It's another terrible situation, 120 in the morning, Queens, two police officers trying to pull over a young man, 19 years old, and he gets out of the, off the motorcycle he was riding, and shoots them both.
Bernardo Mata, illegal immigrant from Venezuela.
Now, I report this in a national program.
I'll fill in some blanks here.
But for the New York audience on W.A.B.C., I mean, how much longer are we going to put up with this?
So this guy comes through Texas, July 2023, comes up to New York.
We, the people, are paying his hotel bills at the courtyard.
Harriet in Queens, okay? The police say he's suspected in multiple robberies in that neighborhood,
and they got their eye on them. This is Elmhurst, okay? And so they see them doing something,
and they pull them over. Officers Richard Yeruso 26, Christopher Abraeux, 26, and Mata turns around,
shoots him.
She's Yeruso in the chest, and a bulletproof vest saved his life, and then a braille
gets shot in a leg.
So both cops are okay, and Mata is being held on bail, I guess, hard to get information
out of the New York authorities, but I wouldn't be, not.
They can't bail them out, couldn't they?
They can't.
Two cops shot?
This is absurd.
So the point is that this is the unintended consequence of New York City and state being sanctuary places.
I want to just review.
I'm going to play you two sound bites back to back, all right, about our mayor and our governor
on the sanctuary problem.
Roll it.
This city has always been a sanctuary city, and we've always managed those who wanted to come to New York City to pursue the American dream.
We say you are welcome here. We are welcome with open arms and we'll work to keep you safe.
We'll not only house you, but will protect you.
Well, who's going to protect the cops, Madam Governor?
Okay, pursue the American dream.
Does that mean having a legal gun and shooting police officers, Mr. Mayor?
And don't give me this Geraldo Rivera argument that most migrants are peaceful.
Yeah, that's true.
But that doesn't mean anything.
I mean, we're going to, in the next few moments, demonstrate to you how many illegal aliens commit violent crimes in this country.
And the number is huge because the Biden's open border policy.
And you don't get pushed back from Democrats.
Biden could be impeached on this because he's violating immigration law.
He, the president, is failing to enforce immigration law.
And that's leading to these kinds of incidents where two New York City cops get shot.
Just Friday, the guy who killed Lake and Riley in Georgia pled not guilty.
Another migrant from Venezuela.
You've got to understand it, these young men from El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua,
Venezuela, you name it, Mexico, of course.
They're coming out of violent societies.
These aren't, you know, Cub Scouts.
They're coming here, and this is what they've known their entire life.
And there's no restraints on it.
So after the shooting, Adams called it a senseless act of violence.
Okay.
total disregard for life, yes, and the cops were very professional.
Okay, but you're part of the problem, Mayor Adams.
You're a sanctuary city guy.
You don't report people like matter to the immigration authorities.
You order them to be protected.
These thugs.
Come on.
But he's trying to have it both.
waves. Oh, yeah, this is a sense. Wait a minute. What are you doing about it? What are you doing about it?
The mayor and the governor of New York are doing nothing. They are encouraging it and they are
charging the taxpayer to feed and house these people.
