Starting point is 00:00:00 So I was on Sid and Friends this morning, and Sid was out. I was on with Andrew Giuliani, yeah, Andrew Giuliani, John Casimittes, owns the station, and Curtis Lewell. And I said on the program that the NYPD did a fabulous job, keeping these loons away from disrupting the Christmas tree. at Rockefeller Center last night. I mean, I was so impressed, and here's why I was impressed, so you know, those loons were provoking the cops. They were spitting at them. They were cursing at them, pushing them in some instances,
Starting point is 00:00:46 trying to kick them. And if the police had escalated, it would have developed into a riot. But the cops had discipline. Now, they didn't arrest any. They didn't arrest anybody, and Curtis was a little angry about that. I understand. But any arrest would have elevated the situation, because you would have had to drag the guy out,
Starting point is 00:01:12 threw them in a wagon, or, and it would have been what the protesters wanted, because they know that the DA and Manhattan, Alvin Bragg would never in a million years prosecute them, even if they hit a cop. The Bragg's not going to do it. So the cops maintain their discipline and restraint in the face of. These are bad people. These aren't, you know, well-meaning protesters, by the way. They are bad, evil people.
Starting point is 00:01:48 And they hate Jews or hate everybody, hate America. I don't care who they hate. I don't even entertain people like that. Never try to persuade them. All right. I either confront them. in a way that, you know, it was like, get out of here, or I ignore them. Ignoring them is best, because they want the confrontation.
Starting point is 00:02:09 But when you think about the New York City Police Department, it is a very, very hard job for not a lot of pay. And I've said this, these men and women, yeah, they're not perfect. Okay. My grandfather was an NYPD in the 1920s and 30s. I got his billy club. He uses billy club. My grandfather beat the hell out of people sometimes. I like to think that the people that he did deserved it. Okay, but I don't know. Now, we can't do that anymore. You've got to have a professional core. But without backup from the mayor, from the DA, from the police precinct commanders, I mean, I don't want the cops dragging these protesters in because they know. it's just a waste of time. No bail, they're out.
Starting point is 00:03:01 Bragg won't take the case. And, you know, the cop has got to fill out all the paperwork. It's just a waste. That's what's going on. But that does not mitigate the excellent work to keep these loons away from the peaceful people who just want them to enjoy the tree lighting, including hundreds of kids.
Starting point is 00:03:24 I mean, those people would have gone in there, those anti-Israel people, and they would have just created chaos, and they would have hurt people. That's what these people want to do. But the cops prevented that. And I haven't seen a lot of media coverage praising the NYPD, and I figured I'd get out in front of this, and I'm pretty harsh critic. If the cops do something bad, I'm going to tell you that, all right, but very, very impressed. I don't know. I mean, obviously, the New York Police Department is the largest in the country by far. L.A. is the second largest town, but they have half the number of cops that we have.
Starting point is 00:04:06 L.A. County's got the sheriff's. But, you know, as far as a city situation concerned, this is the roughest, toughest city to police. And the cops, I think, do an excellent job. If I'm in trouble in New York, and I was when I was a younger reporter, There were a few incidents where I'd do live shots in Dicey neighborhoods, and I had a call of cops. And they always came, and they always helped me. So I have, you know, that feeling and that remembrance. But again, congratulations to all of the NYPDs out there last night. And it showed remarkable restraint, and I respect that. And I'm frustrated like Curtis.
Starting point is 00:04:53 Yeah, I'm frustrated that this situation continues to go on. It just shouldn't.
