My father, Big Strapping 6'3-4-4-4-Natal officer, died at 62 from melanoma, skin cancer.
He had warning signs. He ignored them. He did not go to the doctor to discuss those warning signs.
All of us know people who have died from cancer early. My dad was 62 years old because they did not take proactive action to protect their help.
We have a lot of technological advances now to fight cancer.
And if you have heart problems, there are things that you can do to alleviate the heart maladies.
But you must be aggressive.
You must go to the doctor if something is bothering you, say, for more than 10 days, you've got to get it looked at.
And I know it's an inconvenience, and I know that the health insurance industry is chaotic.
But it's your life, and we want you around.
millions of people could be saved and live longer lives
if they would go to the doctor at the first sign something is wrong.
My father never thought that he was going to die at age 62.
He was old school, he said, I'll just tough it out.
No. If there is something wrong, get it checked out.
