Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey, Bill O'Reilly here. Welcome to the No Spin News, Wednesday, February 8, 2023, stand up for your country. Did you stay up for the president's speech? I did, and then I actually watched Governor Huckabee Sanders as rebuttal. We'll talk about both, and that is the subject of this evening's talking points memo. Number one, President Biden had good energy. He did not look befuddled last night. All right.
Starting point is 00:00:42 He read this speech in a crisp way. Standard issue, predictable democratic speech. Corporations are evil, guns are evil, more abortion pleas, higher taxes for the rich, government control of everything, standard issue. left-wing political speech. And Mr. Biden believes all of that, apparently, and he didn't really delve out of that. That's his comfort zone. Speech lasts at an hour, 12 minutes. I did not learn one thing. Not one thing. And that really torts me off. If I'm going to sit there for 72 minutes, I want to learn something, but it was just a standard issue. Now, the strongest part of Biden's speech was his desire to bring down prescription drug prices.
Starting point is 00:01:43 That is a vital issue. And he mentioned insulin, so I had my producers immediately investigate the insulin thing. And what he said is true, that insulin prices. over the past 20 years are up 1,200 percent. And people who have diabetes are getting hosed. And in drugs in general, the seniors, they want to cap Medicare co-pays at 2,000. I think that's a little low.
Starting point is 00:02:17 But the Republican Party should get on board with this because we are, as American citizens, paying far too much for drugs we need to live. Now, I know that the American pharmaceutical companies develop the drugs and that cost billions of dollars to do that. I am aware. I don't demonize big pharma as Biden did. I don't think that's right. But surely there is a compromise. And again, the Republican Party should get on board with this. It's a big issue. The weak is part of Mr. Biden's speech was the continuing deceptions. So I'm going to run in a couple of sound bites and prove to you what the President is
Starting point is 00:03:08 saying is not true. Number one is the deficit go. In the last two years, my administration has cut the deficit by more than $1.7 trillion. million dollars. The largest deficit reduction in American history. Under the previous administration, the American deficit went up four years in a row because those record deficits, no president, added more to the national debt in any four years than my predecessor. That's a distortion. So in 2021, because of the COVID direct payments by the federal government, the federal deficit ballooned to 2.8. Those payments stopped by law. Biden had nothing to do with that.
Starting point is 00:04:02 Okay. And so the deficit fell to $1.4 trillion. It's still a colossal number. In fact, Biden is the biggest spending president in history by far. His administration is committed to spend right now $6.3 trillion, and he wants to spend more. That's nobody else is even close. Trump or Obama, nobody else is even close to that number. Of course, Biden wouldn't tell you that, but that is the truth. Now, in Trump's second year before COVID hit, the deficit was $779 billion. Okay, so Biden blaming Trump is insane. It's so dishonest. That's number one. Okay. Number two is the economy in general. So according to every poll,
Starting point is 00:05:02 and we're gonna give you a new one today in a little while, Americans are suffering economically, every single poll. But Joe doesn't see it that way, go. Two years ago, the economy is reeling. I stand here tonight after we've created, with the help of many people in this room, 12 million new jobs, more jobs created in two years
Starting point is 00:05:22 than any president's created in four years. because of you all. This baloney starts at the government shutdown with COVID when all those jobs left the building. And then when COVID subsided, those jobs came back, and nothing to do with him. Now, to be fair, a 3.5% unemployment rate, which is what it is under Biden, is good. Trump had it twice. Very good. That's the only thing keeping this country from going into a severe recession, by the way,
Starting point is 00:05:56 is that people have jobs, and he continues to spend money. But Biden go, oh, I created the jobs. It's just such a fantasy. But again, he believes all this. He does. I'm convinced of it. Now, this was almost the most outrageous thing he said. I mean, it's debatable.
Starting point is 00:06:12 But, boy, when I heard this, steam came out of my ears, rolling. Fentanyl is killing more than 70,000 Americans a year. Big, you got it. So let's launch a major surge to stop fentanyl production and the sale and trafficking with more drug detection machines, inspection cargo, stop pills and powder. powder at the border. It's just so much, it's insulting. Two years, we've had an open border.
Starting point is 00:06:55 Two years, Biden's nothing about the importation of narcotics from Mexico. Nothing. We have record-breaking amounts of illegal drugs crossing the southern border. Who makes fentanyl, China? And he says, oh, well, let's launch a major serve and stop this.
Starting point is 00:07:16 the sale and trafficking, you're not going to do anything. China's making it, sends it to the cartels in Mexico, they put it in pill form, and then they throw it up through the open border to you. It's so insulting. Now, I don't subscribe to people yelling at the president during the state of the Union address. I know some of you do. I do not. Okay, there's a decoral. obviously opposing him on this and on one of them will have our say after he finishes so I don't like this yelling liar business and I don't like it I don't think it's productive to do that now very few people picked this up because I've been doing interviews on radio and TV all day there was a terrible cheap shot in this
Starting point is 00:08:15 speech at the end. When the President of the United States equated the maniac who broke into the Pelosi home in San Francisco with January 6th and Trump, that was beneath the office of the presidency to do that, the cheapest of cheap shots. Okay. And again, it tells you about the character of the man. Didn't need to do that. Okay. But he can't help himself because he lives in a delusional world, although that one I'm laying 100% on him. The president did not say anything about the six million foreign nationals that cross into the USA on his watch in two years and say a word about him, not a word.
Starting point is 00:09:12 Okay? He wants comprehensive immigration reform. That's amnesty. He knows Republicans are never going to vote for amnesty for 20 million illegal aliens. He knows it. Everybody knows it. So he doesn't really want it, but he's done nothing to secure the border. Violent crime.
Starting point is 00:09:33 Nothing about violent crime. Listen to this. Okay, this comes from the FBI. So in 2021, there were seven murders per 100,000 people in the USA. In 2018, five murders. That means the murder rate in this country is up 36%. Okay, on mostly Biden's watch. And if you follow the news at all, you know the catastrophes in New York City, Chicago, L.A., San Francisco, you know them. It's a violent, urban environment. He didn't mention it. Doesn't mention it. What he mentioned was gun crimes. Like the guns kind of just walk out
Starting point is 00:10:19 onto the street and shoot themselves. Not the drug gang armed with gun crimes. No. So again, I mean, you have a president who knows people believe what they want to believe. And facts don't matter anymore. That's what really gets me. The American people do not demand facts anymore before making up their minds. They just believe what they want to believe. The worst dereliction in that speech last night was that Biden didn't even mention the suffering of the American people because of inflation. He didn't even mention it. And people are suffering.
Starting point is 00:11:06 One study has 75% of the American people living paycheck to paycheck. If you're doing that, you have no freedom. None. You're not free. I mean, I have a column posted on bill o'Reilly.com that tells you if your job, if you lose your job and you go and solve it, you're not free. Why didn't even mention it?
Starting point is 00:11:30 But under his watch, on his watch, inflation just blew. And then when he does mention it in other forms, he blames Trump. And Trump left office at 1.4% inflation. It's a total lie. So I could go on and on and on and on as you get the picture. And this is not ideological. It's not party.
Starting point is 00:11:51 It's basically, is this man running the country well? And the answer is no. But he thinks he is. That's he, it's not like Carter. Carter, Jimmy Carter knew that his whole administration was tottering. Biden doesn't know. that. He thinks he's doing a great, great job. Okay? And now I'm going to give you the last soundbite from Joe. This is what is coming in the election of 2024 and beyond. Go. Workers have
Starting point is 00:12:29 a right to form a union. Let's guarantee all workers have a living wage. Let's make sure working parents can afford to raise a family with sick days, paid family medical leave. Affordable child care. Every worker has a right to a living wage. Let's guarantee it, says President Biden. Well, who's going to make the determination of a living wage? Not going to be the corporations of the small business companies. Not going to be them. Not going to be the worker. Not going to be him or her. It's going to be federal government. All right. A living wage, that's socialism. That's when the government guarantees what you get in the marketplace.
Starting point is 00:13:24 Now in a nation of 330 million people, in order for that to happen, in order for the federal government to control the economy by guaranteeing wages, medical leave, affordable child care, paid family leave, sick day, everything in the world. Federal governments have to confiscate property to do it. They can't afford it on the current tax structure because people are taxed up to hear no matter what Biden says. All right. So they're going to have to confiscate in order to make that happen.
Starting point is 00:14:01 But the really scary part is he just throws this out. So you're going to see in 24 the Democratic Party, whoever the nominee is, and I don't think, it's going to be Biden, but it could be wrong, okay, is they're going to guarantee every worker a living wage? Federal government's going to guarantee it. Not a minimum wage. No. This is going to be across the board. This person does this. They get paid this. This person does that. And the corporation, the company, you're going to have any say in it. Boy, is that going to hurt the economy? Oh, and that's socialism. Now, I'm going to be on News Nation.
Starting point is 00:14:40 a cable network tonight talking about all this with people I guess like Joe Biden. So that should be interesting. Eight o'clock program starts, Cuomo program. I don't know what time I'm going to be on, but that'll be worth watching, I think. All right, let's get another perspective. So I look around the country and I try to find people who aren't Kool-A drinkers, think for themselves. And one of them is Professor Steve Shire. He is emeritus at the Carlton College in Northfield, Minnesota, heart of the country, obviously. Professor, we're happy to have you on. First of all, anything I said, all 14 minutes of it, bloviation, did you object to? Not really because there was a lot of, to use the word, misinformation in the speech. In fact, the Washington Post
Starting point is 00:15:36 fact checker today had 13 major misstatements or errors regarding the numbers in the speech, and you actually addressed several of them, Bill. So the speech was what I would call a renomination speech. It was basically read me to the Democratic base telling them, I want to be your nominee, and here's why. And I think he succeeded in that because Democrats were ecstatic. I guess one indicator I'd give you is that Keith Oberman today tweeted that this was the best State of the Union address in his lifetime. Power, politics, and the people behind the headlines. I'm Miranda Devine, New York Post columnist and the host of the brand new podcast, Podforce One. Every week I'll sit down for

Starting point is 00:17:06 The juicy details in the worlds of politics, business, pop culture, and everything in between. It's what you want from the New York Post wrapped up in one snappy show. Ask your smart speaker to play the NY Postcast podcast. Listen and subscribe on Amazon Music, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. Well, cranks like that, that's not going to help Biden. me. What I'm concerned about, and I don't know whether you see this on a campus at Carlton College, is that Americans now formulate political views and other views, social views, based on what they want or based on their upbringing. It's not like they go in and they say,
Starting point is 00:17:55 well, what's best for 330 million Americans or, gee, you know, that doesn't really stack up. And, boy, we have every poll in the world saying that Americans are disenchanted with the economy. They're suffering on an economic level. But I'm going to accept the fact that Biden says he's doing a hell of a job. That worries me because the people ultimately have the power. Yeah. And I'm afraid you see this at all levels of American society. And in fact, I think the most highly educated are on average, in my experience, the most close-minded people.
Starting point is 00:18:29 They've already figured out the world. They've figured out which facts are important and which ones they can ignore. And we see that on college campus is far too much, Bill. Okay, so we have a distracted, let's be kind of use that word, population, many of whom have receded from the real world into their cyber world, where all of their social needs are met on the machines, and they can just lose themselves. It's like a narcotic.
Starting point is 00:18:58 They can lose themselves in a world they actually create, whatever it may be, on those phones and laptops and everything else. Therefore, the propaganda in the country rises in both parties, and again, people don't bother checking it out. There's no editorial authority on the Internet at all. I mean, I get thousands of letters, Professor, and a lot of them are so far out. there and what they are saying that Biden's the Manchurian candidate, that he's secretly in the pocket of Xi, and he wants the country to be taken over by the Chinese. People actually believe that. And I'm looking at this going, Joe Biden is incompetent. He's weak, all right? Yes. But he's not in concert with the Chinese communism. There's no data to...
Starting point is 00:19:58 support any of that, but people believe it. Right. And, you know, actually the Biden administration's been pretty tough on China. They're building up military alliances surrounding China. They're building stronger diplomatic relationships with Japan. Japan is beginning to rearm. I mean, there's some reasons why you would want to go after China, given their behavior. And I think there's actually a fair amount of continuity between Trump's China policy and Biden's China policy. The difference is the two men. Yes.
Starting point is 00:20:32 And look, the Pentagon understands the danger that China poses. There's no doubt they do. They understand it. But the world leaders feared Trump. They didn't like him. Very few really liked him. But they feared him. And I think it's safe to say they do not fear Joe Biden.
Starting point is 00:20:52 Yeah. And I think the balloon incident of last week is a suggestion of that. I mean, this is a remarkable thing that China did, and basically they got away with it. Well, they didn't get away with in the sense that we did shoot it down, but the boldness in which they presented the balloon tells an informed, educated person, they didn't fear any reprisal. You don't do that. But you know what's worse? And I said this on the Hannity radio program today. Hannity and I had a pretty spirited debate.
Starting point is 00:21:30 What was worse was the U.S. government knew the Chinese balloon was in American airspace over the Aleutian Islands in Alaska four days before they told the public, which mirrors the top secret documents being in Biden's D.C. think tank that was two months before we knew that. So now we have an administration that's actively keeping very important information from the folks, the people. That bothered me more than the dopy balloon. Last work. No, they have been doing that for a long time. They will continue to do it because politics, Bill, I think, is ultimately what you can get away with. And they've been getting away with a fair amount because the media has been very compliant. And I think they'll continue to do it as long as they can get away with it.
Starting point is 00:22:19 I think that's a very astute statement, Professor. Thank you very much for helping us out. You know, last night when I was watching the State of the Union, I watched the analysis. I was waiting for Sarah Huckabee Sanders to come on with her reply. And I watched CBS. I don't know why, but I had CBS on. Now, they did what they always do. They got a table, and then they had six people that you don't know who they are on the table. and they went around, but they were very cautious at CBS, very, very cautious.
Starting point is 00:23:00 It was boring because they were so cautious. And you could tell that many of them, you know, didn't like the Republicans. You could tell that. But they weren't waving the flag for Biden. And I think that was under orders because CBS is a dire trust. trouble ratings-wise. Let's get to Governor Huckabee Sanders. So this was an extraordinary speech. And unfortunately, he's on so late that most Americans didn't see it. I'm going to use three cuts from it. But this was a speech that just destroyed the Biden administration.
Starting point is 00:23:47 Roll cut one. In the radical lefts America, Washington taxed. you and lights your hard-owned money on fire. But you get crushed with high gas prices, empty grocery shelves, and our children are taught to hate one another on account of their race, but not to love one another or our great country. Whether Joe Biden believes this madness or is simply too weak to resist it, his administration has been completely hijacked by the radical left. That is true.
Starting point is 00:24:22 There's no doubt about it. And the line about our children are taught to hate one another. This is what this critical race theory thing is all about. Okay? Because if you're a six, seven, eight year old child, and you're hearing this propaganda that white, suppressed blacks, you can't contextualize that. And then the black children are looking at the white children. see that was really really an astute point sound bite number two go beyond our border from
Starting point is 00:24:57 Afghanistan to Ukraine from North Korea to Iran President Biden's weakness puts our nation and the world at risk and the president's refusal to stand up to China our most formidable adversary is dangerous and unacceptable President Biden is unwilling to defend our border, defend our skies, and defend our people. He is simply unfit to serve as commander and chief. Very strong. All right. Now, the China thing I'm looking at, and I'm going to try to get Graham Allison, my old professor at Harvard, come in in the next couple weeks. He's the smartest guy in the country about China. That might have been a little overstated by the governor, but I know this should be a fact that Joe Biden is perceived to be weak. That's why Putin
Starting point is 00:25:56 did what he did. I am entirely convinced that Trump had won re-election, there would be no Ukraine war. Now, that's speculation. I understand. I can't prove it. Okay. But Biden is looked upon as a weak president. Hey, it's Sean Spicer from the Sean Spicer Show podcast, reminding you to tune into my show every day to get your daily dose inside the world of politics. You can find us at Apple Podcast, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcast. Next one, go. But in Washington, the Biden administration, is doubling down on crazy. President Biden inherited the fastest economic recovery on record. The most secure border in history,
Starting point is 00:27:00 cheap, abundant, homegrown energy, fast-rising wages, a rebuilt military and a world that was stable and at peace. But over the last two years, Democrats destroyed it all. That's the strongest part of the speech, and it's absolutely true. Inherited the fastest economic recovery on record. Okay, that was under Trump. Remember, when he left, 1.4% inflation. The most secure border in history because of the remain in Mexico policy.
Starting point is 00:27:35 Cheap abundant, homegrown energy because Trump was so pro-energy independence. Fast-rising wages, they were up about 5% across the board. without any inflation, a rebuilt military, and a world that we didn't have, Ukraine and China overtly threatening Taiwan. All of that is true. It's not debatable. Okay. And two years, gone. Okay. I was going to use a soundbite from Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, but it's not fair to her to follow Governor Huckabee Sanders, because the intellectuals. intellectual gap is so huge that I'm not going to do it okay new poll Gallup all right American citizens say they are worse off and this is the highest number since
Starting point is 00:28:31 2009 when the economy collapsed remember the Bush recession Gallup poll 1,011 adults first question would you say you are financially better up now than you were a year ago or worse better off 35% worse off 50 same 49 okay uh same 14 so it's 49 that haven't been hurt 50 that had now the only other time that Americans told gallop they were worse off economically in a year ago was in 2008 when the economy collapsed never happened before that's pretty stunning final question looking ahead do you expect at this time next year you'll be financially better off than now or worse off better off 60% so there's optimism worse off 38 same 9 not sure about that optimism okay because of the
Starting point is 00:29:38 study or poll that the majority of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck people the only reason we're not in a recession is people are spending money continuing to spend money you lose your job that's over the reason a bush recession happened was because people couldn't pay their mortgages you'll remember that and then the banking industry collapsed people can't pay their bills boom i don't know whether it'll happen but okay so we said that Biden didn't mention anything about a violent crime there is a list of the 50 most dangerous cities in the world okay this is from the crime index and 11 of those cities are in the USA it's amazing here they are Baltimore 15 on a list Memphis 18 we just saw that
Starting point is 00:30:38 Detroit 19 Albuquerque 23 St. Louis 27 New Orleans 35 Oakland 30 Milwaukee 40 Chicago 43 Philadelphia 46 Cleveland 48 Houston 50 okay now the reason at New York and LA and Chicago are not on that list Chicago is on the list I'm sorry it's 43rd is because the populations are so big so the percentage of crime in Albuquerque for example because the population's low is much higher on a percentage basis. Five most dangerous cities in the world, Caracas, Venezuela, Praetoria, Durban, Johannesburg, South Africa, Port Moresby in New Guinea. You don't want to go there. Trust me. Top five places to live in the USA. Here they are. This is according to a study
Starting point is 00:31:37 fines website. Ann Arbor, Michigan. Oh, that's stuck in my throat. road because that's a woke town, University of Michigan there, Ann Arbor, Michigan, number one, Raleigh, North Carolina, two, Huntsville, Alabama, three, Fayetteville, Arkansas, four, Colorado Springs, Colorado, five. Most of that is high-tech moving in and jobs available, but Colorado Springs, you've been in a beautiful place and not nearly as troubled as Denver. Smart life. Okay, Super Bowl is Sunday. I will be there. I'll be with Rihanna at the halftime show, harmonizing a little bit. No, that's a falsehood. I'm not going to be. Rihanna would never put up with me. But I will be at the game. And looking forward to go out into the Valley of Sun
Starting point is 00:32:25 in Arizona. So snacks. Wings are down 22% from last year at this time. Chicken wings. So stock up. Avocados, it's guacamole. They're down 20%. Ground beef, sirline, pork chops. They're down a little bit. So you're not going to get hose there. But beer is up in price 11% from last year. Sorry about you boozers. Wine and spirits up about 3%. Not as much as beer. But what you aren't told, the deviousness of the food industry, is that shrinkflation. You're getting less. So the price might be down a little bit, but you're not getting what you got. Domino's pizza has shrunk the size. of its 10-piece chicken wings to eight pieces, okay, from 10 to get two less, all right? Burger King, reduce the number of chicken nuggets from 10 to 8, same thing, and Chabani
Starting point is 00:33:30 yogurts have shrunk from 5.3 ounces to 4.5. So we continue to get a host. All right, more than 50 million Americans are projected to bet on the Super Bowl, okay? 7.6 billion in betting money will flow. Don't bet the game. It's impossible. I'm sorry, it's impossible. All right. If Mahomes, a quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs gets hurt, it's over.
Starting point is 00:33:56 If Jalen hurts, the quarterback for the Eagles, Philadelphia gets hurt, it's over. One injury knocks the whole game out. That's how close these teams are. Fumble here, a booted kick there, whatever it may be. Don't bet the game.
Starting point is 00:34:13 It's impossible a call. If you want to put 10 on with your friends, fine. But don't think you're going to outsmart the bookies, you're not. Stay in history, February 8, 1996, President Clinton signed the Communications Decency Act into law 27 years ago. Now, basically, this said the feds are going after Internet sites that put up pornography that can be accessed by kids. Okay? Tough, tough, tough. Oh, we're going to do it.
Starting point is 00:34:40 We're going to do it. They never did it. Why? The American Civil Liberties Union got in soon. federal courts throughout all of it violation of first amendment and it's gone today the only part of it is left is section 230 it says that a internet site can't be held responsible for what somebody else puts on it so it's a free fire zone children can access pretty much anything they want on the
Starting point is 00:35:07 internet which is why parents got to watch that all right we got a good mail segment and a final thought on something you may want to acquire. All right. This is unique. Right back. All right. Let's go to the mail. Matt Riemann, Landenburg, Pennsylvania. We'd all like to blame Biden for inflation, but doesn't Trump take some responsibility because he signed the 2.3 trillion COVID relief package? It's true, but he had to. And that package wasn't enough to ignite inflation. All right. Remember when he left, it was 1.4. That package was signed before, well before. So I wouldn't be blaming Trump there. Michael Viadro, O'Sinneyside, New York, the United States doesn't have to inform and demand an explanation for Chinese government regarding the balloon.
Starting point is 00:36:00 Violating prohibited airspace, establish for national security may result in military intervention. Okay, but do you really want to ignite? You know, you ask them for an explanation. It's got to be sane here. I wouldn't let China push the USA around if I were president, but I would do it very deliberately. Charles Lloyd, Omaha, Nebraska, I disagree with your assertion, O'Reilly, whether it was an intelligent gathering excursion or a possible nefarious delivery system, it was a danger. It also displayed to the world how vulnerable and slow to respond our government has become. Well, I won't argue with that.
Starting point is 00:36:42 The response was slow, and they tried to cover it up. The Biden administration, no doubt. But again, when you confront a nuclear-armed country, it's got to be deliberate. Sally Harrington, also Omaha and Nebraska, a big audience we have there. They're just wondering why there was no talk about Canadians shooting down the balloon. Little Justin Trudeau is not going to shoot down any balloons unless they're at a party for his children. I mean, Canada does not have that kind of.
Starting point is 00:37:12 grit joanne covington richmond kentucky trump needs the independence to win that's not going to happen as a 73 year old i can overlook his personality my friends cannot they will not vote for him
Starting point is 00:37:27 that's his deficit trump ran the country well but his deficit is his personality no doubt about it susan clemens calione swanee georgia hey bill i listened to one of your listeners questions yesterday about who spoke that no one knows about Hunter Biden scandals. The letter writer said nobody knows
Starting point is 00:37:49 about it. And you responded, everybody knows. I say, so what? Nothing will happen. I don't know if nothing will happen. I mean, I don't know if we want to do that. Republicans are going to go after the Hunter Biden thing. Let's see. Jolene, concierge member, Jolene has direct access to me, Bill. You couldn't be more correct on America's oblivious mental statement. my 69-year-old sister in law, lives in California, and she lives paycheck to paycheck. She still loves Biden. Okay. What's the old cliche?
