Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey Bill O'Reilly here. Welcome to the No Spin News, Wednesday, May 31st, last day of May, 2003, stand up for your country. So justice for all is the centerpiece. of our republic. And throughout history, we have not had justice for all, as everybody knows. But we were making great strides toward that until recently when the justice system in America fell apart. Okay? On two levels, first of all, without justice, we're no better than China or Russia or Iran. I mean, we may say we're better, but really without justice, we're not. So we have to have people in positions of power, district attorneys, police chiefs, police
Starting point is 00:01:14 officers, the attorney general. These people have to be competent, fair, and honest, and that's what's falling apart. I got two examples for you. One, we've gone over and over and over is the corruption of local criminal justice, where violent criminals now in big cities run by the far left are given a pass to hurt you. We've documented time and time again how that's coming on. But here is The Crusher, and that is the subject of this evening's talking points memo. Christopher Ray, FBI chief appointed by Donald Trump, took over from the corrupt James Comey, as you will remember.
Starting point is 00:02:09 Trump thought he was going to be effective. He has now proven not to be that. Let me make my case. So everybody knows that the Biden family is being investigated because it enriched itself. by taking money from foreigners and foreign nations, from private individuals, in Ukraine, in Russia, in China, and people who are working for the government. Everybody knows that investigation
Starting point is 00:02:44 has been underway for at least five years. And the centerpiece of that is the Hunter Biden laptop. Okay? So we as a people, we wait. for the Justice Department, this is a federal offense, to compile evidence to say yes or no, the vice president of the United States at the time Joe Biden used his office to enrich his family and perhaps himself. We have been waiting for five years. There is a whistleblower that made accusations to the FBI
Starting point is 00:03:26 that Joe Biden himself took bribes okay we live in the United States of accusation most accusations are false they are not valid they cannot be backed up idiots write stuff on the internet
Starting point is 00:03:48 every day that is absolutely untrue Keep that in mind. But when a whistleblower goes into the FBI and says something about a sitting vice president a few years ago, if that whistleblower lies, that is a crime. Keep that in mind. So the House Oversight Committee, chaired by James Comer, Congressman from Kentucky, wants to see the allegations the whistleblower has lodged.
Starting point is 00:04:26 The FBI has filed those allegations under F.D.1223. That's a form. It's in writing. Comer has asked that the FBI show the House Oversight Committee that form. Ray is refusing. Comer then issues a subpoena for the form. Ray refuses to provide it. Here's what the FBI says. Quote,
Starting point is 00:05:01 Reporting by confidential human sources is one important form of highly sensitive law enforcement information upon which the FBI relies to develop leads, assess the credibility of potential evidence, and sources, build investigations and take action to enforce a criminal law or protect national security. Department of Justice policy strictly limits when and how confidential human source information can be provided outside of the FBI, unquote. There's validity to that statement. It's not some kind of excuse that Ray usually does.
Starting point is 00:05:40 So when they call Ray to testify in front of Congress, all he says. is, I can't talk about it. It's under investigation. You know that. We've seen that. How many times do we see that? That's his fallback. I can't say anything. It's under investigation. There's validity in this that every accusation that comes to the FBI can't be made public because it could wipe out reputations everywhere. But what Ray could do is call Comer and a couple of key senators in this case, like Chuck Grassley, and Democrats, too, maybe four, two Republicans, two Democrats, into FBI headquarters and show them the memo. Don't give it to them. Show them. And redact any kind of name that might get that person in trouble, like the whistleblower's name.
Starting point is 00:06:38 They can do that, right? Ray's not going to do it. So the only conclusion that I, a fair man, can come to, is that Ray does not want to proceed in this investigation against Joe Biden. And it makes perfect sense, because Biden could fire Ray tomorrow, and Ray's immediate boss, Merrick Garland, okay, certainly doesn't want this. So Ray would be basically saying, I'm out of here.
Starting point is 00:07:13 if he cooperated with the House Oversight Committee. So he's not cooperating. So what happens now? Well, the Republicans say they're going to hold Ray in contempt of Congress, which is a felony. It's a crime. Ray doesn't seem to be bothered by that, even though Steve Bannon went to jail. And I'll just tell you about that in a moment. So Ray, he's not real concerned.
Starting point is 00:07:43 Okay? Why? Well, because a former attorney general, Eric Holder, under President Obama, defied a congressional subpoena about the fast and furious gun smuggling New Mexico case. Holder wouldn't say anything, wouldn't turn over any evidence. What happened to Holder? Nothing. Justice Department, which he headed, didn't file any charges against him. And Holder knew he wasn't going to be. prosecuted. So he just said, blank you, Congress, undefying the subpoena. But Bannon couldn't do that because Bannon held no government position in Merrick Garland through the book at Bannon. And that was about testimony on the Capitol riot on January 6th, 2021. Bannon just said, I'm not going to, I'm not going to testify. So he's found guilty in July 22, two counts of criminal contempt of Congress. And they sentenced them to four months in prison. Find him $6,500. So Bannon goes and gets punished.
Starting point is 00:08:53 Holder doesn't. You think Ray's going to get punished for defying the subpoena? It's impossible. Merrick Garland would have to prosecute him. Merrick Garland prosecuted Bannon. That's fine. Not going to do his buddy Ray. So what happens next?
Starting point is 00:09:13 Kevin McCarthy, the Speaker of the House, has got to make a big deal out of this. All right, once this debt ceiling thing gets put to bed tonight, which it will, and I'll explain that in a moment, then full court press by McCarthy and the House Republicans saying can't stand. And they've got to drag President Biden into it. They've got to do all that stuff. Okay. And it'll probably lead nowhere because there is no other apparatus. If the Justice Department doesn't charge Christopher Ray with contempt of Congress, then nothing happens.
Starting point is 00:09:51 See? Nobody else can do anything. So this is corruption, and this is an erosion of the justice system. This isn't equal justice for all. Bannon goes to jail, but Eric Holder doesn't. Is that equal justice? Is it? No, of course it isn't.
Starting point is 00:10:11 So that's a myth. And the FBI's reputation, even people who are Democrats and supporters of Biden and all this, gone. Gone. Most powerful law enforcement agency in the world shattered. And if you want to know about the FBI, I read my book, Killing the Mob. All right, I explain everything about it, the good and the bad. But I admired the FBI up until a couple of years ago, Comey. Comey destroyed it for me.
Starting point is 00:10:49 Now, it's a joke. It's a joke. Not the agents. I always say this, but I have to say it because I know we have some watching. The agents are still the best in the world. Other nations plead for FBI assistance in crimes. They want us to go there and help them. The FBI agents are not.
Starting point is 00:11:11 the problem. It's Washington, the headquarters. And that's the memo. All right, so President Biden does nothing today except get on Air Force One and travel of Colorado Springs, where he will give the commencement address to the Air Force Academy tomorrow, and that's fine. We'll monitor what he says, but we don't expect any, you know, he's just going to give the standard stump speech that's written for him. And I've got exactly what you need to start your weekdays. Every morning, I'll bring you the stories that matter, plus the news people actually talk about,
Starting point is 00:11:48 the juicy details in the worlds of politics, business, pop culture, and everything in between. It's what you want from the New York Post wrapped up in one snappy show. You can find us at Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcast. Vote tonight in the house on the debt ceiling. As I told you from the very beginning, McCarthy will win this and we went over it yesterday. If you missed the no-spin news yesterday and you are a premium or concentrate each member, you can watch it on demand anytime you want and get a written transcript free. So I'm not going to go over it again. I'm just going to tell you that more than a month ago, I said this is a bogus story, this debt ceiling deal will be reached, and it will pass, and it will tonight. And the zealots on both sides
Starting point is 00:13:13 who object to it, okay, you know, we still have free of his speech. I don't know how much longer, but we have it. You can object. But remember, the real fanatics on the right and the left don't have the numbers. We remain a moderate nation, even though it doesn't seem like that because of the corrupt media. All right. Now here is an example of corruption in the media. ESPN. They have a sportscaster named Samantha Ponder. She is 37 years old. She does NFL countdown on ESPN. She said in a tweet, quote, this, allowing biological men to compete with women when they trans, this would take away so many opportunities for biological women and girls in sports. It's a shame that we are needing to fight the integrity of Title IX in 2023,
Starting point is 00:14:18 and the reason it was needed in the first place. Title IX prohibits discrimination based on sex in sports when the schools get money from the federal government. title nine. So, Samantha Ponder believes as I do and probably as you do, and if you don't believe this, please write me, bill at bill o'Reilly.com, bill at bill o'Reilly.com, that a biological man, male, okay, on the birth certificate, male, develops physically different than a biological woman. Okay, that's fact. Scientific fact. Even when you transition from a male to a female and take hormones and all this other business,
Starting point is 00:15:05 your basic biology remains the same. Men are stronger than women in most cases. The way God made us. Now, I know most of these activists don't believe in God, but biology is biology. So to have a trans man who wants to be a woman in the swimming pool with other women or in any sport is unfair to the biological women. That's it. That's just common sense. But not on the woke side.
Starting point is 00:15:40 No. USA Today, one of the leaders in pushing woke on America, that newspaper has declined dramatically, has a columnist named Nancy Unleck. armor. And she writes, quote, don't be fooled by the people who screech about fairness to cloak their bigotry toward transgender girls and women. The transgender girls and women who have the audacity to want to play sports in particular. This is and always was about hate, fear, and ignorance. So she's basically calling Samantha Ponder a bigoted hater. That's what this woman is doing, Nancy Armour, who herself, it seems to me, could be a bigoted hater. Maybe I'm wrong, I don't know her, but that's what this article says to me.
Starting point is 00:16:35 Anyway, so Ms. Ponder is in a quandary. She is the center of a controversy and works for Disney, which owns ESPN, which is among the wokeest corporations in the world. Now, we looked and we can't find ESPM or Disney criticizing Ponder. Doesn't mean they haven't internally. Doesn't mean she'll have her job long. But we can't find it. All right.
Starting point is 00:17:04 So maybe for once they're stepping back from the woke. Maybe. I'm going to follow it. But free speech, and this is obvious, that Samantha Ponder exercised her freedom of speech, and now she's labeled a hater. Who's behind all this trans stuff and gay militancy? I asked my staff to do a little investigation of the human rights campaign. They're behind it. Do you know what that is? Do you know what the human rights campaign is? Very interesting. Okay, it was founded in
Starting point is 00:17:48 Steve N. Dean, right? He died in 1993 of AIDS. He was a gay activist. It has become the largest LGBT plus political lobbying organization in the United States of America. Its endowment, all right, is about $50 million. No, it's a lot of money they have. Okay. So 501c, that means a non-profit organization, and they get donations. Who donates to the human rights campaign? Well, how about Amazon, American Airlines, Google, J.P. Morgan Chase, Lyft, Macy's, Microsoft, Pfizer, Target. There's Target. Walt Disney Company, shocker, UPS, Alaska Airlines, CVS, Health, Comcast, NBC, shocker, shocker, shocker, among others. They are the human rights campaigns, corporate partners.
Starting point is 00:18:54 That's what HRC says. There are corporate partners. They pump tens of millions of dollars in there. These people are behind all this, all right? And there's another guy behind it, too. I guess you can guess. I guess you can guess who that other guy is. George, George Soros, how you doing?
Starting point is 00:19:17 Yeah, old Georgie Porgy gave hundreds of thousands of dollars, has given to the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. All right, so what do they do? They basically come down on anybody that criticizes, woke, trans, or LGBT. They attack them. They call them bigot, like Samuel, Samantha Pont. as what they do.
Starting point is 00:19:47 Power, politics, and the people behind the headlines. I'm Miranda Devine, New York Post columnist, and the host of the brand new podcast, Podforce One. Every week I'll sit down for candid conversations with Washington's most powerful disruptors, lawmakers, newsmakers, and even the president of the United States. These are the leaders shaping the future of America, and the world. Listen to Podforce One with me, Miranda Devine, every week on Apple Podcasts, Spotify,
Starting point is 00:20:23 or wherever you get your podcast. You don't want to miss an episode. All right, free speech. So is it under siege in America? In my opinion, it is. But this goes back a while. Let's go back to 1925, almost 100 years ago, when the most famous free speech case in history was evolving. This was about the teaching of evolution in public schools. Before 1925, most public schools were not allowed to teach evolution. They had to say, God created everything. And evolution, no, couldn't mention it. Okay. Clarence Darrow, you know the name, very famous attorney. He takes up the case, and he wins in Tennessee. Now, there is a book. just came out yesterday called Trial of the Century. And it chronicles what happened in the most
Starting point is 00:21:22 famous free speech case in America. It's written by Greg Jarrett. You may know him, Fox News Legal Analyst and a guy I've known for decades who never seems to age. Jared always kind of got the little Dick Clark thing coming down. Doesn't really seem to age very much. And he wrote the book. All right, so congrats on the book. We hope people will check it out. Very important subject. You know I write history books, and yours is a history book as well. Right.
Starting point is 00:21:53 What was the most important thing you learned, you yourself, from the research you did for this book? Well, I took a cue from you. When you write your books, you make them exciting. History can be exciting if you're a good. storyteller. So frankly, I tried to emulate you. The climactic moment in the trial is when Clarence Darrow, who's out of options, he knows he's losing, the jury's against him, the judge and ordained minister is against him, and Scopes is about to be convicted. And on the other side is the great fundamentalist leader William Jennings Bryan, who's the prosecutor in the case
Starting point is 00:22:38 who helped to get this law pass criminalizing the teaching of evolution. and what does darrow do he does something extraordinary bill he calls the prosecutor to the witness stand and the judge is mortified you can't do that but darrow was counting on brian's ego who then stood up and said your honor i have no fear i'm happy to give testimony to everyone about how the bible should be taken literally and so the judge is so worried the courtroom is going to collapse because, you know, there's hundreds of people packed in there. People are feigning because of the searing heat in the summer of Tennessee, 1925. So they moved the cross-examination of Brian by Darrell
Starting point is 00:23:25 outside on a platform left over from the 4th of July activities. I have a picture in the book where you can see thousands of people convened in front of the platform, and there are these two lions, two great orators, icons in American history, facing off and in the end darrow utterly destroyed brian so much so that a broken man just days later he lays down for a nap and he never wakes up wow i did not know that it's a remarkable story yeah so brian dies shortly after uh um darrow dissect him on the stand now americans believe that freedom of speech is you know sacrosanct in stone but as we just used a setup now if you speak your mind even a responsible person like samantha ponder you can be labeled and you can be
Starting point is 00:24:30 condemned and you can be maligned and defamed and there's nothing you can do about that is there as valuable in some ways that it is, is to blame. I mean, look, people can create fake accounts, fake names. They can say whatever they want, and they can't be held accountable. And, you know, frankly, neither can the platforms under current law. So, you know, what we're seeing in America today is the same free speech rights that are under assault bill, whether it is, you know, partisan censorship and political discourse or polarizing disinformation campaigns, classroom indoctrination of punitive cancel culture under the guise of social justice,
Starting point is 00:25:26 whereby, and we see this almost every day, conformity of thought, supplants robust debate. And that's why this story, the Trump, the Trump, trial of the century is so important because Bill, history is now repeating itself. I agree with the 100% on that. And it even worse than what you say because the corporate media controls information flow. Yes, you can go on the internet and you can hear private voices. But the mass media flow is now controlled by these large corporations who basically blackball and silence people they don't like. So when I was on The Factor on Fox News, as you well know, I was on Letterman and Leno and The View when Barbara Walters was there and all the network morning shows, I could spread my message, all right?
Starting point is 00:26:24 Now you won't see anybody from Fox on any of those shows, all right? They're blacked out. They're canceled. Nobody can get access to that. Publishing industry, you want to write a contrarian book? Don't go to Simon and Schuster, okay, although they have a new CEO and maybe he'll change, and I hope he does change the culture. But it's very, very hard now if you don't conform to the leftist view of the world that the major corporations have embraced,
Starting point is 00:26:54 you're shut down completely. And that's not freedom of speech. No, Bill. It's not. And in many ways, I also blame the mainstream media have been whitting accessories to the erosion and the assault on free speech. I mean, just look at their conduct in the phony Trump-Russia collusion narrative that they drove. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:22 You know, they never bothered to verify or corroborate any of the... Or apologize. Or apologize. I mean, they won Pulitzer Prizes in New York Times, Washington's supposed, for getting the story fundamentally wrong. That says it all. All right. The book is Trial of the Senate. century. I've started it. It's very interesting to read it, and particularly if you are
Starting point is 00:27:45 interested in your country and whether we can make a comeback in the freedom of speech area. Do you think we can, Jared? Last question. Can we make a comeback and have robust debate, as you put it? Well, I'm deeply worried that we cannot. We are seeing books being banned, art shows being censored, it seems to be getting worse and worse. It reminds me of the Joe McCarthy Red Scare area of the 1950s in which if you dared to dissent, you were punished. You bet. All right, Greg Jarrett, thanks very much to taking a time. Good luck with the book. And one quick note, I know two actors, and their names are Kelsey Grammer and Alec Baldwin. All right? I think you've heard them.
Starting point is 00:28:36 so they taped a pilot for Disney ABC sitcom and they were grammars conservative in real life and Baldwin is liberal and they were swapping in the sitcom and script I saw the script it was very good ABC turned the pilot down because they didn't want to have a show featuring two white leads there you go okay there's a story you don't know about. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, that's the main federal agency that tracks guns, says that you cannot own a gun if you live in a state that has legalized marijuana and you use marijuana. So you can walk into a pot shop here in New York and buy your little marijuana, whatever, but you can't.
Starting point is 00:29:36 own a gun. And if the ATF finds out you do, you're going to be charged. Did you know that? Because federal law has not legalized marijuana and federal law trump state law. I thought I'd bring that to your attention. Dailychatter.com, daily chatter.com is our foreign news partner here on the no spin news. You might want to check that out. Two stories caught my eye this week. Haiti. Okay. Haiti now has a UN and U.S. advisory not to go there. In the first three months of this year, at least 850 people have been murdered in Haiti. And it's a small country. I've been there. I was there in a coup where Aristide was overthrown. I was there. It's nasty.
Starting point is 00:30:31 Don't go to Haiti. And the Brazilian president, Da Silva, wants the rich countries to put more money into Haiti. That's insane. Drug gangs control Haiti. The only way that country turns around if a benevolent dictator runs it. That's it.
Starting point is 00:30:55 Other story. Uganda. Now, homosexuality has always been against the law in Uganda. Okay, but now if you touch another person with the intention of a homosexual act, I don't even know what that means, five years in prison. This is a new law. And you get 20 years if you promote homosexuality. So if you're gay, you don't want to go to Uganda. Again, that's dailychatter.com.
Starting point is 00:31:27 It's a good, good place. Straight. Smart life. Americans now owe $1 trillion to the credit card companies. $1 trillion. Okay, about half of us have debt to the credit card people. You can pay as much as 24% interest on that debt, depending on your card and your circumstance.
Starting point is 00:31:50 Okay? So this is a huge problem for you. if you're carrying credit card debt because every month the debt goes up 24% big that's mafia that's mafia rates okay so what do you do if you're in that circumstance smart life every time you charge anything you put the receipt in a bowl in your kitchen or family room or whatever every week you check the receipts and add up how much credit card you've spent okay if you go over a self-imposed limit on what you can pay then you stop using the credit card so if you have to skimp for the last 10 days of a month you skimp because believe me you're not going to get a pass
Starting point is 00:32:49 on this. The only way is to declare bankruptcy and then for the rest of your life, you're not going to have any credit after doing that. You have to discipline yourself. And I know it's deprivation. And that's the problem that people don't want to be deprived, even if they don't have the money to buy what they want to buy. But you've got to do it. Or you're going to sink deeper and deeper and deeper and no one is going to help you. Smart life. This day in history, May 31st, 1990. One of the most successful sitcoms in the history of show business debuted. Go. Hey.
Starting point is 00:33:29 Ah, there he is. This is what I like. See, you come home, your parents are in your bed. You know, Jerry, we don't have to do this. What are you talking about? It's fine. I love having you here. Tomorrow we'll go to a hotel.
Starting point is 00:33:45 Aw, will you stop? No, why should we take over your apartment? I don't care. I'm sleeping next door. Your friend Kramer doesn't mind? No, he's making a bully of base. All right, that was 33 years ago, May 31st, 1990. And the show that's in nine seasons, and it was a colossal money maker for both NBC
Starting point is 00:34:09 and the people on board. So Seinfeld created the show with a guy named Larry David, who I once sat next to it at L.A. Lakers game, and he has the personality of a grape. But that's probably unfair because he didn't like me. Anyway, David and Seinfeld created the program. In the first season, Jerry Seinfeld made $150,000 an episode. In the last season, a million an episode.
Starting point is 00:34:38 Okay? Wow. And he turned down. NBC was going to pay him, what, 40? No, he made 45 million in base Jerry Seinfeld for the nine years. And NBC offered him five million an episode to go another year and he turned it down. Jason Alexander, Boston U grad, fellow terrier. He has an acting career and he does a podcast, as everybody does, I guess. But he continues to be a successful actor. And what was he making?
Starting point is 00:35:16 I don't know. I mean, I'll get all that at the end. Julia Louis Dreyfus, she was in Beep. She did a whole bunch of acting projects underway. And the guy who hasn't done that well. 73-year-old Michael Richards, who did a comedy club, faux pa, where he attacked black people. Maybe it was more than a faux pa.
Starting point is 00:35:38 And it was ruined his career. So you don't see much of him around. So the corresponding people did make. good money, nothing like Seinfeld, but they made millions over the nine years. And they all deserved it. It was a very, very good cast. And, you know, still rerunning to this day. We tried to get residuals, which you get paid for. I still get money from Iron Man 2. When it plays in Bulgaria, something, it kicked me 15 bucks. It was called residuals. We couldn't find out how much money the actors are getting.
Starting point is 00:36:16 but I'm sure they're getting a pile of dough. And that sign filled 33 years ago today. Back with a mail segment and a final thought that is, we'll amuse you, I believe. It has to do with Holly the Tara Dog. Okay, let's go to the mail. John Concierge member direct access to me. Excellent analysis on Speaker McCarthy and a debit deal O'Reilly. Mr. McCarthy is one of the Republicans who's not naive.
Starting point is 00:36:46 the best deal they could get um hugh no whack cascade charter township michigan by refusing to hold the senate president check speaker mccarthy has alienated the base of his support within his party i don't think he has a power to hold the president in the senate in check but you know we want all opinions um jack stone as a police officer i can tell you that black lives matter has a lot has done a lot of damage on the street many minorities have an utter disregard for any authority we hold as police officers this has been creating dangerous situations for both the police and the people we interact with jack i know what you're talking about here respect for the police since the black lives matter situation has declined dramatically in america
Starting point is 00:37:39 putting everybody in danger absolutely right cecile car portage indiana i stuff shopping at Target when they decided to let men follow me into the ladies' room. I cut up my target credit card, sent it to them with a note explaining why I haven't heard back. I don't blame you. And that's the power of the consumer. Dennis Yarborough, Goodyear Arizona, Bill, you've spoken many times, of the seven or more illegal migrants that have crossed the border under the Biden administration. Are there any reports on where they have gone?
Starting point is 00:38:11 No. the federal government doesn't know where they go on they say i want to go here they get a bus ticket they go there and nobody knows from then on in it's unbelievable but it's true um steve i am an older gentleman very little patience for incorrect information that's why i listen to you o'reilly to get straight story whether i like it or not yeah business model is stalled straight no BS here none okay father's city coming up on the 18th of June and again I hope you mobilize because we are the greatest deal if you give data premium membership to bill o'reilly dot com you get team normal gear free all
Starting point is 00:39:00 of that it's not really free it's 89 95 but it is free when you if you buy a premium membership I think it's 60 bucks or so giving to the rest for 25 bucks and whatever. It's just crazy. But it's great. And I hope you take advantage of that. And then we have the readers killing legends, killing the mob together, only $18. And some are reading, killing Crazy O.C.I.
