Bill O'Reilly here, and I'm warming up.
Stand by for the O'Reilly Update Morning Edition, but first.
On this Thursday, saw the Beach Boys Tuesday at the Paramount in Huntington, Long Island.
Lead singer Mike Love is 81.
He can still hit the notes.
Doesn't need a teleprompter for lyrics.
Amazing.
And the reason the Beach Boys are around now is they have a lot of Christmas songs.
Anyway, many young people don't understand, before their time, of course, that the Beach Boys
epitomize a far more innocent country than we have now, an era when strife and conflict
seem far away. Vietnam, of course, wiped that completely out. But it is refreshing to hear
the old songs, takes you back to a far less complicated world. The boy sounded great.
great. The young guys backing up are terrific in replicating the original sound. I am glad I am
friends with Mike Love and Bruce Johnson. It's a cultural thing for me. As you know, my latest
book is called Killing the Legends, and I write about Elvis Presley, John Lennon, and
Muhammad Ali, and how they influenced American culture even today. Well, the Beach Boys aren't at that
level, but they're close. And the good times that they sang about and their unbelievable harmonies.
And remember, these were teenagers when they put together many of their hits, are uplifting.
That's the word, uplifting. So, anyway, good week for me. I saw the Beach Boys back after this.
