Starting point is 00:00:00 I hope you heard me and Sid Rosenberg in the morning. It was a good segment. We do him every Thursday. We do Casimittides and Rita every Monday. But today we talked about, of course, the protests and the bigger picture of really what's happening and how it applies to New Yorkers. First of all, the NYPD has done a magnificent job, and I congratulate Commissioner E. Edward Cabot. Now, a lot of people don't know the commissioner. He's new. And he keeps a very low profile. But Boyle, I'll tell you the discipline that I saw when the cops went into Dissemble, the protests at Columbia University was very impressive, very impressive. And the police went in. They did their job. No injuries. No violence. Protesters are gone. And it took them what two hours and believe me they have to take a lot of guff i mean these protests
Starting point is 00:01:08 spitting at them cursing at them you know uh it you really have to be disciplined and um cabin has uh really instilled that into uh the nypd cobbin i think it's a good uh anyway he's a good uh leader so far Also stepping up is Mayor Adams, and I was happy to see this. You probably heard this sound bite before, but I think it's worth playing again. Roll it. My uncle died defending this country. These men and women put their lives on the line, and it's despicable that schools will allow
Starting point is 00:01:50 another country flag to fly in our country. So blame me for being proud to be an American. I thank Commissioner Daughtry for putting that flag back up. We're not surrendering our way of life to anyone. So I'm really happy to see that kind of strong leadership coming from Eric Adams, who I have criticized in the past for being weak. He needs to do that more now, particularly on crime and public disorder. The mayor needs to get out in front of those issues.
Starting point is 00:02:29 And he should be visible to New Yorkers in doing it because that is our biggest problem right now. These protests are going to go away. I'm going to do it in the national program, which comes up right after the first break. As you know, if you listen to Common Sense, you know what we do here. We do a local monologue for about six minutes, and then we take a break, and then we do the national program. which is seen all over the world now, by the way. And the theme that I'm going to hit tonight is poor leadership from President Biden on down. And look, one of the weakest leaders on this protest thing is Senator Chuck Schumer,
Starting point is 00:03:12 the most powerful Jewish American in a country. And it took him 13 days, Schumer. It took Biden 13 days to get a statement out. but you expect that from Biden. You don't expect it from Schumer. This is from Brooklyn. He knows the turf. Why?
Starting point is 00:03:30 They're afraid of the progressive movement. Schumer and Biden are petrified of the far left, because the far left is vicious. And the far left provides millions and millions of dollars to the Democratic Party. So they don't want to go up against the extremist. inside their own party, and it's sometimes outside. I mean, some of these progressives are so loony that, you know, the Democratic Party, they want to
Starting point is 00:04:03 destroy. But anyway, I was so out of bad comes good very often. So these protests are bad. All right? This anti-Jewish stuff is terrible. And I have, my. sympathies go out to Jewish New Yorkers and Jewish Americans because you don't deserve this but we are now seeing what a noble organization the NYPD really is and the
Starting point is 00:04:41 leadership that the Commissioner is supplying and maybe Adams is wise enough maybe he'll take a hard stand against evil. That's what it comes down to. You've got to confront evil. Criminality is evil. Siding with Hamas is evil. You have to confront it if you are a leader or anybody else.
