You're listening to the no-spin News, Talking Points Edition. You know, I went out to L.A. on Wednesday night. Airport was packed on a Wednesday night. No holidays. I mean, it was jam-packed.
Starting point is 00:01:18 Flight to L.A. sold out. So Americans are doing what they always do. They're traveling, spending money. I mean, I know some are cutting back, but boy, I got to tell you. And everywhere I went this weekend in L.A., Southern California, tons of people, spending money. American consumers drive this economy and the worldwide economy.
Starting point is 00:01:45 And they need the government to be open to maximize American potential. And that is the subject of this evening talking about it. So finally, after 41 days. and it was this was all contrived now I'll explain it in a moment the government is now looks like it's going to be reopened they're a little more procedural things but they got 60 senators to okay opening up the government and 10 eight Democrats eight Democratic senators and if you want their names they're all you got to do is Google and pop up there and they said okay but you know most
Starting point is 00:02:30 Democrats want to keep the government closed because they closed it. The Democratic Party closed it. What the Republican proposition was, well, look, just extend the government spending into January because this is another rig or moreau has to go in January. And we'll talk about the extension of Obamacare fees. That's what was all about health care. And Democrats said, no, you've got to give everything we want now. and Trump said, blank you, we're not giving you everything you want.
Starting point is 00:03:01 Government shut down. That's it. That's it. Now, the Democrats believe they won this controversy because of the election last week. Maybe they did. The polls are back and forth, but a lot of polls say that American people blame Republicans. Okay, that's not true, but what are you going to do? So anyway, it's a complicated but interesting exercise in how corrupt our government is.
Starting point is 00:03:34 It is corrupt. It's still the best government in the world as far as our freedom is concerned, but it's corrupt. So Schumer, the senator from New York, who's the minority leader, he, monarchy leader, he, want to keep the government closed. And since it's not going to stay closed, there are left-wing Democrats who are mad at Schumer. Roll the tape. Breaking news. Chuck Schumer needs to be replaced as minority leader for caving to Donald Trump. Look, I may be the first and only member of Congress to say this, but someone needs to start speaking the truth. If you're not willing to fight to stop premium hikes on 20 million Americans, then what are you willing to fight for?
Starting point is 00:04:27 There's no premium hikes. There is going back before COVID, because during COVID, so many people were ill, the government had to spend the money to help those people who were ill. And now, by law, the spending for Obamacare is supposed to go back to pre-COVID letter. But Democrats don't want that. Roe Conner doesn't want that. He wants to keep the COVID-level spending and then add to it the ultimate goal being the national health care system is run by Washington, D.C. That's what the Democratic Party wants. Okay.
Starting point is 00:05:10 Now, Schumer, you may remember, last March voted to keep the government open. Okay. he was savagely attacked by the far left. Roll the tape. Schumer signaled he was going to fight and then he didn't fight. Why was there such a disconnect, not even between House leadership and Senate leadership, but between what the Senate Minority Leader was saying
Starting point is 00:05:37 and then what he ultimately did? Because Schumer acted responsibly in March. But he got hammered so badly that he said, never again, now I'm going to be irresponsible. And he is. And he was intimidated by the far left because Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is going to primary Schumer. And she'll beat him in New York State unless things change. I don't think Schumer is even going to try it. Okay? He'll hang it up. I think the elections in four years or whatever. But Schumer does not want to be brutalized by the far left.
Starting point is 00:06:17 He's a coward. He is. He's always been that way. They're not going to stand up for anybody but himself. So, Schumer knows the right thing to do is to keep the government help, but he's not going to do it because he voted against it because he doesn't want to get that grief again. And that's the truth. That's absolutely true.
Starting point is 00:06:35 Now, Sherman doesn't really care about, in my opinion, that could be wrong, socializing medicine in this country, he cares about himself, as I said. it. So hold onto his power. But the real far left, liberals, they want that socialized medicine. Let me just give you one startling fact. And our friends in Canada can confirm this. There are about 40 million Canadians. There are 343 million Americans. So like Sweden and like other European countries, Ottawa runs the health care system. And it tells the doctors what they're going to make and the nurses and the drug companies and sets all the prices. Well, if you want a knee replacement or any kind of what they call elective surgery, you've got to wait a long time in
Starting point is 00:07:28 Canada, sometimes more than a year. You'll be limping around if you need a knee. Okay. So many Canadians come to the United States. There's also a shortage of surgeons in Canada. If you know that, because why spend all that money going to medical school and all that time, and then you get out and you're making, you know, okay money, but you're not making American doctor money. So if that, the Canadian system were brought down here, and I was talking to Howie Mandel about that, he's a Canadian Mandel. And I was on his podcast, I think it's going to be out tomorrow, but we'll be, well, signal you that when it comes out. And I was talking, I'm going to say, Howie, the American
Starting point is 00:08:15 health care system will collapse because many, perhaps most doctors, particularly in Los Angeles, New York to big cities, they're not going to go into the government-run system. They'll go to concierge service, and they'll charge whatever they want to charge, and the Constitution allows them to do that. Government's not going to be able to force them. So you have two tiers. The wealthy people like O'Reilly and Howie Mandel, we can buy the concierge service and get our knees replace any time we want. But the regular folks can't. They'll get much less care. They'll get physicians' assistance instead of doctors, because there will be a shortage of doctors if the government runs it. So all it is, I'm sorry to be complicated, but everybody, all of us watching
Starting point is 00:09:05 me, listening to me, you're all going to have to go into the health care system. Even if you're healthy now, we'll go wrong. Just know what you're doing, and that's the memo. You're listening to a special edition of the No Spin News. Last night, nine Eastern time, Senate voted 60 to 40 to reopen the government. Now, 60 is the threshold of votes the Senate needs to advance. a bill to the floor. You've got to have 60 votes. Because that overrides a filibuster.
Starting point is 00:09:43 President Trump wanted to blow up the filibuster. That would be a disaster, not only for the Republican Party vote for the country. Because if you had a lower threshold, majority, then you could change laws every two years. It wouldn't have any laws. They'd be changing and changing and changing and changing and changing. and that's not what the founding fathers wanted. They want a stability. All right.
Starting point is 00:10:10 So now the bill goes to the House, and it will be voted upon tomorrow afternoon. And it will pass. There enough votes. In the vote last night, the only Republican who defected was Rand Paul. Now, I know Dr. Paul, and I don't want to say bad things about him,
Starting point is 00:10:33 but this guy is not helping the country right now. And it's not anything to do with Republican or this or that. I respect the fact that he's an independent thinker. But he's an obstructionist now. He doesn't want to spend any money on anything, and he knows. That's not the way this system's going to work. Let's face it, the U.S. economy is under stress. National debt rising, trade war, shaking the markets.
Starting point is 00:10:59 And meanwhile, China is dumping the dollar and stockpile selling gold. We're taking sledgehammers to sacred cows and battling the malign forces tearing apart the US and the UK. From open borders to cultural collapse to economic chaos to the threats to national security,

The fight back starts here.
Starting point is 00:12:49 And yes, bring the popcorn. So he doesn't support his own party, and that causes all kinds of havoc. So they just reached the 60 vote threat. threshold because eight Democrats, to their credit, said, you know, we've had enough of this shutdown. And they were Federman, Angus King, Maine, Catherine Cortez Mastow, Nevada, Jackie Rosen, Nevada, Dick Durbin, Illinois, Gene Shaheen, New Hampshire, Maggie Hassan, New Hampshire, and Tim Kane, Virginia. I was surprised by Kane. He's kind of a radical leftist now. So they said, no, we're not going to have it. We'll join the Republicans, and that got passed. All right?
Starting point is 00:13:36 We all have what happened? Forty-one days to do that. Okay, they're the longest running governor shut down in history. Now, the whole thing, as I said, was contrived. And it goes back to last March when the Democrats did open the government because of Chuck Schumer. And we went over this last night. And if you are a concierge member, You can get a free transcript of every word I say. I'm not going to repeat the reporting tonight. But I'm going to tell you that the goal of the Democrats was to increase spending on Obamacare. That was the goal for this shutdown.
Starting point is 00:14:22 And they said the Republicans would shut it down until you increase the spending. And the Republicans said no. Now Schumer got hell in March from his own party and saw Ocasio-Cortez, the radical left as congresswoman from New York, start to raise money to run against Schumer the next time around, which I think is four years, and Schumer got nervous. But Schumer is through. He's finished. All right? This is his last go-around. Now, we looked at this.
Starting point is 00:14:57 It's very hard. And I'm going to just simplify it. There was a law signed by President Obama to help Americans who cannot afford health insurance get it. And that is called Obama Care. That is worthy. There are some people, for no fault of their own, and I don't have any money. And they've got to have health insurance. Now, in order to give them that, or make it very low health payments, other Americans have to buy into the government insurance.
Starting point is 00:15:37 You have to have money to give away health insurance. There was a spending level for the federal government subsidies. There's a spending level. Once COVID hit that spending level went way up. because people weren't working, couldn't buy it. But after the COVID stopped, the Obamacare spending was supposed to go back down to the original point in 2010 when it was passed. Democrats said, no, we want to keep the higher spending that was mandated under COVID. The Republican said, no, we have a $38 trillion debt.
Starting point is 00:16:21 You can't spend any more. Now, the Democrats knew the Republicans were going to say that because it would be like a Republican saying the Democrats, we're going to shut down the government unless you back abortion being illegal. Democrat Party's never going to do that. It's the same thing. So Schumer knew the Republicans were going to say,
Starting point is 00:16:47 we're not going to increase the spending. We'll talk about a new. threshold in negotiations, but we're not giving you a permanent bump up in health care spending. We're not. And that is what shut it all down. Does everybody understand it? I hope so. I can't make it any simpler than that.
Starting point is 00:17:12 Now, after the election of last week where the Democrats did well, a segment of the Democratic Senator said, okay, we won. We got our people elected. So we don't want to continue this because millions of people are being hurt. And that's to their credit, those eight senators, as I mentioned. The other senators on the Democratic side don't care how many people get hurt, led by Uncle Bernie Sanders. Go. Look, I think it was a terrible, terrible vote at a time when we have a broken health
Starting point is 00:17:50 care system. This is going to make our health care system even worse. And that vote last night paves the way for 15 million people to be thrown off Medicaid. I'm not telling the truth. Nobody's thrown off Medicaid. The rules changed. If you are an adult who can work, you must look for work or volunteer in order to get Medicaid. Is that unreasonable? No, it's not. There are medical exceptions, there are mental health exceptions, there are at every exception. But if you can work and you're getting free health care from your state through Medicaid, you've got to look for work. Sanders never mentions that. He has lost all of my respect.
Starting point is 00:18:40 He is a charlatan. He's a communist, hardcore radical, dangerous. Now, why don't Americans understand what I'm just telling you? Because they don't get accurate information. We have millions of people watch and listen to me. But there are 343 million people in this country. And most of them don't listen to me because they don't care or they can't whatever. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:19:16 But they don't know what's happening. All they hear is the media, 80% supporting the Democrats, never tell you the truth, okay? This is what they hear. Roll the tape. Democrats, you sold out the entire shutdown not to get what you wanted, but for a promise to not get what you wanted later. Where in the art of war? Where, hold on, where, where in the, all of, okay, here it is, I got it.
Starting point is 00:19:58 Sun Tsu said, never press your advantage. It's unseemly. Fighting's hard. How about a snack? No surprise, the vast majority of Democrats do not want this. None of those eight Senate Democrats are up for re-election next year, and two have announced they are retiring from the Senate. What a disappointing way to end your career.
Starting point is 00:20:31 Reminds me when Journey released their last single, we stopped believing. All right, so this is the drumbeat in America. The late nights, the Saturday night lives, the street press on television, on and on and on. explaining what the real subject is. So the people who don't know much, all right, they absorb this and you hear them in the crowd. Yeah, yay, yeah, yeah, what are you yaying for? If you come on and I interview you, I can guarantee 100% you won't know anything. Okay, now it worked for the Democrats. NBC News poll, a very simple poll, 1,000 registered voters, who, who Who do you think is more to blame for the government shutdown?
Starting point is 00:21:21 Democrats, 42%, Republicans, 52%. Okay? It worked. It worked. Because most people do not pay attention. They don't know what's happening. And they're besieged on television news by Donald Trump's latest. Eric Bowling here with the question.
Starting point is 00:21:48 do you know what it really takes to keep your edge it's not comfort it's not playing it safe it's walking straight into the fire and coming out stronger on the other side that's the driving principle behind my podcast the edge where pressure risk and raw performance collide on this week's episode i sat down with patrick bet david a business legend and media mogul who built his empire from nothing. Discover how he used pressure and personal fire to create his edge. Listen and subscribe to Eric Bowling's The Edge, available now wherever you get your podcasts. So the battle for power in America hinges on. How are you doing? If Americans are doing well on November 3rd, 2006, the midterms, then Trump will retain his power. Control over the House
Starting point is 00:23:04 and the Senate. If the economy is not doing well, the Democrats will make gains. That is the truth. All right. No excuses. No looking back. It's by. Biden's fault. None of that's going to matter. It's how much money you have and how comfortable you are in your day-to-day life. Now, the Democrats are already telling the world that the U.S. economy is terrible. Roll it. Trump's economy sucks. Last month, the jobs report was so bad that Donald Trump felt compelled to fire the head of the Bureau of Labor Statistics to distract from how bad the report was. That was just a lie.
Starting point is 00:23:54 So unemployment right now, last month, 4.3%. When Trump took office, it was 4.0%. So it ticked up. Point three, just nothing. Nothing. If you want a job, you can get a job. Maybe not the perfect job, but there's plenty of jobs. So Lou, as usual, is misleading whoever listens to him, and I think that's only his wife and maybe his mom.
Starting point is 00:24:35 Okay. Nevertheless, the Democrats and the corporate media that supports the Democratic Party is pounding that the economy is terrible. So Secretary of the Treasury, Scott Besson, goes on MSNBC to try to counter this. So you don't believe that all the people went to vote last Tuesday on the issue of affordability. My rent's too high. I can't afford to buy a house, groceries are too expensive. You think they're just misperceiving what's happening in their lives? I think that they, that they're, that we inherited an affordability crisis.
Starting point is 00:25:17 We have slowed the price increases down, and they are going to continue to slow down, and that real working class wages will go up, and that that will address the affordability issue. And, you know, I think this is what Democrats are afraid to do. that they've gone to the courts to try to stop President Trump in this great economy. He's talking about the tariffs, of course. Now, that's a hope.
Starting point is 00:25:42 It's not a policy. The Treasury Secretary hopes that things will improve for all Americans. And I hope that too. I'm not for political reasons, but I want you to be prosperous. Okay, let's look at the facts
Starting point is 00:25:59 as they stand now. Oh, food, all right? We all have to eat. And since President Trump took office, overall grocery prices are up 1%. That's it. So four years of Biden, one year of Trump, a little less, up 1%. Certainly that's flat, what they would call flat. Bacon is up 5%. So if you're big bacon person, you pay a little bit more. But not a lot. Ground beef, steak, that's up 12%. That's a lot. So the steak people, the beef people, they've got to pay more. How about eggs, spaghetti and eggs, down. Eggs are down 16% since Trump took office. All right.
Starting point is 00:26:51 Spaghetti and macaroni down 12%. Those are significant declines in food. Boweless chicken up 2%. Chicken is American's favorite meal. that? Chicken. Up two. That's flat. Okay. How about utilities? Home heating, air conditioning, up 11%. That's kind of disturbing. That's what that can hurt you. Gas at the pump, this is the national average now, down 1%. But here's the scandal. Okay? No, the real scandal. is coming up. Here's, this is not great, but if you get Obamacare, that means you're a lower
Starting point is 00:27:38 earner, wage earner, it's down 14%, which is good, okay? But if you're working in a corporation, family of four, your health insurance is up 7%. That's not good. And health insurance is a problem. We've got to redefine it in Congress, but the Republican should be leading, way to redefine how this is doled out. Here's the worst insurance. Oh, home insurance across the country up an average of 38% since Donald Trump took office. Auto insurance of 15% on average. That's where people are getting hammered right there. there. Now, insurance is a state situation. States run the insurance. Get no frills delivered. Shop the same in-store prices online and enjoy unlimited delivery
Starting point is 00:28:50 with PC Express Pass. Get your first year for 250 a month. Learn more at pceexpress.ca. What I'm telling you, President Trump's got to get involved with this. you've got to because this can bankrupt you that's an enormous jump and the reason is that the insurance companies are paying for the storms
Starting point is 00:29:13 and all that the hurricanes the fires and then they pass the cost onto all of us if you live in Maine if there's a hurricane in Florida the Allstate and the get-go and all these people they just slap it on there I'm telling you
Starting point is 00:29:29 that's got to be dealt with with. So if you add it all up unemotionally, economy, the cost of living in America could be lower, should be lower, but it's not a disaster. But that's not the way the voters are seeing it. Finally, home mortgage rates, you want to buy a house. Under Trump today, 6.22% when Biden left office, 6.85 percent. Home buying more affordable today. Do you know any of this? Because the media doesn't report it. Won't report anything that's favorable to the Republican administration. Summing up, I don't know how it's going to go. But by April of this year, if people feel better, about their financial situations the republicans will probably hold if they feel worse
Starting point is 00:30:36 you're listening to a special edition of the no spin news after 43 days the house voted last night 222 to 209 to open up the government six democrats crossed over swazi new york Perez, Washington, Quayat, Texas, Davis, North Carolina, Golden Main, Gray, California. Two Republicans defected, Massey of Kentucky, and Stubi of Florida, Gray Rees, Stuby. Okay, so by capitulating to the Republicans, and what do I mean by that? Well, Democrats' whole thing was, we're not going to open the government until you, you allow the COVID-level spending for Obamacare. And the Republicans said, no, by law,
Starting point is 00:31:34 that spending has to come back down because it's crazy anyway, and we have a $38 trillion debt. So you're not gonna blackmail us into closing the government to get subsidies you're not entitled to. It was never a chance Republicans would cave to that, never. And the Democrats knew it. And so the government shut down.
Starting point is 00:31:58 Here's what I said on News Nation last night. So on the record, I don't care about the complaint, who cares what they say? On the record is we, the Democratic Party, shut down the United States government for 43 days and got bupkins. That's pretty embarrassing, I think, right? Isn't that embarrassing? Well, I would... Let me, can I answer, yes, Bill, it's embarrassing
Starting point is 00:32:32 if you're looking at it from the macro, if you're somebody that's just paying attention to the final result. But what other result is there? So both of my colleagues, Cuomo and Stephen A, we're saying, well, now the country's more aware of spending on health care. Okay.
Starting point is 00:32:52 Millions of people have to suffer for that? Come on. I mean, any government policy that hurts the people has to be re-examined. Okay. Now, the Democrats may have won a small victory last week in the gubernatorial race in New Jersey. It was never in play in the Commonwealth of Virginia. A couple of those ran a bad candidate, and it was never even close. But New Jersey was kind of close, quoting the polls, and then Mandani wasn't close either in New York City.
Starting point is 00:33:26 But the Democrats are saying, well, people were angry, and that's true, absolutely true. People are angry about high prices, and they were angry about the government shutdown. And when Americans get angry, non-ideological Americans, who's not involved in party politics, they vote against the incumbency. John Adams, started with John Adams. People were teed off about Adams and they elected Jefferson, because Adam's a little arrogant and hearty and did some stuff that people go, you know, hold it. It's always that way. So the Democrats might have won that, but again, overall, they were embarrassing. It was absolutely embarrassing.
Starting point is 00:34:15 So you've got a situation where the press, the corrupt media, supports the Democrats, about 80%. Even they couldn't make this a victory for the Dems. They tried. They couldn't do it. Thank you for listening. Remember to subscribe to the Bill O'Reilly podcast feed and consider becoming a premium or concierge member at billoriley.com. Thank you.
