Bill O'Reilly here. You are listening to the O'Reilly update.
Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater.
Thank you, Bill. It is Monday, April 20th, 2026.
Here's this happening today in America.
Iranian ship disabled. Louisiana tragedy.
Bear attacks and how much would you pay for a life jacket?
It's all coming up. Then Bill's going to be here with your message of the day.
But first, the back and forth of the Strait of Hormuz being open or not continues.
The president warned Tehran that if it refuses to accept his deal,
then the United States will once again start to bomb the country, including every single bridge and power plant.
The president accused Tehran of a total violation of the ceasefire by attacking ships in the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday.
This is just a couple hours after publicly agreeing to leave the straight open.
According to the president, Iranian forces attacked a French ship and a freighter from the United Kingdom.
CENTCOM is telling us that we intercepted an Iranian ship after multiple warnings.
It still tried to pass by the blockade.
this is over six hours.
They were then told to evacuate their engine room.
We fired rounds into their engine room to stop the ship.
Marines then boarded and seized it.
A male in Louisiana killed eight children, seven of his own,
before he was ultimately killed by police.
The children ranged in ages from one to 14.
He also shot two women in the head.
We now know that in 2019 he was arrested for illegal use of a weapon
and carrying a firearm on school property.
Those are two very low.
charges for what he actually did, which was fire five rounds at a car in the direction of the school,
only 300 feet away as the car sped away. For that crime, he was only given probation for 18 months.
Two soldiers are seriously injured after encountering a brown bear during a training mission
at a military base in Alaska. This is guys from the 11th Airborne Division they encountered the
animal during a land navigation training event. We know they use bear spray, but both soldiers
are seriously injured. In other bear news, three people in California,
were sentenced for insurance fraud after dressing up in a bear suit, a bear costume to attack a Rolls-Royce
and two Mercedes, then submitting insurance claims for $142,000.
A California Department of Fish and Wildlife Biologists reviewed the footage and concluded it was
quote, clearly a human in a bear suit.
Detectives then found a bear costume in the suspect's home.
A life jacket worn by a passenger on the Titanic, as she assessed.
escaped the sinking boat was sold at auction on Saturday. How much do you think? Lifejacket from the
Titanic. It was worn by a first-class passenger signed by her and other passengers. I don't know if I
would have signed it. The boat, the lifeboat that this person was on was carrying only 12 passengers
and it was made to carry 40. The price for this life jacket? 9606,000. I'm Mike Slater from

Time now for the O'Reilly Update, message of the day.
On this Monday, not many people learn from history, and that's a personal history too.
Say you have a hard time with a person.
Could be a child, could be a spouse, a friend, whatever.
There is a tendency to give the benefit of the doubt.
and to allow those people back into your orbit.
Well, let me ask you something.
Has that worked out for you?
Most of the time you get crushed again
because people who are weak, bad, evil,
have certain tendencies and they don't disappear.
Yes, people make mistakes,
but I'm talking about patterns of behavior.
So now in the world, there is a big danger,
and that is terrorism associated with nuclear weapons.
Everybody who follows the news, and it's about 50% of the population throughout the world,
everybody knows that.
Yet, we are not learning from history.
And all you have to do is go back to Adolf in the mid-1930s.
No one wanted to take the man on.
They allowed him to run wild to conquer the end.
entire continent of Europe from the Arctic Circle all the way down to North Africa. And he was
largely unopposed. Have we learned anything from that? Well, watching Iran, I'd have to say the
answer is no. I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it. You can reach me.
Bill at Bill o'Reilly.com. Bill at Bill o'Reilly.com. Name in town if you wish to opine. Now let's go to the
male. Salvatore Ventura, Burr Ridge, Illinois. Bill Police tell us what nations are helping President
Trump's naval blockade. It's the Gulf states. And they're helping a little bit because they don't
have a big Navy apparatus over there. But that's it. Nobody else helping us. Boy, that's bad.
Jimmy Wagers, Bangkok, Thailand.
I'm sure you know the story of the Little Red Hen.
This is how I see Europe.
Not wanting to do any of the work, but are they happy to reap the benefit of what the USA is doing.
Right on.
Why should they do anything?
They'll wait until we crush Iran and then they'll be a more peaceful world that they'll benefit from.
Absolutely what's going on.
Linda, concierge, remember, I feel like Iran is laughing at us.
They see the hate the left, has to the president.
Some of the talk by politicians on the left seems almost treasonous.
Certainly he hinders on negotiations with Iran.
Of course, the president doesn't help with his unrestrained social media posts.
All right.
I don't have any beef with that analysis.
treason, you know, you can't dissent, and they'll always hide behind dissent, the press, isn't treason.
Sean Milburn from Sydney, Australia.
So, Sean, I'm sure they get mixed up with Melbourne and Sydney.
Hey, Bill, is it straight or straights of Hormuz?
Please tell us, because everybody is saying it differently.
It is the straight, singular.
That's what it is.
Say one straight right out to the Gulf of Oman.
Okay.
In a moment, something you might not know.

34 years ago today, one of the most successful singers in the world,
signed a $60 million deal with Time Warner Music.
Since then, she has sold more than 400 million records,
earning the nickname the Queen of Pop.
Here is a story of Madonna.
Born in 1958, Bay City, Michigan,
Madonna Chaconet moved to New York City at the age of 20.
There, she worked odd jobs as a waitress and elevator operator.
Can you imagine her in the elevator?
At night, she performed in various dance groups around Manhattan.
Madonna recorded a demo, signed a two-album deal with Warner Brothers music in 1982.
Two years later, she released a song called Like a Virgin that became a global sensation.
For the next decade, the singer released five records, each became number one in more than six countries.
On April 20, 1992, Madonna inked an agreement with Time Warner for the $60 million, making her the most successful female act of all time.
Since then, she's released numerous books, starred in several films toward the world,
eight times and formed her own record label Maverick.
But Madonna's success has also been marked with controversy.
Her style of blending religious and sexual imagery together has been condemned by the Vatican.
MTV banned two of her music videos for, quote, pornographic style footage.
In 1994, she was nearly booted from the set of Late Night with David Letterman after she repeated.
after she repeatedly used profanity on live television.
The 2006 tour was criticized by many Christian organizations
after she ended the performance by mounting herself on a crucifix.
And here's something else you might not know.
Madonna's controversial style has also cost her.
In 1989, Pepsi canceled a $5 million endorsement
after she performed like a virgin in a wedding dress at the MTV Awards.
Back in a moment.
