On this Monday, I am thinking about the Supreme Court decision late on Thanksgiving Eve that few people noticed.
Starting point is 00:01:25 It was a five to four decision that overturned an order by Governor Andrew Cuomo in New York limiting how people could worship in New York City. The reason that order was issued was because of COVID. Now, the judges that voted to limit the religious services basically said that public health trumps the constitutional freedom of religion tenet. But the five judges who voted to overturn disagreed, saying that Governor Cuomo allowed liquor stores to be open with no restrictions, bike shops, and other businesses, but was coming down on churches and synagogues. So, Governor Cuomo is angry. Mr. Cuomo is a secularist. He's been at odds with the
Starting point is 00:02:21 religious community in New York for a long time. In this ruling, it was interesting because Judge Gorsuch, who wrote the opinion, said, hey, the Constitution does not go away because there's a health crisis. But the very revealing thing, his Chief Justice John Roberts, is a liberal. He voted to restrict, and that seals that. Now this.
