Starting point is 00:00:00 Well, over the weekend, I was able to confirm for you, WABC listeners, that Andrew Cuomo is going to run for mayor of New York City. So I had a question, you know, about it, because I felt that Cuomo might want to get his old job back as governor because mayor is a step down. And I explored that. and I can't give you my investigative train, that wouldn't be fair to the people who are giving me the information. But I can tell you the information is solid at this point. Now, in New York State, anything can happen, whatever. So let me walk through it.
Starting point is 00:00:44 Mayor Adams is in trouble. It looks like the case is solid. That does not mean he will be found guilty. So if I were Adams, I would not resign. Due process, okay? He says he's not guilty. Mount your defense. That's what I would do.
Starting point is 00:01:06 New York Times wants him out, of course, because they would have a more progressive mayor, Jumain Williams, take his place, and that's what the Times want. Okay. So even if Adam stays and even if he's acquitted, which won't be before the next election. I don't think they'll get it up and running that fast.
Starting point is 00:01:31 It takes a while. He's damaged, and he hasn't done a great job anyway. City's a mess, everybody knows it. Migrants, crime, traffic, it's at its low point for the last 30 years. So Cuomo thinks he can be, Adams, pretty easily. in the primary, okay, Democratic primary. So I said to my sources, well, why won't he go for governor? Because Hogle's approval rating is in the 30s now.
Starting point is 00:02:08 She's not a popular governor, and things are getting worse all over the place. And then I got this piece of information. Cuomo has been doing internal polling, which you don't see, I don't see. he pays for it and then people go out and they polled them whether he could re-elected a governor and the poll came back and said no because letitia james the current attorney general is going to run in the primary against hokal she'll beat hokal and she'll beat quomo Titia James is a good chance to be the next governor of New York. Now, that's sobering because she is a very ardent progressive,
Starting point is 00:03:12 much more so than Hockel. Hockel's a machine politician, so is Cuomo. They're machine people. James is not. James is a true believer. So Cuomo does not want to go up against James in a primary and lose. So therefore, he has decided to go up against Adams. You heard it here, common sense, WABC, and we'll see if I'm right.
Starting point is 00:03:38 You know, I put myself out there. If I'm wrong, I'll admit it, but the investigation that we launched pretty good, I have to tell you, it's pretty good. But not infallible. Now, the other thing, the last thing I want to tell you about is Cuomo knows, Andrew Cuomo knows that if he runs in the primary against Adams, assuming Adams is still there, or Jumain Williams or whoever, that he's going to be attacked and other women are going to come out. because that's what he was charged with in the first place.
Starting point is 00:04:23 That's what got him booted out of Albany. And Letitia James was behind that. But he feels that there's enough distance, and he doesn't feel that there's any what they call smoking gun or big evidence that he did anything wrong. It'll just be the usual, well, he grabbed me or he did, or that, you know. And New Yorkers have heard it and heard it and heard it and heard it and heard it Now it might not have its same impact. So that's the thinking. I don't know. I can't tell you but they've been pretty methodical the Cuomo people in running this down. I can tell you that
