti-Jewish loon, 18 journalists who have been arrested in their reportage duties. Let's face it, the U.S. economy is under stress. National debt rising, trade war, shaking the markets. And meanwhile, China is dumping the dollar and stockpiling gold.
Starting point is 00:09:38 That's why I protected my savings with physical gold and silver. through the only dealer I trust, American Hartford Gold. And you can do this. Starting point is 00:10:22 Again, that's 866-3-26-5-7576 or text bill to 998899. Hey, it's Sean Spicer from the Sean Spicer Show podcast, reminding you to tune into my show every day to get your daily dose inside the world of politics. President Trump and his team are shaking up Washington like never before, and we're here to cover it from all sides, especially on the topics the mainstream media won't. You can find us at Apple Podcast, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcast. 17, me too people. 16.
Starting point is 00:11:09 Trump, 15, Angela Merkel, 14 Ebola fighters. You remember the Ebola virus, and 13 Pope Francis. All right. So there are the persons of the year. Mark Zuckerberg. Now, this is rich. Pardon the bad pun. Zuckerberg, one of the wealthiest people in the world. You'll remember, and I have reminded you over the months and years that he pumped $300 million into the 2020 election into counties that were crucial for either Biden or Trump. I would say 90% of that money went to help Biden. Now, it has never been investigated because Biden's not going to investigate it. I hope Donald Trump investigates this. I don't know if he will. Why? Because Zucker or just gave Trump $1 million for his inauguration.
Starting point is 00:12:08 So you see the game that Zuckerberg's playing here. Zuckerberg tried and was successful in derailing the 2020 election and kicking it over to Biden, all right? Because those 20 counties where he pumped in 300 million, they were all swing state counties. All right. And I can't prove where the money went because I don't. don't have subpoena power.
Starting point is 00:12:36 But certainly, the FEC Federal Election Commission should be launching an investigation where the deuce that money went that Zuckerberg threw in there. Don't you agree? Don't you want to know? I do. Now, I know it's way down on Trump's priority list,
Starting point is 00:12:53 but I'm going to remind him of that. We need to know. But anyway, Zuckerberg wrote the check. And here's a million for your inauguration. You know what he's trying to do. It's like Joe and Mika. Didn't work out real well for them, by the way. Zuckerberg will get away with it unless they do investigate him, which they should.
Starting point is 00:13:17 Don Trump also invited Xi, the president of China, to his inauguration. Now, this was a very clever move by Trump. So Trump doesn't want trouble with China or Russia or any, He wants a calm world, which helps him. And he says, oh, come on over to the inauguration. Now, she's not going to come, because that would show weakness to his own people. But he'll send his foreign minister, I bet. Gingrich agrees with me.
Starting point is 00:13:52 Gingrich's on W.A.B.C. radio this morning, and Sid Rosenberg said, oh, I think she's going to come, and Grimberg said, you know, Gingrich said, probably not. Because there's a lot of face and all of that, F-A-C-E in Asia. But if she does come, it's a big win for Trump. Now, there are a whole bunch of people coming to the inauguration from all over the world because everybody's trying to curry favor with Trump now. Everybody fears him. And I mean everybody.
Starting point is 00:14:22 So the mullahs in Iran, they're really in a bad spot here. And that brings us to an negotiation that's happening right now with the Biden. people. They are over there, Jake Sullivan National Security Advisor, trying desperately to get a ceasefire before Joe leaves. Because Joe, as I did in my commentary today, if you look at the message of the day on Bill O'Reilly.com, and again, I hope you do. It's free. Just read it. It's short. Biden has got a loser tag on him forever, just like Jimmy Carter. Forever. He needs to go it's some kind of positive. And so they're desperately working to get a ceasefire
Starting point is 00:15:03 and some hostages released in Gaza. Now, the prevailing wisdom among the national security analysts on both Trump and Biden is that most of the hostages have been murdered. They're dead. Which is probably what's holding this thing up. But don't be surprised in the next few days
Starting point is 00:15:24 of you hear of a ceasefire because that is in play. Okay, so earlier this week I had an extensive conversation with President Trump. I will remind you of two things. I don't call him because that's intrusive. I'm a journalist, all right, but if I need to speak with him about something, I will get to his people and say, look, and sometimes he responds and sometimes he doesn't. But this week he did, and we talked policy.
Starting point is 00:15:57 It was all policy. He made fun of me. He always does. And that's good. It's good to be made fun of by the president of the United States. That's a good thing. And I think I've been made fun of by seven presidents. I think that might be a record. Anyway, I never divulge any of my private conversations because I talk to powerful people all over the world all the time. I mean, if you could be, Holly the Terodog knows more about the world by listening to my conversation. but I never divulge it, ever, and I would never, okay, no matter, they could sue me, they can prison me, they can torture me, I'm not going to do it. And that's why when I talk to somebody, they're confident that I'm not going to quote them or anything like that. But I'm telling you this because I promoted it yesterday that I did have an extensive conversation. And the only reason I'm telling you this is one point.
Starting point is 00:16:51 I have known Donald Trump for almost 35 years on that conversation earlier this week on the phone he was sharper than I have ever heard him God's honest I'll tell you what he was on it and we were talking about complicated stuff boom boom boom it was and I believe me you know me I would not say that if it weren't true. And I didn't tell him that because that's sucking up. I don't do that. But I'll tell you because it's important that you know. He's 78 years old.
Starting point is 00:17:38 He was, I mean, my head snapping back going, what? And he's backing it up. So anyway, I am privileged. You know, they throw this word around honor, it's an honor, that's a cliche. But I am privileged, right, to be able to have these conversations. And it helps me report the news to you and analyze it in an honest way. That's what really is the bottom line on this. So anyway, that happened.
Starting point is 00:18:13 I told you where we reported today, and I have. Secretary of State Blinken. finally shows up to the House Foreign Affairs Committee because if he didn't, he was going to be held in contempt of Congress. They wanted to grill him on the embarrassment of the surrender in Afghanistan, which has led to all kinds of horror to the United States all over the world as Biden showed weakness. Here's what a portion of what Lincoln said.
Starting point is 00:18:42 Even the U.S. government's most pessimistic assessments did not anticipate that the Afghan government and security force would collapse so rapidly in the face of Taliban advances. Nevertheless, because of the administration's extensive interagency planning coordination, when Kabul fell on August 15th, the United States was able to evacuate our embassy and relocate our diplomats to the airport within 48 hours, and then conduct the largest airlift in U.S. history, helping approximately 120,000 Americans, Afghans and citizens of allied nations, depart Afghanistan in just two weeks.
Starting point is 00:19:18 What a bunch of bull. I mean, everybody remembers the pictures of the people hanging off the planes. You know, some of them died of the 18 military, U.S. military people who were killed. It was a 13 or 18. You know, everybody remembers, and that didn't have to happen. So Donald Trump had a deal with the Taliban. And the deal was, you don't shoot at Americans, and we won't shoot at you. 18 months. We had our strength in Bagram Air Base, where I spent some time. I know the turf.
Starting point is 00:19:59 There was no threat to Bagram by the Taliban. They couldn't do anything because we had our air power, helicopter power, way more than a Taliban had. But when Biden signaled that he was going to surrender to the Taliban, which is what he did. The president of Afghanistan bolted out of there with all kinds of money. Okay? And that's in the signal to the Afghan army. We better get out of our uniform or we're going to be executed. And that's what happened. Biden caused that. The Taliban were not going to overrun U.S. forces. Now, we had to get out of there. Trump knew we had to get out of there. but you do it in an orderly way. And I never would have given up Bogrom, ever.
Starting point is 00:20:50 That would have remained in U.S. hands to make sure that there were no atrocities by the Taliban. And that would have been it. That's the deal. You don't like it? Too bad. We weren't losing anybody. As I said, Trump had a deal in place, 18 months, no U.S. casualties. And Biden comes in going, we give up, goodbye.
Starting point is 00:21:12 And then all hell breaks list. And this is blinking, oh, we did this, we do it. And you'll remember the worst ever was Biden in one of his few comments about this going, no, no, it was excellent. No, he had a great job. Billions of dollars of American armaments went to the terrorist Taliban. Billions. Yeah, that's great. And that's why Biden go down in history is the second worst president ever. Don't believe me. Just pick up. confronting the president. I back it up 50 ways. Okay, what else have we got for you tonight? Media madness, believable media. Okay, New York Times finally reports accurately on the illegal immigration catastrophe. Finally, now they had this story, they could have reported it last year. What do they report yesterday? All right, quote, Annual net migration number of people coming to the country minus the number leaving,
Starting point is 00:22:18 average 2.4 million people from 21 and 23, according to the Congressional Budget Office. Total net migration during the Biden administration now likely to exceed 8 million people. That's a faster pace of arrivals than during any other period on record, including the peak years of Ellis Island traffic when millions of Europeans came to the United States. Even after taking into account today's larger U.S. population, the recent surge is the most rapid since at least 1850, New York Times, December 11. Why? Why? Has Biden ever explained it? No. Not one time. Why? And with all of the horror that we have experienced as a nation because of it, again, get, boy, when he leaves, Hey, I'm Caitlin Becker, the host of the New York Postcast, and I've got exactly what you need to start your weekdays. Every morning, I'll bring you the stories that matter, plus the news people actually talk about, the juicy details in the worlds of politics, business, pop culture, and everything in between.
Starting point is 00:23:26 It's what you want from the New York Post, wrapped up in one snappy show. Ask your smart speaker to play the NY Postcast podcast, listen and subscribe on Amazon Music, Apple Podcast, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. Power, politics and the people behind the headlines. I'm Miranda Devine, New York Post columnist and the host of the brand new podcast, Podforce One. Every week I'll sit down for candid conversations with Washington's most powerful disruptors, lawmakers, newsmakers and even the president of the United States. These are the leaders shaping the future of America and the world.
Starting point is 00:24:10 Listen to Podforce One with me, Miranda Devine, every week on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcast. You don't want to miss an episode. Happy day. And just in facts, 60% of the migrants that are in the USA now are here illegally, according to a Goldman Sachs study. All right? America's foreign-born population, 15%, highest number ever, up from 13% in 2020. You see the damage this guy is done, by it. Now, it's not bad to have immigrants here.
Starting point is 00:24:53 We all know that's a good thing because they work very hard and they contribute. But unsupervised, that's when you have crime and terrorism. them. So anyway, New York Times finally gets it. Okay, drone hysteria. I live right off the Long Island Sound and is a drone. Okay? And everybody's going, what's that? And then in Jersey, there are scores of them just floating around. Nobody knows. FAA? I would, uh, I, uh, I, uh, I, Governor New Jersey, I don't know. And so the media jumps in. Oh, it's Iran.
Starting point is 00:25:39 It's China. It's not any of that. I remember when I was six years old, I went to the Westbury movie theater in Long Island. I saw invaders from Mars, scared of it, Jesus out of it. So this guy comes down from Mars, got a giant head, nobody, they have in a jar. And he hypnotizes the people. That's what I think this is. I think it's invaders from Mars 2.
Starting point is 00:26:08 Now, I'm laughing about it. But there's something behind it. So let's get it. You know, take those drones down. Look at them. Trace it back. Is that hard? And the media is just out of their minds about this.
Starting point is 00:26:27 Okay, I got a lot of mail on this. Luigi Mangione, why he has not been charged with first-degree murder in New York City for the assassination of United Health Care CEO Brian Thompson. You remember the story December 4th. Okay. It is a technical thing. So in New York State, there's no difference between first-degree murder and second-degree murder as far as sentencing is concerned. You can get life without parole. They classify it first-degree murder when you kill a judge, a cop, a state official, and an act of terrorism, something like that. It's just a paper thing. So Luigi Mangione will never see the light of freedom again.
Starting point is 00:27:19 26 years old is this nut, and he is a nut, all right, he's mentally ill. If you saw him in Pennsylvania being taken into custody, you've got to know that. every single assassin that I've ever written about and is for them in confronting the presidents, and then there are a couple of would-be assassins. They've all been mentally ill. Because you're basically throwing your life away. And then, you know, the ancillary things about, you know, health care, insurance companies are the devil, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, the far left, as we talked about yesterday, is exploiting that. We know that. But this is the truth. The TikTok idiots who are justifying this assassination, they're as mentally ill as the assassins.
Starting point is 00:28:06 And they never would have been heard from 10 years ago. But now they get a forum, and now the media takes that and runs while with it. There aren't many of those people. Most Americans notice is not acceptable, and this guy never should be free again. And that's the truth. San Diego Sheriff, and that's an interesting story, Kelly Martinez, with the San Diego Police Department, Sheriff's Department, 39 years, she's the chief. She says, hey, we're not obeying the county supervisors saying that we shouldn't cooperate
Starting point is 00:28:47 with Homeland Security. We're not. The Sheriff's Department of San Diego is going to cooperate with ICE. We don't care what the County Commission. say, good for you, sheriff. I'm going to try to get around next week. So we reported yesterday, county commissioners, and loons, all right, far left people, oh, we're not to cooperate with the criminal investigations, not just regular migrants. These are criminals. We're not given ICE anything. Sheriffs know, yeah, we are. Yeah, we are. Now, I'm interesting to see what the San Diego Police Department does.
Starting point is 00:29:26 So the sheriff covers the county, and this is a county thing. But we're on it. And again, I'll reiterate any public official that interferes of the federal investigation should be arrested. Donald Trump names Ron Johnson, not the senator, just a common name, to be the ambassador to Mexico City. Johnson is one tough SOB. And that's why he's going down there.
Starting point is 00:29:56 the ambassador to El Salvador and help the government down there defeat MS-13. Now he's going to Mexico City and he's going to tell President a shine bomb, Claudia, you better cooperate. You better put the military on the northern southern borders. You know, we're breaking you economically. Now, I still think that President Trump should declare the cartels terrorist organizations. because Mexico is never going to go after them. Once the executive order is signed, we can kill them. And we should.
Starting point is 00:30:36 I don't even believe in a death penalty, by the way. But when you have evil killing hundreds of thousands of Americans, as these cartels are, with the importation of the fentanyl and narcotics, you've got to stop them. They don't talk to them. And we know where they are. Boom. We get them a week.
Starting point is 00:30:56 You get out of the business, you got one week. Pack it up, no more. And if you don't, you'll be vapor. So anyway, Johnson's going down there. Smart life. You want to live to be 100? I do not. Okay? I don't want to ever be dependent on anybody.
Starting point is 00:31:18 So whenever I, as long as I'm healthy, as long as I'm functional, good. I'll do the best I can. But when I decline and when you're 100, come on. Okay? So I'm fine with San Adios Amigos. So health.com, they did a study of a bunch of people who are 100 years and older to find out what foods they ate to keep them alive. And here are the foods.
Starting point is 00:31:49 Beans, we all know that. Leafy greens. Yep, we know that too. nuts and seeds you know I eat cashies they're good seeds I'm not a big sea fan whole grains okay controls blood sugar very important olive oil excellent that's a Mediterranean diet turmeric I don't know what that is but it's some kind of thing you put in your food sweet potatoes love them seafood big on seafood okay fruit You know, here's my dilemma.
Starting point is 00:32:25 I do eat fruit every day, but I also drink fruit juice, and that's loaded with sugar. So I'm trying to get a line on how much fruit juice I can drink without raising my blood sugar. It's hard. Anybody knows, let me know. And then tea. I drink Japanese tea, show why. You can get it on the internet, and I have nothing to do with the company. Okay, C-H-O-Dash-W-A, it's Japanese T, raises your immune system.
Starting point is 00:33:00 Taste awful, okay, but you got to tough it out. And if it's hot and it's cold outside, it's not so bad. All right, the Reagan movie, Dennis Quaid, Penelope Miller, John Boyd, big hit, did very, very well. And as you know, I produced a movie, executive producer. along with Ridley Scott and Scott Free called Killing Reagan, based on my book. And that was very successful. But the Reagan movie did very well. It was released August 30th last summer.
Starting point is 00:33:36 And now it's out in DVD for Christmas. You get stuffing stuff, right? Now, I did not know this because I didn't see the Reagan movie because I was too busy and I have my own movie and whatever, but I'll watch it. uh jean simmons from kiss provided some of the music for the reagan movie roll it i can't go on everything i have is gone stormy weather since you and i and me and you And together keeps a ring and all the time. Wow, a little Nat King Colish there.
Starting point is 00:34:27 Mr. Simmons joins us from Los Angeles. So why did you get involved with this? When my mother came to America with yours truly, I was eight and a half years old. We are immigrants. We are legal immigrants. And as far as I'm concerned, I was born in the promised land. But let me tell you something, America is the promised land. You came from Israel? Is that what you came from?
Starting point is 00:34:52 I don't look Swiss, do I? No, you don't. Not at all. That's right. That's where I was born, yeah. And came to America and discovered that anything is possible. There are no limits, no nothing. And despite the fact that people agree and disagree and all that stuff, this is still the light and will continue to be the light that shines the world. Did you admire Ronald Reagan?
Starting point is 00:35:16 Did you admire him? I did. I was much younger, obviously, when he was president, and I knew nothing, almost nothing, about the body of politics. But interestingly, in hindsight, it bears noting that the political and pop culture figures of any age were always about the impression,
Starting point is 00:35:38 the ability to communicate a feeling And perhaps that's more important, the power of the personality than what's written on a piece of paper. And now imagine a different president trying to communicate with Gorbachev and getting and literally causing that wall to come down, which resulted in the fall of communism. Did you take any heat? Because you know how liberal and progressive Hollywood is where you live. Do you take any heat from contributing to this film? How do I say this as nicely as I can? I don't give a squat.
Starting point is 00:36:14 No, I know that. But did you take any? Yes. You see, but that's wrong. Isn't it wrong? Well, everybody's entitled to an opinion. It doesn't, you know, it falls off. Yeah, but they shouldn't try to hurt you because of your opinion.
Starting point is 00:36:30 That's what they do out there. Well, that is probably true. I think it is the bastion of a certain political leaning of the thing. But that's, that's okay. You know, I have... Not okay with me, Gene. John Voight and I hangout. We trade stories and everything else.
Starting point is 00:36:48 And some people agree with this politics, some not. But everybody gives the charity. Everybody loves children. And so think about the stuff that we agree with instead of the stuff that we don't. Well, you're bringing a level-headed approach, but there's some malevolent evil people in the motion picture industry
Starting point is 00:37:07 and the music industry to boot that I'll deal with them, you don't have to. You've seen it all. And the music industry has changed so much. Give my audience one big change that you have witnessed in the arc of your career. Unfortunately, the business model is dead, and new bands don't have a chance, especially rock bands. In a certain way, rock is finally dead. Rock and roll is dead because the freckle-faced kid next door to you, who's a little bit?
Starting point is 00:37:39 good kid and good family and everything has become entitled, feels entitled to be able to download and file share and get all this music for free. Yeah. And, you know, it's interesting that people don't understand this. It's not, so what? You're too rich to care. Why do you care? Well, imagine you work for a living. You write a book. You sell groceries or whatever. And people don't pay you for the work that you put in. Then you understand. Then you say, well, wait a minute, I worked for this, how come I don't get paid? And that's what's happening with new artists. And it breaks my heart because they're not rich. They're creative and they're trying to get to a platform where they're self-sustaining and you can't now because of the internet. Well, very, very
Starting point is 00:38:24 fascinating. I'll bring you back and once you start your tour, let us know. We'll take some video that we'll bring it back. You're an interesting guy. I've known Simmons for a long time. I never painted my face like kiss. I have to admit it. I'm much too handsome to do that. See, my theory is these guys had to do that. I don't have to. I want you to have a nice Hanukkah and a very nice celebration on the West Coast.
Starting point is 00:38:49 My best to everybody, Gene. Thanks for coming on. Thank you, young man. Okay, cheers. All right, to stay in history on the music front, December 12th, 1977, Saturday Night Fever debuts in America becomes a huge, cultural force. Roll it.
Starting point is 00:39:07 We'd like to know what I do. It's not necessary. I'll tell you what I do. I'm working a paint store, and I got raised this week. Right. You're working at a pain store, right? You're probably live with your family,
Starting point is 00:39:18 you hang out with your buddies, and on Saturday night you go, you blow it all off 2001, right? That's right. You're a cliche in nowhere on your way to no place. Now, the movie's a little rough. I just saw it a couple of months ago,
Starting point is 00:39:33 And I went, I don't remember it being that rough, but unbelievable dancing, unbelievable music. Listen to these stats. They made Saturday Night Fever for $3.5 million. It grossed $237. And that was way back in 1977. That'd be a billion dollars today. And the soundtrack by the BGs, one of the most successful albums of all time, 16 million units it moved. 16 million. And it generated the disco. Disco lasted from 77 to 84. AIDS killed it and generated a $10 billion industry. That happened. Saturday night fever. Okay, back with a final thought in a moment. Okay, here is the final thought of the day. Yesterday was halacious, just hellacious. It was pouring as a monsoon here. So I taped the radio show. I taped the television show.
Starting point is 00:40:29 Then I gotta get on a train and go to the city. Now I can't drive to the city because I leave 20 miles away and it takes me two hours in the rain to get in. I don't have two hours. Get on a train, Grand Central Station. It train is okay. L-I-R-R is okay.
Starting point is 00:40:46 Get in, then the car's supposed to meet me, but the car can't get there because the traffic is too bad. So I gotta walk to my destination. Then I gotta walk to News Nation Studio on 42nd Street. and do the live thing with Cuomo, and then I did get a ride home. And I get in here, and I'm in a coma. I'm like, and then I go, how old am I? In addition, Holly the Teradog, I have to supervise her very closely,
Starting point is 00:41:15 two brain tumors removed from this little dog. And she's recovering, and we're doing everything we can. Of course, she's member of the family. But she's got to be watched, and I've got to set that up. but I'm the main watcher at night of her. And if she's not feeling well in the middle of night, guess who's up? Okay. Now, now whining.
Starting point is 00:41:39 There is a point to this. When you get overwhelmed, and I wasn't overwhelmed yesterday, but it was close. You just have to take five minutes and stop. Sit down, lay down, and just decompress, deep rest. And then you have to get up and do it. what you have to do i hope you all have a very nice holiday weekend it's getting there okay i have a new column uh called trumpy four uh right after rocky four you'd like it and uh we will see you again on monday
