April 11, 2025. Here's this happening today in America. The Save Act, Budget Framework, Helicopter Crash, and Hollywood in China. That's all coming up. Then Bill's going to be here with your message of the day. But first, the House passed the Save Act, the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act. 220 votes in favor, 208 against, four Democrats joined the unified Republicans. So now it's off to the Senate. It will require 60 votes to pass the Senate, so they'll need some Democrats.
Starting point is 00:01:10 The bill requires states to obtain in-person documentary proof of citizenship before registering a person to vote for a federal election. If you're already registered, you don't have to do anything until the next time you register to vote. The measure would also require states to remove non-citizens from existing voting roles. Chuck Schumer said the Republican Save Act reads more like a how-to guide
Starting point is 00:01:34 for voter suppression. It goes against the very foundations of our democracy. Mark my words, this will not pass the Senate. Chip Roy in the House who wrote the bill said in order to preserve this Republic, we must uphold what it means to be able to vote in a U.S. election.
Starting point is 00:01:49 The House also passed the budget framework, 216 to 214. They needed Freedom Caucus members in the House to go with this. This is a framework, so now it moves on to the committees to achieve the cost cutting that was laid out in the framework. I spoke with a Freedom Caucus member today who said the Senate framework they passed says they only need to cut a small amount of money, but senators say, oh, no, no, we're going to cut a lot more
Starting point is 00:02:12 well above what the framework says. But we'll see if they actually do that, if they codify the work of Doge. Speaker Johnson said we're committed to finding at least $1.5 trillion in savings for the American people while also preserving our essential programs. Trump said, this sets the stage for one of the greatest and most important signings in the history of our country. A tourist helicopter in New York City crashed into the Hudson River. It was carrying a family from Spain. Six people, five family members, including the pilot died, including three children, ages four, five, and 11. Video of the crash shows the helicopter crashing into the water
Starting point is 00:02:50 without a tail rotor or the main rotor blade. This was the helicopter's sixth flight of the day. also at Reagan Airport two airplanes clipped wings on the runway one of the planes had two congressmen in in response to the 125% tariff that Trump has put on China China announced that they will restrict the number of American films in China this is part of their retaliation China China imports 10 Hollywood movies a year Trump was asked about this while he was in the Oval Office behind the resolute desk he was asked what do you think about this move from China his response I've heard of worse things I'm Mike Slater from the Podcast Politics by Faith. Bill O'Reilly has your message of the day. Next.
Starting point is 00:03:30 This episode is brought to you by San Pellegrino Chau. A new kind of flavor of sparkling water. The kind made with real fruit juice, a pinch of Sicilian salt, and the sparkle of the Italian sun. With no added sugar and just 10 or less calories per can, enjoy with love from Italy. By San Pellegrino Chau now. Time now for the O'Reilly Update, message of the day. On this Friday, it's becoming clear President Trump's primary objective in his tariff controversy is to isolate and weaken China. If you follow the economic chess game, you know Mr. Trump has paused onerous tariffs on all countries but China.
Starting point is 00:04:15 That is definitely economic warfare. Now, China is absolutely a danger to the world. It is amassing a ferocious military using American money to fund it. Each year the communist government in Beijing receives 300 billion more in direct trade than the USA does, and China has to sell its stuff in America, or its economy will drastically recede. Therefore, President Trump wants a far better trade deal with the Chinese, but Beijing is resistant.
Starting point is 00:04:48 So the president will eventually make better trade deals with most other nations, hoping to isolate and weaken the Chinese. That is the plan anyway. However, there is danger. The totalitarians in Beijing don't really care about their own people. In that, they emulate Putin. China and Russia can tolerate far more individual suffering than the USA in Europe. Big advantage.
Starting point is 00:05:17 Donald Trump is obviously throwing down here, using economics to weaken potential military enemies. All Americans should hope this strategy works, but in the meantime, a lot of people are panicking in America. I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it. You can reach me. Bill at Bill O'Reilly.com. Bill at Bill O'Reilly.com. Name in town if you wish to opine. All right, let's go to the mail. We got Leslie Cluce, Adina, Minnesota. Hey, Bill, my family and I have watched you for many years. We appreciate what you do. My question, if the EU has proposed zero tariffs, why is President Trump in agreement with this?
Starting point is 00:06:03 Because he wants to admission fee for all countries to sell in the USA, and that's a 10% tariff. It's like going to Disneyland. You want to sell in the most lucrative market on the planet? You've got to buy a ticket. That's what he's doing. Angela on Goppin, Chino Hills, California. Apparently, the anonymous source gave CNBC. the news that the tariff would be paused was correct.
Starting point is 00:06:27 Ah, Angela, no. They jumped the gun by 24 hours, and in that time, a lot of things happened. So I know you're cutting CNBC a bunch of slack there, but got a report real-time. Charles, concierge member, Dan Abram said Donald Trump has taken more extreme positions than a second term. I'm not certain which positions are extreme. It's a deportation of criminal legalities, extreme. No, I wouldn't say it's extreme, but sending them to an El Salvador in prison is, and the tariffs are, those are extreme.
Starting point is 00:07:04 Pedro Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Mr. Raleigh, thank you for the no-spin news. I've followed you since you were at Fox. We all know there's hatred for Trump, but I can't find a core reason why. Three reasons. Number one, he's an outsider, political outsider. Okay. the political press and D.C. hate that. They don't want outsiders, Pedro. You got to go into the game. Number two, he's bombastic. A lot of people don't like that personality trait, being bombastic. And Mr. Trump is, I know that because I am somewhat, not as much as he is. And number three, he's not woke. He's against all the woke stuff. And so there you go. You're up against the left on that one. In a moment, something you might.

Starting point is 00:08:24 Now the O'Reilly Update brings you something you might not know. Seventy-four years ago today, President Harry Truman fired General Douglas MacArthur for his botched command of the conflict in Korea. The dismissal caused an outcry from the American people who revered the commander for his service in World War II. Here is the story. MacArthur became a national hero while fighting the Japanese in the Pacific. In June 1950, North Korean Communist forces invaded the South. President Truman intervened, deploying 50,000 U.S. soldiers. The United Nations picked MacArthur to spearhead the mission because UN troops were involved
Starting point is 00:09:11 as well. One year later, hundreds of thousands of Chinese soldiers stormed. the Korean Peninsula. Enraged, General MacArthur wanted to bomb Beijing, even talked about using the atom bomb. His rhetoric nearly started another world war. Truman acted immediately. On April 11, 1951, the president removed McArthur, said the commander-in-chief, quote, I fired him because he wouldn't respect the authority of the president. I did not fire him because he was a dumb son of a bitch, although he was. That's not against the law for generals.
Starting point is 00:09:53 If it was, three-quarters of them would be in jail, unquote, Harry Truman. And here's something else you might not know. Despite McArthur's sacking, the general remained a national hero for the rest of his life. He worked as a senior advisor to President Eisenhower, then JFK. Douglas MacArthur died at Walter E. Medical Center. on April 5th, 1964. He was 84 years old. As for President Truman, he left the White House with an approval rating of just 22 percent, as lower than Richard Nixon after the Watergate fiasco. However, the low poll numbers have slowly improved since Truman's death in 1972. He was not a bad
