On this Tuesday over the weekend, I was up in Boston watching the socks play the Yankees with the playoffs looming. Now, the rivalry between New York and Boston is a great American tradition. And since I have ties to both cities, I'm kind of caught. So I did not openly root. I stayed silent during the game, posing for pictures with those in the crowd at Fenway Park, perhaps the best baseball stadium in the world. Now, the game itself was tremendous, a close, intense contest with Jean-Carlo Stanton

hitting a 452-foot home run, channeling Babe Ruth, who started with the Boston Red Sox back in the early 20th century. The whole experience was a thrill and a reminder that the United States of America is a unique place with unique traditions and goodwill.
