Bill O'Reilly here, and I'm warming up from the NRA.R.I.D.S. Studios in New York. Stand by for the O'Reilly Update morning edition. On this Wednesday, I am thinking about Pope Francis, wrapping up a five-day trip visiting the migrants trapped in the Mediterranean. European countries don't want them, so thousands of poor Africans and Middle Easterners languish intense on assorted islands around the sea. The UN supplies life essentials, but it is a miserable existence, and the Pope's primary purpose on earth is to mitigate as much human suffering as he can. Quote from Francis, I ask every man and

woman, all of us, to overcome the paralysis of fear, the indifference that kills, the cynical disregard that nonchalantly condemns to death those on the fringes, unquote. And the Pope is correct. Most folks do not want to deal with poor people from far away places. But there's another reality that the Pope does not want to confront. The source countries for desperate migrants are mostly corrupt, dangerous places all over the world. Of course they want to leave. Of course, we should feel compassion for them. But it's impossible for established countries to give these folks safe harbor.
