i'm mike slater filling it for bill o'reilly stand by for the o'Reilly update morning edition on this wednesday august 27th the president has called for the resignation of dr lisa cook from the federal reserve board of governors he hasn't called for her resignation he wrote her letter saying you are removed

from your position why because she is accused of saying the Two of her homes were her primary residences, both each were as a primary residence, so she could get a lower mortgage rate on both of those. She has refused to step down. Now, here's why this is extra intriguing. The next chairman of the Federal Reserve, the current chairman, Jerome Powell, his term ends in May. The next chairman has to be on the board of governors currently. Now, usually when the Fed chairman's term as chairman is over, they also resign their seat on the board.

There are rumors that Jerome Powell may not do that. So he'll resign at the end of his term for chairman, but then he'll stay on the board, which means the president can only choose as his next head of the Federal Reserve from the people who are currently on the board. So getting Lisa Cook off the board is essential to negating this play that Jerome Powell is contemplating. So the president's play is get her off the board so that she won't be on the reserve board anymore. then Trump can put on the board of governors who he wants to be the next chairman so that even if Jerome Powell stays on the board, Trump's got his guy already on the board ready to
