Bill O'Reilly here, Monday, April 20th, 2020.
You are listening to the O'Reilly update.
Here's what's happening today in America.
New Polls show the USA's changing attitude toward the pandemic.
Anti-exiety medication prescriptions spike 34%.
Half of all workers in Los Angeles now unemployed.
Some stores in Germany reopened.
Also, I had Americans running out of cash. But first, a growing number of us ranking the economy
the biggest concern as the month-long shutdown continues. Forty-one percent believe the job market
should be top priority. 63 percent say health and safety matter most. Four and ten adults report
their personal financial situation has gotten much worse in recent weeks. A 20 percent
jump since January. Voters also worried about Washington's response to the pandemic.
51% back the administration's handling of the crisis, but 65% think the president acted too
slowly when the outbreak began earlier this year. Six and 10 Americans seen Nancy Pelosi,
the Speaker of the House, and Democrats as putting party politics ahead of the people.
These stats come from a brand-new Harvard poll. Prescriptions for anti-anxiety drugs up 34%
Americans using drugs like Valium as the nation remains locked down. Pharmacists also report
higher sales for sleeping pills. Experts say fear and weeks spent inside can cause post-traumatic
stress disorder. More than half of the entire workforce in Los Angeles now without a job.
A study from the University of Southern California found 45% of adults in the country's second
largest city remain employed in April. 22 million jobs in the USA have disappeared since the
outbreak began in March. Germany, today, easing
restrictions on small business, allowing some stores to reopen and sell to customers. Shoppers are
required to wear masks and maintain five feet of distance at all times. Bars, restaurant,
gyms, and larger retailers like department stores will remain closed. Other European countries
are following. And we will tell you exactly why the European nations are opening after the
messages. It's shocking that your home can be stolen easily. Deborah learned that brutal lesson when thieves
found her home's title online. They then forged the document to appear she sold her house,
but she didn't. The criminals borrowed thousands using Deborah's home equity. She didn't even know
she was a victim until foreclosure and eviction notices arrived. She spent a fortune trying to get her
home back. The FBI now calls home title fraud one of the fastest growing crimes, but you can
avoid a possible nightmare by protecting your home with home title lock. Neither your homeowner's
insurance nor your bank protects you. For pennies a day, home title lock will. Find out if you're
already a victim of home title fraud. So please register your home at hometidaloc.com and enter

Time now for the O'Reilly Update message of the day, money versus illness. As reported,
Germany is beginning to open for business. That's because folks are beginning to run out of money
over there and here in the USA as well. And if you don't have cash, you can't buy. You can't buy
food. The median income in America is $63,000. In Germany, it is just $34,000. The average tax rate in the USA
is between 15 and 37%. In Germany, it's between 40 and 45%, not counting 19% on everything people buy
except food. That's called a value-added tax, VAT. There's even a dog tax in Germany. If you own a
pooch, you've got to pay the government $200 a year.
Now, because of all of those taxes, Germans and many other European citizens don't have any
savings.
But we can't brag here in the USA because our average savings is $3,000 a person.
That's it.
That's all the reserve most Americans have.
In Germany, 10% of the total population gets food from the government.
In the USA, it's 9%, 40 million people, getting food stamps here.
But if millions more run out of cash and can't buy food, civil unrest will follow.
Now, in Sweden, a nation of 10 million people,
They decided not to close down. They did not lock down. They did not demand businesses cease.
Coronavirus cases there spiked. They have 15,000 cases, about 1,600 deaths from the disease.
Sweden has twice the population of its neighbors, but 17 times more COVID infections.
So you can see that not shutting down is a danger to the public help.
However, there comes a point where decisions are going to have to be made.
As I said, once people can't buy food and the government cannot supply the entire population
with food, you see it already with food banks opening in California and Texas, there are miles,
miles of cars lined up to get free food. That happened in Miami, in Florida. So the pressure
to open the government is immense. And you are seeing that, as President Trump is basically
telling the nation we're going to open. Now, places like New York City, New Orleans, they will
be exceptions. But the opening up of America will begin in earnest in the next
couple of weeks. If the infection does not spike, then you will see a relaxation of all the rules.
I'm Bill O'Reilly and I approve that message by actually writing it for the best pandemic news.

Now, the O'Reilly Update brings you something you might not know. Since 1970, there have been thousands of terror threats against the USA. Causes include the jihad, abortion, the environment, conspiracy theories, on and on. This week marks the anniversary of two of the most notorious attacks against America. In 1993, the CEO, the CEO,
in Waco, Texas, and in 1995, the Oklahoma City bombing. In Waco, Texas, it was all about
David Koresh, a self-proclaimed polygamous profit, illegally stockpiling weapons for the coming
apocalypse, telling his followers he was building a, quote, army of God. On February 28, 1993,
the ATF raided the compound. The initial gunfight left nine people dead and more than 20
seriously injured. The event prompted a 51-day standoff between Koresh and the federal
government. More than 900 law enforcement officials took part in the siege. On April 19th,
yesterday, then Attorney General Janet Reno ordered action. Tanks stormed the compound
firing tear gas. The building caught fire burning to the ground in less than 45 minutes.
Koresh and 76 of his followers were dead. No one knows.
who started the blaze.
Extremists blame the government, including a 25-year-old Gulf War veteran named Timothy McVeigh.
Two years later, on the anniversary of the Waco siege, McVeigh detonated a truck loaded with
5,000 pounds of explosives at the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City.
The blast ripped through the north face of the facility, destroying all nine floors.
168 people dead, 850 wounded. It was the deadliest domestic terror attack in U.S. history.
Two years later, McVeigh was convicted on 11 counts of murder and using a weapon of mass
destruction on American soil. He was executed in 2001. And here's something else you might not know.
The manhunt for Timothy McVeigh didn't last very long. A few people,
hours after the attack, he was arrested during a traffic stop for driving without a license
plate. Back after this. There are thousands of abandoned animals in the USA that need our help.
I am partnering with Delta Rescue, the largest no-kill care-for-life animal sanctuary in the
world. Founded by actor Leo Grillo, who left Hollywood to devote his life to saving abandoned animals,
Delta Animal Sanctuary is a one-of-a-kind rescue unit.
They are staffed by trained attendants who look after each animal, providing them water,
