Stand by for the O'Reilly Update Morning Edition.
On this Wednesday, there are a number of reasons why the Trump administration sent the military
to contain the anti-ice riots in Los Angeles.
We have discussed the politics of the action.
It does benefit President Trump by pleasing his MAGA base.
But there's a motivation rarely discussed.
During the George Floyd riots in Minneapolis in the spring of 2020,
520 individuals were charged with serious crimes.
You may remember, the city was on fire, billions of dollars in debt,
damage, scores of people hurt, looting out of control. Well, out of those 520 cases, all but 26 were
dismissed. The accused walked. President Trump believes the same thing would happen in Los Angeles.
Few would be charged. Governor Newsom and L.A. Mayor, Karen Bass, don't blame the lawbreakers.
They blame the president for the riot.
The thinking is, I should not even be in existence.
Most deportation efforts should cease.
In addition, relatively few violent protesters did time after the Rodney King riots in 1992,
when President Bush, the elder used the military to stop the carnage again in L.A.
I was there. It was dangerous.
The Insurrection Act of 1807 gives all presidents the power to use the military
when local authorities cannot ensure public safety.
Like now, in LA, back after this.
