Nearly 50,000 Americans have been killed by the disease in less than two months. That number expected to rise to 60,000 by the end of summer. Despite these horrifying stats, petty, political, partisan. shift continues. The truth is, medical experts have been sounding the alarm on a global

pandemic for years, particularly threats emerging from China's wet markets. The world failed to mobilize because it never does. Like history's biggest catastrophes, the warning signs went ignored because they always do. In 2012, the Rand Corporation piled a list of all existential threats against the USA. The company found one enemy that could actually decimate the country. Quote, only a pandemic is capable of destroying America's way of life, and that was in 2012. Three years later, Bill Gates launched a series of computer models to analyze the biggest dangers to humanity. The result, quote, a pandemic disease is the most predictable catastrophe in the history of the human race. If only because it has happened to the human

raised so many, many times before, unquote, said Mr. Gates. In 2017, just three years ago, Barack Obama's outgoing Homeland Security Advisor warned of a potential flu outbreak that could prevent all international travel and tank the stock market. But no one in the Obama administration publicized that. Less than a year ago, Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore published a paper on the devastating impact of a new coronavirus that would kill millions around the globe. Former Republican Senator Kelly Ayat co-chaired that report, and it came out in November 2019. It urged the USA to prepare for possible play. But the report was largely funded by hate Trump people.

So it was ignored. Obviously, the world failed to act, as it always did. does, just like Pearl Harbor, the Nazi concentration camps, the threat of terrorism before 9-11. the federal government, led by President Trump, open professional sports on May 15th. That means that Major League Baseball would play in minor league spring training parks, that the National Hockey League and the National Basketball Association would play in their own arenas, but no fans. Each player would be tested every three days, along with coaches, broadcast personnel, whoever was going to be around the players. So the games would be televised, radio, but again, no fans in the stands to guard against the spread of the pandemic. Why couldn't that happen? There is no reason. And it would be a tremendous morale booster for everybody in the country.

Mary, it's not dead forever, but the U.S. economy is in severe recession. Now, I understand the controversy, let's put that label on it, between the people who want to open up and the people who want protection against the virus. Both sides are very valid points. I think we have to open the economy very cautiously. I think the governor of Georgia may be a little too quick on the trigger here, especially with the one-on-one services, like getting

your nails done that kind of thing. But the economy has to be gradually rolled out, and I just explain how we can do that in a smart way with professional sports. So you are absolutely right. this can't go on much longer. John Donnell in Cincinnati, I think it's too early to call whether Sweden took the right approach by not shutting everything down. The country believes herd immunity will tamp down the epidemic. I agree that the correct measurement is deaths per capita, but don't we need to wait a year to see what's successful and what is not? A good point, point, John, but remember, Sweden by not shutting down, has a 17% higher contagion rate than its neighbors, Norway, and Finland. So that's evidence in stone right there. Now, Sweden's a

country of 10 million. Can they get through this without a disaster? You're right. We have to wait and see. How can Trump possibly win in November? If Donald Trump is able to get the virus contained and the economy back by summer, you're a very good chance to win.
