Johnny Carson in his crew, which often featured brilliant wits like Don Rickles, Jonathan Winters, and Robin Williams. Comedians were clever back then, not playing to a political side like Colbert and Kimmel do. I miss John Stewart, who, although a left-wing enthusiast, was very quick-witted and could laugh at himself. I sparred with him many times on the air. Same with Letterman, who could take punches as well as throw them, at least with me. Mel Brooks is a classic funny guy, but could never make

blazing saddles or the producers today. The PC Hollywood pinheads would melt down. He'd be twittered to death. We are becoming a humorless country, where agenda-driven witch hunters have severely damaged free speech and creativity. Their tactics are vicious, and they enjoy hurting people. Humor is one of the casualties. As long as the entertainment industry embraces the speech police, this will continue. And they wonder why few watch the Oscar and Emmy shows. They are not entertaining. That's why? They are dull and trite, full of far-left pretentious phonies. Where are you, Bob Hope? Thanks for the memories. That's about all we have left. Now this.
