Bill O'Reilly here Friday, April 3, 2020. You are listening to The O'Reilly Update. Here's what's happening today in America. The worldwide plague has changed the daily lives of nearly all Americans. Businesses are closed, millions staying home, everyone worried about themselves, their families in the future. A new poll from Pew Research shows how folks across the USA are coping with the contagion, mentally, economically, and even how we spend
our free time. A staggering 91% of us now say we will not attend parties or any large social
gatherings, including funerals and weddings. Hardest hit, the country's food industry.
77% of U.S. adults will not dine out during the contagion. More than half are afraid of pickup and
delivery food orders. Folks also avoiding religious services. Many churches are closed.
but worship seems to be on the rise.
Six and ten Americans say they prayed for a quick end to the contagion.
The virus also having a major impact on the 2020 presidential election.
Two-thirds of American adults feel uncomfortable visiting polling stations.
The Democrats now considering digital voting to decide their party's nominee this summer.
A record number of Americans, nearly 40 percent right now, are working from home.
That figure was just 3% two weeks ago.
After the pandemic, you will see more people working from home.
That will be a societal change going forward.
The disease is also having a major impact on mental health.
According to Wall Street Journal, doctors are reporting a spike in depression, anxiety, and alcohol abuse during the pandemic.
Marijuana sales also on the rise, the consumption of cannabis, up 150.
59% in California, 100% in Washington state, 46% in Colorado. All those states have legal pot.
The public largely supporting the president's handling of the virus so far.
Latest polls show 55% are backing Donald Trump. But fear of the disease also breaks down along
economic lines. According to Pew, 54% of Americans with higher incomes say the disease has had a major negative impact.
on their day-to-day lives.
But only 35% of workers with a high school diploma
say the virus has had an impact on their average routine.
I'm not sure I believe that stat.
Pulsters often overlook the working class.
In a moment, what my radio listeners are telling me.

Time now for the O'Reilly Update message of the day.
Our weekly Friday feature, listeners sound off.
Austin in St. Louis says, going forward, Bill, do you believe the American consumer will punish China by avoiding products made there?
I don't think it's a long-term trend, Austin?
but in the short term, everyone knows China deceived the world, and everyone knows a virus came
out of Wuhan. So China's image is very much damaged. As for buying products, people usually
like to buy the most inexpensive, and that means China's in the mix. However, China and the
communist government in Beijing will never again, in our lifetimes, have credibility.
James in Port Orange, Florida says, my wife and I filed our 2018 income tax by mailing our return to the IRS.
How will we get our stimulus checks?
Buy mail, the same way you did it, James.
Now, people who filed electronically in two,
2018 with the IRS, their money from the stimulus bill will be electronically deposited in their bank accounts because you had to give that money with the electronic filing. So the IRS will just shoot it right in there. It will take longer for you and your wife to get your money because of the mail. And that takes manpower and it's much slower. Arlene is in Bellingham, Washington.
Hey, Bill, our governor just created an online form to specifically report business in violation of the shutdown.
That encourages the public to tattle on others.
Is it borderline fascism?
What do you think?
I don't like the trend to have citizens report on one another.
However, Arlene, in your state, some businesses are violating the governor's order.
So it's almost like a citizen's arrest, a tip-off, a 911 call.
I'm not vehemently opposed to that.
Whether I would do it would depend on how big the business is, and if I felt it was doing
damage to my state or neighborhood.
So I would have to make an individual assessment.
But in general, American spying on other Americans is not a good thing.
Tom in LeMoyne, Pennsylvania, Bill, when do you think there will be a vaccine? I'm hearing in a year.
Stay off the internet when it comes to pandemic reporting Tom. Go to Bill O'Reilly.com, where we do not speculate.
I do not know when there will be a vaccine. But here's what I do know.
major drug companies in the USA are currently testing vaccines to fight the coronavirus on real
people. They're in phase three trials, also in Britain. However, no one knows if the testing
will be successful and you can't put out a drug unless you know the likely outcome of
consuming that drug. I'm Bill O'Reilly and I approve that message by putting it together for more news.

Now the O'Reilly update brings you something you might not know.
The O'Reilly update brings you something you might not know. The virus can now be found
in all 50 states. There are currently 175,000 Americans infected, resulting in more than
3,000 deaths. What a disaster. While places like New York and Washington State struggle to
contain the pandemic, other locations in the USA remain relatively unaffected by the contagion.
For example, there are just 145 cases in West Virginia. Health experts cite the lack of large
towns and geographical isolation of West Virginia with a low infection rate.
The capital city, Charleston, is the state's biggest town, boasting a population of about
50,000 residents, well, compare that to Brooklyn, which has 2.6 million residents.
Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, each reporting about 100 cases of the bug.
Combined, the three states have seen just seven deaths.
quotas have the lowest population density in the country, just 11 people per square mile.
Manhattan, more than 85,000 folks per square mile, 85,000.
The lowest reported cases of the virus in the USA? Wyoming, 95 infections and zero deaths.
Even so, the city of Jackson has a stay-at-home order for everyone.
The town is a popular ski destination. Lots of people in. Sadly, most places across the country are not
as lucky as Jackson Hall. Cases are expected to increase dramatically in Louisiana, Texas, Michigan,
and Florida within the next few days. Hardest hit could be New Orleans. Medical experts say
the Big Easy's high population density, lack of hospitals, and aging population
could be the next epicenter of the virus in America.
Doctors believe the annual Mardi Gras celebration in February
is likely a major factor in spreading the virus.
More than 2 million visitors from all 50 states and around the world
descended on Louisiana for Mardi Gras this year,
most in the French quarter.
So the pandemic in New Orleans and Louisiana,
is a major concern. Back after this. If you are 75 years of age or over, you're a member of what's called
the silent generation. You're also born to parents who were part of the greatest generation,
so you're a product of both. You quietly worked hard and were a big part in making America great.
You took care of your family, made sure they remained secure by owning a life insurance policy.
But perhaps you no longer need or can afford those premiums.
If you're 75 or over and own a life insurance policy worth $100,000 or more,
we buy 75 will appraise it for you free, help you convert it to cash.
