Starting point is 00:00:00 So there's a bunch of stuff going on in New York City that has been underreported. The first thing is that COVID, when the pandemic hit 2020, really changed the financial profile of the city. So what happened was, and you know this, a lot of people work from home. And some folks, wealthier people, went down south in the winter and they were comfortable. there and they stayed there. So the New York State Comptroller, that's the person who controls the money, Tom DiNapoli, did a report and found that people filing income taxes in New York State has dropped dramatically since COVID. Not only that, but filers making more than a million dollars left the state at rates four times higher than everybody else. And millionaire
Starting point is 00:01:05 taxpayers constitute 45% of all income tax revenue to New York State, 45% paid by the very few millionaires. So we all know the profile. If you are a millionaire and up, you can live in Manhattan. If you're not, you live in the boroughs or in the suburbs. Because the rents are so crazy. Younger people can get three, four people and split it, but families can't afford to live in Manhattan most of the areas. You've got to go north or again to the boroughs. So, So the economic base of New York City, the money comes, because New York has a city tax, in addition to New York State tax and federal tax, highest tax, state and union New York, money comes from the fat cats who are demonized by the left-wing politicians who control New York, state, and city.
Starting point is 00:02:14 Then there's more. Okay, so the New York City comptroller, Brad, Lander, okay, Danapoli is the state, Lander is the city. Those two guys watch the money. He has told Mayor Adams, you can't spend any more money on migrants until you get my approval because you're spending the city into bankruptcy with the migrants. And now you're cutting back on cops, on fire, fighters, on on EMS, all the services, essential services, and cut back to, so the migrants, I estimate it's about 500 bucks a day that the city is paying to keep the migrants fed, house, educated, health, about 500 bucks a day on average, and it's hundreds of thousands of them here.
Starting point is 00:03:13 And Adams didn't force them to come here, but he welcomed them. with the Sanctuary City stuff and all of that. And now the city didn't have the money. So Adam's on the way down, talk to Biden, I guess. I don't know, Biden's not in Washington. He's in Boston today. We'll get into that. Then he's going out to L.A.
Starting point is 00:03:39 Biden doesn't work anymore. He just raises money for the re-election of the Democrats. He doesn't work. But anyway, Adam's going back down there to D.C., try to get federal money. They're not going to give them any federal money because they have to give everybody federal money then. So it's like Gerald Ford, you remember the big headline, New York Daily News. Ford to City dropped dead when the city was going bankrupt in the 1970s because we had poor leadership, which we have now. Terrible leadership in the city, awful.
Starting point is 00:04:11 And I don't know whether that's Adams' fault or not. The new mayor, he comes in. The city council is ridiculous. sure, but he's certainly not on the right track. I think that's fair. So Mayor Adams is not on the right track. Much stronger presence is needed in City Hall, turn around all kinds of problems that have besieging. And that's why people are leaving. Wealthy people are going, why do I need this? I mean, I can't leave. I got family. I got corporations. I've got all kinds of things that tie me to New York.
Starting point is 00:04:53 And I like living here, but I don't like how everything is chaotic. I really don't like that. And I don't like the corruption, I don't like the crime, and I don't like the taxes.
