Mayor Adam said he's going to run again. That's not going to happen. I'm predicting now that it will not happen.
Could he win if he does run? Possible. Emotional campaign, a lot of ethnicity involved in it, but I don't think he's going to get there.
Just too much swirling around here. However, I have no ill will toward Mayor Adams. I do not think he has done a good job, but he certainly light years better than
de Blasio, the worst mayor New York City has ever had in its entire history.
And that goes back to when the Dutch ran this place, New Amsterdam.
Blasio was such a disaster, people just don't know what kind of shape he left the city in
and Adams walked into it but has not been able to solve the problems.
In my opinion, I don't think he's a bad man.
I hope he's not.
I hope he's not corrupt.
and I'm going to give him a fair shake on the federal charges.
On a better note, as far as morale is concerned, we got a lot of sports stuff going on.
Now, I know many of you don't give a fig about sports.
You're much more into politics and policy and things like that.
And, you know, is sly and a family stone once saying different strokes for different folks.
But sports is a binder for New York.
city and state. So it began with Babe Ruth when the dopy Boston Red Sox allowed him to come
to the New York Yankees in the 1920s. And Babe Ruth dominated baseball and became the biggest
baseball icon in the history of the game. And remains, though, today. Bay Bruce's autograph goes
for a lot of money. And Babe Ruth brought the New York Yankees of professional baseball,
to a very high level and everybody knew even if you didn't care about baseball you know
bay brew and then then football came in and we have the nicks and the rangers and the islanders
and on and on and on and even as i said if you don't care you must know that this is relief
for millions of your peers you get away from the uh reality of the world which a lot of times
is harsh into sports so now we got uh the mets
which are always underdog, the team's always the underdog, and there, I had, they need one more win
to get into the National League Championship Series, and we're rooting like hell for the Mets.
Okay?
And then you've got the Yankees who are tied with Kansas City, they need two more wins to get into
the American League Championship.
I want the Mets and Yankees in the World Series.
Okay, that would be so fabulous for the city and the state.
All right, will that happen?
The heavy odds are against it, but that's what we're pulling for.
Then you got the New York Jets, another team, and I told you I was in London watching them against the Minnesota Vikings,
and after the game, which the Jets lost, Robert Sala, the coach was fired.
I feel sorry for Mr. Sala. I don't know him.
But anybody getting fired that publicly engenders my sympathy.
I'm not a mean guy, even though sometimes I appear that way.
Anyway, he's gone.
And now the Jets are in disarray again, but I'm still a fan, and I hope that they resurrect, which they can do.
So there's a lot of interest.
There's a lot of basic people getting emotionally involved with New York sports, just as people get emotionally involved with politics.
It's the same thing.
It's just a different arena.
Politics are much more important in sports because politics is life and death, literally, in some areas, like overseas, like Israel.
Okay, so it's life and death where sports are sports.
You'll lose the game, you lose the game.
There's no repercussions beyond that.
Final point I want to make before we get into a very lively national broadcast, which you hear after the first break.
And Kamala Harris, I think, is in some kind of true.
trouble now with the electorate. And I'm going to tell you what we know and we're going to advance
the story. The final point is don't get too emotional on the sports front. Don't let it make you
unhappy. Don't bet millions of dollars. In a case of working people, hundreds or thousands of
dollars. Don't bet on those games because you're going to lose. You win one, you'll lose three.
I mean, the wise guys know this, all right?
Do you want to bet $10, $20, that's fine.
But you're putting your paycheck out there.
Don't be an idiot.
You're not going to win in a long run.
