On this Wednesday, I want to wish everybody a happy St. Patrick's Day because, as you may know, I am an Irish American. According to the PBS program Finding Her Roots, I am 92% Irish, the rest Viking. My mother's people traveled to England from Ireland, got on a ship, and showed up here shortly after the Pilgrims. In fact, one of my ancestors founded Charlestown, Massachusetts, just north of Boston. On my father's side, the story is a bit

more difficult. My ancestors on the O'Reilly side owned two acres of land in county cabin. Well, when the famine hit in the 1840s, my ancestors could not pay the tact to the British crown to London, and they were evicted, thrown off the land. The father of the O'Reilly clan suffered a heart attack and died. The mother and her two twin boys, 16 years old, were starving. So she brought them the Galway, put them on a coffin ship, where they threw bodies over the side, and they arrived in Brooklyn by themselves, two 16-year-old boys. There, the O'Reilly clan stayed. My father was born in Brooklyn. So today is St. Patrick's Day. I honor my ancestors. I honor the spirit of the Irish. And I hope you have a good time. Now this. Let's face it, the U.S.
