Starting point is 00:00:00 I was almost overwhelmed yesterday. I'm pretty methodical. I don't get overwhelmed. But yesterday, who's that close? Because the news cycle is still intense. And I ain't got to do all the personal stuff. You've got to remember all the gift giving. You've got to remember answer.
Starting point is 00:00:28 people who are sending you well wishes on and on and on and on and you get the same thing i'm not whining here i'm just stating reported and so when you get the combination of work and personal it just goes anything goes wrong and stuff always does um then things start to cascade down into chaos anyway i've had on the smart life segment tonight i'm going to give you a a preview of what i'm going to do on christmas eve which is my favorite part of this season. But first, the new president, Donald Trump, held a press conference yesterday, and that is the subject of this evening's Talking Points memo. So this was the first press conference that Donald Trump has held since being reelected. In his first term, Trump held 88 press
Starting point is 00:01:21 conferences. By contrast, Biden in four years, same amount of time, okay, has held 37. So 88, Trump, 37 Biden. Yesterday, President Trump alleviated for an hour and 11 minutes. But here was the headline. The press usually contentious, usually aggressive, mean-spirited, sometimes. They were, oh, it looked like they were all sedated. And there is a reason for that. And I'll tell you in a moment.
Starting point is 00:01:55 So Trump had the field all to himself. And I could have picked 10 soundbites, but there are two that caught my attention. The first one is on the drones. Everybody's speculating. Some people panicking. I love people panicking. And here's what Donald Trump said about the drone situation. The government knows what is happening.
Starting point is 00:02:19 Look, our military knows where they took off from. if it's a garage they can go right into that garage they know where it came from and where it went and for some reason they don't want to comment and i think they'd be better off saying what it is our military knows and our our president knows and for some reason they want to keep people in suspense and that's true uh but the big headline there is trump is not getting national security briefings from the bide administration he should be but he's not So another ridiculous situation coming out of the White House under Joe Biden, just tell the folks. All right, there's no update today.
Starting point is 00:03:05 I said to myself, find me something new, nothing new. They floating around and they won't tell us who's setting them up. And I do believe they know. Is that hard? Capture a few of them. You look at the hardware. You can trace it back. All right. The most interesting thing, as far as the country is concerned, because this drone thing isn't going to be big.
Starting point is 00:03:32 It'll be defined, but it just shows you how incompetent the Biden administration is. But the most interesting, long-lasting thing is that Donald Trump is going after the media. So yesterday we reported George Stepanopoulos defamed Donald Trump, and he did. And Seponopoulos does that to Republicans routinely, but this was really vicious. So ABC had to pay $16 million, a $15 million of which goes to the library that Trump will build after he leaves office, and a million to Trump's legal expenses. And George Seppinopoulos himself has to pay a million, I understand. They're keeping that kind of secret, but it's money out of his pocket. Okay.
Starting point is 00:04:16 So Trump wins the definition lawsuit that he filed against ABC because they say, settle. That's a win for Trump. In addition, Trump is suing CBS News, alleging that they took a soundbite from Kamala Harris and dishonestly edited to help Harris in the campaign. I don't know, but CBS News will not release the transcript, and that is certainly suspicious. And the third ones against the Des Moines Register, which had an outrageously wrong poll in Iowa. So the president addressed this. Go. I'm doing this not because I want to. I'm doing this because I feel I have an obligation to.
Starting point is 00:05:01 I'm going to be bringing one against the people in Iowa, their newspaper, which had a very, very good pollster who got me right all the time. And then just before the election, she said I was going to lose by three or four points. And it became the biggest story all over the world. because I was going to win Iowa by 20 points. We're filing one on 60 Minutes, you know about that, where they took Kamala's answer, which was a crazy answer, a horrible answer,
Starting point is 00:05:30 and they took the whole answer out, and they replaced it with something else she said later on in the interview, which wasn't a great answer, but it wasn't like the first one. The first was grossly incompetent. It was weird. And that was fraud and election interference by their news magazine, a big,
Starting point is 00:05:48 part of CBS News. All right, so we can expect more of this from President Trump. It's a good thing, because as we have chronicled here for years, the corporate media in America is corrupt, dishonest, hateful, and I've been in here 50 years doing this. There is no greater expert on the media in the world than me. How about that for braggadocio? But it's true.
Starting point is 00:06:17 I've worked CBS News, ABC News, Inside Edition, Fox News, and now we have the most successful independent news agency in the world. Want to know about the media? You come here. All right, so summon this up. Donald Trump is a big opportunity to at least intimidate the American media into being not dishonest. So you're never going to get good coverage if you are.
Starting point is 00:06:47 conservative Republican or Donald Trump. And believe me, they still hate Donald Trump, even though they're kissing his butt. Now, the sedate media yesterday at the press conference, they're scared. Because where do you see what happens in 2025? I mean, if I'm George Stephanopoulos, I'm not buying any big houses, if you know what I mean. If I'm the ladies on the view, I'm a look, you know, big things are going to happen all over. NPR, by CBS, CU, MSNBC, where do they go? One year, where do you see what happens? And we're on it.
Starting point is 00:07:27 We are on it. And it's all because they devoted so much hatred, and that's the word, toward one man, Donald Trump, that Americans, even some of those who don't like Trump. We can't tolerate this. They're using the First Amendment protections to try to destroy an individual. Donald Trump.
Starting point is 00:07:53 Can't have it. Huge story. And that's a memo. TikTok CEO, this is a fascinating, fascinating story. OK? So TikTok is an internet platform where you can post short form videos. It's enormously successful.
Starting point is 00:08:18 All right, they have all kinds of budgeting, cooking, finance, beauty, influencers, advice, tips, everything. Comedy. I have never been on TikTok in my life. I wouldn't know even how to get there. Let's face it, the U.S. economy is under stress. National debt rising, trade war, shaking the markets. And meanwhile, China is dumping the dollar and stockpile. gold. That's why I protected my savings with physical gold and silver through the only dealer
Starting point is 00:08:53 I trust, American Hartford Gold. And you can do this. Get precious metals delivered to your door or place in a tax advantage, gold IRA. They'll even help you roll over your existing IRA or 401K, tax and penalty free. With billions in precious metals delivered thousands of five-star reviews, and an A-plus from the Better Business Bureau. You can trust American Hartford Gold as I do. Please call 866-326-55-7576 or text bill to 99-88-99. Again, that's 866-3-26-5-7576 or text bill to 998899. Power, politics, and the people behind the headlines.
Starting point is 00:09:45 I'm Miranda Devine, New York Post columnist and the host of the brand new podcast, Podforce One. Every week, I'll sit down for candid conversations with Washington's most powerful disruptors, lawmakers, newsmakers, and even the president of the United States. These are the leaders shaping the future of America and the world. Listen to Podforce One with me, Miranda Devine, every week on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcast. You don't want to miss an episode. But I know it's powerful and it's owned by the Chinese. Okay? There lies the problem. It's owned by a company called ByteD-D-A-N-C. And it is run by the Chinese government as every
Starting point is 00:10:42 corporation in China is. So, people are worried that if you are on TikTok, your information is being stored by the communist Chinese. I don't know whether it is or isn't, but I guess it would be. So the following companies have banned TikTok. Afghanistan, India, Iran, Uzbekistan, Nepal, Somalia, and others. 13 countries have partial bans like the USA. Now, Biden has ordered TikTok, and they have a deadline, to put itself up for sale.
Starting point is 00:11:26 It has to sell. The communists have to sell. By January 19th, or Biden, one day before he's out of there, will ban it or do something. TikTok has appealed directly to the Supreme Court, which is why the government. This is so fascinating. There's no doubt that TikTok is owned by the Chinese government. No doubt. There's no doubt they can accumulate information about people who post stuff on TikTok.
Starting point is 00:11:53 What is the Supreme Court going to do? So TikTok has filed an emergency claim to block the federal law that would force the Chinese communists to sell the company. I don't know how the Supreme Court's going to rule. I don't know if they'll hear it. I don't know. It's big. It's big. I don't know what the Chinese communists would do with our personal information,
Starting point is 00:12:18 but I certainly don't want them have access to it. TikTok itself is just like all the other social media. There's a lot of garbage on it, but I guess there's good stuff too. Anyway, following the story for you. Biden administration, this is an unbelievable story that got no coverage at all. This is why you watch the No Spin News and listen to it on the news. radio. So Biden, unbeknown, nobody knows why, allows Iran to access another $10 billion in frozen assets. Because of the sanctions against Iran, much of the money the mullers have
Starting point is 00:12:59 parked in Switzerland, other places, was frozen. The government of Iran couldn't get it. Why? because it's the biggest state sponsorship of terrorism in the world, Iran. Millions have died because of Iran. So Biden goes, on November 7th, two days after he lost, why don't we give Iran another 10 billion? All told, Biden has freed up $100 billion to the mullahs. Why? You're building a nuke.
Starting point is 00:13:36 Why? They're killing people all over the place. And you give them $100 billion, you're freeing it up? Now, that doesn't our money, but they're unfreezing the accounts. For what reason? Biden didn't say a word. Now, Biden's the second worst president in American history, as I chronicle in my book confronting the president. But he's the worst in foreign policy, because James Buchanan, who gets the worst president, Mantle by a lot, Okay, there was no foreign policy back in 1856 to speak of. Biden's the worst.
Starting point is 00:14:16 This is not even close. It is not even, Lyndon Johnson, pretty bad. Vietnam and all that, Biden's worse. Again, $100 billion to the mullahs? For what? And Iran goes, it's for humanitarian age. You know, when I think of Iran, I'm thinking humanitarian, aren't you? Unbelievable.
Starting point is 00:14:39 But the real outrage of this is Biden never explains anything. Open border? I don't explain it. All right, joining us now is Rebecca Koffler from New York City. She is the author of the book, Putin's Playbook, Russia's Secret Plan to Defeat America. She is a specialist in defense intelligence. All right, so am I unfair to Biden here?
Starting point is 00:15:04 Am I overstating this Iran thing? You're 100% on target, Bill. It is absurd. The type of policy that Team Biden is pursuing is not only absurd and incompetent, it severely undermines U.S. national security. How so? You correctly pointed out that Iran is running a nuclear program. Well, where does all this money go to, whether it's the $6 billion that Biden unfroze last year for them, or this recent unfreezing, so to speak, it is financing Iran's war machine. And Iran's war machine is basically an asymmetric warfare type of machine.
Starting point is 00:16:02 What do I mean by that? Iran is running a broad network of proxy terrorist groups that includes Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, and Iranians are training and equipping and funding these groups that eventually and even currently, they pose a threat both to the United States and to the world. Right. Hasulah, Hamas, and all that. Exactly. We combed to find some explanation from Secretary of St. Blinken or National Security Advisor Sullivan or Kamala Harris or Joe, but nothing. No explanation whatsoever.
Starting point is 00:16:50 Have you in your research, did they ever explain why they're $100 billion? They're handing it to the Mullins? Did they ever explain it? My intelligence analysis suggests that the Biden administration is compromised by Iranian operatives. Remember, there's such an initiative, the so-called Iranian expert initiative, that basically was working with high-level positions across the Biden administration. Robert Amali, who was Biden's special envoy for Iran, right? His security clearance was suspended along with security clearances of some other operatives.
Starting point is 00:17:41 There's an individual still in the Department of Defense, and those, I would even call them assets. They're foreign intelligence assets because they are corresponding directly with the Iranian foreign foreign ministry officials. So that is my primary hypothesis. My secondary hypothesis is the 10% for the big guy. I just never trust the market.
Starting point is 00:18:07 Unless you have some backup for that, I don't want to do that. I mean, we're fact-based, but there's something shady going on. There's something shady going on. Right. Okay, let's go to Ukraine. So Biden basically,
Starting point is 00:18:24 it took him a while, but under pressure, he sent an enormous amount of U.S. money over there in military aid and humanitarian aid and got nowhere with Putin at all. Is that an accurate statement? Putin, nothing. You didn't get any kind of dialogue with him, no concessions, and it looks like Trump is going to get some kind of deal.
Starting point is 00:18:47 But again, that's not a fact. I've talked to the president myself about it, so I can say with confidence that he believes he'll get a deal. Whether he does or not, I don't know. But Biden got nowhere. Am I right? Correct. Not only Biden hasn't gotten anywhere,
Starting point is 00:19:04 it is on Biden's watch that half a million of Ukrainians are dead or gravely wounded. 50% of Ukrainians' infrastructure, critical infrastructure, is destroyed right now, which means that this winter, they're going to be. freezing in darkness, and that is because this war was never winnable for Ukraine. How so? From the combat potential standpoint, combat potential is calculated by a combination of weapon systems armed forces, the defense industrial basis capacity to scale up in defense economics. Russia just overmatches Ukraine hands down. It always has. I know, but we had to stop Putin and we inflicted tremendous pain on Putin, not only us, but NATO and all. You just can't let him
Starting point is 00:20:04 just run rough shot over these countries. But I have one more question for you. If a stronger, a stronger leader, I don't think Putin, Trump says this all the time, and I think he's right. Putin would have not done that if Trump with the president, because Trump would have really hurt Putin, much more so than Biden did. All right, so Sullivan is over in the Middle East, desperately trying to get the hostages released from Hamas's control before Biden leaves office. That is priority number one. So Biden's going out a loser, but he wants to have one victory before he goes. Do you believe that that will happen, the release of the hostages? Well, we know that Prime Minister Netanyahu and Israel's defense minister are working very, very hard on making that deal.
Starting point is 00:20:57 The problem is that Hamas is like playing games as usual, and Hamas does not want to release nearly the number of hostages that they're holding. Right now, there's still about 100 hostages that they're holding. So it's going to depend. We need to let the Israelis do their job and not micromanage the war. You know, as Biden has been doing calling for ceasefire, this and that. Well, that's not going to happen. But I understand from reliable sources that a lot of the hostages are dead. It's not numbers in close to 100 now.
Starting point is 00:21:36 A lot of them have died. But again, it's Iran that could make it happen. So Iran tells Hamas, release those hostages, or we're cutting you off from everything. They're going to have to do it. They're like gangs. Last word. Well, if you want to put pressure on Hamas, unfreezing billions of dollars is not there out. That's not the way to do it.
Starting point is 00:21:59 You need to gain leverage over them. It's just I'm a historian, as you know, I have never seen stuff like this in my lifetime. And, you know, I go back to George Washington. As far as our researchers, never seen anything like this. Rebecca, thanks very much to Butch again, is Putin's playbook. And if you're interested in Foreign Affairs, that's a good read. Okay, drone madness update. Don't have much for you, and this is another insane thing.
Starting point is 00:22:25 I mean, to me, I don't know anything about drones. I can barely put gas in my car. But if I'm the governor or I'm the head of Homeland Security, I just shoot them down and then I get them, and I look at them and say, who owns them? You know, they can find out. Just blast them out of the sky or get a big net or whatever they do, all right? Well, we don't know.
Starting point is 00:22:48 We don't know. How long is this going to go on? You don't know. Governor Jersey doesn't know. Governor New York doesn't know. Mayorkis doesn't know. Oh, we don't know. It shows you the incompetence.
Starting point is 00:23:01 The incompetent. It's just incompetent. It won't tell us what it is. They got to know something. They just don't appear. Somebody shoots them up there. Find them out, who? Is that hard?
Starting point is 00:23:14 It doesn't seem to be hard. But I don't have anything hard news for you. We're watching it. Speculation is stupid. I know they do it on a cable show. Well, it could be. We don't do that. Not going to waste of time.
Starting point is 00:23:28 Madonna, talking about a waste of time. Madonna is top of the list, cultural madness. So on Friday, she puts out pictures, and they're very offensive. So if you're easily offended, you don't want to just turn away. I'm only going to keep them up there for five seconds, all right. But this is Madonna, the singer-intertainer. Throw the pictures up there.
Starting point is 00:23:52 And they show the Pope and her. This is AI. All right, take them off. Listen and subscribe on Amazon Music, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. All right. So this is a provocative thing because the woman is desperate for attention.
Starting point is 00:25:07 that's what she wants attention puts it out on the internet following media picked it up new york post us weekly independent mirror tmz daily mail times of india the sun news week premier christian news i'm sure they criticized it economic times uh and they picked it up okay so if madonna had done that with an imam a fatwa would have been been issued and her life would be in danger. If she had done that with a rabbi, a rabbi, she'd been anti-Semitic. If she had taken any minority group and done that,
Starting point is 00:25:51 she would never work again in the entertainment industry. But she can mock the Pope and she can be sacrilegious to Christians, nothing will happen to her. But don't forget it, I won't. Secretary of State, Blinken, finally shows up to the House Foreign Affairs Committee because if he didn't, he was going to be held in contempt of Congress. They wanted to grill him on the embarrassment of the surrender in Afghanistan, which has led to all kinds of horror to the United States all over the world, as Biden showed weakness.
Starting point is 00:26:28 Here's what a portion of what Blinken said. Even the U.S. government's most pessimistic assessments did not anticipate that the Afghan government and security forces would collapse so rapidly in the face of Taliban advances. Nevertheless, because of the administration's extensive interagency planning coordination, when Kabul fell on August 15th, the United States was able to evacuate our embassy and relocate our diplomats to the airport within 48 hours, and then conduct the largest airlift in U.S. history, helping approximately 120,000 Americans, Afghans and citizens of allied nations depart Afghanistan in just two weeks.
Starting point is 00:27:09 What a bunch of bull. I mean, everybody remembers the pictures of the people hanging off the planes. You know, some of them died of the 18 military, U.S. military people who were killed. It was a 13 or 18. You know, everybody remembers, and that didn't have to happen. So Donald Trump had a deal with the Texas. Taliban. And the deal was, you don't shoot at Americans, and we won't shoot at you. Eighteen months. We had our strength in Bagram Air Base, where I spent some time. I know the turf. There was no
Starting point is 00:27:50 threat to Bagram by the Taliban. They couldn't do anything because we had our air power, helicopter power, way more than the Taliban had. But when Biden signaled that he was going to surrender to the Taliban, which is what he did, the president of Afghanistan bolted out of there with all kinds of money. Okay. And that's send the signal to the Afghan army. We better get out of our uniform or we're going to be executed. And that's what happened. Biden caused, that? The Taliban were not going to overrun U.S. forces. Now, we had to get out of there. Trump knew we had to get out of there, but you do it in an orderly way. And I never would have given up Bagraim, ever. That would have remained in U.S. hands to make sure that there were no atrocities
Starting point is 00:28:45 by the Taliban. And that would have been it. That's the deal. You don't like it? Too bad. we weren't losing anybody. As I said, Trump had a deal in place, 18 months, no U.S. casualties. And Biden comes in and goes, we give up, goodbye, and then all hell breaks list. And this is blinking, oh, we did this, we do it, and you'll remember the worst ever was Biden in one of his few comments about this going, no, no, it was excellent. No, we had a great job. Billions of dollars of American armaments went to the terrorist Taliban.
Starting point is 00:29:24 Billions. Yeah, that's great. And that's why Biden go down in history is the second worst president ever. Don't believe me. Just pick up confronting the president. I back it up 50 ways. Okay. What else have we got for you tonight?
Starting point is 00:29:41 Media madness. Unbelievable media. Okay, New York Times finally reports accurately on the illegal immigration catastrophe. Finally. Now, they had this story. They could have reported it last year. What do they report yesterday? All right? Quote, annual net migration number of people coming to the country minus the number leaving. Average 2.4 million people from 21 and 23, according to the Congressional Budget Office. Total net migration during the Biden administration now likely to, exceed eight million people. That's a faster pace of arrivals than during any other period
Starting point is 00:30:23 on record, including the peak years of Ellis Island traffic when millions of Europeans came to the United States. Even after taking into account today's larger U.S. population, the recent surge is the most rapid since at least 1850, New York Times, December 11. Why? Why? Has Biden ever explained it? No. Not one time. Why? And with all of the horror that we have experienced as a nation because of it, again, get, boy, when he leaves, happy day. And just in facts, 60% of the migrants that are in the USA now are here illegally, according to a Goldman Sachs study. America's foreign-born population, 15%. Highest number ever, up from 13% in 2020.
Starting point is 00:31:25 You see the damage this guy is done, by it. Now, it's not bad to have immigrants here. We all know that's a good thing because they work very hard and they contribute. But unsupervised, that's when you have crime and terrorism. So anyway, New York Times finally gets it. Okay. Drone hysteria. I live right off the Long Island Sound and is a drone. Okay? And everybody's going, what's that? And then in Jersey, there are scores of them. It's floating around. Nobody knows. FAA, Governor in New Jersey, I don't know. And so the media jumps in.
Starting point is 00:32:14 Oh, it's Iran, it's China, it's, you know, it's not any of that. I remember when I was six years old, I went to the Westbury movie theater in Long Island. I saw invaders from Mars, scared of it, bejesus out of it. So this guy comes down from Mars, got a giant head, nobody, they am in a jar, and he hypnotizes people. That's what I think this is. I think there's invaders from Mars, too. Now, I'm laughing about it, but there's something behind it. So let's get it.
Starting point is 00:32:53 You know, take those drones down, look at them, trace it back. Is that hard? And the media is just out of their minds about this. Okay, I got a lot of mail on this Luigi Mangione, or why he has not been charged with first-degree murder in New York City for the assassination of United Health Care CEO Brian Thompson. You remember the story December 4th. Okay. It is a technical thing.
Starting point is 00:33:26 So in New York State, there's no difference between first-degree murder and second-degree murder as far as sentencing is concerned. You can get life without parole. They classify it first-degree murder when you can. a judge, a cop, a state official, and an act of terrorism, something like that. It's just a paper thing. So Luigi Mangione will never see the light of freedom again. 26 years old is this nut, and he is a nut, all right? He's mentally ill.
Starting point is 00:34:01 If you saw him in Pennsylvania being taken into custody, you've got to know that. In fact, every single assassin that I've ever written about and is for them in confronting the presidents, and then there are a couple of would-be assassins, they've all been mentally ill, because you're basically throwing your life away. And then, you know, the ancillary things about, you know, health care, insurance companies are the devil, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, the far left, as we talked about yesterday is exploiting that. We know that.
Starting point is 00:34:33 But this is the truth. The TikTok idiots who are justifying this assassination, they're as mentally ill as the assassins. And they never would have been heard from 10 years ago. But now they get a forum. And now the media takes that and runs while with it. There aren't many of those people. Most Americans notice is not acceptable.
Starting point is 00:34:58 And this guy never should be free again. And that's the truth. San Diego Sheriff, and that's an interesting story. Kelly Martinez, with the San Diego Police Department, Sheriff's Department, 39 years.
Starting point is 00:35:15 She's the chief. She says, hey, we're not obeying the county supervisors saying that we shouldn't cooperate with Homeland Security. We're not. The Sheriff's Department of San Diego
Starting point is 00:35:30 is going to cooperate with ICE. We don't care what the county commissioners say. Good for you, Sheriff. I'm going to try to get around next week. So we reported yesterday, county commissioners are loons. All right, far left people. Oh, we're not to cooperate with the criminal investigations, not just regular migrants.
Starting point is 00:35:54 These are criminals. We're not giving ICE anything. Sheriffs know, yeah, we are. Yeah, we are. Now, I'll be interesting to see what the San Diego Police Department does. So the sheriff covers the county, and this is a county thing. But we're on it. And again, I'll reiterate any public official that interferes of the federal investigation should be arrested.
Starting point is 00:36:20 Let's go to RFK Jr. So the update is that he is going to make his case in front of the Senate shortly after the first of the year, according to the finance chairman, Mike Crapo, from Idaho. He's not going to make it. He's not going to make it. And I'll tell you why. Two reasons. The conspiracy stuff, if you research RFK Jr.,
Starting point is 00:36:45 and the senator as well, is crazy. I mean, he has rejected the science that HIV causes AIDS. He's pushed, or at least at least he, he has considered the idea that coronavirus was targeted at non-Jews and Chinese. That non-Jews and non-Chinese people were the targets of the coronavirus. And I can tell you from my research in the Kennedy books that RFK is out there. I've always had a decent relationship with him. There's no way I vote to confirm him as department head for health and human services.
Starting point is 00:37:37 And then there's abortion because many of the Republican senators don't want unlimited abortion, and JFK Jr. does. His quote is, I don't trust the government to make decisions for Americans, and that mothers make the best decisions. Well, some mothers make the best decisions. others panic and then abort their children very late in term. And you're basically saying, those unborn, 5th, 6, 7th, 8th, 9th month, no protections? Republican senators aren't going to go for that. So I don't think he's going to make it. Could be wrong.
Starting point is 00:38:22 We'll see. If I'm wrong, then obviously if I'm wrong, you know, I'm going to have to say I'm wrong. All right. I don't know, Hague Seth, you know, it backs and forth, the media doesn't report him accurately. If I were in the Senate, I would give him a fair hearing, but he'd have to convince me that he has the knowledge to run the biggest corporation in the world, which is the Pentagon. And he doesn't have any experience doing that. Now, you can make a case that Donald Trump had no experience in the federal government, and I think his term was good for the first term. generally speaking um make that case so i think you got to give hey seth a hearing a fair here smart life all right christmas eve as i mentioned two weeks two weeks one week from today
Starting point is 00:39:14 favorite time for me so what i've done over the years it's almost like a tradition very personal tradition is that i take about an hour and a half maybe two hours at night, Christmas Eve night. And I just ride around. I know it's against global warming and all that. I don't do any parties or any lavish stuff on Christmas Eve. It's more of a quiet time. And when my children were younger, I said, hey, let's go. We're going to go and take a ride with dad, and we're going to play Christmas music on the radio and look at all the life. Because here on Long Island, we have decorative homes everywhere, and it's fun. It's fun to do that.
Starting point is 00:40:03 I could never get these urchins in the car. There's no way to, they're looking at me like, what? I said, yeah, when I was a kid, I used to do this, my father used to do it. And they did go, no. And I didn't force them to go, but I couldn't get anybody to go. But I go. And I just kind of drive around, listen to the nice music, look at the decorative homes, decorative homes, and then I go into some of these wooded areas, you know, if it's not too cold,
Starting point is 00:40:32 they'll take a walk. I just want a little solitary piece, just for a little while. You know, it's not the whole night. I try to watch Christmas Carol with Alistair Sim, and a very alert viewer pointed out that wasn't the original. I think I said it was. Reginal Owen, the British actor, was the original. But Sim is the best as Scrooge. That's really. I'm really good. I try to watch that. And then I have a book, Washington Irving, that's Rip Van Winkle, that's Sleepy Hollow. He wrote great stories about Christmas in colonial times, and I like to do that.
Starting point is 00:41:09 So for me, it's basically a contemplative day, Christmas Eve, beginning when the sun goes down, it's here on Long Island, about 4.30 now. And Trump is going to, is Trump going to do away with daylight saving time completely? Is that what he wore? It's good, the clock's turning back. It's crazy. But anyway, that's my smart life segment to you. If you can just take a little time for yourself
Starting point is 00:41:36 and just kind of do it, like, a walk, or, you know, think about it. And it doesn't have to be a religious thing. We do go to Mass. Usually go to Midnight Mass. Now many of the churches have 10 p.m. Mass. Because people are nodding out during the sermon at midnight Mass. So they moved it up to 10. I like to go around four or five, the earliest mass.
Starting point is 00:42:02 I don't know why, but that works in to my tabloom. Smart life. Have a great, you know, week or so coming up. Final thought of the day. My second job in broadcasting was at WFAA TV in Dallas, Texas. First job was in Scranton, WNEP. All right, that was 47 years. years ago, 1975, wait a minute, 1975, 25, 49 years ago. No, you're kidding me. Oh, God.
Starting point is 00:42:35 Anyway, roll the tape. As you can see, the Christmas season has begun in most department stores. In about three weeks, the shopping crush will begin in earnest, and along with all the shoppers will come the shoplifters. Retail experts estimate over $3 million in merchandise is stolen from the nation's stores daily. That one person in 10 is a potential shoplifter, and never is shop theft worse than in the season of giving. Well, a little down, right? I could have been a little livelier,
Starting point is 00:43:05 the hair, the night the 70s. So in January, I celebrate my 50th anniversary in the media. Oh, but Victor Garcia, who is our ace internet guy, no escaping Victor, he'll find it. Ferreted that out. I was at North Park in Dallas, okay? I think it was Neiman Marcus.
Starting point is 00:43:29 I lived in Richardson, which was just north of Dallas. And Dallas, you know, for a Yankee like me, that was an interesting experience. 49 years ago. Oh, man. Thank you for watching and listening to the NoSpin News. We'll see tomorrow.
