Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey, Bill O'Reilly.com premium members, welcome to the NoSpin News for Thursday, May 28th, 2020. Fight for your freedom and for your health tonight. Trump versus Twitter, we've got the toll the pandemic is taking on all of us in America. CBS News, laying off people, will tell you why that's happening. So let's get to the big executive order, which isn't really much. I gotta tell you, it's Donald Trump is mandating a review of a law that shields companies like Twitter, Google, Facebook from being held liable for content. Now here's what this is.
Starting point is 00:00:53 Okay, so all of the social media says, we're not in the business of compiling information. We're not publishers. I'm a publisher. Okay, I give you information. What we are is distributors. We, Google, Facebook, Twitter, distribute stuff that comes into our business. So everybody can see it. So therefore you can't sue us if we put up something defamatory or libelous. See, libel is when you write something that's not true about somebody. Slander is when you say something, not true. So you can't sue us because we're not checking it out. But now, after Donald Trump has used Twitter for four years to advance his own cause, now all of a sudden they're fact-checking the president. That puts them into publishers,
Starting point is 00:01:52 Okay? Publishers, fat check, not distributors. So anyway, what this is is saber rattling by President Trump. He's sending them a message. And a message getting across loud and clear because you have kind of a split in philosophy. So Mark Zuckerberg, who runs Facebook, he don't want to get in any of this fact-checking business. You don't want to have any of that because it would cost them a bloody fortune to put up people to monitor. everything on Facebook. And he goes, ah, no, we don't want that. So leave us alone. The Twitter guy, Dorsey, you know, he made a mistake by hiring this guy. Look at this guy. Look at him. So the New York Post reports that Yowell Roth, okay, there's Roth. The other guy that you saw was, I guess,
Starting point is 00:02:45 Dorsey. Yoel Ross, he's the fact checker on Trump. when Trump went after mail-in ballots. That's what it's all about Donald Trump saying mail-it-balance will lead to fraud, and then Twitter goes, oh, no, no, no, of course it'll lead to fraud. Ridiculous. So anyway, I put this guy Roth up again. The New York Post report said, Yo L. Roth, called the White House Nazis on a number of occasions. He's a far-left loon.
Starting point is 00:03:14 He's the fact-checker for Twitter? This is the guy. Come on. So we all know the game. The game is that in Silicon Valley or where this stuff is, almost 90% of the executives are far left or left. They're sympathetic. They hate Trump. And they do little things. You know, they censor people like Glenn Beck and others. You know, and it shouldn't happen. So I expect a little bit of a pullback by the social media companies now because they don't want to have to hire thousands of people to regulate what's on their posts. Now a lot of people say, well, you know, this isn't democracy and First Amendment and all that.
Starting point is 00:04:13 You have to, in the public arena, be responsible or you get sued. Now, if you get sued in this country, you're not going to win because our laws are favoring the defamers and the haters. Our laws do that. But in Australia, they've done something very interesting there. So about a year and a half ago, they passed new legislation, April 4, 2019, that hold media companies like Facebook, Twitter, accountable. But it's a narrow, it's a narrow category.
Starting point is 00:04:44 So in Australia, you can't have on social media any violence. You can't depict terrorism, murder, torture, rape, kidnapping, any of what they call abhorrent violent conduct. That would eliminate Kathy Griffin, the so-called comedian who's never been funny, who yesterday said that Trump should die. So her post couldn't go up in Australia, and it shouldn't be able to go up here. here in the United States. And if the Australian social media companies violated, the executives over there can be put in prison for three years. You are listening to a free excerpt from
Starting point is 00:05:25 Bill O'Reilly.com's No Spin News broadcast, where you can actually see me. We'll be right back after this message. Let's face it, the U.S. economy is under stress. I wear the mask when I go to a store. It's a courtesy. I don't wear the mask when I'm on the beach, when I'm walking to Tara Dog. I don't wear a mask when I'm driving or going for a hike. Just don't wear it. I went for a really unusual hike. I'll tell you about it next week. At Camp Hero, Teddy Roosevelt's
Starting point is 00:07:12 camp out in Montauk. I mean, I was very proud of myself, but I'll get into that next week. Anyway, Trump, wearing a mask. Do you approve or disapprove of Donald Trump's decision not to wear a mask while in public? This is from Global Strategy Group. 27% approved, disapprove 65. I don't believe the poll. But here's something that's really fascinating. You have a very liberal governor in Virginia who's doing damage to the state. there, a guy named Ralph Northam. So Ralph was a big mass guy. Roll the tape.
Starting point is 00:07:47 Everyone will need to wear a face covering when you're inside at a public place starting this Friday. That's at a store, a barbershop, a restaurant, on public transportation, at a government building, or anywhere where people can congregate in groups. Oh, anywhere where people can congregate in groups. Oh, anywhere where people can congregate. people can congregate in groups.
Starting point is 00:08:13 That might be the beach, Virginia Beach. Right, Governor North, oh, there he is! Memorial Day weekend in Virginia Beach. Well, no face mask, no distancing. See, these kind of clowns, and I use that word literally, Northam's a clown. He's a clown. He's ruining the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Starting point is 00:08:36 He gets up there, there's sanctimonious, and this, and they go out and do the opposite. What do you think nobody's going to notice? Now, back to Trump wearing a face mask, when he goes inside, like in a plant or something like that, he should. When he's outside, he's the leader of the country, he's General Patton in the war against the pandemic,
Starting point is 00:09:00 I don't think he needs to wear a mask, especially if there's nobody near. All right back with the final thought about new stuff that you're going to get.
