Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey Bill O'Reilly here. Welcome to the No Spin News for Monday, December 9, 2004, stand up for your country. Well, this morning, Daniel Penny, New York City, found not guilty of crimes in a terrible situation. He, Penny, Long Island native Marine Corvette on a subway, a guy named Jordan Neely, 30-year-old homeless blackmail, came into the subway car, was terrorizing the passengers. Mr. Penny sought to neutralize the conduct by getting nearly in a chokehold and nearly died. and it was a big, obviously big New York City story because many felt that the very far left district attorney, Alvin Bragg, should not have brought the charges as there were so many people in the subway car saying they were afraid of this guy. Neely, who was a trouble man, in a long
Starting point is 00:01:12 rap sheet. So anyway, it went to trial and the jury acquitted a penny of criminally negligent. and homicide this morning and last Friday of second-degree manslaughter. If he had been convicted, he would have had to do time. So now he's done. But he's being sued civilly by Jordan's family, and it never ends. And I'm going to do a more in detail analysis here for WABC, which is our flagship radio station. But I'll tell you that a case like this, even though I'm. I believe justice was done, because it was reasonable doubt all over the place about intent
Starting point is 00:01:54 and whether he died from the confrontation with Daniel Penny, he had drugs in his bloodstream, you know, on and on, okay. But there was reasonable doubt in my opinion. But there's also a race factor here that always comes into play in New York and many other urban areas around the country. So that's there as well. But all in all, I think justice was done. in this case so let's turn to politics and the final tally of the november election so we've got a map here it was on substack which is an online political platform and it shows all the counties in the country and where they voted the reds are all for trump this is an astronomical stat donald trump won two thousand five hundred fifty two counties harris won three
Starting point is 00:02:50 1, 382. And you can see where the blue is located. And that's interesting. So California coast all the way from the Mexican border up to almost Oregon is just flat out blue territory. But the rest of California is not. New Mexico is the highest number of counties per capita voting blue, voting for liberal candidates. And that's because in New Mexico, It's 66% minority in the state. And minority people generally are dependent on entitlements. And the Democratic Party, of course, the champion of big spending entitlements. So that's what that happens.
Starting point is 00:03:35 New England is solid blue. And that's been that way since 1992, except for Maine. Maine is a little independent. But New England is solid liberal across the board. And I believe, because I lived in New England for many years, went to Boston, U and Harvard, and then work local news up there, it's the schooling in New England. It's all liberal. The universities, the high schools, the middle schools, it's unbelievable. And if you are not liberal, you do not work.
Starting point is 00:04:09 Very hard to get a job, particularly in the college systems. And there's so many colleges in New England. So anyway, that's a big blue. New York is blue, but it's trending against the crazy progressive left. So Donald Trump did win in a landslide if you go county by county, which is really the way to do it. Because even though, you know, states like Montana and Wyoming, he's a rural states, Idaho, you know, these are Americans. And if you look at the communities across the country, overwhelmingly they're traditional. And the Democratic Party relies on L.A., Chicago, New York, and these massive cities, Atlanta, Houston, to survive.
Starting point is 00:05:03 Because again, in those cities concentrated are the poor who need the government subsidy. So that's how it shakes down. But I know, because I know this country as well as any human being does, that the overwhelming sentiment is away from the far left, away from progressive values. And that's the memo. Okay. Along with the Democratic Party getting decimated, and it is, there's no leadership, we went over that.
Starting point is 00:05:40 Very hard for Democrats to make a comeback, even four years from now. unless Trump screws up really big time. Trump does his job and fulfills some of his promises, you know, the big ones, driving prices down, controlling the border, calming down overseas, fulfills those, Vance will walk into the presidency. All right, because the Democrats don't have anybody that's nationally known. Okay, big disadvantage.
Starting point is 00:06:08 But the media took it worse than the Democratic Party. This is an astounding story. So on television, which is the primary vehicle that Americans look to for news, because they want local news, the weather, things like that, but television is the delivery system. That's changing now over to the Internet. I mean, my operation proves that. But the traditional television distributors of news and information,
Starting point is 00:06:41 That's unbelievable. MSNBC is through, as we reported. NBC is cutting ties with it. They may even have to move out of New York City. It was an article over the weekend. They might have to go to Northern New Jersey or Connecticut because they can't afford MSNBC can't afford to rent facilities in Manhattan not being part of NBC anymore.
Starting point is 00:07:03 They have to change the name. It's not going to be MSNBC. It's going to be like the tennis channel. It'll be there. I don't think it'll be out of business, but they'll have to, everybody will go. They're not going to pay millions of dollars to people anymore. So they're done.
Starting point is 00:07:15 CNN has to revamp. You realize in the morning, they do a morning show. Everybody does a morning show, right? So CNN in the morning is around 400,000 viewers. It's nothing. I mean, that's from Anchorage, Alaska, to Key West. There's 330 million people in this country. They got 400,000.
Starting point is 00:07:38 nobody watching them so they have to do something I don't think they're going to fold it but they got to I guess start all over the networks they had network news consists of morning programming and then the half hour they do at night and then you know they got 60 minutes and stuff like they're all declining huge and we gave you the numbers last week. Let's face it, the U.S. economy is under stress. National debt rising, trade war, shaking the markets. And meanwhile, China is dumping the dollar and stockpiling gold. That's why I protected my savings with physical gold and silver through the only dealer I trust, American Hartford Gold. And you can do this. Get precious metals delivered to your door or place in a tax advantage,
Starting point is 00:08:35 gold IRA. They'll even help you roll over your existing IRA or 401K, tax and penalty-free. With billions and precious metals delivered thousands of five-star reviews and an A-plus from the Better Business Bureau, you can trust American Hartford Gold as I do. Please call 866-326, 5576, or text bill to 998899. Again, that's 866-326-5576-5576, or text bill to 998899. Hey, I'm Caitlin Becker, the host of the New York Postcast, and I've got exactly what you need to start your weekdays. Every morning, I'll bring you the stories that matter, plus the news people actually talk about, the juicy details in the worlds of politics, business, pop culture, and everything in between. It's what you.
Starting point is 00:09:29 one from the New York Post wrapped up in one snappy show. Ask your smart speaker to play the NY Postcast podcast, listen and subscribe on Amazon Music, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. Big, big drops, because they all have the mindset. The only network that isn't in the liberal loop is the Fox News Channel. The Fox News Channel was declining drastically before the Trump resurrection. And Fox has done very well in the last six months covering the campaign because they're pro-Trump. And all the MAGA people go to Fox News, and that's a fairly big crew. But after this all subsides, I think the numbers in Fox are going to drop significantly because it's dull.
Starting point is 00:10:24 I mean, it's the same stuff. They can re-evigorate it. People want to watch it. Maga people do. Conservative, traditional people do. But you got it, you got it. You can't be saying the same thing every hour on the hour. My advice, take it for what it's worth.
Starting point is 00:10:43 So anyway, the corporate media, as we have described it, is really the big loser. A Democratic Party will come back, just a matter when. but I don't think a lot of the meeting is ever going to come back. So let's get another point of view on this. Joining us from Indiana is David Masiotra. He is a journalist, author of the book Exurbia Now, the Battleground of American Democracy.
Starting point is 00:11:12 So David, where am I making my mistake here? Well, thanks for having me, Bill. And I like the way you said the title of my book, The Sense of Theetrical Flair. your analysis is a little too broad and a little too narrow at the same time. So starting with the former, much of the decline, as you call it, in ratings and revenue, is temporary. So many liberal, progressives, left-of-center people felt such a punch to the gut by Trump's victory that they're just checking out. and the audience will return once Trump inevitably has some scandals, some failures, some lunatic behavior, the likes of which we saw during his first term.
Starting point is 00:12:04 Second, American culture is undergoing a series of degradations, most of which is an intellectual degradation, a consequence of which is journalistic decline. So adding to your analysis, we could talk about how two-thirds of newspapers have shut down since the year 2000. Over half of radio stations have shut down. Americans, fewer and fewer of them, are even consuming the news. They're no longer interested in debate. They're no longer exercising a civic responsibility. So the one thing on which I agree with you entirely is Fox News's success is because it's something of a Pravda for Trump voters. And you're correct, that's not going to last either because once Trump takes an exit from the stage, where are those people going to go?
Starting point is 00:13:04 Well, let's say. I mean, Vance is Trump light. So MSNBC and CNN's numbers were never, ever strong in the last. 15 years. They're always marginal numbers. So even if their audience comes back, they're coming back to mediocrity. All right? I did it for more than 20 years on Fox. Those people never came close to me, ever. In any way, at any time, we wiped them out, five, six to one, and it never got closer. So now with corporations cutting ties with MSNBC, they're not coming back anywhere. Are you not going to be able to find them? That's how bad that is. CNN, I don't know what they're going to do.
Starting point is 00:13:48 Because even when there was a hope that Kamala Harris would win, CNN's numbers were terrible. So let's turn our attention to the big three networks. They're all in the morning below 2 million. They used to do 5, 6 million. Late-night comics barely get 2 million. Carson did 9 million. So you've got to see.
Starting point is 00:14:12 that the eyeballs are not there, and I don't believe they're coming back. I disagree with you on that. Some will come back, not all, because it's part of a larger cultural trend in which fewer and few people have any trust in traditional media. Why is that? Why don't they trust it? Why don't they trust the traditional media? Well, first of all, most don't even pay attention to it.
Starting point is 00:14:39 I mean, the rates of civic political knowledge in this country are awful. But second, they don't trust it because there were a series of mistakes. You're going to say liberal bias, but things like helping the Bush administration sell an invasion of Iraq, for which the Washington Post and New York Times felt compelled to apologize. Missing. Yeah, but those mistakes, I was there. those mistakes were honest mistakes because you were getting information from a guy like Colin Powell, the Secretary of State, all right, that Saddam Hussein was peddling weapons of mass destruction,
Starting point is 00:15:21 had them. So they were honest. When you see an interview that 60 Minutes does with Kamala Harris, okay, and then you see a promo that's totally different. And then you ask politely to see the transcript of what Ms. actually said. This is right in the middle of a campaign. And CBS has blank you with the middle finger. You can't, you can't recover from that. CBS is not going to recover from that. Part of part of this bill is a cycle in which for decades and decades, right-wing commentators and journalists have clutched their pearls whining and pleading. that the so-called liberal media is biased against them, and it has an indoctrination effect
Starting point is 00:16:16 in which now you have half of the politically engaged public unwilling to believe anything they see on so-called mainstream media. That's a good point. There has been indoctrination, but the indoctrination was based on facts. So in 1996, when the Fox News Channel started, the business plan was simple, that the New York Times, the Washington Post, the three networks, CNN, did not give traditional conservative people access.
Starting point is 00:16:51 They wouldn't book guests. They wouldn't even consider their point of view. And so Fox said, we're going to be the opposite. We're going to give traditional conservative access. We're not going to ban left. I had just as many liberals on the O'Reilly factor as conservatives, because I like the joust. I like to do that. Now Fox, unfortunately, has gone away from that, and it's choir practice.
Starting point is 00:17:10 But we made that network based on giving everybody access in it because there was a wall put up by the left-wing media. You know that, David, any research at all in the New York Times at a Washington Post, the L.A. Times is a wall. You can't get through. And traditional conservative Americans resented that and still to this day resented. I think that you're overrating that effect. I mean, William F. Buckley wrote regularly for the New York Times. In addition to his own magazine, William Sapphire was a columnist with the New York Times. Again, way back, dinosaur.
Starting point is 00:17:49 Okay, but they always featured, and I just gave you an example where they helped the Bush administration sell, honest mistake or not, the invasion of Iraq. In 2016, the New York Times top story. They ran more articles about Hillary Clinton's emails than anything else. So I think you're overrating the liberal bias aspect of it. And you're overlooking that everything you're accusing the mainstream media of committing, right-wing media, is doubly guilty of doing. Not when I was there, it wasn't. I mean, I really went out of my way to present all sides.
Starting point is 00:18:33 of the equation, to the extent that we had paid contributors to come on and present the left-wing side. Let's look forward. Let's look forward. My hypothesis is that the left-wing media has been damaged beyond redemption. You disagree. And I respect that disagreement, because a year for now, we'll have you back and we'll see, you know, where they come back or anything. But say I'm right, as I am 90% of the time, I think that the, now the surge is into the social media, and there's certainly a lot of information there. Unfortunately, a lot of it is phony because there are no standards of behavior on social media, but I don't think that's going to ebb.
Starting point is 00:19:25 I think that'll even become more prominent. Am I wrong? I absolutely agree with you on that point, and that's indicative of a certain cultural decline. We don't have influence intellectuals anymore. We have influencers. So it was a major discussion point during the campaign of Harris would appear with Joe Rogan, which is like if in the 80s the biggest topic of conversation was whether or not Reagan would give an interview to Sam Kinnison. You know, there's an absurd.
Starting point is 00:19:55 absurdity to it. However, I would correct. Rogan's powerful guy. Rogan is a powerful guy. Yeah, there's no doubt about it. But I would correct you on one point. I mean, I watched your show routinely throughout the Bush years on Fox, and you did often have liberal, progressive guests. But look at the analysis you offered at the top of the program.
Starting point is 00:20:19 You essentially dismissed all of Harris's voters, tens of millions of people, as minorities who are dependent upon entitlements, or... No, I didn't dismiss them. ...who are indoctrinated by their teachers and professors. I contextualized it. I didn't dismiss them. Are you gonna really argue,
Starting point is 00:20:43 based on all the data that I'm sure you have assembled, that poor urban residents of this country don't lean left because of the entitlement of the entitlement system? Are you going to argue that's not true? I wouldn't argue that it isn't true that they lean left. First of all, poor people vote in very low numbers. No, no, no. They lean left for a reason. The reason is a Democratic Party is the party of entitlement. That's why they lean left. There are a variety of reasons why they lean left. But the main point is poor people vote in lower numbers than every other income group, as you know.
Starting point is 00:21:24 So that's not a major part of the Democratic appeal and coalition. The only reason that progressives control New York is because of New York City minority voters. That's the only reason. If you look at the last gubernatorial vote, it's the only reason. But you're saying minorities vote Democrat only because they're dependent upon entitlement. I didn't use the word only. I said that was the implication. Well, fine, you can take any implication you want.
Starting point is 00:21:54 That's the driver. And in New England, the driver is that it's almost impossible for a traditional conservative get hired as a teacher in the entire area. Hey, it's Sean Spicer from the Sean Spicer Show podcast, reminding you to turn into my show every day to get your daily dose inside the world of politics. President Trump and his team are shaking up Washington like never before, and we're here to cover it from all sides, especially on the topics of the mainstream media, So if you're a political junkie on a late lunch or getting ready for the drive home, new episodes of the Sean Spicer Show podcast drop at 2 p.m. East Coast every day.
Starting point is 00:22:33 Make sure you tune in. You can find us at Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcast. Power, politics, and the people behind the headlines. I'm Miranda Devine, New York Post columnist, and the host of the brand new podcast, Podforce One. These are the leaders shaping the future of America and the world. Listen to Podforce One with me, Miranda Devine, every week on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:23:17 You don't want to miss an episode. So what do you think the kids are going to come out? Last point, I'll give it a last one. Yes. My point is that you've dismissed and disparaged tens of millions of Democratic voters as people dependent upon entitlements, or if they're not dependent upon entitlements, they were indoctrinated by the educational system. And that's the kind of narrow, absolutist thinking that pollutes our media and degrades our discourse. I totally disagree.
Starting point is 00:23:53 My job isn't to be politically correct. My job is to tell the truth. And what I told the audience at the top is the truth. But I respect your dissent. That's what makes this country great. We kick it around. Now everybody knows what you think and everybody knows what I think and they can make their own decision.
Starting point is 00:24:17 And if the network media will like that, it would have five times as many viewers, David. I agree. Thanks for taking the time. We really appreciate. Thank you. All right, Joe Biden's schedule today, he's got a tribal nation summit at Department of Interior. Good. You know, Native Americans deserve to be heard, and he's going to hear him. And then he's got some party tonight from members of Congress at the White House, the holiday ball. Not to Christmas, it's a holiday ball. And I don't think that's going to be a blast there.
Starting point is 00:24:50 But we will cover it. Tomorrow. All right, new poll by Scott Rasmussen about Hunter Biden's pardon. First question. This week, President Biden pardon his son. All the crimes he may have committed. Do you favor or oppose? Favor 30, oppose 62. Two to one. Opposed? Not sure eight. Second question. President Biden has said. Hunter Biden was unfairly targeted by prosecutor's political purposes. Do you agree or disagree? Agree 37, disagree 54. And then there's a footnote to Rasmussen's research. 46% believe the Justice Department unfairly targeted Donald Trump. And 42% disagree with that. Okay. Now, there are two big media obsessions.
Starting point is 00:25:47 One is deportation of undocumented people, and the other is, will Trump take revenge on the people on the people who tortured him? Those are their obsessions in the media. Okay, so Trump goes on Meet the Press on Sunday yesterday, and here's what he said. Is it realistic to deport everyone who's here illegally? First of all, they're costing us a fortune. But we're starting with the criminals, and we've got to do it. And then we're starting with others, and we're going to see how it goes.
Starting point is 00:26:27 All right, that's an interesting statement. So the criminals are toast. All right, they're going to be gone. If he can catch him, if the federal government can track them down. But he didn't say he's going to break in the doors of peaceful undocumented people. He goes, we'll see how it goes. It's going to be a long process. It's going to be so many lawsuits.
Starting point is 00:26:52 It's going to be insane, how complicated it is if you are non-criminal. If you're criminal, you'll be able to get rid of you. Trump will. Now, I've done some analysis on this that you might find interesting. So if I'm President Trump and I, am sworn in on January 20th. On January 21st, I say every mayor and governor in the country must cooperate with homeland security. And if you don't, we are going to charge you, the governor or the mayor, okay, or the sheriff or whoever may be. You don't cooperate.
Starting point is 00:27:46 with obstructing a federal investigation. We can't be a felony. And then to make my point, I would send the head of the FBI, wherever it may be, probably be Cash Patel, himself, to California, wherever,
Starting point is 00:28:04 to put the cuffs on the politician involved. You got to have the evidence. You got to have it. And read that person. their rights. I bring cameras in. That's what I would do. We're not playing anymore. That is my analysis on that. But what do I think is going to happen in the end? I think a lot of criminal aliens will be deported. I think Mexico will cooperate and put their troops on the
Starting point is 00:28:39 northern and southern border, which will cut down the caravans and all of that, and the drug smuggling. and a lot of the wall will be built, and that will calm down. But interior, with the $15 million or whatever it may be, every state official has to cooperate or they get charged. Make sense to you? Bill at bill o'Reilly.com, bill at bill o'Reilly.com, name in town, if you wish to opine. All right, so I'm getting a lot of mail about why Mike Pompeo,
Starting point is 00:29:14 former Secretary of State under Donald Trump, 2018 and 21, isn't being considered for Defense Secretary, a job he could obviously do. There are two reasons. Now, I told you I would investigate, and I have, and I found two reasons. The first one is that Mr. Pompeo has been a little bit critical of Donald Trump.
Starting point is 00:29:35 Roll of the tape. First, if the allegations are true and there's lots of indications that they are, President Trump had classified documents where he shouldn't have had them, and then when given the opportunity to return to me he chose not to do that for whatever reason okay so trump didn't like that but the second and biggest reason is that pompeo has been a very ardent supporter of ukraine and american
Starting point is 00:29:59 military aid and money into ukraine trump's not there and he doesn't want another john bolton you remember that john bolton national security guy um was very very bullish on interfering and foreign situations and then Trump fired him and he turned on Trump so Trump fears that Pompeo if he lets him back in would do the same that's it take it to the bank and thank you for the letters by the way if you want to know about something let me know I'll find out all right Syria Assad has gone he ruled that for forlorn country for 24 years, been there briefly, horrible place. You don't want to go. So the army wouldn't fight for him anymore. He got on a plane, went to Moscow, and Putin gave him
Starting point is 00:30:56 asylum because he's been cooperating with Putin for 24 years. Putin's made a lot of money in Syria, by the way. And if you read my message of the day about Putin, And this guy, but can you imagine getting asylum in Russia? Is that really when you want to stay in the rest of your life? I don't think so. And he can't go anywhere. The side can't go anywhere. Any other Arab nations wouldn't take him.
Starting point is 00:31:27 Bad, bad guy. So right now we have a U.S. base in eastern Syria, keep an eye on ISIS. ICE is going to try to exploit this. We don't know the new leadership, but they don't have. having power other than Putin Assad out. They're former jihadists. Turkey is the main driver there. But Israel, obviously, if they don't like something, they'll come in. But this is good. That Assad's out of there. You're horrible, horrible. Now, the best summary I read was on Global Post. It was, you get everything you want to know about this in one page. So you know that,
Starting point is 00:32:10 they are our foreign news partners, Global Post, and they've offered a half off for all no-spin news watchers and listeners. It's globalpost.com. Like it's $23 a year. Well, you just go look at it today and see what they have. It's really good. So if you want international foreign news and they're not shaded it, it was a factor to factor to fact. I learned a lot. And it took me six minutes? Okay. College is dismantling DEI, diversity, equity, and inclusion. Here are the latest. University of Utah and Weber State in Utah. University of North Texas, University of North Florida, University of Missouri, University of Michigan. Whoa. They have one of the biggest DEI machines and they are now cutting back saying you don't have to make a diversity statement
Starting point is 00:33:12 when you apply for a job first step not woke first step okay colleges why are they doing this because enrollments down big time according to national student clearinghouse research center kids aren't applying I don't think the big reason is the woke DEI nonsense I think it's the money. So it's $80,000 to go to some private universities. Now it's ridiculous. Sir, totally insane. Okay, don't do it. Go to a state. You'll get just a good in education. So that's why I think is happening there. But it doesn't help. If you come from a conservative traditional home, you can't walk onto the College of Yale. you'll be scorned and shunned your grades might be affected by it you got to know where you're going all right California raised the minimum wage to twenty
Starting point is 00:34:14 dollars okay and it was centered around a fast food industry so according to the Employment Policies Institute we always back up our stats here 6,000 fast food jobs have been lost in California in a year and three months, $6,000. So McDonald's, Taco Bell, the in-and-out burger, they're going, we can do the same with less. But here's the kicker. AI coming in. And then I'm going to pay people $20 an hour.
Starting point is 00:34:53 So instead of keeping the minimum wage where the fast food joints can make some money, no. Virtue signaling. and now the industry is cratering. Smart Life Christmas cards, no internet cards, okay? Don't do that. Got to buy the card. Write the address on the stamp. Buy it.
Starting point is 00:35:16 A lot of people send printed cards like the O'Reilly family wishes you happy holiday. No. You write one or two lines, Hope Wall is well, or if you're something you know about it with you with a pen if you care about the people okay come on and here's a tip smart life tip if you've done someone wrong apologize right i'm a criss grandpa i'm sorry i did that if you ever want to talk about it i'm happy to talk about it you can really do a lot of good doing that okay and keep everything positive okay don't writing nasty stuff and a Christmas card.
Starting point is 00:36:02 The baby Jesus wouldn't like that. So let's get the Christmas card thing in order here. Stan History in December 9th, 1965, a Charlie Brown Christmas 59 years ago goes on the air. Roll it. I'll keep my directions simple. If I point to the right, it means focus, attention, stage right. If I make a slashing motion across my throat,
Starting point is 00:36:29 It means cut the scene short. If I make a revolving motion with my hand, it means pick up the tempo. If I spread my hands apart, it means slow down.
