Starting point is 00:00:36 Thank you, Bill. It's Thursday. April 3rd, 2025. Here's what's happening today in America. Liberation Day. Tick-Tock bids, Supreme Court hearing, and Fencer Neals. It's all coming up. Then Bill's going to be here with your message of the day. But first, Trump had his big Rose Garden celebration of American Liberation Day. He said China has 67% tariffs charged against America, including currency manipulation and trade barriers. He said at 67% we're going to be charging a discounted reciprocal tariff of only 34%. In other words, they charge us, we charge them, we charge them less. How can anybody be upset?
Starting point is 00:01:12 Trump said the European Union is very tough and that Europeans rip us off. He said the EU charges the United States a 39% tariff. So America is going to charge them a 20% tariff. Trump said Vietnam is a great country with great people and great negotiators. They charge us a tariff of 90%. So America is going to place a reciprocal tariff on them of 46%. Trump said in the coming days, there will be complaints from the globalists, the outsourcers, special interests, and fake news. Never forget that every prediction our opponents made about trade for the last 30 years has been proven totally wrong.
Starting point is 00:01:45 They were wrong about NAFTA. They were wrong about China. They were wrong about the Trans-Pacific Partnership. The back and forth of the sale of TikTok, they now have to be wrong. until Saturday to change its ownership structure. Amazon put in a last second bid. Trump met yesterday with White House officials to discuss the fate of TikTok. There's been talk of having a few different investors, including Oracle and Blackstone,
Starting point is 00:02:07 work together on this, but it wouldn't be a full sale, which is what the law that Congress passed requires. In 2020, Microsoft and Walmart made a bid for TikTok. But TikTok didn't take it because it's a Chinese sci-op and specifically. buying tool. So why would they sell? But now they have to. Supreme Court oral arguments yesterday about whether or not South Carolina is able to cut off Medicaid funding to Planned Parenthood because they provide abortions. Under federal law, one of the requirements that states must agree to is that patients are entitled to choose their doctors. In the words of the law,
Starting point is 00:02:42 they're entitled to treatment from, quote, any qualified provider. Well, South Carolina has determined that Planned Parenthood is not qualified because they provide abortions. South Carolina says that instead of giving the money to Planned Parenthood, they spend the money on their community health centers across the state that provide all the things Planned Parenthood does, and then some just no abortions. A decision is expected in June. At a woman's fencing tournament in Maryland, a 31-year-old woman found out that she was going to be competing against a man, so instead she took a knee. She told the ref, I'm sorry, I can't do this. I'm a woman, this is a man, this is a woman's tournament. She was black-hearted. It's the most severe penalty. Expulsion
Starting point is 00:03:18 from the tournament. Starting point is 00:03:59 On this Thursday, the dictator Putin just drafted 150,000 more young men in Russia to prop up his battered army, which continues to get pounded in Ukraine. It's an amazing situation, a small country desperately fighting against a huge totalitarian state. Putin couldn't care less about how many human beings die, but it's a very human being. he has to know the Russian battlefield performance has been dismal. I mean, when you have to use North Korean troops to prop up your army, that's not good. What's next? Sri Lankan forces. There is no question that old Vlad is one evil SOB, and I'll prove that in my upcoming book confronting evil. But here's a fact about the war in Ukraine that no one has mentioned.
Starting point is 00:04:47 Putin cannot conquer that country because of Joe Biden. That's right. The sleepy guy made it impossible for Putin to prevail, not by sending weapons, not by any direct action. No, Biden has blocked Putin because of the embarrassment of Afghanistan. There's no way President Trump will emulate Biden's incredible weakness, and the Europeans know that, especially Britain and France. We saw the Biden debacle up close. Donald Trump well understands he has to stand up. to bad lack or risk a Biden association. History often works that way. Putin needs to read this column and wise up. You're not going to get Kiev, you tyrant. Make a deal. I'm Bill O'Reilly.
Starting point is 00:05:40 I approve the message by writing it. You can reach me. Bill at Bill o'Reilly.com. Bill at Bill O'Reilly.com, name in town, if you wish to opine. Here's a male, Mary, Salas, Palestine, Texas. I saw on a conservative news channel that Doge uncovered Biden was giving social security to illegal immigrants. This for seniors such as me who have paid to social security all our working lives is outrageous. Illegal immigrants have not paid into this system. Number one, the report is not true.
Starting point is 00:06:13 It's a false report. Bill Biden didn't give Social Security payments to illegal migrants. There is no evidence to support that whatsoever. Some states have, you know, some states do it. That's not the feds. But they got to clean it up because you can use phony Social Security numbers, Mary. You got to clean it up. You got to make that a real high-grade crime if you do that.
Starting point is 00:06:44 Noel Thompson, Horseshoe, North Carolina. I want to sincerely thank you, O'Reilly, for a fair and balanced review of NPR and Fox News. That kind of balance is almost unheard of today, and my God bless you for it. Well, Nicole, that's why we're here. We're going to recover everybody honestly. What we're going to do? A lot of people don't like it. Too bad.
Starting point is 00:07:11 I'm Bob Schindler, Quag, New York out of Long Island. Bill, you often say the media hates Donald Trump, and that's why they treat him with disdain. I disagree. Just ask George W. Bush. If you were president today, it would be just as bad as Trump. No way. I mean, George Bush, the younger, got it because of Iraq primarily. But nothing like this.
Starting point is 00:07:34 Nothing. The hatred toward Trump is unprecedented, with one exception, Abraham Lincoln. He's the only president who's hated as much as Donald Trump. Confronting the president's is the book for you, Bob. In a moment, something you might not know. The best coast just got better. Introducing Quantum of the Seas sailing from L.A. this fall. Here is the story of the Pony Express. The Postal Service began delivering letters in the colonies during the Revolutionary War. Benjamin Franklin was appointed the first Postmaster General by the Continental Congress in 1775. Over time, the system expanded eventually reaching the Mississippi River. By the mid-19th century, hundreds of thousands of people had moved past that river west. When California became a state in 1850, letters sent from New York reached California by ship, a journey of two months in April 1860.
Starting point is 00:09:39 Owners of a St. Louis Freight Express launched the Pony Express. 150 relay stations were created across present-day states of Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, and California. Riders were paid $25 to carry 20 pounds of mail. The men and horses were given breaks every 25 miles. The initial cost to use the Pony Express, $5.00 poorer. letter, which was big money back then. The system was successful. The average delivery time dropped from two months to 10 days. The riders captured the imagination of the American public, but the Pony Express lasted only 18 months. Just 10 weeks after the service began, Congress
Starting point is 00:10:29 authorized a bill creating the Overland Telegraph Company. Thousands of miles of electrical lines are installed across the American West. For the first time in history, written messages could be sent instantly across vast distances, even to the Pacific Ocean. On Halloween night, 1861, the telegraph finally reached San Francisco. Communication times between the two coasts were reduced to 90 seconds. The Pony Express ceased operations the same day. back after this
