On this Monday, it is Halloween the third most lucrative day in America
after Christmas and Thanksgiving.
Much money is spent on treats, costumes, and parties.
This is an excellent tradition.
Spooky stuff always energizes kids.
kids. Classic monsters like Dracula and Frankenstein's monster are excellent. I'm not a big
fan of flesh-eating zombies, especially if they run fast. But I do like the blob, the creature
from the Black Lagoon, and the old standby Godzilla. I don't like the slasher guys or the sadists
with chainsaws. Not for me. When I was a kid, I looked forward to Halloween probably more than
Thanksgiving. Christmas topped the list. But Halloween was really, really something that everybody in my
Levittown, New York neighborhood, all the kids rallied behind. And the adults in my neighborhood
were really nice. They gave out full candy bars, not the little midget candy.
bars. Snickers, three musketeers, on and on. My parents tolerated Halloween. I could tell
they weren't that thrilled about it. But the bonus was, I was out of the house most of the
