On this Monday, I am thinking about a very underreported story, violence in some American public high schools.
Yes, we hear about the shoot-em-ups and they're horrible, but what we don't hear about is that
thousands of American teachers are being terrorized by students in the classrooms,
especially in the inner cities. Now, I taught high school in Opa Laca, Florida, a ghetto north of
Miami. Back then, if a kid got out of line in the classroom, you could take that person
out of the class, down to the principal's office, and he would be sanctioned. It was a private
school, but in public schools in Dade County, they had a system whereby disruptive students
were taken out of the classroom and sent to another facility called Opportunity School. Now,
that doesn't exist. So teachers are actually cursed out by some students,
the classrooms. They are physically threatened and weak principals, and believe me, they are
legion, say, well, what do you want me to do about it? The lack of discipline and the collapse
of learning in American public high schools is a disaster. Now this. Let's face it, the U.S.
economy is under stress. National debt rising, trade war, shaking the markets. And meanwhile,
