On this Wednesday morning, I am applauding the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame University. It has announced it will be opening for students on August 10th, and the semester will begin. it will go through to Thanksgiving. No fall break. The kids will have to wear masks in many cases, many classes, cafeteria, that kind of thing. And social distancing will be part of the curriculum.

But opening a school like Notre Dame sends a big signal to the rest of academia. Purdue University, also in Indiana, that is opening. And now the pressure will be. on colleges around the country to let the kids come back to school. The ones that do not, particularly the private schools, will lose a massive amount of tuition.
