On this Friday, I'm thinking about the trade war with Canada.
Our neighbors to the north gained $60 billion in 2024
and about $40 billion last year
by sending goods into the USA at higher.
prices. This drives Donald Trump crazy. 100 billion dollar trade deficit with our neighbor to the north.
So he wants the Canadians to buy more stuff made in America. The progressives in Ottawa don't want to do
that. So the president is slapping tariffs on many Canadian products. Hockey equipment,
booze, dairy, motorcycles, cement, candles, cars, steel, on and on.
Mr. Trump understands that we manufacture these things here,
so why import them to another country at higher prices and get hosed in the process?
That is his thinking.
Will this be with Canada be worked out?
I think it will, but it's going to take some time because,
Prime Minister Carney doesn't like Trump and vice versa. It's personal. Is the president
being bellicose toward Canada? Yes. The truth is a trade deal could be reached, but both
